Reviews for 17 Hundred 90 Inn and Restaurant
Review 1:Too bad I didn't encounter anything during my stay in room 204. My partner didn't like the toilet.
Review 2:The staff members were really nice. Food was good. The bed was probably the best thing I like in the room. Very comfy. But it's a historic inn, so it's understandable.
Review 3:The cleanest in the room was poor same they need to improve checking the room before guest arriving
Review 4:Everything we liked staff restaurant bar just need improvement for the cleaness in the room Location super great 2 blocks from the river we will come back
Review 5:in the historic district and walking distance to restaurants and the waterfront. well appointed room and great staff. The restaurant is one of our favourites on the east coast.
Review 6:I know it's hard to mix antique and modern but a few things stuck out ugly (pipes,A/C units, stairs from first floor). Just because it's old it still should work,if not it needs replaced (bathroom vent/light,shower head, fireplace)
Review 7:The Inn was nice.Location was good for site seeing. Food was very good but a bit high priced.
Review 8:It is a little dated and smells so. With a little paint and some minor repairs this place could be a real gem.
Review 9:Wonderful staff with a great location. Free breakfast and two free drinks upon check in are a real treat.
Review 10:Only draw back is the lay out of the rooms. The hallway goes around the perimeter so most rooms are interior, without a window. Didn't bother my husband, but I found it a bit claustrophobic.....but that is what you get in an authentic 1790 building.
Review 11:This inn had excellent atmosphere...curtained antique bed, fireplace in room; 'breakfast included' meant linen tablecloths and fresh flowers etc. The dining room was romantic, the food was excellent, staff was most attentive and professional. The bar area was a scene out of 'Cheers'....a smattering of colourful locals, great atmosphere and a very interesting bartender. The location of the inn was great, a short walk to the river district, a quiet street surrounded by other historic buildings and adjacent to a quiet square. A great experience overall.
Review 12:That I don't live close enough to go more often!
Review 13:The room and bath were beautifully furnished. The desk clerks were so helpful and friendly. The breakfast was an assortment of wonderful breakfast pastries. The parking worked so well for us. If you have a handicap, the doorway are wide enough. We enjoyed our Savannah time!
Review 14:One slight "minus" only - the window frames in my bedroom were dusty and need cleaning.
Review 15:Lovely old "period hotel" in the historic district of beautiful Savannah, about 5 minutes walk from the riverside. I had a very nice room. Breakfast was good and the hotel bar was lively and welcoming.
Review 16:Continental breakfast was included. Could have been a little better. However, coffee was freshly made and delicious. WiFi was very slow.
Review 17:Wonderful old property in the heart of historic Savannah. Bar scene was active with both locals and guests patronizing it. WiFi was free. On-site restaurant was fantastic. Great food and service, reasonable prices. Free parking.
Review 18:No complaints...
Review 19:The Inn is just lovely...convenient to restaurants and Savannah City Tours...lounge was comfortable while waiting for room to be prepared for arrival..parking for our motorcycle was grand...! Chris at check in was so helpful..wonderful host...
Review 20:Exhaust fan in bathroom didn't work, but it is an old bldg. Just ran the AC to take out the steam. Bkfast was very basic; pastries fair. A microwave to heat them up would have been nice, maybe a bkfast sandwich.
Review 21:Great location. Although an interior room, with window onto the hallway, it was large, with several nice pieces of period style furniture. Heat and AC easy to control. Space was pretty quiet.
Review 22:Not much, the only critiscism was that the annex windows were in a poor state and needed repair, gaps to outside were aparent
Review 23:Lovely location in the Historic District. Staff efficient and friendly. Breakfast was very good
Review 24:Staff was great, location perfect, breakfast was good, great nostalgic place, lovely bar and outside garden. Had a great visit with the owner one evening. We will go back. Would like to stay in the main building next time.
Review 25:Whilst having drink at the bar the barman accidentally knocked over a glass of red wine. He did volunteer to pay for the cleaning. Unfortunately the dry cleaners couldn't turn the cleaning round the next day, however the hotel (at our request) washed the clothes that were soiled. Why couldn't they volunteer to do this in the first place?
Review 26:The toilet is a little old and you had to hold down the handle to get it to flush.
Review 27:The room was lovely. The bed was wonderful and even though it was an inside room and the hotel was full I never really heard another soul.
Review 28:Bed was too soft. WIFI is poor in the individual rooms but excellent signal in the bar. Parking is limited due to the popularity of the restaurant.
Review 29:The location is prime. The building is charming. The restaurant is very, very good. Staff is extremely friendly.
Review 30:Everything was excellent.
Review 31:reasonably priced for downtown Savannah and just a few blocks away from the River Walk. I also received a free drink coupon, which was welcome after a long day of traveling.
Review 32:The only thing was the coat hangers in the bedroom, very difficult to put clothes on. Would have liked a more savoury breakfast, but it was still very nice.
Review 33:The staff were very helpful and informative. The bar was nice and relaxing, it reminded us of cheers. The decor was very good.
Review 34:Only negative was the air was out in the stairway area.
Review 35:We stayed in one of the cottage areas on the third floor. The room was awesome! The air was very cold in the room which was great! But the air went out in the hallway and it was very hot the time of our stay there but overall it was a great room and stay.
Review 36:The 3 story property doesn't have an elevator. If you're traveling with any heavy luggage...be prepared to lug it up quite a few flights of stairs.
Review 37:In the heart of the Historic District of Savannah. The restaurant was excellent as well as the bar area.
Review 38:I was pleased with the room overall; however, as someone with a multitude of allergies, I did have an asthmatic/allergic reaction to something in the bedding.
Review 39:The best part of the stay was the service. The staff were the perfect amount of attentive, helpful, and friendly - I never got the sense that they were "hovering" but they always addressed issues before they became problems (e.g., they saw us as we pulled in to a seemingly full parking lot from an afternoon trip to the beach and immediately directed us to a parking space). The Inn itself is excellently situated in walking distance of many historic downtown attractions while still maintaining a sense of peacefulness and privacy. The bar area was fun to visit with friendly locals & guests alike. We were able to order a few items from the restaurant menu there which were tasty.
Review 40:Breakfast, parking, narrow & steep stairs. The breakfast was pastries, some yogurt 1 or 2 kinds of fruit, milk, juice, coffee, tea instant oatmeal. I had to ask for bread to make toast every morning. The bed was high off the floor, but bring your own pillows! I wouldn't recommend it to a friend.
Review 41:it was quiet and peaceful.
Review 42:Breakfast could have used less sweets. Needs more parking.
Review 43:Great atmosphere for a 225 year old Inn. The anticipation of Ghosts was fun. Loved the girl in the window!
Review 44:Nothing of real significance. The car park is very tight and compact . It seems Savannah Traffic Wardens are picky and will ticket any car that goes over the boundary line by a few inches, so be warned.
Review 45:The story that the Inn is haunted helps give some kudos to the age of the building. It is a very old building indeed. The people that own and run it were from the start very helpful, friendly and made every effort to make us welcome. Our room was comfortable although somewhat strange in so far as it did not have a window. There was a hatch that I believe should act as a skylight, however it was covered by a mirror effect which was somewhat strange. The four poster bed was very high and a bit squeaky though one should expect this in antique furniture. There was also a fireplace in the room which added to the homliness of it. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent. The bill was pricey but the quality and service was first class. Breakfast was very good with a variety of food on hand. I would recommend the Inn for all these points and it's situation in the Old Town makes it a very convenient place to stay.
Review 46:The staff was great. Loved our room and the price was amazing. We will definitely go back. It was located within walking distance of everything. Liked so much we stayed an extra night.
Review 47:One small complaint, the breakfast was very pastry/bagel heavy with no real healthy options except for bananas and apples. High sugar yogurts and oatmeal are not healthy. wish they could maybe add something.
Review 48:I stayed for one night then loved the ambience, friendliness and convenience that I stayed an extra night. The two suites I stayed in were large with very unique furniture that set off the "historic" vibe. The neighborhood is safe just far enough away from a lot of the crazy partying but close enough to walk there when you want! It was a steal for the price and area. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to all requests. Really loved it.
Review 49:Felt it needed a god clean . We lifted the cushions on the sofa and there were crisps and empty packets. There was lots of dust on lamps and the door to bathroom was full of coffe stains
Review 50:Location
Review 51:I, PERSONALLY, WOULD PREFER A TRADITIONAL BREAKFAST OVER A CONTINENTAL. THAT SAID, THE OFFERINGS WERE GENEROUS AND VARIED.
Review 52:QUAINT. GREAT LOCATION! GREAT RESTAURANT AND STAFF.
Review 53:The bathroom in my room was pretty outdated, and the toilet flushed only if you held down the handle. The room itself was odd--completely interior, with one window looking out into a hallway where other guests passed by. But the room was spacious and bed superb.
Review 54:Staff makes this place--warm and friendly. The restaurant is lovely--good food, mercifully quiet ambiance with classical music playing softly in the background, friendly wait staff, and charming 18th-century surroundings.
Review 55:Nothing
Review 56:The location is great to explore Savannah. The historic old part and the riverside are in walking distance. Free parking is rare in that area so it's great to leave the car at the hotel for free. The owners are so very nice and helpful, it's a pleasure to be their guest.
Review 57:As you would expect in a historic building of this age some things are old and there are a few flights of stairs that are skinny but for us this added to the charm of the place but maybe not everyone would feel this way.
Review 58:Great location to everything in historic district, extremely friendly and helpful staff.
Review 59:Ceiling light tends to shake when there are people walking above but that's a given since its an historical inn
Review 60:Friendly staff and will recommend you things to do during your stay. - Food was excellent. - Clean and modest rooms. Bed was comfortable. - Great ambiance, quiet neighborhood. - Good WiFi - Close proximity to anything around historic downtown district and River Street
Review 61:Great location - easy walk to River District. Wonderful staff and great drinks and dessert in the inn bar. Loved the decor of the rooms in the Guesthouse. Enjoyed having a parking space at the Guesthouse.
Review 62:The inn is beautiful. You can feel the history ad soon as you step in. I loved the bed and the jacuzzi most of all!! The gentleman at the front desk was one of the most pleasant and friendly people I met in Savannah. I would have loved to stay another week. Thank you 17 Hundred 90 Inn!!
Review 63:A quirky place that captures the feeling of historic Savannah. Depending on your views of ghosts, you may or may not want a room on the top floor of the main building. (Room 204 is said by some to be haunted.)
Review 64:Couldn't adjust termostat below 72 degrees. A little too warm during a unusually warm period in Savannah
Review 65:Easy walking distance to river front. Parked car and didn't need to move it until we checked out. Staff extremely helpful.
Review 66:Try not to book a first floor room if you'd like to get to sleep before 12:30am. You can hear EVERYTHING (loud drunk people, dishes clanging, etc) from the restaurant bar below until well after it closes.
Review 67:Very friendly staff and great location right in the heart of things.
Review 68:The staff went out of their way to make my wife and I welcome and comfortable. The 17 Hundred 90 restaurant was excellent. We had a fish plate that featured grouper, it was one the best dishes I have ever had.
Review 69:no fault
Review 70:Historic building in the best location. Park your car for free and forget it as you can walk everywhere. Eat in their highly rted restaurant and don't miss happy hour. Rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished with period pieces and 4 poster bed.
Review 71:The only fault we found was breakfast was not served before 8.30 which is late when you want to go off sightseeing
Review 72:Wonderful atmosphere. Lovely restaurant. Interesting bed- my wife had to use the step ladder to get onto it
Review 73:We have stayed in many B & B's over the years and were very disappointed with the breakfasts. For the money that we spent, I would expect to have more than a small Danish and other pastries along with cold cereal, fruit or instant oatmeal. We stayed at moderately priced motel on our trip home and had the choice of various pastries, cereal, eggs, sausage and waffles.
Review 74:The location was perfect and the staff was very friendly. Everything that we wanted to see was within walking distance.
Review 75:I was very disappointed that the room had no window! Also the couch was in need if replacement, I could not sit on it. While u realize carpet keeps the rooms quieter, I would have preferred wood as the carpet was very worn.
Review 76:The staff was helpful and very friendly. Perfect location.
Review 77:Tried to have dinner - waited 2.5 hours. Finally gave up. Breakfast was poor. Cold store-bought pastries. From such a highly rated inn/restaurant this was not impressive.
Review 78:The location was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved the old inn charm.
Review 79:parking-but staff quickly remedied
Review 80:Every thing, the staff, food ,room, bar, dining room, piano player, location. It was just what we were looking for. Charming!
Review 81:The antique bed was too high to get in and out of easily. But we had a good laugh about it.
Review 82:A great historical place to stay in a great historical city. Clean, good location, friendly, very nice restaurant.
Review 83:The staff were all very friendly and helpful. One gentleman went out of his way to welcome us and secure a parking spot. I'm sorry I didn't get his name. The food in the restaurant and bar was very good.
Review 84:Limited parking bur staff very helpful in finding parking.
Review 85:Homely style hotel and restaurant combination located in historic district of Savanna. Excellent room with fireplace in bedroom and wi-fi services. Room decor was excellent. Restaurant was top-notch; food, service and atmosphere!
Review 86:The bedroom was very cute with a great use of space. We stayed in a queen bedroom with a couch in it and a 4 poster. It was inside the house but they put a window in it making it feel homely and gave us some light. The bedroom had a fridge but no microwave. I really enjoyed how close it was to everything - within a mile. We got 2 complementary drinks from the hotel and a breakfast that was above average. (Fruit, oatmeal, cereal, bagel/pastries, and any breakfast drink you could want).
Review 87:I got sick after the first day there and was stuck to the bed all day. It was the most comfortable room I've ever stayed in. Very home like and the staff is the best I've ever dealt with.
Review 88:I did feel the bed was too soft . The bathroom was very small but had everything we needed.
Review 89:I love the people the great bar, the atmospher & quaintness of the hotel. & the fact it was in walking distance to everything in the historic district .
Review 90:nothing stands out as a negative.
Review 91:location is great and the rooms are very comfortable. The retractable sunlight over the bed was a nice feature also.
Review 92:The only upholstered chair in the room was old and seat cushion was worn out, sagging. Otherwise, we liked everything about this Inn!
Review 93:Friendly staff, cozy room with working fireplace, nice onsite bar, free parking, easy location to walk throughout the historic district.
Review 94:That we could not stay longer.
Review 95:Everything: Walk to anywhere in Savannah. The staff was very helpful in guiding us to various places. Also beneficial is the restaurant within this Inn and the food was, excellent.
Review 96:The wifi was not a secure network and the staff seemed uninformed about what this even means My room's window opened onto the hall, not outside; needless to say the shade stayed down but little natural light. Had to climb and schlep luggage up 2 separate staircases to get to my room- I didn't mind but this would be difficult for some.
Review 97:Great central location within walking distance of many sites. Good continental breakfast Gracious staff Charming and vintage along with the quirks and what some might perceive as inconveniences that go along with that.
Review 98:We did not realize that there is no elevator. We were on the 3 rd floor. My old legs did not like climbing.
Review 99:The people, including the owner, were very helpful and friendly. Dinner was excellent.
Review 100:Breakfast is a bit disappointing, especially considering the upscale restaurant on the premises.
Review 101:Wonderful location, friendly and accommodating staff, lovely rooms, and reasonable price invite repeat visits--which this was.
Review 102:I was very impressed with this hotel. My wife and i received 2 free drink vouchers at the bar and a great breakfast in the morning was also included. The room was cozy and we were upgraded to a corner suite since they were slow that night. The room had a working fireplace, coffee and comfy bed. It was within a 5 minute walk of the river front and downtown. We saw that someone mentioned that it was an older crowd, but as a couple in our mid twenties we didn't feel out of place. The staff was always friendly. Very, very happy with our stay!
Review 103:The only thing i was disappointed in was their restaurant was closed for renovations.Which was fine in the sense we understand there things have to happen but we were upset because there was no notice when we booked this place. I Had also checked the 1700 inns website and it said nothing of the reaturants closer. We weren't told the restaurant was going to be closed all week until we were checking in.We still would have booked the inn but we Would have appreciated the honesty about the restaurant being closed up front when we booked.
Review 104:This was our first trip to savannah and we stayed here. So happy we did the staff was very nice, the rooms were big they were very comfortable. The beds were very very comfy great sheets. Very home like all around. The bar tender was great very nice guy and he gave us some history on the B&B and some ghost stories too. The inn is in a perfect location to everything!! River st all the squares and much more.We will definitely stay again.
Review 105:Compared to rest of the restaurant, the room we were seated in was kind of dowdy with poor lighting and unspectacular design. Our meal was pretty average, slightly cold. It was a major holiday evening meal.
Review 106:Overall the restaurant was very attractive; our server was very nice. The first course shrimp dish was excellent.
Review 107:We liked good location. excellent food and accomodations very helpful/friendly staff. Parking was not a problem and worked well with respect to the area
Review 108:We were awed by our room. The king sized bed facing a gas fire place, multiple windows to let in the light, comfortable living space and nice sized private bath were all welcome. Staff were friendly and very accommodating to our every need including arranging shuttles when needed.
Review 109:The bathroom was dirty. Bar of used soap from previous guest in shower, found dark hair on towel that was extremely obvious, toilet seat and toilet was not very clean. Staff leaves in the evening so no one is there overnight to help you in any way including if you lose your keys and can't get back into the hotel.
Review 110:The woman who cleaned up breakfast was fabulous. Got everything I needed and was beyond wonderful. The waiter in the restaurant was super attentive and friendly.
Review 111:Dinner was less than satisfactory Roaches in the room we cleaned them up Hairs in the bathtub and around toilet There was urine and other round the toilet that I cleaned up we were in a guest house not the main house banister on stairs was loose no phone in room
Review 112:Location was great Check in Staff Was great Lunch was awesome
Review 113:I didn't like the high bed. all the steps are not fun and the back door after hours is not friendly.
Review 114:I liked that it was well kept. the staff was very good and helpful.
Review 115:Loved everything; we were made to feel welcome the minute we stepped in the door. We would definitely return!
Review 116:The historic district was right outside our door; we were able to park our car (no charge) and walk to dinner and the riverfront, as well as several of the historic homes. The breakfast room, bedroom and bar were all decorated tastefully. Had a delicious lunch served to us in the bar. Our bartender steered us well on food selection, and she was very informative on the local info.
Review 117:The staff were super nice and professional and very helpful. The inn was fascinating, as well as waking in the middle of the night to the aroma of a very nice perfume. Then it was gone and I was alone. Maybe a spirit visited!!!
Review 118:I only stay 1 night but this is absolutely a great place to stay. The lady that followed us was lovely and help pus for everything. Really a great stay: comfortable and fortunately no ghosts. I really recommend this historic building to a friend!
Review 119:The staff at 17 hundred90 made our overnight a very pleasant experience. Lovely old inn, good food and the bar room with so many locals was great fun.
Review 120:I thought that the bathrooms needed to be updated.
Review 121:The 1790 Inn had a cool bar, nice rooms, and good food. The included breakfast was continental but definitely had a large enough variety. I thought that since it was a very old house, that it had a lot of character and we truly enjoyed staying here. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.
Review 122:The breakfast, although plentiful and replenished quickly, was the same every day. It consisted mostly of pastries that are the kind that can be bought at Sam's or other warehouse stores. They were OK but not remarkable (some tasted stale).
Review 123:It was on a quiet street that was close enough to walk to many of the sights of the city.
Review 124:We recieved differenet room than ordered. The room had in 'inside window'.
Review 125:Excellent location, historic building and feeling of the place. Very good breakfast, nice and helpfull staff.
Review 126:Breakfast. All sweet. I am a savoury girl and no eggs. Therefore did not cut the mustard for me. Noisy drunk people downstairs. Could hear every word ( not hotel's fault). We were top floor over the road.
Review 127:Character. Space. Really super comfy bed. Ginormous bathroom. Great location. Amazing She-Crab stew. Already booked our return stay for next week!
Review 128:The room was a bit cheerless. It had no window and a non working fireplace that gave off a sooty smell.
Review 129:Location --- middle of historic district. Staff---very pleasant and helpful. Bar---- great place for a drink. Restaurant----fantastic food and service.
Review 130:the coninental breakfast was okay, I like some hot breakfast to sart the day. I missed it.
Review 131:It was well located in old savanah. It was well kept and clean. the restaurnt was very good food.
Review 132:Plumbing wasn't the best but then this an old building and part of its charm.
Review 133:Great location and walking distance to key sites in historic Savannah.
