Reviews for STF Uppsala Hostel Kvarntorget
Review 1:Staff doing room renovations in the early hours of the morning! Was woken at 7 to the sound of a staple gun...
Review 2:The hotel was warm, and the kitchen was pretty good.
Review 3:When I booked the room at stf Uppsala Hostel Kvarntorget withBooking.com, I was told that I did not have to pay for the room untilthe end of my stay. When I arrived, I was asked to pay for the threedays of my stay in advance (they would not have allowed me to stayotherwise). My friend who met me there was also forced to pay inadvance. So we paid for the room for 3 days. The room was nothing likethe pictures. It was small with metal bunk beds that were short with nowindows. I kept bumping my head on the upper bunk bed as the spacebetween the lower and upper bed was very short. The room also had nowindow to the outside world, so it was dark and dirty. After the firstnight, a friend offered me to stay at his parent's house and I tookhim up on the offer. I told the Hostel that we would not be staying forthe last two days. The Manager of the Hostel said I had to callBooking.com so they would be able to re-list the bed for sale before Icould get my money back. So I called Booking.com so they could re-listthe bed, and I told them I would like to get my money back from the twodays that I would not be staying there. Booking.com said they had tocall the hostel in order to get permission to be able to pay me back. They called the Hostel. The hostel said that even though I cancelled mystay with booking.com, they would not give back my money as it was abusy weekend and if they allowed one person to receive their money backthey would have to give the money back to everyone who cancelled theirstay. I was on the phone for about three hours calling back and forthfrom the hostel and booking.com. I believe that booking.com and theHostel have a pact to trick people into paying in advance and not givingtheir money back when they decide to leave such unaccommodatingpremises. I disliked everything about the staff of the Hostel and theycustomer service of booking.com. My rating for Booking.com and the stfUppsala Hostel Kvarntorget is very...
Review 4:Nothing!
Review 5:Car parking is not free as suggested in the hostel's description. This was annoying and staff not particularly bothered. One room was being lived in by a family (and possibly more) which was very strange.
Review 6:Only 10mins walk from centre.
Review 7:Stayed in the youth-hostel part. Basic good breakfast. Due to few other guest, it was comfortable to cook and to use the other facilities, which were rather simple. The room was simple, too - but clean. beds comfortable and it was very silent in the room.
Review 8:My check in was 12:30 so I get the my card and started to look for my room then finally I found it. The thing is in the same room there was 3 females I was wondering if am in right place but my card saying this is the room. After a while one of those females asked the workers there to get me out cause according to her she is not used to sleep in the same room with men (she mentioned something about religion stuff) it was awkward moment to me.Then one of the workers told me that I should leave this room and he said that he will find me another room but he didn't .
Review 9:They wont give us our money back, even when we didnt stayed for the night. they agreed to do it, but after contacting the booking.com they didnt want to return our money.
Review 10:the rooms are very small and is not sound prof, you allways hear other rooms noises. In the basment there are some storage that make plenty noises in the early morning....the kitchen is dirty but still ok...
Review 11:The staff, location and sorounding area, price
Review 12:Not in the best area of town, according to the friend I was visiting in Uppsala. Difficult to tell who was staff and who was traveller as well. Uncomfortable lounge atmosphere.
Review 13:We found the kitchen very 'smelly', lot of flies, not very well equipped (1 glass, 2 cups... very empty cupboards). Refrigerators completely full and not very clean. Didn't really feel ok to use...
Review 14:Comfort fine, excellent wi-fi
Review 15:There were garbage in the bathroom bin. They didn't program correctly our cards, so they had to reprogram them the second day after we weren't able to open our door. Luckily we realizes this before 9pm and there were still someone in reception
Review 16:Only 10 minutes walking to the city centre. Breakfast very complete and good.
Review 17:The bathrooms need a plumber. The showers had either too high or too low water pressure, or the temperature was difficult to regulate. The shower doors did not appear clean, otherwise the cleanliness was ok. In my room there seemed to once have been hooks on the walls for hanging clothes - why not replace them? The wall next to my bed had some stains I'd rather not want to identify, they could have been wiped off.
Review 18:Comfortable bed, good wifi. Personnell was very helpful via e-mail when I contacted them about arriving outside reception hours. My room did not have a window which was a bit weird, but on the other hand that way i did not hear any noise from the streets. The door was solid. I tried the breakfast buffet once, it was nice.
Review 19:Kitchen wasn't very clean and it smells bad but this is because of the guests who cook there. For two weeks they didn't change our bad sheets.
Review 20:We had a room with private bathroom and children cot even tough we booked room with shared bathroom. Location is really good, 10 min walking from city center and central station. Easy to find with 3 food stores near the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay.
Review 21:my neighbors tried to enter my room several time even after i put no disturbance label so you should lock your room. high sexy sounds from my next room as the wall is very thin. uncleaned area in front of the hotel and appear like area for cigarettes and drink window look to the hall so no sun and no fresh air in the room
Review 22:helpful staff
Review 23:It seems the hostel is used also for immigrants. You have to pay for parking in case you departure after 8 am.
Review 24:We needed quick cheap hostel and it was.
Review 25:neighborhood is awful Adress is incorrect (for tomtom, will send you to another part of town)
Review 26:Booking for a shared bathroom and getting your own private one. Friendly staff. Good price quality ratio
Review 27:The matresses and beds were disgusting, with blood stains in the matresses, hairs in the bed. Also, the cleanliness of the room was poor: some slimey stuff on the walls, soap in communal bathroom finished. The place itself is quite depressing looking and is located on a depressing square out of town. They state free parking but in fact there are only 3 free parking spaces so not unlimited at all. We did get some money back after we complained about everything, but that didnt make up for the poor experience we had.
Review 28:The kitchen was under reperation, too many people for a too small kitchen, peolple was allowed not to clean up from cooking and eating, the kitchen was unsavoury
Review 29:The location is what it is.. and even with updated GPS the Hostel is harder to find what you expected (!) In shower room the gaskets of shower-hose were dried and totally broken.
Review 30:The lobby staff is friendly, and they have good attitude in serving finnish travellers. Even the cleaning ladies salute you :)
Review 31:Breakfast average. No towels provided. Showers average. No indication that my initial room booked with window and private bath was given out to reception...but the young Receptionist fixed it....it's Sweden !best regardsto him Joakim.
Review 32:The young Receptionist very helpful and friendly.
Review 33:On the website it says that there is free parking. Which is not!! You have to pay, but because there wasn't police control in four months they say it is free.
Review 34:Staff was nice, room was clean, good facilities (without the parking)
Review 35:Didn't seem to be a radiator in my room. Very thin blinds so my room was never dark enough for sleep. My room was next to the shared bathroom, and the cleaners would wake me up at 6am every morning when they - very loudly - cleaned the facilities.
Review 36:New staff wasn't very knowledgable Reserved room wasn't available
Review 37:Clean rooms Breakfast OK Problem resolution & customer service recovery was very correct
Review 38:Very supportive staff that easy your stay in the hotel and city. Good location at walking distance to downtown, train station, etc. Complimentary hot drinks two times a day make feel good at cold rainy weather.
Review 39:Some rooms look at internal area of the hotel.
Review 40:Very kind and supportive staff to easy your stay at the facility and the city. Good location at walking distance to down town, train station, etc. Free hot drinks two times a day - very charming at bad weather.
Review 41:in summer the rooms that go to the inner court yard are not ideal as it can get quite hot and there's no external window. But the other rooms that go to the outside are just fine!
Review 42:very friendly & helpful staff, quiet and pleasant place; if you're staying for more than just a night - the kitchen is pretty good, too.
Review 43:Dirty bathroom Sticky floor in the kitchen Not so safe neighbourhood
Review 44:Best service in Sweden Very helpfull staff Close to old town and rail station Easily to find
Review 45:Bed linen not clean, with marks, towels not provided
Review 46:kitchen and value for money
Review 47:Very friendly staff
Review 48:nobody could explain which extras were in the upgrade
Review 49:good breakfast, excellent internet
Review 50:The bathroom cleanliness, and the temperature of the water in the shower went from freezing to boiling. No control.
Review 51:Price
Review 52:No window, but in winter is no difference.
Review 53:Good quality for normal price, helpfull staff, tidy room.
Review 54:room without window facing outside
Review 55:very kind staff
Review 56:No window in my room
Review 57:Location and value
Review 58:Some bathrooms and toilet was not well maintained. Kitchen could be better
Review 59:Calm, good location.
Review 60:The mattresses were dingy, the toilets stopped up, the bathrooms and the kitchen were dirty.
Review 61:Not much!
Review 62:They did not clean my room in all my stay
Review 63:Diverse and abundant breakfast
Review 64:Group of noisy school kids (but mercifully quiet by bed time) and the mess they left in the kitchen.
Review 65:Friendly staff and comfortable beds
Review 66:Locatoin yes. But others are not worth of money
Review 67:thin thin walls
Review 68:adequate accomodation
Review 69:Room with window inside is not a good choice.Wi-fi was poor.
Review 70:Comfortable bed, clean bathrooms, quiet place.
Review 71:I found nothing I disliked.
Review 72:The pleasant and helpful staff.
Review 73:The common kitchen is not clean .
Review 74:Courteous , smiling co-operative staff can speak english
Review 75:bus 3 takes you directly to the university
Review 76:The staff
Review 77:There was no window for getting fresh air on some rooms of the hotel. Otherwise rest was very good.
Review 78:wifi is not so efficient in the room.
Review 79:nice staff, convenient place, good food..
Review 80:Bit far from the town centre
Review 81:Well equiped kitchen, clean (shared) bathrooms and toilets
Review 82:Room was a bit hot and sounds from the common area a bit loud to the room.
Review 83:Great value, over all a very nice place, seems more hotel than hostel.
Review 84:The stuff is very very nice and patient. Also,The room is very clean. I like the big windows. Besides, it is also very close to the center.
Review 85:Common facilities (bathrooms, kitchen) would have benefited from more frequent cleaning.
Review 86:Helpful staff, good location, decent price (for Sweden). Clean rooms, free wifi.
Review 87:The hotel has a limited number of parking places and it looked to me that occasionally people not connected to the hotel were using these parking slots.
Review 88:The bedrooms are basic but clean and well-insulated from noise from other rooms.
Review 89:Very good location. Very positive, helpful staff. Very tasty and plentiful breakfast which helped to make Hostel Kvarntorget excellent value for money.
Review 90:-We ordered and payed for a duo-bed room and insted we got bunk-beds. We couldn't switch rooms. - Very expensive breakfast for a youth hostel - No youth hostel "atmosphere"
Review 91:-Location close to train station -Easy access to key-kard -Option for a storage room
Review 92:the big door banging sound near the toilet (next to Rm 17) was really too noisy and could wake me up even i was sleeping in the far end of the room !
Review 93:i made a request of having a quiet room upon making my booking and the hotel staff have really arranged a quiet room for me - thanks a lot !
Review 94:They didn't have the room I had booked, gave me another one for the same price. No towels, heating not working, TV not working.
Review 95:Wi-Fi working well, easy to connect.
Review 96:Lack of outdoor windows in room. There was no radiator to dry the towel. You can hear noise if you are staying in the room on the ground floor next to the dining room. There was also noise from the ventilation in the toilet all night.
Review 97:Close to the center of the city. Clean and nice. Restaurant and dining room in the same building.
Review 98:My bed was creaking. There was no window in my room. Despite of the fact that my room was airconditioned, in the morning there was quite heavy and not fresh air.
Review 99:I was satisfied. The staff was very nice and always ready to help. The hostel was always clean. Good facilities.
Review 100:The rooms all have windows inside the building. So they face the corridor. We just kept the curtains shut and we were out during the day anyway.
Review 101:Due to construction next door the water was off one afternoon. It didn't bother us but the owner immediately took us next door for a complementary meal at a restaurant. The owners and staff definitely value their customers.
Review 102:The room window faced the interior lobby (no natural light whatsoever), there were no towels (after paying 600kr), the bathroom light and the shower has a power saving system which meant the light going off in the middle of your shower and having to press a button to keep the water running (very unpleasant shower), the duvet on the bed was meant for a single bed and not a double bed (either you or your partner get the duvet but hardly both of you!) and the worst... The guy in reception didn't inform us that we were works in the building and that we were going to be awaken at 8 by the impact of an hydraulic hammer on top of our heads!!! What was suppose to be a nice relaxing day after a three weeks journey through the country turned out to be a disaster.
Review 103:Good price, nice and clean room, nice service in reception
Review 104:Bathrooms were sometimes out of paper, in one case light didn'twork, which meant competition for the two remaining toilets at 2 or 3am. Otherwise they were relatively clean. Our door squeaked loudly, sowhenever someone left in the night to use the bathroom, the other wokeup. Also, doors are heavy and spring-loaded, so slam loudly when peopleleave their rooms.
Review 105:It was clean, bright, comfortable room and beds, and relatively quiet.Very nice design, spacious lobby/cafe/sitting area, good wifieverywhere, decent breakfast, service was friendly and helpful, walkingdistance of 15 minutes to downtown and sights, very reasonable.
Review 106:My room was never made. I do not know if this is the standard, but if it is it should at least be explicited before booking. The room had only one window, looking inside, what was unconfortable.
Review 107:The personal was friendly
Review 108:It seems that the hotel is located in a building which used to be ashop. In the room had no windows to the outside. The rooms overlook the corridor. In the bath water stops flowing in the shower every two minutes (the same problem in two rooms). No nearby covered parking.
Review 109:Bathroom opposite to room 40 need a renovation. No shower working. The water system were y clean face and brusch y teth the crans need new packings. The water was not rining out. Outgoing pipe needed to be cleaned.
Review 110:The breakfast.
Review 111:Some Scottish drunk people with Swedish flags on their cheeks, that tumbled around deadly drunk in the middle o
Review 112:Good for students; flexibility when moving from one room to another.
Review 113:Much noise during the night, people partying next door or a girl in the dorm doing something loudly. Also smelly corridor. The shower I used was usually soaked, slippery floors and messy. The kitchen also did not seem to be large enough for everybody during evenings, as it was very crowded.
Review 114:Very friendly staff and clean overall design
Review 115:The room had a window to the courtyard and did therefore not allow direct entrance of fresh air. At arrival, it took a very long time at the reception before I could check in due to other customers and only one staff member.
Review 116:It was quiet and comfortable.
Review 117:Location is not as central as other hotels and hostels, but it's OK if you don't mind walking about 10 minutes to get to the center of town.
Review 118:Helpful staff. Good kitchen facilities. We were able to fit five people in one room, although it was very tight.
Review 119:Our room opened up into the lobby and the lobby lights were on allnight so the room was a bit bright when trying to sleep even with thecurtains closed.
Review 120:The location was great, easy to get to by automobile and then we couldwalk to the sights of interest which were within walking distance of thehostel. Breakfast was also served early so we were able to eat early andcatch our flight. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 121:The room was very simple. The hostel was not in the center of the city (but not too far). Breakfast was not crazy.
Review 122:I liked the kitchen, the big screen to watch football games. It was quite silent and clean.
Review 123:The bathroom has soap, but no towels. It is difficult to understand why a hotel that costs that much does not provide towels.
Review 124:The hotel/hostel is not far from the train station, something like 15 min walking distance. The room was clean, had a TV and a kettle. The breakfast was basic, nothing special.
Review 125:You have to pay separately for towels(!!), and it is a bit far away fora small town like Uppsala. (10 min walk from city center - not much, andI'm being picky here)
Review 126:For a budget hotel, it was very clean and spacious. Also, the double bedwas nice and comfortable, and the room did not have a bunker feel to it.
Review 127:Many rooms have windows looking into the breakfast room. Thus, they have to be closed all the time making the rooms very dark.
Review 128:asked for double bed, got two singles. shower dirty
Review 129:nice staff
Review 130:Hostel rooms may not have a window. Although, sun dawns at 4am and you may wake up thinking it's 9.
Review 131:The Staff The facilities
Review 132:Bathroom/shower could be better
Review 133:Bed, wi-fi.
