Reviews for Royal Dearborn Hotel & Convention Center

Review 1:Safe is missing in the rooms. Unacceptable! The fitness center is dated and many facilities were under maintenance. I hope to find them repaired next time I will come in Dearborn. A smoking cabin for smokers (true, in the world there are smokers too) could be welcome, specially on winter time.

Review 2:The lobby and the elevators zone is Impressive. Personel (from the receptionist to the valets) is friendly and helpful.

Review 3:Stains on furniture, shredded carpets, wifi free, but weak signal would not allow us to use it from our room, our breakfast tray was still on the hall floor 7 hours after breakfast, broken hair dryer, several outlets broken. We frequent this facility often but will be searching for another regular hotel for our family after this visit.

Review 4:Location, only here because of this location and the nature of our trip.

Review 5:Refrigerator costs per day No microwave available Microwave & fridge should be complimentary with the room

Review 6:Room was clean Comfortable bed Nice view Hot tub/pool

Review 7:The first room they checked me in have bedbugs, I got bites all over my body. I couldn't sleep all night, I complained so they changed the room for me. Everything is so old and outdated, when I showed the manager the bites so came back with cream and when I checked out, I was charged for it. I asked to speak to the manager and the general manager, they weren't in yet. They promised I will get a call, but no calls yet.

Review 8:The restaurant

Review 9:Bathroom had black stuff by the drain, was disappointed that the restaurant was not for the public. That's why we picked this hotel

Review 10:Beds and room are Very clean, and comfortable.

Review 11:The carpet are filthy, the furniture was broken and the light broke off when a staff member turn it on the light. I had to change room three times because the 11th floor air vent was infested with some kind of bug that would bite you at night. I had to ask for a floor change and the manager came as basically implied that I was lying.

Review 12:The proximity to the office and the mall. nothing more.

Review 13:The room wasn't all that great in comparison to what I paid before and not very quiet the toilet and drains gurgled all night and I can hear a lot of stuff in the hallway.

Review 14:The lobby in the facility downstairs is very pretty

Review 15:Door lock didn't work properly and we lost 30-40 minutes getting into our room. Not welcomed since it was late.

Review 16:Staff super helpful and accommodating. Very good breakfast at in-house restaurant.

Review 17:The staff were amazingly friendly, great valets and nice facility. The rooms were average. Beds comfortable, bathroom was small. Pool area is small. No fridge in room, way over priced snacks in gift shop. I would stay again but prepare better.

Review 18:We could not connect to wifi from our rooms. The pool area is too small. We were charged for 2 nights during our stay but only stayed for 1 night.

Review 19:The spacious rooms The view The location

Review 20:Nothing

Review 21:Really bad service my name along with my reservation was not found I waited one hour at the front desk with my exsostice 8 months old wife and 3 years old it was very bad Hotel

Review 22:Needs to be upgraded. Pretty plain in center area. Needs more information about tourist things in the area with maps available. Too much goose poop for me.

Review 23:It was close to the Henry Ford Museum

Review 24:Stayed 2 nights, first night woke up to take a shower handle broke off in tub. Had somewhere to go so had no shower. Fixed it while we were gone, woke up 2nd morning to take a shower and the tub wouldn't drain stood in 6 inches of water. Hair dryer didn't work, went down to check out asked for a small compensation and clerk was very sweet but said manager would call. Still haven't heard from manager and no compensation.

Review 25:Restaurant was nice.

Review 26:My boy friend n I got bit by something... He is being treated under doctors care .. Room was not the the I reserved I booked a king. Was givin s double Had a rotted banana under sink. My floor was so noisy with families n kids. Not happy at all

Review 27:We were late coming back to our room after checkout time & had to pay $50 to add on 2 hours. We we're running in a marathon that day so did not know for sure when we would make it back. I don't mind paying a fee for staying later but $50 is a lot for 2 hours.

Review 28:Comfortable room,

Review 29:Strongely disapponted. At the check out time, we was noticed that the room we ocupied for two night, was empty for the hotel records and for this reasons they don't clean the room. Our invoice still pending to further investigation.

Review 30:Location was realy great.

Review 31:Hotel would not just give us a cart to bring our luggage in. We had to pay them if we wanted a luggage cart. Bathtub was dirty with stains in it and hairs on the wall. There were 2 pills on the floor which I'm very glad I found since I have an extremely curious 9 month old crawling around. Also, I like to put blankets on the floor for the baby to crawl around on, and the blankets had crusty stains on them. 2 out of 3 treadmills did not work. Pool is freezing cold. Wi fi in our room did not work at all. One of the worst experiences I've had in awhile.

Review 32:Conveniently located about less than 15 minutes away from Detroit. Right next to a shopping mall and restaurants.

Review 33:The housekeeper toke a valuable thing belongto me from my room & when i spoke to the hotel manager they deny and i report a police about that which is a bad reputation for the hotel.

Review 34:*We had a door connecting our room to the room beside us; this door was very thin and the other visitor got up extremely early and stayed up late watching tv (which we could hear clearly) *The toilet would run for several minutes after it was flushed. *The bed had thin blankets and small pillows considering the bed was a king size. *The cafe we visited for breakfast once only. It was 4$ for a sausage breakfast sandwich that was previously frozen and we had to heat up ourselves. We also found out that the toaster and microwave cannot be on at the same time with out it short circuiting. *The lunch/dinner buffet was reasonably priced, but offered a small selection of foods. *There was no book in the hotel room with information regarding the hotel services, etc and what's around the hotel to visit.

Review 35:* Located within walking distance (right across the street) from a large mall with decent stores (forever 21, hot topic, h&m, etc). *Near a variety of restaurants to eat or order from.

Review 36:Only thing I didn't like was lack of snack options. The soda machines didn't work, went to a different floor and those soda machines didn't work either.

Review 37:Great looking hotel! Friendly staff and comfy beds

Review 38:Not enough gathering places to visit as a group. Houskeeping was not the best throughout the hotel. Hall carpet needs replaced, fraying and loose. Safety!!!

Review 39:Quiet and comfortable.

Review 40:Hot water in sink was intermittent and bathroom was slightly below average for the type of hotel.

Review 41:Rooms were slightly above average in decor and amenities compared to comparable hotels.

Review 42:I can't say anything negative about the hotel.

Review 43:Staff was wonderful from Heather in Sales, (showing us a room) toKimberly and Richelle at the Front Desk. Friendly ---welcoming----andvery kind. They all bent over backwards to accommodate us after we leftthe Dearborn Inn after only one evening of a three-nite stay. I hadoriginally booked with the Royal Dearborn and cancelled it when I wasable to get accommodations at the Dearborn Inn because on-line they hadtold me nothing was available. When I called the Inn, I was told theydidn't have a King, but could give us a Queen. Very tiny room andnot clean. Poor lighting, no counter space.AC Vents all coated with awet black gunk, that I wiped off immediately, along with bubbly wallsand wet windowsill. A room can be small, but a small room needs to beclean. We knew immediately that we had made a mistake and returned tothe Royal Deaborn for the remainder of our stay. They even honored ouroriginal reservation quote because they still found it on file. I llefta iphone charger behind and Heather called me this morning to tell methey found it and are mailing it to me. :)And Giulio and Sons was outstanding for a nice dinner on Friday night. What a special place and GREAT food. So much for numbers ratings. I think the Inn had an 8.3 and you were a 7.6. So off the mark! My husband described the Dearborn Inn - Regency Hyatt lobby and Motel 6 interior.

Review 44:1St room wasn't even a room and then it took forever to get usanother room..

Review 45:The bartender was very nice and very informative.. She took very goodcare of us!!

Review 46:Double charged! Mistakes happen, but its annoying that they can't instantly undo the charge. Deposit system is a joke, can take up to 2 weeks for it to return to your account, won't accept a cash deposit

Review 47:Clean, luxury rooms. Good location. Lovely bar staff

Review 48:Booking made no mention of a deposit so that limited my funds for the trip and now 3 days later I'm still waiting for my refund of my deposit ridiculous!

Review 49:Overall great experience

Review 50:the check-in line lasted 42 minutes and there was inefficiencies that could be addressed to limit chit-chat at the counter, socializing, and additional conversation that isn't timely.

Review 51:Too many people were checking in at the same time so it took too long and we were 45 minutes late for our event. They did, however, come around with smoothies and cookies while we were waiting. So that was nice

Review 52:Property has changed hands many times over the years. Now maybe bought out by a hedge fund. Property much improved since Adoba has left after not paying property taxes, etc.

Review 53:See above

Review 54:Was disappointed that the pool was FREEZING, and the hot tub wasn't working. Carpet is being replaced, but currently it is poor. The staff was wonderful, and the room was clean and sufficient for our trip. I would recommend.

Review 55:Not being able to access what used to be the revolving rooftop restaurant. I'd pay to go up there for a drink. Several others echoed my sentiment on this trip.

Review 56:I grew up in Dearborn at the time this hotel was built, and always wanted to stay here. It's changed a lot on the inside from what I remember. We didn't make use of the facilities - pool, gym, etc... - but we did see several wet kids walking through the lobby with towels.

Review 57:The first hotel receptionist-we could not understand her. She talked fast with a soft voice. She had to repeat herself twice. Our room was like a tin box and the view was of the roof. We were woken up at 9:00 AM by pounding music down stairs in the lobby. Not everyone likes that type of music and especially not at 9 AM! It was not easy to get to the hotel if you are on Michigan Avenue.

Review 58:The bed was comfortable.

Review 59:No ice machine on my floor. Had to go down a floor to find one. The tub drained slowly while I was showering. The security lock on door wouldn't lock. Had to put a chair in front of door.

Review 60:Easy to book and check in and out.

Review 61:Initial check-in was poor because the room we were given was not made up and was a mess. Front desk staff were very apologetic and gave us another room and complimentary breakfasts. Also, some of the decor, such as carpets, paint getting a little worn out.

Review 62:Breakfast was excellent. Building is very nicely designed.

Review 63:The hot tub was being refinished, the rooms were very small and there wasn't a mini fridge. The pillows were way to fluffy I woke up with server pain down my arm and couldn't move my neck it was like I had whiplash or something.

Review 64:The entry way and lobby and the architecture is astonishing. The glass elevators are tons of fun my 5yr loved watching the lights in the 60ft chandler and there snack shop was amazing as well as the staff.

Review 65:The only thing was the tub in the washroom doesn't drain quick, so the tub fills up about quarter of the way during a shower.

Review 66:When we arrived late at night we got checked in within 5 mins. The staff are very friendly. Requested for a later check-out and was given it with no hassle. Housekeeping staff was very friendly. Room was nice and PERFECT location literally 3 min walk to Fairlane mall ! And 20 min drive to the Tigers stadium and close to restaurants. Entrance is beautiful. Defentily going back when I drop by the city.

Review 67:The beds were super uncomfortable. The staff was not very friendly. The day manager at the front desk was very nice. Friendly staff wasfar and between

Review 68:The pool area was the best part of the hotel

Review 69:We needed extra towels...temp control in the room was not working properly and the extra pillow and blanket in the closet for the roll away had to be replaced

Review 70:The staff, service and atmosphere were excellent. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the roll away we requested ahead was already placed in the room and my grandson reported he wanted to take it home he was so comfortable. The shower was just right in temp and pressure in seconds and the room was immaculate.

Review 71:The hotel is in need of ongoing renovation. Carpeting was worn and sometimes rips were taped over.

Review 72:Our room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel was a good value for the price. We would stay there again.

Review 73:Inside the rooms are completely outdated and not very clean as other hotels are. The room smelled like an old closet. The shower had rust stains and was very small.

Review 74:The hotel is beautiful on the outside, the Common areas are elegant and clean.

Review 75:The hotels rental computers would not work and I need to use one for business. Very few restraunts near this hotel - the hotel restraunt was to expensive.

Review 76:This is a lovely hotel nearThe Henry Ford Museum. Everything about the hotel is excellent.

Review 77:This hotel has really gone down, the rooms are dirty, staff is argumentative, the rooms have an odor, they ran out of towels. It was just an unpleasant stay. This was my fourth time staying at this facility and this was the worse. I will not be returning unless major changes occur. The staff needs customer service training, it was obvious they did not have hotel management training or degrees. I can say that the housekeeper attempted to be accommodating. The front desk staff just lacks customer service skills.

Review 78:I always like Nancy at the restaurant, she is just wonderful. The other staff at the restaurant was pleasant as well.

Review 79:My reservation never made it to the front desk. I was booked for 2 nights but they only reserved me for 1 so I had to be moved and someone took my toothpaste Cause I left everything in the room thinking u had it for 2 nights

Review 80:The front desk person was very friendly and helpful

Review 81:This hotel was incredible for the price I paid. Very convenient to anything in the Dearborn area. Shopping and restaurants close by. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent. Booking . yeah!

Review 82:I returned to a room that appeared to have been cleaned, but when I turned the sheets down, there was actual dirt under the covers. I called for assistance with this problem and they had security bring me bedding to make up my own bed. This was just one negative issue I had.

Review 83:I liked that the location is near a mall and restaurants. I loved the chandeliers.

Review 84:Staff didn't go out of way to help when I had water leak out of shower. They just gave me towels to clean it myself. Walls must have been thin because heard parties throughout weekend. And they charge 50 daily for incidentals and don't give it back until you leave. That was a surprise.

Review 85:The room service food was very good. Room was clean

Review 86:There was construction that made it challenging to navigate into the complex which would be hard for an out of Towner. I was able to recourse, but with the major inconvenience of entering the complex, the staff should have alerted to the closing off of michigan ave at the time.

Review 87:for what others had poor to say, I found my room to be in great clean condition.

Review 88:Couldn't get the room cool enough - even after adjusting thermostat. Slow draining sinks / tub

Review 89:Very nice lobby and spacious rooms. Clean. Easy to find. Lots of parking.

Review 90:Reception had our booking wrong from what kind of room we booked to how long we were staying and the clerk didn't really act happy to be working the day we checked in.

Review 91:The room was comfortable and the hotel close to where we wanted to be, we were traveling with friends and they accommodated our wishes to be close together.

Review 92:The bathroom lights flickered like a strobe light, the pillows smelled like smoke and left tiny feathers in the hair. Breakfast and food items were way over priced. $4.00 for a pop or oj? $10. For a pot of coffee? for the lack of quality in the rooms, its a bit pricey.

Review 93:Late check out available.

Review 94:There is almost no sense of hospitality and the rooms are pathetically furnished and comes with bed bugs too !!??

Review 95:It's close to my wife's family house.

Review 96:I thought the carpet was way beyond "tired". I was so done. Ripped and dirty.

Review 97:I liked the restaurant and their service. Tres bien! And the room rate was really reasonable.

Review 98:The bathroom needed some attention... The drain in the shower was clogged forcing us to stand in at least three inches of water and there was water dripping (at quite a rapid rate) from the exhaust fan.

Review 99:Free parking

Review 100:Would have been nice to include breakfast or something with your room. And our shower wasn't quite cooperative at first.

Review 101:This place is beautiful. The hotel is gorgeous, and from our room on the 9th floor, the views are amazing. The corridors and elevator were just awesome.

Review 102:The pool was closed down at the time, the pump went out. The WiFi on the upper floor isn't too good at all, and the road evergreen was out at the time, made driving very hard.

Review 103:The price was very good for the hotel and its luxury, the staff was very helpful and pleasant, it is a cool looking hotel near all of the sites to visit. In general I would recommend it - as a nice stay.....

Review 104:We definitely did not like the fact that the restaurant with the 360 view was no longer there as advertised which is the main reason why we decided to book our vacation there. Pool reeks of chlorine and very out dated. Gym was pretty cool though. Bathroom way too small for 2.

Review 105:The outdoor lawn, very nice grass.

Review 106:The hotel was nice and very clean. I will say they need a better coffee pot in the room and better WiFi services. For the amount of money they charge they should have complimentary breakfast. Overall they were good.

Review 107:The observatory at the top was shut, it did feel the rooms were a little in need of refurbishment (a few stains, damaged chair etc.) but everything was functional.

Review 108:The hotel lobby is really cool and it seems to be in a safe area next to a mall with a food court.

Review 109:The pillows were so flimsy it was hard to get comfortable. For that reason my sleep was reatless. So, I can't recall if the bed was comfortable.

Review 110:The room was nice and the hotel was quiet.

Review 111:The wifi did not work and when we called the front desk to inquire as to why, they sent the call off shore to Australia. This was handled very poorly by the staff.

Review 112:I didn't like how expense the breakfast was and there was not atten to detail with my breakfast. For $15.00 a plate I would expect some type of greenery atleast in my plate.

Review 113:I loved all the space. The rooms were very spacious. Don't let the other reviews fool you. The pool and jacuzzi was lovely. The view of the bridge at night was breathtaking!

Review 114:The kids that ran above my head all night for 2 nights n a row. The busy signal everytime i called the front desk or room service which caused me to use my cell. I asked for extra pillows and towels when i reserved the room and didnt get any which caused me to call the front desk which only sent up towels the first trip. The toliet kept running all day all night. The nob to turn the water on in the shower had a piece broken off. Noone cleaned my room after the first night of stay but knocked on my door just before check out yo clean the room??? The hot tub was out of order. The pool looked nothing like the pics i saw online. It was small and dark (not enough lighting). It was too many unsupervised children in the pool room throwing towels. Shoes and etc in the pool as well as curing and disrespecting others that were relaxing at the pool area.

Review 115:Staff was nice

Review 116:The room wasn't very clean other than bed. Dust and dirt that had clearly been around a long time, behind nightstand, vents in bathroom.

Review 117:Staff and service

Review 118:Handicapped parking was a far trek and there was no sign of the advertised valet parking. Staffing was below bare minimum. Ice machine was not working, and dispenser had old chicken bones in it (beyond sanitation, that was creepy.) I've travelled extensively, and have never seen a facility that had such global maintenance problems. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, but there is no way whatsoever this venue should ever have been rated a 4 star. Two star would be generous.

Review 119:The bed was comfortable. The architecture was interesting. The location is very good for anyone wanting to do heavy mall activity or some of the local venues such as the Henry Ford.

Review 120:The location is great-just off the freeway, in the Fairlane mall so lots of restaurant and other shopping options in addition to the hotel's offerings.

Review 121:Coffee in the room tasted dreadful. No free coffee in the lobby. But for almost $4 could buy a cup of black coffee. And this wasn't available until 6:00 am when the shop opened.

Review 122:Great location centered amid the Ford engineering and DTP production facility. Shopping and many restaurants near by. Excellent food on site, but priced for the captive audience. Comfortable rooms, but could stand to be refreshed.

Review 123:Elevator access and floor plan means a long trip to your room. Exterior roads/sidewalks are in need of severe repairs.

Review 124:Fascinating building layout. Great food. Very clean. Across highway from Ford Motor Co HQ. Open vistas. Easy, close and free parking (outdoors).

Review 125:Staff was rude. Lady said I couldn't check In because I was only 20! When I booked it the confirmation page said I must be 18 and older so I printed it out for proof and still denied it! She made me get my gf and put me in back of the line! The room was very small for the price!!!

Review 126:Bed was comfortable, room was clean and nice place!

Review 127:The facilty was nice, clean and had very courteous employees but it was -9 outside and the temp in both of my rooms ( I had to switch rooms because of the temp ) never went above 70 degrees needless to say I just bundled up. I'll come back in the summer months when temp isint as bad the giant glass wall window probably didn't help with the inside temp but it was gorgeous!!!

Review 128:arrived tues PM and there were dirty dishes in the hall on the 8th Fl. When I checked out on Thurs AM the same dirty dishes were still in the same places.

Review 129:My contacts with staff were minimal, but the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The Resturant was excellent reasonably priced, and was very, very good.

Review 130:The free wi-fi was great but you could not get the service in the ballrooms which is where I spent most if my time. The pool is small for the size of the hotel.

Review 131:The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff at the desk was awesome! They couldn't find my reservation, but I had my printout so they took care of it promptly. They were also able to give me numbers for pizza delivery and have the delivery guy my cell when he arrived so my girls could swim.

Review 132:I believe it they are just too expensive the rooms cost too much and are not worth the price that you pay to sleep there there's a lot of commotion and ruckus at night and in the hallways makes it hard to sleep. my stays at this hotel have decreased a lot recently.

Review 133:I have always liked the beauty of the hotel and the staff is usually very nice.

Review 134:Tub had rust, heat wasn't working I had to call 3 times to get someone to fix it even after that it took 2 hrs to kick in.

Review 135:Location and lobby very nice.

Review 136:Upon checking in it took is over 20 minutes to actually hey into our room because the key didn't work. By the time security got up to us we had basically made fort in the hallway. The website states there is a refrigerator in the room. We purposely bought things to go into a fridge. They had refrigerators at an extra cost that was never disclosed to us. The room wad sub par for the price. A giant pink stain on the floor by the bed was pretty gross. The last straw was checking out. My card was charged an extra $50.00 plus the room cost like they said upon arrival. After I checked out a second room charge was again taken out of my bank. This over drew my account, the manager was new and had no idea how to fix it, and following one bill from the bar my boyfriend was charged an additional 4 times for things wet never purchased. This hotel robs you blind and doesn't make up for it. Oh except being offered a free coffee for inconvenience. I would have been better off at a best western. So if you like false advertised, dirty rooms, and extra charges to your bank account then by all means this is the place for you!!

Review 137:The only thing we liked about this hotel was the restaurant. The wait staff was wonderful and food was excellent.

Review 138:I liked everything about the hotel. It would be good to have at least one other restaurant within in the hotel. Only having one coffee shop open Sunday morning made for long lines when the hotel was fully booked with various groups having activities on the weekend..

Review 139:Large comfortable room with enough outlets for business devices. WiFi free and ready to use in room. Large shopping mall with many stores and a variety of places to eat which is located off the same circular roadway as the hotel. Long drives and traffic is not a problem if you are short of time between business meetings. Location is close to Highway #39 that connects to other expressways that lead to various tourist sites.
