Reviews for East Bay Inn
Review 1:The bathroom really needed an update. The toilet seat was yellowed with the covering peeling underneath it, 60% of the towels that were in the bathroom had holes in them, the corners in the bathroom needed cleaning. Breakfast was mediocre at best.
Review 2:The staff was very friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough for you.
Review 3:Why is Savannah so far away from me?!? okay, that's not a real complaint. :)
Review 4:Loved the friendliness of staff and that we got a lovely little goodie bag for our dog who stayed with us. It was so easy and relaxing.
Review 5:The cost and tax to park your car. $12.00/day is O.K., but the added $9.00 tax/day was a surprise. I spent as much to park as I did on fuel to go from Jacksonville, Fl and back over the 2 days.
Review 6:Location was within walking distance to most attractions
Review 7:We stayed here for a girls get away weekend. The ambiance of the hotel was amazing. It sums up what Savannah is about. The friendly staff were Great. We were not disappointed
Review 8:This place needs a lot of attention, a Face Lift and LOTS of cleaning. Our towels where dingy, smelly and with holes. The bath tub and toilet where dirty. The pillow covers where ripped and old. Dust, dust, dust everywhere. The old feel is there as well as the smells to go with it.
Review 9:The staff was friendly and helpful after our observation on the cituation at hand
Review 10:Room 218 had wallpaper peeling in large sections , bathroom was very old in design and rust in places, needs to be renovated/updated, toilet broke during our stay.
Review 11:Good Front Desk People, very knowledgeable about tours
Review 12:The happy hour was disappointing (ritz crackers and cheese cubs and so-so wine) - for $450/night, my expectations were high. The coffee and continental breakfast was also very disappointing, so we went out to breakfast both days, instead (white bread Eggo-type frozen waffles and other things that I don't even buy at home, in the spirit of being honest). The website presented the Inn as a bed & breakfast. It felt a lot more like a hotel. I have stayed at true bed & breakfast establishments in Savannah and they were much better. Travelers - look closer to Bull Street and/or Hull Street and/or Telfair Square if you want something more authentic and higher end for the same price.
Review 13:The staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
Review 14:I didn't have any complaints
Review 15:Staff was wonderful and friendly, and the breakfast the best you could ask for. The location of East Bay Inn gives you easy walking distance to any where you want to go .
Review 16:The location, breakfast and staff. It was easy to walk to the places you wanted to go. The scenery was wonderful and the old buildings we saw were gorgeous and the parks and cemeteries were beautiful.
Review 17:We had a really nice room but not nice enough for the price that we paid. We expected more for our money.
Review 18:Great location, the staff was very friendly, & the downstairs restaurant had wonderful food.
Review 19:Had to leave early because of a family emergency. Shelia sent us off with a prayer. Both she and Jennifer were special in making us comfortable during our stay.
Review 20:The ladies at the front desk made us feel warmly welcomed and comfortable.
Review 21:We didn't find the iron or the ironing board until we were leaving! I would have like to had some hangers and a place to hang some garments.
Review 22:The friendly staff made it feel like I was right at home! The spacious room and decor was beautiful. The happy hour and breakfast was great too!!
Review 23:The room smelled musty, even for an old inn. Breakfast is served until 9:30. At 9:15 the kitchen staff were filling up to go boxes and cleaning out the buffet, that they did not fill again. Very poor.
Review 24:The rooms were a little outdated, especially the bathroom. Not exactly what I was expecting, but it was still nice.
Review 25:Very good complimentary wine/cheese reception and breakfast. Room was very spacious and bed was comfortable. Hotel was in a great location, we walked everywhere!
Review 26:The bed and pillows were not as comfortable as I would have liked, but I still got a restful sleep. We did have to park off-site, but we actually ended up not having to pay the $14 for 2 days worth of parking. Not much to complain about here!
Review 27:The included breakfast was nothing fancy, but had a good variety, and the biscuits and gravy were really good! The staff was also very friendly, the lemonade by the elevator was good, and the journal in the room was a nice, unique touch.
Review 28:There was not a coffee maker in room. Shower water was hard to modulate and it took some time to warm. The patio view, which was a large factor in booking this room, was disappointing.
Review 29:Updated amenities in an aged building would be nice, I.e, update in bathroom.
Review 30:The only issue was that in room 102 the toilet was very close to the wall making it difficult to use. TO correct it would take a major remodelof the bathroom in Room 102..
Review 31:The inn was very comfortable and centrally located for the historic district of Savannah. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Review 32:Not a bad experience, but the food was just so-so.
Review 33:The facility was beautiful and looked exactly as depicted on the internet. The location was central to everything we wanted to do.
Review 34:The staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The location was perfect. Our entire experience was wonderful staying at the East Bay Inn and we will definitely be making a return trip.
Review 35:The air conditioning worked awesome in the rooms but it was very hot in the hallways. Otherwise just an awesome stay!
Review 36:This inn is historic and beautiful. Breakfast was awesome, staff very friendly!
Review 37:East Bay Inn was a great value. I stayed at a hotel near Forsythe Park, very well known the previous weekend and the service couldn't compare to East Bay. I would definately book here again. Old World Charm and excellent service. Thank you!
Review 38:The only complaint we can come up with was we didn't have a refrigerator or microwave in the room. Definately not a deal killer. Very limited parking. I would recommend parking and never moving your car.
Review 39:This hotel is very romantic and it takes you back in time just like the rest of Savannah. Is located within walking distance from everything on the northside. The staff is excellent.
Review 40:the cleanliness of the bathroom was not up to par,,,,there was mold evident on the shower curtain and overall looked like the room had been cleaned very quickly.. overall hotel needs some updating and just a good general cleaning... they have an amazing gem with some rough spots
Review 41:location and size of rooms were great
Review 42:Nothing
Review 43:East Bay Inn is in a great location for seeing the sights of Savannah. Our room was beautiful and comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed visiting with other guests at breakfast and during the afternoon gathering.
Review 44:For the most part the staff was friendly. But one in particular at the front desk seemed to be rude on occasion. Seeing that the hotel is expensive, one would think the entire staff would be friendly. But not so.
Review 45:Our room was beautiful and clean. It had the ambience of Savannah that I wanted.
Review 46:Some areas needed more dusting. We were traveling in a rental truck which made parking very difficult
Review 47:High-ceilings in a beautiful old building with an excellent location. Nice cocktail hour. Delicious southern buffet breakfast.
Review 48:The staff greeted us with a sincerely warm welcome and were accommodating to our needs. The building inn itself is very historic and beautiful, and our room was absolutely amazing (we loved the exposed brick walls). The wine and hors d 'oeuvres each evening were great, but the best part was meeting other people and staff. Everyone was so friendly! I was expecting the "continental breakfast" to be toast and cereal, but it was much more and much better than expected. Even being accommodated with bottled water was nice. The only problem we encountered was that we couldn't stay longer! We will definitely be back to the East Bay Inn when we are back in Savannah!
Review 49:The WiFi may be Free but the reception was very poor, especially in the rooms. That was very important as I needed to check and book tours and restaurants in Savannah. WiFi good in the main lobby.
Review 50:The converted Cotton Factory was absolutely wonderful. Room spacious, breakfast excellent and a great nights rest. You are in the middle of Historical Savannah, yet the Inn is quite and comfortable. Especially enjoyed the 5 pm get together in the bar. Great wine and appetizers, plus you get to meet others travellers. Would definitely return again.
Review 51:Breakfast could have been better. It was similar to a holiday inn express style breakfast.
Review 52:We loved the location. It was a short walk to the riverfront and to tons of restaurants. The 2 ladies at the front desk were profoundly friendly and helpful.
Review 53:We really enjoyed our stay! The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was wonderful! The location was convenient to river street and tons of eating and shopping!! We never drove our car the entire time!
Review 54:Bed was soft and lumpy. Breakfast was very simple and not very good. No fresh fruit, very limited yogurt or anything healthy.
Review 55:Great location near main street but still quiet. Excellent staff
Review 56:Bed could have been more comfortable. Pillows were terrible. Parking is a problem, very limited. Have to use parking garage and the charge is $12.
Review 57:The property was centrally located and convenient to everything we wanted to do and see. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Very quiet and relaxing atmosphere.
Review 58:Paid extra for car parking, then was advised not to go out in my car as I would lose the car parking space that I had paid for. Arrived early but not made welcome and not allowed to check in till 3.
Review 59:Luxurious room. Convenient for riverfront and restaurants.
Review 60:The " character" comes at the expense of looking " worn". I
Review 61:The location was perfect especially for first time visitors to Savannah.
Review 62:Sometimes took long time to wait for the elevator down, no stairs to take instead. I completely forgot to ask the reception about the complimentary hors d'oeuvres and wine each evening I read about beforehand. If they still existed, they were not anyway mentioned to me at any time.
Review 63:As a pleasant surprise I got a free upgrade from deluxe queen, and the room was big and nice, windows towards the park. Stayed for 3 nights but would have enjoyed staying longer.
Review 64:The TV was too small and the location of the tv was not positioned in alignment with the sofa/sitting area. Difficult to watch while sitting on the sofa Toilet to close to the wall; proximity not good Patio not well kept. Nice but wasn't able to enjoy because it wasn't properly cleaned.
Review 65:The staff was extremely friendly The room was nice and cozy The bed was very comfortable The complimentary water The cheese and wine idea
Review 66:The parking was horrible and could not accommodate the guests. Lots of heavy truck traffic on Bay St.
Review 67:Front desk person was able to call trolley and have us picked up near inn. Wine and cheese reception was great.
Review 68:We were in the heart of the Historic District and found the East Bay Inn very beautiful and close to everything. The parade for St Patrick's Day passed right by the inn and we were close to all activities going on that day. Pleasantly surprised by the exceptional food and service at Skyler's restaurant. Loved the service provided by everyone at the inn and would love to return!!!
Review 69:It's a very old structure with beautiful wood floors that creak when they're walked on. A bit noisy from the floor (literally) above us.
Review 70:This beautiful hotel in a converted cotton warehouse was lovely. High ceiling room with plenty of space (we had one of the large rooms) made staying in as nice as going out. The staff was so wonderfully friendly and helpful. Location, for us, was perfect.
Review 71:Parking is a nightmare! Drove around 40 mins. trying to just park to check in! Had to pay and park over at garage.
Review 72:Beautiful room with very nice staff
Review 73:Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We liked being in a historical building, and all that comes with older buildings. high ceilings, original wood floors... The complimentary breakfast was delicious and plentiful.
Review 74:It was a lovely place to stay that showcased the local Savannah hospitality and beauty of its architecture! The staff was very helpful! I would definitely return to stay again.
Review 75:The room we were given was dirty. The baseboards were covered in layers of dirt and in front of the door leading out to the garden area there were dried up worms, that had been there for awhile. The bathroom had hair balls and dirt in the corners and the tub was dirty inside and out.
Review 76:Location was great and the wine and cheese evening social was very nice.
Review 77:The rooms were comfortable and beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful (especially Melvin the Bell man) and the location was perfect for walking trips in historic Savannah.
Review 78:The heat was a little tricky. But, know that you are going to a "historic" building- so you need to expect some little quirks.
Review 79:Wonderful, wonderful staff!!! Great location. The restaurant (Skyler's) was fantastic!! Food was excellent!!! Warm atmosphere-truly a southern experience. I would highly recommend to anyone that want to experience Savannah.
Review 80:Lighting in rooms for two women trying to put on makeup and get dressed was challenging. Bathroom small.
Review 81:Loved the bed. Very comfortable. Happy hour and breakfast were complimentary. Pleasant staff.
Review 82:The only thing they need to work on is cleaning the vents. Other than that no complaints.
Review 83:The age and quaintness of the building. The decor. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Even Charlie behaved. I'll let you find out on your own about him. Definitely stay here!
Review 84:Dog hair on our sofa and the endless yapping of a small dog with separation anxiety spoiled the stay. I appreciate that owners want to travel with their dogs. However, I don't want to share their canines with them. They should have been in a separate area. The complimentary breakfast was served in a dungeon-like basement - not a very cheerful way to start the day.
Review 85:The location of this hotel is fantastic - we never had to drive in 6 days. You can walk to everything in the Historic District. The staff was helpful and pleasant. However there were drawbacks.
Review 86:Loved everything about East Bay Inn. Helpful, friendly staff. Clean, quiet, comfy, convenient. Great reception and breakfast. Thank you for the upgrade and allowing us to bring our bikes inside.
Review 87:Everything about the East Bay Inn was above and beyond my expectations...location, staff, especially Sheila, room, cocktail hour, and breakfast! We will be back!
Review 88:The biggest complaint is the lack of lighting. Older people need more light, and if I were to reject the establishment as a "return to," it would be majorly because the lighting was below par, almost impossible for reading, and there was no night light in the bathroom. The room also lacked sufficient closet space
Review 89:The ambiance of the hotel was quite nice. All members of the staff were warm, helpful, upbeat. It was a "small town" atmosphere which we enjoyed. The room was lovely, and the evening "supper" was well done. The bathroom was spacious and accommodating. All in all, our 2-day stay was pleasant and satisfactory.
Review 90:The location...room....view...food...cleanliness were very good. The only problem we had is our TV did not work and they could not get it fixed...they didn't offer a discount but only apologized for the problem.
Review 91:On the negative, closet space only large enuf for 2 change of clothes for 2 ppl. Room 329
Review 92:Location, breakfast. On the negative, closet space large enuf for 2 change of clothes for 2 ppl. Room 329
Review 93:The staff was excellent went above and beyond on their service. Loved the old Savannah feel to the room while still having modern comforts . While there is nothing like sleeping in your own bed , the bed was quite comfortable . I would recommend East Bay Inn to anyone staying in Savamnah!
Review 94:bed was lumpy bathroom sink was outdated/cracked
Review 95:amenities Julie (front desk) room decor lobby decor the great hot breakfast location to historic district
Review 96:Doorknob in bathroom was loose.
Review 97:The staff was warm, friendly and extremely helpful. The location was superb...close to everything we wanted to see and do. It had the historic feel we were looking for with modern day comforts.
Review 98:room a bit dusty, dirty carpet, bathroom lights heat up room, too hot.
Review 99:location, quick walk to river front and shuttle bus to trolley tour. Knowledeable and helpful staff, especially Julie at front desk. Expansive continental breakfast was nice as was the wine n cheese in early evening. Bedtime turn down service a nice touch.
Review 100:Either people who were up all night or visiters from the past were walking around all night in the room above us? Seemed a bit odd?
Review 101:The friendly staff and great location! Wine and cheese social every night! Will be back!
Review 102:The Inn was not the typical B&B as I expected when I booked it. It is more like a small hotel. The walls are too thin and a baby next door kept us up one night. Most B&B's do not allow children.
Review 103:The location was perfect for visiting the historical and riverfront areas. We could walk to everything. The room was very nice and comfortable. We enjoyed the wine and cheese at 5:30 before going out to dinner. The staff was very helpful and friendly with ideas and scheduling things for us to do..
Review 104:See above a couple of tiny points.
Review 105:The location is perfect, very near but not on River St. And a couple of blocks from City Market. We took the bus to Mid Town and a sightseeing trolly to see all the beautiful green squares. The hotel is great, breakfast a tad sparse, but OK and it is near lots of good eateries. The staff are wonderful with special reference to Marvn the Head Porter and purveyor of all necessary services - he's a treasure! The rooms have double glazing so are very comfortable and quiet but there are no Tea/Coffee making facilities in the rooms, which for a teaholic like me was the only downside. Otherwise I will definitely stay there again.
Review 106:More parking would be nice.
Review 107:Close to the river with tons of restaurants and bars to enjoy! The history of the area gives way to tours and site-seeing spots.
Review 108:Getting woken up one night at 3 AM. But that's part of the charm. We're pretty sure we were right underneath the haunted room, and Charlie must've been walking around late at night. Parking was kind of an issue, but there is a parking garage right across the street.
Review 109:Historic building with beautiful exposed brick and original hardwood floors (squeaks and creaks included). The staff was super friendly and the extended continental breakfast was delicious. Absolutely loved the biscuits. The location was amazing. We were in walking distance of everything but Bonaventure Cemetery (which isn't downtown, so we were already expecting to drive there).
Review 110:I Liked it all!!!!!!
Review 111:Parking was great we parked and left our car there for 2 days. The wine and cheese time in the afternoon was a great way to meet other guests. Julie was awesome she worked the front desk and was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Great suggestions on what to do and where to eat.
Review 112:Our room was beautiful, very tastefully decorated, the staff were wonderful from the front desk to "Melvin, the bellman" and breakfast downstairs was delicious....we truly enjoyed our stay.
Review 113:Lack of coffee in room. No provision for mature adults in bathtub, ie. handle bar. Very soft pillows.
Review 114:Inn is lovely and clean. Breakfast is very good! Front desk is very helpful.
Review 115:There is really nothing not to like about this inn. I'd go back in a minute.
Review 116:Coming in on Amtrak (which arrives at 6:44 am!), the staff greeted me warmly, stowed my luggage, invited me to have breakfast and somehow managed to get me into my room soon after 11. Everyone on the staff is super nice and helpful. My room was beautiful AND comfortable, with a well-lit bathroom. Breakfast was ample, and the 5:00 "happy hour" with wine and hors d'oeuvre is inspired. The inn is right across the street from the river and close to everything.
Review 117:I expected B&B offers nice breakfast but it was just ordinary breakfast you can expect at any chain hotels. Some chain hotels offer even wider varieties. So, it was a bit disappointment.
Review 118:Room is clean and nice, but no hanger for your clothes.
Review 119:The Location is Ideal. The room was very conforable. The breakfasts were good. We enjoyed the wine and cheese partys. We will definately stay here when in Savannah.
Review 120:very friendly and accommodating - great room - great breakfast - great location - everything was as good as or better than expected - very warm, accommodating staff who simply couldn't do enough for us - a welcoming experience - will definitely stay longer next time
Review 121:A little pricey...
Review 122:Walking distance to most of historic area and River St...Charming and friendly! Enjoyed Breakfast downstairs in the quaint restaurant...
Review 123:In need of better social People sitting at breakfast two by two no interacting with other guests The breakfast is better at Holiday Inn Express. Wine in the evening should be in the lobby with living room atmosphere. Conversation is needed.
Review 124:Our Room was wonderful Staff very friendly --especially Melvin Staff very helpful with info and services
Review 125:Every time someone walked you can hear the old floor boards real loudly, woke us up at 5am! Did not receive turndown service the first night.
Review 126:The furnishings were nice. The location was very central and in walking distance to restaurants and pubs. Liked the wine and cheese. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 127:Not a thing.
Review 128:Very welcoming staff at desk, helped us with getting a trolley tour set up. Beautifully decorated rooms. Everything immaculate . Would surely dtay again.
Review 129:front desk could use some packets of advil, advil pm, pepto bismol etc.. for sale for travlers
Review 130:The helpful and very friendly staff made us feel like family. The happy hour and breakfast were nice perks.
Review 131:When you operate a customer service business 24/7 , things can go wrong . However it takes a great hotel to step up and apologize for their mistake, assure it will be corrected and make things right. We will visit again !
Review 132:Caring offered by Sheila + Will , location, ambiance, proximity to historic district + great restaurants.
