Reviews for First Hotel Linné

Review 1:Restaurant and bar were closed for the time of our visit. We specifically looked for a hotel with a restaurant and bar and there was no mention of their website that it would be closed.

Review 2:Location was great, good breakfast in mornings.

Review 3:Purposely booked because it had a restaurant and bar, closed at 5.30pm the day we arrived and wasn't open again for the whole time we were there. Several of the staff were not knowledgeable at all about facilities and had to make several trips for things because we were told the wrong information.

Review 4:Good location and average rooms

Review 5:What I did not appreciate at all was the bathroom - it is very tiny and everything gets wet when you shower. You have to dry the floor if you want to use the bathroom after showering and don't want to wet your socks. The room itself was not very cozy and inviting and the Internet connection in the room was bad.

Review 6:All in all, it's an OK hotel, but I did expect it to be a bit more comfortable. The common area and the breakfast were the two things I appreciated about the hotel.

Review 7:it should not be called hotel but since it looks like vandrarhem, or hostel. bathrooms are disaster, size of room is bad. And price is higher than in hotel 4 stars. i do not understand you people.

Review 8:personel is very kind

Review 9:I can not believe this is rated as a 4 star hotel. The bar was closed for the summer. I was there with my partner and 2 children (9months and 2 years). There was no ramp for the children's pram just step that we had to overcome each time we went out and every time we went to our room we had to mess about trying to open double doors and then the bedroom door was too small to fit the pram in. It was the last day of our holiday so we thought it would be nice to spend a night in a nice central hotel but the kids and ourselves we awake all night because of the temperature in the room. I asked the girl at reception to turn on the AC but she couldn't but did supply us with a rubbish electric fan. We couldn't leave the window open because of the noise outside so it was a lose lose situation. It was the worst hotel experience we have ever had and if you guys in booking.com rate dives like that hotel as 4 star and child friendly you need to find new jobs. Oh and I forgot to mention that the place had a terrible smell and was even worse in reception.

Review 10:The breakfast was just perfect and so fresh.

Review 11:Our room window giving on the streets we had couples of nights been disturbed by people shouting late at night on the streets! Cleaning seemed not to be a priority!

Review 12:We had a one week stay using the sauna and having good breakfast. Well located close to the canal and city center it was easy to walk to visit the town....

Review 13:Standard twin room could have had more modern furnishings but otherwise adequate. Parking pass not included in price.

Review 14:Friendly and helpful staff. No-frills and unpretentious hotel in nice, quiet location a few mins walk from restaurants and city centre. Satisfactory breakfast, comfy beds. Good value for money.

Review 15:Complimentary tea and coffee in the room would have been a bonus. Building could do with a face lift.

Review 16:We had a quiet room facing the garden. The breakfast was superb. The staff were helpful and spoke amazingly good English.

Review 17:On the outside, the hotel building looked a bit cheap and hostel-like, which might not be the first impression they want to give. However, that first impression was soon changed when we saw the nice, modern and tidy inside of the hotel. One of our company is quite tall and found taking a shower in the bathtub difficult, since standing in it took him close to the ceiling. There were no rooms with a "normal" shower available. The room in general was clean: beds, floor and bathroom were very nice. The windows, on the other hand, had not been washed recently and in sunshine one could also see dust floating in the air. But that was (for us at least) only an aesthetic problem. The room didn't have any sort of fridge, which was a pity. Also the TV was mounted to the wall to an angle which made it possible to watch it only from one bed.

Review 18:We were three adult-sized people sharing a room and a huge plus is that they actually had a room with three full-sized beds and none of us had to sleep in an uncomfortable extra bed. The room was large. Breakfast was included and had everything I could wish for a good hotel breakfast: bacon and scrambled eggs, bread (and not only that very whitest), cold cuts & cheese & herring, vegetables and salad, jams and nutella, yoghurts and a lot of stuff to go with them (dried fruits, müsli, nuts etc.), lovely fresh fruits including pineapple and honeydew, juice, and coffee/tea/cocoa with biscuits. Filling and delicious but mainly healthy. If anything, maybe porridge could have been included. The whole of Uppsala centre is within walking distance from the hotel. Private parking could be arranged for 140 SEK per day.

Review 19:The hotel double-charged my credit card and has so far, a month later and after numerous calls and emails, not responded to my complaints, let alone paid me back. I will certainly aviod the hotel in the future.

Review 20:Good and very helpful staff.

Review 21:The bathroom was kind of weird - no bathtube nor shower base. Just a drain and a squeegee... Perhaps a swedish tradition I am not used to.

Review 22:Great location, friendly staff, nice breakfast. The rooms are clean and confortable. The city center, the touristic sites and the train station are within walking distance.

Review 23:The shower is a disaster :( Water over-floods the whole (tiny) bathroom floor. A towel must be used to prevent water from crossing under the shower "door". It'd be so easy to fix, just by lowering the separation "door", so it'd effectively reach the floor... I suggested this at reception but they seem not to care too much (probably they heard this suggestion many times before). Anyway, reception staff was very helpful in providing extra towels :) Room temperature was on the cold side (even with heating at the maximum level), definitely thermal underwear, a thick jumper and thick socks are recommended if you have to spend time in the room (e.g. working at the desk, as I did). Windows need urgent renovation: frames are cracked and isolation is not good (you could feel the outside "fresh" air getting inside through the aged frame).

Review 24:Good location, a bit away from the train station, though still a comfortable walk (provided you don't have heavy luggage). Close to the city life, yet far enough to be quiet. Bed on the soft side, but still quite comfy. Good breakfast choice, friendly staff, quiet rooms (at least the ones facing the garden, as mine).

Review 25:would appreciate more healthy breakfast buffè for both vegetarians and pescatarians.

Review 26:nice personell, helpful locally placed decent room, clean teamed up with Nordic training center

Review 27:No tea or coffee making facilities in room, though you could access self service drinks in the lobby |(for a small fee). Other guests were a little inconsiderate, talking loudly when walking down the long corridor outside the rooms late at night. Perhaps a polite sign asking people to be quiet would help.

Review 28:Very friendly and helpful staff. Baggage room was available free of charge for me to leave my suitcase overnight when I went on a side trip. Very clean and pleasant room with a nice view of the Linnaeus park.

Review 29:Room was too cold and dark. There is a little step to the bathroom that I fell over several times, it's dangerous. Walls are too thin, one can hear the other guests in their rooms and the corridor. The shower changed by itself from too cold to very hot and back. Hotel staff at the reception is very slow.

Review 30:Very good free wireless. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room is nice.

Review 31:The air conditioning in the corridor was so loud I couldn't sleep. When I complained in the morning and asked to be moved they said I could only have another room in the noisy corridor. If I wanted a room in a quiet corridor I had to pay extra!I We left after one night of our 6 night stay.

Review 32:Location

Review 33:The Wi-Fi connection a bit too slow.

Review 34:The hotel is close to the city centre. Lots of shops and restaurants in the neighbourhood. The room was very well equiped and clean.

Review 35:The parking is tragic, not even a drop off zone! Very difficult if you have small children to walk 3 minutes to the street parking - if you can even find street parking. Nearby parking garage was 10kr for 20 minutes, with a maximum rate of something like 150 kr. I think its the same for all the downtown hotels, but I could be wrong... Difficult to find information about the hotel from the hotel room. When is breakfast finished, for example?

Review 36:We liked everything about the place. The lobby, the room, the bathtub in the room, etc. Complete breakfast with a calm atmosphere. Served breakfast until 11.00. friendly, service minded staff. cleanliness was top notch. telephones in the room.

Review 37:i can't think of anything.

Review 38:it was easy to reach (using public transportation: train from Arlanda airport, to center of town -15 minutes- reasonable fare), then about 12-15 minutes walk to the hotel, which is centrally located. the hotel has quality rooms, at reasonable price; all the rooms face away from traffic. everything works. good wi-fi. blackout curtains, you can sleep late. around the corner from hotel, an excellent restaurant, Lingon, (swedish specialties; make a reservation, it helps)

Review 39:quiet, nica view of park

Review 40:Variety on breakfast.

Review 41:Everything clean, staff really nice and the location was perfect.

Review 42:nothing

Review 43:Everything, especially the staff..

Review 44:Good location,reasonably priced

Review 45:The bathroom with its small shower.

Review 46:The breakfast and beds

Review 47:Thought they had parking, but they did not. Room was way too small for comfort, or even to open luggage.

Review 48:Thought they had parking, but they did not.

Review 49:There are no facilities to make tea/coffee

Review 50:Good breakfast

Review 51:Menu

Review 52:Nice room, convenient, breakfast

Review 53:Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was delicious. Room was very comfy.

Review 54:Poor wi-fi in some rooms, no gym

Review 55:Location (close to the city center, quiet street, Linne garden behind), breakfasts, sauna, staff

Review 56:The bathroom

Review 57:The Breakfast

Review 58:Nothing

Review 59:Ideal for exploring Uppsala on foot. Close by restaurants, 10 minute stroll to centre and 1 minute to riverside

Review 60:Free coffee as in other chains ...eg Best Western would have been appreciated

Review 61:Location. Friendly staff

Review 62:The internet connection was bad

Review 63:Some of the hotel infrastructure needs updating but rooms OK.

Review 64:Proximity to city and gardens

Review 65:No kettle or tea and coffee making facilities. This would be nice to have in the room.

Review 66:Central location. Walking distance to the hospital. Warm and comfortable.

Review 67:Wifi requires activation each time. The bathroom looks old but works OK.

Review 68:Staff ready to support you. Large breakfast space, the same for the restaurant. I attended a conference and my wife with baby 2 months old, enjoyed their time in Uppsala and the hotel. We got a crib and upgrade of room because of our baby. The view of the Linee park is better than the front view. You have caffe, tee, and cookies in the reception all time.

Review 69:The rooms are not well soundproofed. You can hear the other clients passing in the hallway and slaming their doors. So it was quite noisy. The doors cannot be closed silently. You hear everybody slamming their doors, all day long. I guess that's the price that I paid. If you need more silent or better quality, then get to a better hotel and more expensive. I wanted to check out, one day earlier to go to Stockholm and I could not. Because booked with this website. Next time, I'll try to book directly with the hotel for more flexibility.

Review 70:Good location near the city and near restaurants. Also close to the bus stop. Price was correct for what it offers. Nice view to the Linné garden.

Review 71:The price of the room was much too high (though it's in Sweden) The design of the room could be improved (you expect better for the price): 1. Table desk as small as an aircraft seat table, fixed and facing the wall, so that it's not possible to work and watch television in the same time) 2. Tables larger but a bit too low in the more expensive rooms, so that the working position is not that comfortable

Review 72:Except for what should be improved, the hotel was ok but not exceptional

Review 73:Annoy Wifi that required repeat log on each time it was used.

Review 74:Walking distance from centre of town. Quiet area. Friendly staff. Rooms are typical of Swedish Hotel. Slightly small, but comfortable.

Review 75:The hotel kept me waiting for 15 minutes outside (cold, windy winter) in the middle of the night as the reception "had gone somewhere". When I complained, they sent me afterwards a coucher for this hotel which included a breakfast for two. If I ever would a) return to Uppsala and b) return to this hotel I would book a room WITH breakfast. So the "gift" made me feel even more disappointed.

Review 76:A lovely hotel, very good location and the staff were excellent. Great variety of food at breakfast. Overall I would stay again if ever back in Uppsala.

Review 77:Would have been nice if auto parking was available

Review 78:Convenient location to downtown Breakfast was well done, good selection, fresh fruits Room nice and clean, comfortable

Review 79:Really tiny bathroom! We had chosen a smaller cheaper room, and it was small but ok! We were still surprised about the size of the bathroom (1,5 ? square meters), you could not open the shower without hitting the sink with glassdoor and had to wipe the floor and the toilet after taking a shower.

Review 80:Comfortable beds, location, staff, breakfast.

Review 81:Strange smell from the bathroom, uncormfortable bed, strange location of the tv-set inte room, poor breakfast (specially the bread and coffe). The interior of the hotel was very dark.

Review 82:The location

Review 83:Once you leave the fancy reception area you are sent to an endless corridor in an adjacent building, where the rooms are. It's almost like a motel in the US. It's like 2 different worlds.

Review 84:The staff was amazing and the famous Linne Gardens are literally part of the hotel. You just have to go through a small side gate to enjoy it.

Review 85:There was no bathrobe despite its inclusion in the room description at booking. Normally this would be a minor omission, but I needed one that day, as I was getting ready for my wedding!

Review 86:Breakfast was delicious!

Review 87:small room, "artificial" wood floor feeling, wifi reception very weak in breakfast room, room somewhat anonymous

Review 88:reasonably conveniently situated, friendly and helpful staff

Review 89:Bathroom is ultra-tiny with shower "panel" that moves and whole bathroom is part the shower so the floor gets very wet.

Review 90:Hotel is clean and in excellent condition. Staff is kind, Wifi works well, great location, and very good buffet breakfast. Quiet and comfortable overall.

Review 91:The hotel has a very wrong shape with long corridors. The rooms are extremely small and full of big furniture. The bathroom is miniscule. The internet connection is very complicated: It requires registration with some Scandinavian firm, acquiring a new code everyday and password etc. Moreover, most of the time, the codes do not work. As you consider the price of the rooms, such a small room and bad internet are unacceptable. They have to come back to their senses with the price.

Review 92:Breakfast and front desk staff. The dry sauna

Review 93:We didn't get the room we booked. Instead a smaller one without the facilities that was promised. Staff tryed to fix some of the problems. I don't know if the problem was caused by booking.com or by the hotel

Review 94:Breakfast room with large windows near Linne garden and the Location.

Review 95:Room was not ready as per our reservation to have a family room; Desserts at hotel restaurant were tasty but not nearly enough food; Service was slow at restaurant/bar even though there were only 2 other customers

Review 96:Location - not too far from the E4 motorway; Nice enough staff

Review 97:Since this was a 3 star hotel I will not comment on decoration and quality of furniture. I will stick to what I can compare to in other places (I am a very frequent traveler). 1. The room was really cold and one can feel the wind blowing from the windows, I had to use curtains to seal it off. 2. Bathroom was more like in a really bad dorm or a gas station. 3. Everything was making funny noise when opened or simply used. 4. The TV has 10 channels out of which 5 are in Swedish (not very international friendly I'd say). 5. The breakfast was a very typical one, nothing to focus on nothing to complain. 6. I stayed on the fourth floor and I could smell fried bacon in the whole corridor, on the staircase and actually approaching the room as well. 7. The person at the front desk confused the taxi order leaving me very little time to get to the airport...one can't blame it on the language barer... In general, it was by far the worst hotel I have visited in 4 years of traveling, especially if put against the price rate, for which you can find very nice hotels from East to West of EU. P.S. The lobby and entrance to the hotel is very much misleading since it is very nice and comfy.

Review 98:The hotel was located close to the city center

Review 99:Quiet road, and the staff was very friendly. Rooms were clean. Small stand-up shower in the room that I had but it was good enough. Very close tothe shopping area and main street. Train station is maybe 10 minutewalk. Breakfast has whole fruits which is great to have.

Review 100:The location was very convenient for walking to the centrum for shopping and of course was next to the Linne museum and gardens. Our room, a large twin room, was spacious, quiet ( with window facing the courtyard ) and it had a bathtub, for a soak after a long day of walking. There were spa facilities in the basement, although we had no time to use them. The staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast was adequate. Many different dining areas to choose from.

Review 101:breakfast atmosphere: staff slow in cleaning tables group of travelers blocked the buffet tables not well arranged

Review 102:the room atmosphere at reception bar with backyard

Review 103:Hotel needs urgent renovation. No window-curtains to darken the room, consequence is few sleep and inlook from neighbours possible. I asked for another room, but was not available as the hotel was full (which I know was not right). Breakfast is ok, but tables and chairs are outdated. Parking outside if available in street, you can pay by creditcard, but at reception where not aware of that. Nearly no foreign TV-stations (1 or 2), but this is a detail. Never will go back. And would not recommend it to anyone.

Review 104:The hotel is OK if you are not very demanding. I would give this place 4- star rating. In general Uppsala is an old city where most of the buildings are built in the 70ties, 80ties. This hotel is also quite old but well kept. I was very suprised that rooms still have the old style old wooden windows. The location is very good, breakfast was also good, the bathroom is very small. Internet available, you just have to ask for the code every 24 hours.

Review 105:First day room was not attended too & we returned to find that beds notmade. Also wet towels were not picked up.

Review 106:Rooms were comfortable with tea & coffe making facilites. Also sparepillows & blankets in cupboard, hairdryer & 2 armchairs

Review 107:I booked my hotelroom at First Hotel Linne with my Master Card. Then when I checked in on Wednesday evening, there was some problem with the credit card processing machine. This next morning on Thursday, this problem had not been resolved. So I paid the total amount for my hotel stay by cash on Thursday afternoon. When I checked out on Friday morning, I was asked to pay again. When I showed my receipt from Thursday, I was told that the receipt had to be verified by the manager. I did not leave First Hotel Linne feeling like a valued customer and will share this story of my experiences with my friends and business associates.

Review 108:When I was looking for a hotel for the confence I attended at Uppsala U., I wanted a hotel that was reasonably priced and in walking distance of Uppsala Central and of Norrlands Nation. First Hotel Linne met those criteria.

Review 109:Reception staff v helpful. Comfortable to have separate sitting room butit was not possible to know this until seen. Website should indicatemore clearly the facilities of each room. Breakfast was good. Good thatthe hotel did not feel like part of a chain,

Review 110:The hotel was correct but totally without charm. It felt slightly old and tired. I payed a reduced price, it was worth it. It would not have been worth the list price. You can find many better hotels than this for the same price.

Review 111:The bed was confortable. The hotel was correct but totally without charm.

Review 112:The windows were very dirty and nothing was taken care of in the garden.

Review 113:The location. The breakfast was excellent.

Review 114:Nothing in particular

Review 115:Very poor internetconnction.

Review 116:Friendly staff!

Review 117:Very nice place, excellent location and very friendly and helpful staff. I would recommend this place with no hesitation!

Review 118:Small , but well equipped rooms. Centrally located-close to the university Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Good quality, and free Wifi.

Review 119:WI-fi in room was not so good

Review 120:modern rooms very good breakfast, light (many windows) breakfast room

Review 121:Quitness!!!

Review 122:The room was too cold.

Review 123:The room was spacious and had a great view.

Review 124:Att sängarna går isär. Önskvärt att de sitter ihop.

Review 125:Trevlig matsal Rum ok. trevlig reception. Receptionist trevlig

Review 126:Very good breakfast, kind people at reception

Review 127:The rooms remind me of an institution, not personal at all. The breakfast area was also very boring, reminded me of a hospital

Review 128:The location is good

Review 129:universal hair & body shampoo instead of separate hair shampoo and soap.

Review 130:location, value for money

Review 131:Quiet, though close to town center
