Reviews for Hallmark Inn UC Davis

Review 1:The room was not in the same building where the reception and lobby are. It was less than a minute away but you need to get out of the building then you enter another one. If it was cold or raining it would be an issue for me. My colleague however stayed in the same building although she checked few hours after me.

Review 2:Location

Review 3:No gluten free cereal or snack options for the included breakfast. Having Gluten Free oatmeal, granola and Chex cereal is pretty easy to come by and doesn't taste any different than the regular stuff.

Review 4:Amazingly quiet room for downtown Davis on the weekend. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 5:-The hotel is right next to a train station. On a week night I was awakened multiple times by the train whistle. - The "free breakfast" is actually a voucher for $8.50 at the on-site cafe. -The pool is currently closed, so no pool and no evening reception.

Review 6:-The staff members were very friendly. -The room was very clean. -The common room and reception area are tastefully decorated.

Review 7:Oh my gosh, the pillows were thick foam like things, and the sheets were not even close to being soft. Bed, very uncomfortable!

Review 8:The staff were super nice, and checked up in us to make sure we were happy.

Review 9:Train is nearby and loud. Do make a request for a room away from train

Review 10:Closeness to campus. Free bicycles! Total value with Happy Hour and Breakfast credit. Super convenient and close to everything!

Review 11:Hallway carpet is drab and was poorly chosen when new, now it just makes the hallways seem like a much lesser hotel -- which it isn't! Elevator is noisy and also seems like it's from a much lesser hotel. Neither really affected the experience, but were noticeable.

Review 12:The lobby, the breakfast, the staff, the room and its accoutrements.

Review 13:The breakfast didn't have many options for kids. And had air conditioning problems our first night.

Review 14:The beds were very comfortable, the room was very clean.

Review 15:Nothing to complain about at all.

Review 16:The title sums it up. From booking in to booking out, the whole experience was pleasant. The hotel has a very warm and friendly atmosphere. Every member of staff was pleasant and friendly and made our stay memorable. The room was spacious, light and clean. We were there for seven nights and could find nothing to fault at all.

Review 17:20 minute wait to check in, worn furniture in the rooms, bar across the street...wont stay again..Its just not what i expected....

Review 18:Breakfast was good....

Review 19:The only think I didn't like is that there is no hot tub.

Review 20:My husband and I have stayed at this hotel twice. We have enjoyed our stay both times. They have a great complimentary breakfast. We also love the free drink during their cocktail hour. Staff was very friendly. They even found a shirt we had left and kept it for us until we could pick it up.

Review 21:Coffee maker did not work. The locking system was less secure than most hotel rooms perhaps because of that, I never really felt comfortable in the room. Also my room was in a different building than the office which given the inadequate locks added to my insecurity.

Review 22:Location was central and the bed was comfortable. TV and Internet worked well.

Review 23:Trains were no problem for me. Parking spots are pretty tight, so leave the 60s Cadillac at home.

Review 24:The location is a great way to get the vibe of Davis. A bit hip without pretense, local and friendly. I would recommend The Hallmark to any parent visiting.

Review 25:Smells like cleaning products when you walk in. Maybe a floral scent or fresh baked cookies would be more inviting :)

Review 26:Great location, nice staff, comfortable beds and nice complimentary glass of wine.

Review 27:Location of our room. We were close to the entrance - we could hear the door as people came and went - and our room was right next to the pool so we had to keep everything closed for privacy.

Review 28:Location of hotel

Review 29:The pool was very cold In July. My daughter really wanted to swim after a long road trip but the water was freezing.

Review 30:Loved the location, room was comfy, hotel was beautiful! Great price

Review 31:You could improve the key card envelope, by adding the hotel phone number. I was asked to call to extend my biking hours if needed, but there wasn't a number handy.

Review 32:The availability of free bikes to use was wonderful!

Review 33:Lovely accommodations! We enjoyed our stay very much!

Review 34:Downtown location with parking, comfortable, clean room, friendly helpful staff, good breakfast.

Review 48:Large room. Friendly staff. Downtown Davis.

Review 49:Cooked breakfast

Review 50:Entryway and underground parking seemed akward

Review 51:Bikes,location

Review 52:you can tell it's well-run because the staff are relaxed and happy when mgmt is around!!!

Review 53:The nightstand had not been dusted in months and was covered in dust. The lack of a refrigerator and microwave. The cost was prohibitive compared to the Aggie Inn.

Review 54:The comfort of the bed, quiet, easy accessibility, breakfast.

Review 55:Cost was a bit high.

Review 56:Liked the pool, enjoyed the hot breakfast and especially the manager's reception. Excellent location, right downtown with everything out the door.

Review 57:The Amtrak station is right across the street and the trains kept me awake all night.

Review 58:It is within easy walking distance of many cute little restaurants and it is only a short drive to UC Davis. The breakfast was nice.

Review 59:Stayed to go to Davis med center. Asked front desk how close it was andhe didn't know where this major hospital was. Just thought he shouldknow his city and offer directions. Choose hotel because of compbreakfast and has fridge and microwave in rooms. Then put mom in room wout fridge. Not happy becuz she's diabetic and needs meds in fridge.Called front desk and was told to put meds in fridge at front desk. Hethen called back with a room I asked for and reserved. Just kindafrustrating at first but he fixed it.

Review 60:Nice hotel. Good breakfast. Comfortable!

Review 61:Maid turned the thermostat to 77 degrees!!! We just lowered it when we came in. No need for the tropics.

Review 62:The room was very welcoming and relaxing -- breakfasts were great. I know that the construction will improve the feel of the building.

Review 63:No warning of remodel nor discount; pool too cold to swim and no hot tub, room cramped, trains going by

Review 64:Central location, pool sheltered, breakfast, great sound insulation for trains

Review 65:There were renovations going on at the time but the rooms were stillfull cost and relatively pricy for being so close to a train station. Itwas difficult to breathe on two occasions on account of the paint fumeson the top floors. The elevator was extremely dirty and we had to usethe stairs on many instances. The entire first floor carpets were verydirty. Breakfast was quite poor and served in a tent and often startedservice late. They attempted to make up for the poor situation byextending happy hour which I suspect they felt if they gave away enoughfree alcohol than guests would forget about all the downfalls of theaccommodation. In retrospect if they just offered the rooms for cheaperwhile renovations were on-going, this all would not have seemed so bad.The staff also seemed rundown and not very welcoming. I would say it wasequivalent to many stays I have had in 2-3 star stare locations inEurope at half the cost. Definitely not the type of experience you wouldexpect in America.

Review 66:I liked it a lot the last time I was there just four monthspreviously but it had substantially taken a turn for the worst sincemy previous visit.

Review 67:The rooms were small and the beds were supossed to be queen size butthey were smaller...more like a full...

Review 68:Location...so close to uc davis...breakfast was wonderful! We forgot ouripad and the housekeeper turned it in and the hotel called us immediatlyto let us know!!!!!

Review 69:Room was suppose to be "quiet room" but very noisy as we fronted F Street.

Review 70:Very nice hotel. Location great.

Review 71:close to train breakfast budget poor wifi

Review 72:close to centre and highway

Review 73:I was disappointed the gym was not available.

Review 74:I enjoyed the breakfast area and the different options for the scrambled eggs.

Review 75:rigid about check-in time

Review 76:Great location in a nice town. Free bikes.
