Reviews for Kings Inn Cody

Review 1:There was an odd smell to the room....maybe some kind of cleaning solvent?????

Review 2:Breakfast was good. Food was kept warm as we went down late for breakfast.

Review 3:Breakfast was weak. Poor selection and foods available were not healthy. After the first day, we went out to eat breakfast. Room was just ok. Not a good value for the price we had to pay.

Review 4:Good location.

Review 5:The breakfast less than stellar, the bed was full of bedbugs...we all scratched all night long and woke with red splotches. Not one single person spoke to us (good morning, hello) after we checked in until we checked out!

Review 6:On site pool, but the room was way too hot!!!

Review 7:Your breakfast offerings were the worst of our long trip. Ask for some advice from real people not cheapskates. The second morning we went out for brunch.

Review 8:Room was comfortable and large enough for our stuff. Good bed for me.

Review 9:Carpets on the floor is bad. Smellly and dusty. Hard for the cleaners too. In European standard seem very dated. You have to walk through the lobby in your swimsuit to get to the pool. No elevator.

Review 10:Nice african decor. Nice pool, warm water and big enough for swimming.

Review 11:Carpets on the floor makes cleaning heavy and rooms smelly. Very dated in european standard. Breakfast well below average. No elevator! To get to the Pool you have to walk through the lobby and breakfast area

Review 12:Nice warm Pool. Good room plan. Special african interior. Friendly staff

Review 13:Reserved a king bed which wad not available. Recieved a suite room with very uncomfortable bed & pillows. Bath tib area located outside of bathroom. Had to pay for our breakfast. For the price had i known i would have gone elsewhere. First time I've been unhappy with best western

Review 14:Convenience of resevation

Review 15:No elevator to our room on the 2 nd floor.

Review 16:Great location in Cody on the main street and close to restaurants and shopping. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 17:We had requested a ground floor room but upon arrival were placed upstairs which was very difficult for us. After my husband did some serious complaining we were given a downstairs room. It would have been nice if there had been a microwave along with the refrigerator in the room. The room was very "plain jane".

Review 18:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The always hot coffee in the lobby was a plus as were the delicious warm afternoon cookies. The wild animals in the lobby (stuffed) added an interesting twist.

Review 19:on first day no room service

Review 20:a very interesting layout of the hotel in an African Style just in the middle of the Wild West. Friendly staff. Very good location to discover the Yellowstone Park. just 60 mi to go.

Review 21:Sign was out at night, hotel room, lobby, hallways shabby. No elevator to move our luggage, clerk would not let us move to first floor level, lousy continental breakfast. Motel Six has more value than this place

Review 22:Lousy hotel

Review 23:Housekeeping asked if we wanted our room cleaned and was very nice, but when we returned to our room the a/c was turned off and heater was turn on to 90 degs. The breakfast was little to desire for. Other than that it was good.

Review 24:Locations was good, bed was ok.

Review 25:My wife and brother were with me and he wasn't happy about the stuffed animals but I didn't mind them at all

Review 26:We liked it and was comfortable staying there. The price was affordable and location real good.

Review 27:No elevator. Had to haul heavy luggage up stairs. There are dozens of dead, stuffed animals in the lobby you walk through coming and going. For the price, and the enormous cost of the animal collection, owner could have invested more in quality furniture and HD TV. Haven't seen analog in some time. Poor picture.

Review 28:Rooms very clean, friendly staff.bed comfortable.

Review 29:Breakfast was OK but usual paper plates/cutlery you expect from US accommodation. Worst gripe was that the reception pre authorised significantly more than our final bill on our pre loaded dollar card and then didn't utilise the pre authorisation for the final payment at checkout. This locked away $500 of our spending money, in subsequent emails they seemed incapable of resolving the issue!

Review 30:Very clean and comfortable

Review 31:The breakfast was horrible. The biscuits were to hard to even break. The price was to high for the quality.

Review 32:It was a clean and comfortable. I really liked the decor.

Review 33:Elevator would be nice if you have lots of luggage. Pricey because it is the high season.

Review 34:Clean, friendly staff, quiet. Good coffee and nice breakfast.

Review 35:Bathroom was small. Breakfast was only continental.

Review 36:Room was comfortable. Good location to find downtown. Loved life-sized wild animals in hotel lobby.

Review 37:The toy lion stuffed doll was not free. Need to purchase. It's nice for kids, but the parent should expect extra cost. Each room doesn't look like what you feel from photos which are taken in front lobby. Just a normal interior. Staff is friendly, but seemed very busy so I hesitated to ask some questions.

Review 38:Reasonable than other hotels in Cody. Others are pretty pricey. good access to downtown. Safe, clean and quiet. Minimum but enough breakfast.

Review 39:Staff was handling another problem at check in time & poorly at that.(someone booked a stay online, they did not have his reservation, they wanted him to pay the extra fees as they didn't have a room like he booked.) They talked back & forth to each other. They did not immediately greet us....actually acted like we weren't there! When then did greet us, they made no eye contact. The check in information was given at a mumbled tone, seemed like we were bothering them. WiFi did not work at all! Breakfast was pretty blah,...toaster had a broken lever that was warm to the touch. The staff coming & going getting coffee as they started there shifts. Price of the hotel was very inflated for the quality of the amenities.

Review 40:The king rooms are all on the west side and therefore are HOT when one checks in in the pm. Pillows a bit lumpy

Review 41:The Double queen rooms are all on the east and are a better temperature. warm cookies in the later pm where wonderful breakfast is very ordinary - unless you want bisquits and gravy

Review 42:Witnessed the front desk tell a tired family with 3 children they had to wait 10 minutes to check in at 10 pm because they were doing a shift change.

Review 43:Location convenient for rodeo and ease of locating

Review 44:Not a bad experience but comments: Breakfast was the same each day. Perhaps change every once in a while. Add gluten free or yoghurt without flavours.Yello

Review 45:Well placed in Cody. Close to park and local restaurants. Parking was good.

Review 46:Could use a bit better breakfast and the WiFi does drop off every 10 emails messages or so. The lobby is dated and could use some better lighting, as the area is used for breakfast seating over flow.

Review 47:Front desk staff were helpful and did correct the paperwork/rate when questioned. Clean room and WiFi worked fairly well, though it kept throwing me off in the evening. For a night or two it's fine, and a good value.

Review 48:Very hot in lobby and hallways. Breakfast was horrible. No selection and what they did have was gross. Outside doors did not work.

Review 49:It was clean enough. Staff was very nice.

Review 50:Despite all the positives, it seemed a bit expensive for a small town hotel that is as far as it is from Yellowstone. The location in Cody itself is great (near the rodeo....and a short drive from the downtown area)...but with respect to Yellowstone, it's a bit far.

Review 51:Friendly staff, clean, quiet, plenty of parking. They provide better shampoos/soaps than most places.

Review 52:Continental breakfast when compared to others we experienced at other hotels/motels during our vacation lacked choices. Washer and dryer in laundry area obstructed the access to pool.

Review 53:Nothing except for an African-style hotel they could have kept the rooms in that style, too and not just the lobby.

Review 54:Staff was out of the ordinary friendly and very helpful. Rooms are well maintained, clean and large enough for a party of 4. Nice ambience in the lobby. Not even one hour to the Yellowstone. 24h free water.

Review 55:Very limited breakfast choices. Canned fruits instead of fresh...

Review 56:Nice and clean rooms. When their pool was closed, they made sure that we could swim at the hotel next door!

Review 57:Breakfast was gross, nothing fresh, the pool was nice expect the kids who were left unattended and front desk didn't care. Not thief problem. Room service always turned off the A/C even when we had the do not disturb sign up. Please don't book with them. The lobby animals are old and falling apart, the only reason I wanted this hotel. Kids cannot touch them. They changed the rate in the middle of our stay without telling us. It was such a nightmare!!!

Review 58:Nothing. Employees were awful, wifi didn't work. Had to get new key card everytime I left the hotel. They never work!!!

Review 59:The smell from the room carpet( room #209). I told the staff of the problem. Advised was from days when smoking in room allowed.

Review 60:Location, clean bathrooms, and helpful staff.

Review 61:small discrepancy in the billings we had two rooms - overcharged on one not sure why - but think some mix up on checking out. We will email them to find out why. Apart from that everything perfect.

Review 62:Fantastic hotel - clean tidy, nice pool, good location staff were lovely especially liked the free biscuits. Comfortable bed, american diner type place next door - but be aware it shuts at 10pm. The Hotel as per website looks just like it is - thought we might be overwhelmed with the Animals but the lobby is big enough to take it. Would stay again if in area.

Review 63:The bed was uncomfortable, the air conditioner thermostat allowed the room to become too warm before it came on and then was very noisy. The breakfast offered was terrible.

Review 64:The décor was really nice!

Review 65:In my view, new reservation clerks not properly trained. This motel is owned by AmericInn but does not quite serve the customer with same care. We could not pay our bill in full the night before leaving due to their ridiculous book-keeping stipulation. This is a little outrageous in my view; always accommodate customers when they wish to pay! I will file a formal complaint concerning this issue. This is probably not that important for most travelers, but I had my reasons for paying early.

Review 66:Nice size room; cool enough. Good housekeeping staff

Review 67:Bathroom bad design, my key worked only half the time in the side door, and the breakfast a little skimppy.

Review 68:on the edge of town easy to get on you way to the Yellowstone Park

Review 69:cody is 80+ mils to the east entrance of yellowstone national park, and from east entrance to fish bridge is 40+ miles, really a long way to go

Review 70:there are many aninal specimens in the hall, and a little lion plush toy in the room (don't take it), kids loved inn very much.

Review 71:There was nothing about this Inn that was negative.

Review 72:What a wonderful place to spend a night. Room was very comfortable and also clean. Staff was super!! Lobby was something else with the African animals. Breakfast was also very good. If you are int he Cody, WY area and need a place to stay this is it!!!.

Review 73:The staff was friendly and helpful..hospitality was awesome. The most guest friendly accommodations we have ever experienced! The breakfast was very well done with a great assortment for all ages. The lobby with all the animals was a hit with all ages!

Review 74:TV didn't work

Review 75:Enjoyed the animals, the service and the clean room. Our TV didn't work because of an up-grade the motel was doing. The breakfast was good and allowed us to have a good start to the day.

Review 76:No elevator for a guy with bad hip,so talked them out of a first floor room,no place to sit and relax outside of the building, and view from room was a brick wall! Also the motel sign was not lit up at night, and missed turn several times because of this!

Review 77:Staff was great, decor in lobby amazing, lots to take pictures of,and pretty good breakfast!Over all, pretty good!

Review 78:The bathroom was extremely small; especially since there were 4 of us sharing it. This appears to be an older motel, though, so that is understandable. The air-conditioner needs to be replaced. It was either very cold or hot and repeatedly cycled off and on all night long.

Review 79:Staff were very helpful and went out of their way to help us. The breakfast was good. The beds were very comfortable. A good place to stay if you need a one time room and a reasonable rate.

Review 80:An elevator would be helpful but that would not stop us from staying there again. Overall really great!

Review 81:Decor, breakfast was decent, swimming pool area was heated, location was good. Bed comfortable. Easy to continue our journey on to Yellowstone.

Review 82:This is a two story hotel without an elevator. Be prepared to haul luggage etc which was a little uncomfortable for "mature couples". The room was great , bed very comfortable, breakfast adequate. We would stay here again but request a bottom floor unit.

Review 83:My only minus to the experience is that it is a little busy where the guest laundry is as its also the entrance to the pool and vending and ice machines are also located in this same space.

Review 84:Bathroom and room were very clean. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Staff on the night we were there was very helpful above and beyond would I would call normal service.

Review 85:There was not one thing that I did not like. I would definitely stay here again!

Review 86:The front desk staff was very helpful, courteous and professional. The property was clean and well kept.

Review 87:the hotel was clean and the staff was excellent. we were very comfortable there for the for six nights we very scheduled for four nights then added 2 more

Review 88:We are doing a four week cross country trip and reserved this hotel to stay in after a day in Yellowstone. The staff was very accommodating we needed to make some changes with our dates and had no problems. Rooms were clean and comfortable, breakfast in the morning was just what we needed.

Review 89:The only thing I can say negative about this hotel is they do not have an elevator. Because of full hotel, we were not able to get a room change to first floor. My husband had to drag all of our suitcases up the stairs and he was not happy about it.

Review 90:We arrived at this location late and starving. Waiting for us were yummy warm chocolate chip cookies. Oh my! The lobby is full of taxidermy wild African animals - just gorgeous. This was the first place with a vast array of toiletries, a comfortable pillow top bed and pillows. Breakfast was better than most. We were very pleased with this hotel.

Review 91:Great front desk staff. Very helpful. Free yummy cookies. Fascinating lobby with many mounted African big game animals, lots of carvings, masks. Great breakfast. Excellent room and facilities. Great location.

Review 92:Don't like the idea they film you while you stay there, when it came to check out they completely humiliated me in front of lobby full of travelers checking in and out. They were very loud about it, plus that maintenance guy standing there with arms folded like he was one of the bikers staying in town and if I didn't adhere to what they wanted, he would come down on me. I was more than glad to say yes to whatever and get the hell out of there. They are intimidating and humiliating. Plus ask for anything you sign given to you. They keep everything and don't give you anything that has your signature on it except you charge card slip. I am in the travel industry and you can count on the fact I will tell everyone that says they want to plan a trip to Cody and ask where to stay. Not the Kings Inn. And yes, I have asked about the legality of what they did!

Review 93:nothing specific

Review 94:Very friendly staff and very service minded Good laundry service Nice and clean room Rodeo 'next door' One hour drive to Yellowstone

Review 95:would have liked some fresh fruit and more protein items for breakfast. We had no complaint for our room but the man in front of me at the desk apparently had two rooms with tvs that were not working.

Review 96:Nice room with refrig, comfortable beds, quiet for sleeping, a decent breakfast and not too expensive for Cody. Staff were professional and efficient.

Review 97:The staff told us the wrong dates for the gunfight show in front of the local Irma Hotel in Cody so we missed that attraction. The value for the room was not really worth $189 plus tax per night.

Review 98:Convenience of location to local attractions such as the Rodeo in Cody and entrance to Yellowstone National Park.

Review 99:The stuffed African animals which are just weird given the location of the hotel, also how can you expect children not to touch them when they are right in front of their noses. I saw many parents spend too much time making sure their children didn't touch the animals. The African decor is also out of place in fact the whole place could do with a redo. Staff should be in uniform. Would really only recommend this to taxidermists and avid hunters

Review 100:Good location Pool was good

Review 101:Stale smoke smell in room and front desk representative "investigated" by first denying any smoke smell from the front desk, then decided to come smell herself and smell her own skin. Very odd and later laughable.

Review 102:Good location on Cody, Wyoming

Review 103:the breakfast was good--the animal mounts made great photo ops--it seemed VERY soundproof (which, hopefully, worked for our neighbors--had so much fun-- hope our laughter didn't bother others...)

Review 104:Expensive

Review 105:All employees were very helpful and friendly! Beds/pillows were the most comfortable of any hotel I have stayed in. The lobby was beautiful and fascinating.

Review 106:Price was a bit high for our liking but apart from that it was a good place to spend the night.

Review 107:Great lobby with lots of taxidermied African animals. Comfortable rooms. We were just stopping in Cody for the night so didn't care much for location but it seems to be well located enough.

Review 108:Ambience, location - great staff and for us who are from Australia a wonderful opportunity to stay in an unusually interesting place so close to all the facilities we wanted to experience.

Review 109:Not as big or fancy was I perceived from internet picture. Pretty much a standard two Queen bed room in a older hotel that has been renovated, general condition of hotel as same. That said, there was nothing wrong with the place and no faults found. I think the room rates are high, but this seems typical around Yellowstone in the summer.

Review 110:Lobby was interesting with animal mounts. Continental breakfast was good, they had the usual fair with hard boiled eggs, biscuits and gravy. Location in Cody was OK . Bed as very good and we got multiple pillows on each bed and sheets were very nice. Everything was clean, and bath room good. Staff was polite, overall I was happy with the place.

Review 111:Our room didn't have a mircowave and there were some kids running up and down the hall most of the night by our room.

Review 112:The room was clean and very nice. The atmosphere of the motel as you walk in was quite unexpected. The decor gave a nice flavor of the animals of Africa.

Review 113:The bathroom was small and the furnishinlgs were dated.

Review 114:The staff was particularly friendly and always helpful. They paid attention to cleanliness and it showed. The location was convenient to all our activities and sights that we wanted to see. Their breakfast was excellent.

Review 115:nothing.

Review 116:very clean, excellent staff, comfortable room. Not large, but certainly satisfactory. Tasty cookies at check in. Great bisquits aand gravy at breakfast.

Review 117:The room. The staff. The breakfast

Review 118:The decoration style of the lobby.

Review 119:The guest laundry room, the breakfast

Review 120:Front desk people were excellent!

Review 121:poorly maintained

Review 122:Noisy heater that cycled on and off very often.

Review 123:Friendly, helpful staff. Room was clean, bed comfortable. Yummy cookies in the afternoon.

Review 124:clean rooms, convenient location, friendly staff.

Review 125:Facility is somewhat worn and needs more routine maintenance.

Review 126:Easy access, friendly service, decent value

Review 127:The hotel is really dated. Beds are terrible.

Review 128:Fighting the toaster!

Review 129:We were greated and treated by the die staff extremere friendly! Best location since a Long time

Review 130:Very new.clean.good value

Review 131:Friendly staff, unique lobby
