Reviews for Cotton Sail Hotel Savannah Riverfront
Review 1:The room was clean with an awesome view of the Savannah River. The bed was as comfortable as my own. The staff was friendly and helpful when needed. We live in Guyton GA and were down there with friends from out of town, that wanted to see & visit Savannah. It was easier for us to stay & enjoy Savannah and not worry about driving home. We'll be back.
Review 2:There are no fridges in the room or water bottles. But you can purchase drinks downstairs.
Review 3:The view from the balcony rooms are so beautiful and the location is perfect! The staff are friendly and helpful. We stay here once every year and always look forward to it!
Review 4:The staff was very nice and always eager to assist. The hotel was immaculate and perfectly located. The room was a little bit cramped, but very nicely appointed and comfortable. Don't let them convince you to valet park for $25 a day, unless you enjoy that. The offspring garage across the street had a daily maximum of $16, but on weekends and holidays it's usually $5/day. If you happen to come in during Event parking, you may only be charged $5 total. I parked there 4 days (we walk everywhere in Savannah) and paid $5.
Review 5:Expensive off site parking; no maid replenishment of room items... coffee, tissues, cups, but furnished way more towels than necessary; high room sales taxes; and lack of bathroom counter space (in a handicapped assessable room). Also, high ceilings keeps the room heat at ceiling level.
Review 6:Comfortable bed, convenient location and good TV station options.
Review 7:Was told valet parking would be in garage but was left outside. Staff didn't seem apologetic for parking issue or leaking shower. Seemed to infer it was our problem.
Review 8:Location was great but view wasn't the prettiest on Riverfront
Review 9:The location was PERFECT! A friend and I came down for a quick overnight visit to Savannah. I've never been there and I picked out the hotel. My friend said the location was near everything! I Love the rooftop bar/observation area. Great view of the river and bridge. The staff was wonderful. If we asked for anything, they were very quick to accommodate. The beds were ultra comfy!
Review 10:There is not one thing i can think of that was not satisfactory during our stay.
Review 11:Picked hotel based on online deal and reviews. And, we were so glad we did. We had a great experience ...comfortable, modern room, bathroom, free wyfi, many restaurants nearby, helpful staff and a nice touvh with the free coffee in the morning. This will be our new stopover place in the future.
Review 12:We could hear noise from the room above but otherwise it was a wonderful visit!
Review 13:Antonio was very helpful checking in and the concierge, Mindy, was also very good and informative. Would certainly visit the hotel again.
Review 14:I honestly can't come up with a bad thing to write
Review 15:The room was beautiful and the staff were anazing, especially Keenan abd Harold our valet and bellhop
Review 16:Nothing -
Review 17:I was given a complimentary upgraded river facing room - on a corner of the building with a great view. I like that you can access the river street level from inside the building by elevator. The hotel hallway seemed very quiet - and having a Keurig in the lobby was a nice feature. The two valet staff were great - Antonio was a friendly greeter, and Harold saw me off at the end of my stay. They were more attentive than any other staff.
Review 18:The menus of the restaurants didn't include many options for fish. Being that Savannah is on the coast, I found this very disappointing. Atlantic Blue Crab, Catfish, anything would have been very welcome considering the local. The menus were fairly neutral, not the usual Southern flair. This was a big disappointment, but not the hotel's fault by any means.
Review 19:The location is perfect, within walking area of downtown Savannah. Affordable restaurants are nearby and added to the whole Savannah experience with their local specialties.
Review 20:Our room was out of control musty; I got a sinus cold on the second day which prevented me from smelling anything except I could smell the musty room. If I were to make a somewhat educated guess I would say that the rooms on the lower levels have this issue so dont stay there. Insist on a room on a floor higher than the lobby!
Review 21:Cool boutique style hotel situated directly on the water. The hotel itself was nice and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Easy walking around town.
Review 22:A tug boat on the river blasted a horn, scared the b Jesus out of me. No breakfast restaurant which is not uncommon for this type hotel.
Review 23:The hotel is a beautiful compliment to Savannah. Cotton Sail is well defined with modern design in the historic waterfront. Every person we interaced with we're professional and accommodating. We are pleased with the booking and hotel experience.
Review 24:The in room AC was very noisy and kept us awake. The hotel does not have a breakfast service and does not mention this on the web site.
Review 25:Location to historic district is great.
Review 26:Could have used another place to sit down in our room and would have been nice to have more lighting for reading.
Review 27:Watching the ships go up and down the river! Wonderful location, and we found the staff to be really helpful and friendly.
Review 28:Parking is offsite, which I suppose would be an inconvenience to some, but valet service is great, and Savannah is a pedestrian town anyway, so shouldn't need a car after arriving.
Review 29:Fantastic staff and location. Rooms were clean and well-appointed, and the rooftop lounge was the best. Very close to River street, downtown, restaurants and nightlife, but still very quiet.
Review 30:The staff was not friendly, they were just there but not helpful. True hospitality was not encountered. The beds, linens, and towels were lackluster and not soft and comfortable. Plus, there were not enough towels. The cost booked ahead of time was outrageous ( $100 more a night) compared to what it would have been if I booked the day beforehand through this site. I've stayed at the Andaz in the area before and think I will go back there next time, even without the riverfront view.
Review 31:Location, view, balcony, general aesthetic of the hotel.
Review 32:We were located on the 5th floor. While we appreciated the upgrade to a balcony from just a river view, we got a lot of noise from the banquet room and lounge on the top floor.
Review 33:The location was awesome for access to walking along the river and great restaurants.
Review 34:Being on the fifth floor was a little tricky with a party being celebrated on the 6th floor Top Deck restaurant. Having said that, as of 11pm, all was quiet.
Review 35:Loved the location, right on the river and in the heart of the historical district.
Review 36:Being on the 3rd floor - it was so loud in the morning with people accessing the lobby. That's terrible for people from PST being on EST - way too loud and early.
Review 37:Beautiful decor. Great service. Great aesthetic. Loved Top Deck.
Review 38:Wooden floors are very noisy from the room upstairs, pillows were very tough and a lot of outside noise coming from the top deck bar.
Review 39:Large room and lovely staff.
Review 40:We needed to leave very early in the morning, so we checked out the night before and told the person from the front desk we would be in a hurry in the morning. The valet parking was supposed to be there at 6 am, and at 6,15 had not arrived. So, we had to walk with all our luggage to the parking place, (which is almost 2 blocks from the hotel), in the dark and then had to guess where our car was. When we wanted to leave the people from the parking asked us to pay extra, (the hotel had not told them we were their guests). Of course, I was late for my meeting because of their inefficiency!!
Review 41:Requested a room with a view. We had a partial view of the river if we sat in the window and looked between the 2 hotels
Review 42:We LOVED the location! The hotel was well kept and the concierge was helpful. The valet service was very prompt & friendly
Review 43:We booked a King room with a balcony overlooking the river thinking it would be nice. The room was disappointing - it was gloomy and not very big. The communal areas in the hotel weren't particularly attractive or spacious either and the lifts weren't working properly for a number of hours. There were no breakfast facilities.
Review 44:Convenient for historic area (once you'd crossed a busy road). Good views from room top bar.
Review 45:See above reply
Review 46:The room booked was not available at check in. They were over booked. The personnhelpingbis and the manager had poor attitudes and were very unfriendly. When my wife asked for a restroom she was told to go to the 6th floor by the roof top bar. Very poor customer service.
Review 47:I liked the friendly staff. And when I checked out on my birthday they gave me a complimentary bottle of wine as a keepsake. Thank you!! I will be back!
Review 48:There was nothing to dislike!
Review 49:New to the Cotton Sail. We had an excellent experience, staff, etc. was excellent. Would recommend to family & would definitely book again.
Review 50:Location and cleanliness were a plus. Had a waterfront view- loved the little balcony! Could lie in bed and see boats go by! Easy walk to everything! Roof top bar was awesome!
Review 51:The concierge was not helpful even rude to our daughter, the rest of the staff was very helpful. We had to leave to get breakfast and lunch, the restaurant had a great dinner, but only dinner.
Review 52:Love the history of the hotel, very comfortable and well decorated, loved the views
Review 53:just about everything. Overpriced. Staff not particularly attentive. No smoking anywhere on premises. No breakfast option. I walked upon the staff acting very suspicious, I believe they were using drugs in a stairwell.
Review 54:not much. Staff was occasionally friendly.
Review 55:Would be nice if staff told about restraurant on lower level and more helpful to find other restraurants. Continental breakfast a benefit or at least coffee
Review 56:I was there for a overnight stay, parking was free every where sfter 5:00 but the valet said their was no parking except metered and a 25.00 valet which should be free to the customer anyway
Review 57:Continental breakfast is standard at the cheapest hotels, this would be a huge plus for your hotel
Review 58:The valet changed the station on my radio. The room was very noisy. The room was clean but the cleaner left a residue that made your shoes sticky. Feel the price was a little high for the room we received.
Review 59:The location, the roof top bar, and most of the staff.
Review 60:Our original room had a musty smell and the air conditioner had mold inside it. When this issue was brought up to the manager he moved us into a new room.
Review 61:The staff was polite and professional.
Review 62:The room was very modern, clean and comfortable and the view was beautiful. We enjoyed our stay, and look forward to returning in the future. The staff was very professional and nice. The valet crew was exceptional.
Review 63:The staff was outstanding , it started with D. J. who brought are bags up and made sure we had wine because it was.my gals 6o th birthday. Can't wait to come back! Brian and Roni
Review 64:they can't fix perfect
Review 65:Everything! The location was perfect - the view of the Savannah River was amazing - the room itself was perfectly clean, comfortable and the paint colors and linens very up-to-date - great colors. The elevator went down to River Street - perfect location. The elevator went up to a wonderful roof top bar. The entire trip couldn't have been better.
Review 66:We were traveling for work, but it was also our anniversary and the staff was incredibly nice and we couldn't have asked for a better experience! I will stay here again!
Review 67:I only had one item that keeps me from scoring them a 10 (for this price point) and that is the bedding. The mattress was too firm with no pillow top cover. The pillows were smaller than normal and the duvet wasn't as fluffy and comfy as I am accustomed to. Also there is a $25 daily charge for daily valet parking as the hotel has to use the lot across the street but they were pleasant and quick to get the cars so that is a plus.
Review 68:Great customer service! - From the moment we drove up to the hotel until the moment we checked out we felt welcomed by the all of the staff which made for a great impression. The hotel has great curb appeal is clean, modern and has real charm. We were upgraded to a room with a small balcony with a spectacular view of the river. The rooftop deck/bar was amazing as well with spectacular views. Excellent location to explore the historic Savannah district. Plenty of dining within walking distance.
Review 69:N/A
Review 70:Everything was absolutely wonderful. Loved the view from our balcony. Wish we could have stayed longer. Already planning another visit in April, 2016 and bringing family. Cannot wait!
Review 71:This is our 3rd stay at the Cotton Sail. We still love it but the room is looking a little tired, just a little. And the cleaner they're using on the beautiful hard wood floors is leaving it sticky, making it unpleasant to walk on. Would like to see a small table in bathroom. Surface space is very limited. No luggage rack available.
Review 72:Love the location. Best on river front. Staff can't be beat.
Review 73:Leaving the hotel for breakfast. Possibly thinking of breakfast in the restrauant on the bottom floor.
Review 74:We loved the great staff and enjoyed the view of the river from our room. The Top Deck was a great place to have a drink and enjoy the sunset, we plan on returning for another long weekend.
Review 75:The location is perfect, loved the roof top bar, very nice designed rooms, comfortable beds, check in went extremely smooth and valet staff were so quick and sweet. We will be coming back.
Review 76:The location is perfect to walk to dining and shopping. The staff was thoughtful & friendly and the rooms are well appointed. It's a beautiful boutique hotel. This was our second stay and we will definitely be back!
Review 77:Parking was very expensive.
Review 78:The hotel and the rooms are beautiful! I booked city view, but I was at the end of the corridor, so I had a second window facing the river - I was lucky! The staff was very friendly and I would have liked to stay an extra night, but they were fully booked... The location is excellent, right on the waterfront, close to all the parks and there is a stop of the Savannah Historic Trolley tours right outside the front door.
Review 79:Nothing really.
Review 80:It's right on the Riverfront so the location is outstanding. The staff was very professional and friendly. We really liked the room.
Review 81:Nothing
Review 82:Gorgeous! The floors and windows are so cool! Very tastefully decorated, valets and concierge were pleasant and helpful, very quiet even though location is quite active
Review 83:Pillows were way to fluffy, no movie rental options on TV, hotel lost our reservation -- but they did upgrade us to a riverfront room for the inconvience
Review 84:The location
Review 85:parking
Review 86:loved the location. we had a balcony view and it was great. the staff was friendly and helpful. Concierge was helpful - he got us dinner reservations and trolly tour. Valet were great. Front desk staff was welcoming and jovial.
Review 87:The Cotton Sail Hotel was wonderful. The River View Balcony room that we were able to reserve via booking.com offered us a fabulous view of the river and River Street. The staff was very helpful during our stay. We will definitely consider the Cotton Sail Hotel for our next trip to Savannah!
Review 88:We wanted to take or morning shower and my husband wanted to shave and we had NO hot water. Only luke warm. There was only one bath robe in the room not two so we had to call to get another. The floors were all dirty and dusty. Finally after calling to get help, only to be told we would perhaps have hot water the next day. This was poor service for the price. No breakfast either
Review 89:the location was perfect for what we wanted to see and do while in Savannah
Review 90:Loved the river view from our room, the historic ambiance of the building, the roof top lounge, the River House Restaurant, the room furnishings, & our bellman Harold was very helpful and friendly.
Review 91:Amenities are few. The balcony of my deluxe (and expensive) room was the size of a skateboard. Room very small for the price. The housekeeping crew appears understaffed: both days, I returned to my room in late afternoon to find it not yet cleaned.
Review 92:Great location.
Review 93:Booking in to the hotel. There was a problem booking in while the problem was fixed they blamed the problem on me. The problem is between booking.com and the hotel.
Review 94:Great location easy so it is easy to walk to many interesting places
Review 95:I wish that it wasn't so pricy. We would have loved to stay two nights but at 400+ a night we just couldn't afford it. The balconies are also a little small/ very close to your neighbor but still awesome.
Review 96:The rooftop bar was the perfect touch and the rooms were beautiful. It smells amazing and our stay was immaculate.
Review 97:Absolutely nothing
Review 98:The view of the river was spectacular! Our room was beautiful. It looked like an apartment, not a hotel. Get a room with a small balcony and view of river.
Review 99:Terrible experience. My boyfriend and I were on our anniversary trip and celebrating the weekend. At some point during our stay, our property was violated. While the staff was helpful, the situation was not truly resolved. It ruined our weekend. As a result I will never return to savannah or this hotel again.
Review 100:no restaurant on premises - no breakfast availability - no pen nor any instructions on hotel serviced, rules, etc. uncomfortable seating arrangements in room
Review 101:location - coffee in room starbucks! curb service
Review 102:No room service for the price paid to stay. We would have liked to dine in the room for breakfast. In addition. The balcony wasn't very large had to stand wasn't large enough for chairs to have morning coffee.
Review 103:The location was really ideal and everything was within walking distance
Review 104:Room was a bit small and difficult to move around in with two people - particularly maneuvering between foot of bed and TV/console area (had to walk sideways).
Review 105:Excellent location! Nice, modern amenities and room tastefully decorated. Comfortable and clean room. Starbucks coffee in the room was an added plus.
Review 106:For the money we thought there could be more value. Lack of breakfast facility or kiosk for breakfast items. Slippers due to the wood floors. In our room the lounge chair was ineffective non useable due to where it was.
Review 107:The location and the history.
Review 108:Everything was perfect.
Review 109:My view of the river was astounding. The shower was very nice and the hotel was spot on. The valet guys were working hard and running around to make sure everything was done well.
Review 110:Difficult to set and control room temperature. Balcony in our room was not worth the money.
Review 111:Staff was very nice and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable
Review 112:NO BREAKFAST. For the price, should be included. Terrace overlooking the river? Puny. Constant hum during the night from air conditioning. Ran out of hot water Sunday morning. Pillows too small and lumpy.
Review 113:Top Deck is the best. Staff throughout were courteous and friendly. Everything was clean. Staff was very accommodating.
Review 114:We had not realised that the hotel does not provide breakfast and this meant we had to go out to get breakfast - we would have preferred to have been able to get it on site
Review 115:Location was good, service and facilities in general good, staff very friendly and efficient
Review 116:We loved this place the moment we walked through the door. Staff was friendly and helpful, the hotel was beautiful and the view from our room was amazing. Would go back in a heartbeat!
Review 117:Besides Antonio, the other staff were not so friendly. Could not park at hotel.
Review 118:Antonio that took care of valet parking was great. He will be the manager some day. The room was nice and clean. Location was great.
Review 119:Some bed linens had highly visible surface damage. Most hotel staff were not as professional in demeanor and approach to guests. The 'concierge' lady was practically surly. A cramped, single sink bathroom for a room that costs $$$$ is far below competitive standard.
Review 120:Location was outstanding, and the valet service was well managed. Rooms were clean.
Review 121:No bad experiences. My only complaint was that I booked a room with a balcony and my room did not have one. I was a little disappointed in that.
Review 122:We loved the Cotton Sail. It's a great location right on River Street. We had a river side room with a nice view. Roof top bar also has great views of Savannah. Valet parking is $25/day or $16/day at the public parking garage a block away.
Review 123:Loved the location, go out of one door and you are in the middle of the souvenir stores and restaurants; go out of the front door and you are right across from the beautiful town center, no need for a car during our stay. Valet called Harold was really pleasant and helpful, not to mention handsome!!!
Review 124:Older hotel, so not as soundproofed as I'd like. Also would have liked better water pressure, but again. Its an old hotel so those things are to be expected.
Review 125:Loved the staff and the location. Everyone was very professional. We also enjoyed easy access to the rooftop bar!
Review 126:The balcony was not what I envisioned. It was about a 3 foot x 3 foot area with standing room only.
Review 127:The shower was really cool, and we truly enjoyed the sunset at the Restaurant on the rooftop. We were able to open the balcony door and listen to a street Saxophone player jam on his sax.
Review 128:Balcony wasn't big enough to sit and enjoy. Room was very small for four people.
Review 129:Location was wonderful and room was very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Review 130:Floor was dirty--hairs (not ours) and dust balls along the bed shirt and under the desk. The floor was sticky. Our shoes actually made a sticking sound when we walked. We brought it to management's attention and the sent someone to clean. Sadly there was still dust under the desk. Just an average hotel room.
Review 131:The location was great. Next time we will stay at the Bohemian--same great location but a much nicer hotel. Valets were friendly and very helpful.
Review 132:Pillows were only down and my family is allergic. Ended up the 2nd night getting a pillow that wasn't down, but they were on short supply and we only got 2.
Review 133:Loved the proximity to river street and easily walkable to historic area.
