Reviews for Uppsala City Hostel
Review 1:Bed quite uncomfortable - had to pay for sheets as well on top of given rate (no choice, have heard this is the standard for Sweden though). Not many toilets/bathrooms - quite inconvenient in the morning.
Review 2:Handy location. Warm. Quite reasonable rate.
Review 3:I called the hostel in advance and asked the opening hour....The receptionist was around 30min late in the morning on my day of arrival...
Review 4:Really good location. Close to central station
Review 5:not a lot of showers (only 3 for the whole hostel?)
Review 6:Really good location, checkin/checkout really easy, nice staff, quite secure (you needed a door code to access the building, to access the hostel and a key for your room) and enough plugs (at least 4 in our 4 bed dorm).
Review 7:Warning! They tried to charge us 100 SEK more than we were supposed to pay according to the booking confirmation. Bathrooms a bit stinky and some pieces of equipment and furniture worn out. Also, it was rather cold inside, despite there not being very cold outside. Remember that you have to pay additional 60 SEK / set for bed clothes (or bring your own) - not a disadvantage, it's a standard in Sweden.
Review 8:Great location, sufficient number of bathrooms (we never had to queue), fridge in the room, many power sockets
Review 9:We had quite a load with us and it's not easy to go up the stairs... the PC is free for us to use but it does not have internet connection... so what's the point of having it there?
Review 10:The kitchen is all of us to use and laundering is free!! Helpful and friendly staff. The rooms are named by different cities of Sweden -vad rolig!
Review 11:There is a spiral stairway and the lift is broken, so don't stay if you have trouble walking up stairs
Review 12:Great central location, really nice rooms and very clean place, great kitchen set up and it was all really convenient to see the sights and be part of the beautiful city.
Review 13:Owners cleaned the kitchen at weird hours and the bathrooms were a bit strange in a nonfunctional way with the showers in small stalls with the toilets. The floor was flat so water would spread everywhere.
Review 14:Liked the big clean kitchen with oven and dishwasher as well as a mini fridge in our two twin room. Tv was awesome and the hostel is centrally located which made walking uppsala very easy.
Review 15:The bed sheet is rent for 60 SEK It SHOULD be the hotel responsible and including in hostel price. It is an extra money that you have to pay for unreasonable cause. In nutshell, it's make the hostel price expensive and not worth it.
Review 16:fairly unattractive and lacking in character. Not one of those hostels where a lot of work has been put into making it beautiful. Bathrooms could be better - shower splashing onto toilet seat.
Review 17:staff quite helpful. I slept well, bed was comfortable and facilities were fine.
Review 18:-Isolation between rooms was very bad, I could heard all the discussion from the other rooms like I was there. -Some people were disrespectful.. like calling until 1h30 during the night in the sharing room super loud instead of using the facilities. -The worse was two women making noise in the sleeping room (at 4 a.m) preying ?! So I guess if you want more comfortable place you will need to pay more money
Review 19:-Cheap place if you don´t want to pay too much money. -The hostel is at 5 min of the train and bus stations and in the city center so perfect location.
Review 20:Several sets of stairs, with no assistance given to help with luggage.
Review 21:Staff helpful & friendly. The shared kitchen was good, along with complimentary hot drinks! The room was warm, & there were multiple bathroom amenities so no need to queue.
Review 22:Didn't see the fine print: They charge you to rent bedsheets a whopping 60 SEK. They don't allow you to bring a sleeping bag and who travels and brings their own bedsheets? I thought that was ridiculous. The rooms were also very cold for it being minus 8 degrees outside.
Review 23:The location
Review 24:The bathrooms and toilets are all on one side of the hostel and if your room is on the other side, you may find it irritating.
Review 25:I think the location is the best part of this hostel. Very close to the train station and tot the university. Staff were friendly. Breakfast options were very limited, but okay-ish.
Review 26:- Needing to rent sheets (60sek) and towel (20sek) was a bit of a down point. Although you could bring your own, few people travel with linen.- wifi worked well but was sometimes a bit hard to get connection in the room and tv room)
Review 27:- The logistics were great: it's situated at less than 10min walking from the station and the same when it comes to the town centre.- Free wifi is also a perk - Bathrooms and showers were clean and never crowded
Review 28:Non professional staff that blaims bookingsites for their troubles with bookings and seem to feel that customers should accept being moved around from room to room at any time like cattle, after them having sorted their double booking of your bed/room. They falsely claim you agreed to be directed to a substitute room from where you'd be urged to move from at any time. If one had agreed to this they would hardly have to knock on the door at 7-8 pm to inform you that you were directed to the "wrong room" and therefor must move. The customer is asked to have understanding for their troubles and expected to have acceptance for such practice because of that it is a hostel and because of the price level of their rooms. Yet they themselves show no sympathy for a guests need to rest after a long travel and get upset and react defensively to customer feedback. No lockers where to store luggage/valuables. Common rooms need a more thorough cleaning.Toilets smell urine and stoppers in some bathroom drains (these ones having malodor as well) have been removed.
Review 29:The improved treatment of the customer - because of an upcoming review? Location
Review 30:It's located very good, not far away from the station and the main shopping street. But you could hear the music of the taco bar across the street...
Review 31:First, there were no blinds on the windows, so was woken up at 3:30am when the sun came up... This is Sweden, couldn't imagine why there weren't covers for the windows in summer. I came to get a good night's rest, which didn't happen because of this inconvenience. Also, the price for a private room was insane. Although it was reasonably nice for a hostel, was not anywhere near worth 500 sek/night (roughly 80usd), especially with a shared bathroom.
Review 32:Was exceptionally clean for a hostel and the staff was helpful
Review 33:Not excessively clean but -hey- is a hostel
Review 34:Easy going, good location and quite cheap
Review 35:Pretty basic but expected as per description
Review 36:Good location, common toilets/showers always clean, common washing machine/dryer free of charge
Review 37:Sound from cars on the road
Review 38:Good location,reasonable rate, clean
Review 39:Bedroom
Review 40:Empathy of owners and location
Review 41:Small room
Review 42:I had to sleep with earplugs, because I could hear our neighbours and everything in the hallway.
Review 43:Location is great and good kitchen.
Review 44:Great location near everything. Kitchen is well equipped. Entire hostel was clean and nicely decorated.
Review 45:Plain and dull, but comfortable enough. A bit pricey for the little room we had.
Review 46:Everything was good, but the noisy street...
Review 47:Spacious accommodation
Review 48:wifi not working so well (last room of the corridor)
Review 49:Location, value for money
Review 50:smell from food and the kitchen entered into my bedroom
Review 51:location
Review 52:Great value for money! Close to amenities and really friendly staff.
Review 53:Not clean. I did NOT SHOWER
Review 54:Good bed.
Review 55:I liked everything, kitchen, bedroom, staff, bathrooms, free coffee, breakfast, street, not far from station.
Review 56:noisy rooms for those facing the road. better windows could solve the problem
Review 57:Great location, clean, nice bath rooms and shower places.
Review 58:Music from the bar in front of the hostel.
Review 59:Very clean, nice staff.
Review 60:bed sheets aren't included in the price. Breakfast price is not correct, I paid aprox 6€ per day
Review 61:Very noisy: from the room I could ear the other guests speaking in the corridor or in the breakfast-room very early in the morning as well as late in the night. Moreover, a Mexico-Pub right in front of the window of my room was constantly playing music. Because of the loud music, it was not possible to leave the window of the room open.
Review 62:The staff was excellent; extremely helpful and nice people. The location was also perfect. Right in the centre of the city and not far from the main station. Wi-fi worked also very well. Free coffee and the highly appreciated :)
Review 63:The room (single bed) was a bit small and I would recommend to provide a multi-outlet power strip, since 2 power outlets (of which one is already occupied by the bedside lamp) are way to few for all the electronic devices one is travaling with nowadays.
Review 64:The staff was really nice and helpful in all matters...the kitchen was very good equipped, everything one could ask for, and the coffee was for free and available 24/7! Everything was very clean and the possibility to use the laundry mashine + dryer for free was also highly appreciated.
Review 65:Room was a little dark - more to do with the placement of the window than anything else really.
Review 66:Pretty much everything, easily the best hostel I've ever stayed in. Impeccably clean throughout, which is what I generally value highest, and great amenities, including free coffee and tea on tap all day.
Review 67:Staff was rarely present at the desk, and often had to be tracked down to ask for help. Traffic noise can get loud at certain times during the night.
Review 68:Hostel has a great location in downtown Uppsala, less than a 10-minute walk from Uppsala Central Station.
Review 69:The room was not so soundproof so you could hear when someone was in the shared kitchen.
Review 70:Comfortable beds, new and nice bathroom, great location near both Uppsala central station and city.
Review 71:The staff were loud and and didn't stop till after midnight. It was not safe. Both my daughter and myself had men try to force the shower doors open when we were in them. This is not a safe place for women traveling. We were stopped and questioned multiple times about our itinerary.
Review 72:The rooms were clean and the best possible location to transit and attractions.
Review 73:Website says they rent bikes but they don'T.
Review 74:Nice clean rooms and washroom/shower area. In the heart of thecity and great location from Central Station. Free coffee/tea is anice touch.
Review 75:There is no elevator, which takes you to the hostel (first floor). So, the access isn't very easy with heavy luggage. But there is a small lift for wheel chairs.
Review 76:The hostel is very nice and clean. I like the facilities, especially the kitchen and the TV room. The location of the hostel is in the city centre and you can reach it by a 10 minute walk from the train station.
Review 77:carrying the luggage all the way its hard, theres no plattform or something similar.
Review 78:the beds are really comfortable.the kitchen its great. The location its excellent
