Reviews for German Village Inn Motel
Review 1:The staff was non-existent at best and incompetent at worst, they charged me twice for the room, I found pubic hairs in the bathroom, which was covered in a sticky residue. My room keys didn't work for the duration of my visit, to which the man at the front desk (translating through his 8-year-old granddaughter) told me to go ask the maid to let me in. This place was a nightmare.
Review 2:Very little. The room, aside from what I mentioned, wasn't all bad.
Review 3:Had to ask for pillows. The room was dirty ie. Cigar package behind the night stand. This was a smoking room without any ashtrays. Bathroom door would not stay shut without putting the trashcan in front of it. Staff acted like I was bothering them when I checked in.
Review 4:We arrived after midnight and they had cancelled our reservation we made earlier that day and held with a credit card. After driving 8 hours we had to call booking.com and wait on hold 15 minutes. It was 1am before we got to bed. Also the shampoo was left from the lasy guest and was partially empty.
Review 5:It was in a nice and quiet location and the room was clean and spacious. there was a sink in the bathroom and another in the room. The heater worked well and the free breakfast had microwaveable breakfast sandwiches, juice, prepackaged danish and muffins and bagels.
Review 6:The walls are rather thin; there were a couple of nights when I could hear talking/TVs blaring in the neighboring rooms.
Review 7:The motel is conveniently located on High St. in German Village; there are several restaurants and bars within walking distance. Although the furnishings are a bit dated, the room is large and the bed was very comfortable.
Review 8:So dirty! Cigarette ashes on the floor. Hair all over the bathtub. Theroom stink so horribly that an entire can of fabreeze couldn't evenput a dent in the smell. I left a day early because I couldn'thandle it.
Review 9:The parking was good
Review 10:To begin, there was a $1.50 credit card fee on top of rental, not mentioned on booking.com. NEXT, mildewed shower curtain, dirty around baseboards in bath, dirty coffee pot, insufficient coffee for the pot, And breakfast area, microwave, and tables all dirty.
Review 11:I got a room with a window on view on a wall, which made it a quite boring experience.
Review 12:The price value ratio is quite ok, and the neighborhood in the German Village is nice.
Review 13:The people was not nice there and they was rude.they give us nasty room but they had good better.they don't kown how to speak English we'll.
Review 14:That is close to downtown Ohio.the bus line was not to far
Review 15:The staff had listed one night only, and price for hotel was listed as higher than $65, showed on receipt for 1 night was $76.38 and the other 2 nights listed as $69.99 plus tax totaling $82.24 each night. I lived in Columbus, Ohio all my life and know that taxes are not that high. However, the total price still was $240 that booking.com charged. This was a problem for me with taxes being 18%.
Review 16:Staff was nice
Review 17:I could not connect to the wifi internet on check in the person was not so helpful.
Review 18:The location was great for us close to the city and a free buss # 16 to down town out side
Review 19:Room was very poor quality for the price, had people fighting and arguing until 3 am.. in the morning, all water faucets dripped, fingerprints on all appliances. Staff very unconcerned or helpful. Had a better breakfast at mc Donalds.
Review 20:Location
Review 21:Flight was delayed. Informed the staff that I'll most likely be late. she said okay. Arrived at 3.30am to be told my room have been given out (assuming a no show). The lady at the counter said she wasn't aware I have called up before.
Review 22:Relating to my experience having he room given out, the cashier went on to tidy up her own room (that she was putting up the day before), and prepared it for me. It was very nicely done, albeit taking about an hour of waiting. I did finally got a room. Lovely staff.
Review 23:Check in and check out times didn't match what I had on Booking.com appetantly, the hotel staff doesn't even know what Booking.com is. The German hotel is run by absolutely rude Indians (from India). On booking.com I had check in at 11:00pm and checkout three days later at 7:00pm. I called the hotel a week before my arrival to confirm times and they said it was all good. On my last day, I asked the staff to make sure my checkout was still 7:00pm (AT NIGHT) and the staff laughed at me saying that my checkout was at 11:00am and no hotel does checkout at 7:00pm. I had an important business meeting at 1:00pm-4:00pm and my plan was to return to my room by 5:45pm and checkout at my "confirmed" time of 7:00pm. I had no option so I had less than 15 minutes to pack all my stuff that morning. Absolutely unprofessional, I had a great experience until that last day. I don't know if I should blame Booking.com for their poor communication or the hotel for not being on the same page with Booking.com hard to tell. I want some compensation for their mistake.
Review 24:Lots of security cameras and audio surveillance.
Review 25:There really wasn't a free breakfast. The air conditioner leaked water all over the floor. They asked after I got there if it was a non smoking room then wanted to charge me a $30 deposit for non smoking room. So then changed it to a smoking room with no deposit but the it went from a king size bed to two full size beds. I think they have false advertisement.
Review 26:Not a whole lot
Review 27:The fact that we had to check in with a guy behind glass that wasn't friendly at all. I already wasn't happy that he was behind glass and we had to pass things back an forth through a tray. He was not friendly at all.
Review 28:The best part about the room was the bed - it was very comfortable!
Review 29:Parking is tight, but we always found a place. Carpets could use a deep cleaning, but overall the facilities were more than acceptable.
Review 30:We were attending a meeting at the Convention Center. Driving there was no real problem. Breakfast was definitely above average for a motel.
Review 31:My only complaint was the parking lot because it was kind of small and hard to maneuver in our large SUV with
Review 32:At first I wasn't expecting much but upon arrival I was very impressed. The room was clean and the folks working the desk (I don't believe I got their names) were very friendly and helpful.
Review 33:bed sheets were dirty with crumbs all around, bathroom was not clean. Only one set of (half) clean towel were provided the first night and no towels were provided on the second day
Review 34:location and price are ok
Review 35:We did not get housecleaning service the next day. We had to track down housekeeping to get towels, etc. For some reason she skipped our room.
Review 36:The room and bathroom were clean, the location was fine for my business needs.
Review 37:Where do I begin? The room had an odd odor, the heater did not work properly, the WiFi was terrible, the bed was hard, the pillows were flat, there were not enough towels or compimentary toiletries
Review 38:Not much. I would like to say the price but I think that was too much
Review 39:The linen was clean, but there was a hair in the Styrofoam cup. The walls had chipped paint and scuff marks. Staff was absent when I was trying to return my room key.
Review 40:Comfy bed and very close to person I was visiting who lives in a very nice part of Columbus. Also the rates were excellent.
Review 41:A prostitute came to my room shortly after I went to my room. Around 11:30 that same night a strange man was knocking at my door. Felt unsafe.
Review 42:Close to Berliner Park.
Review 43:The parking lot is very small. It was empty in the daytime but do not try to enjoy night life in Columbus. By the time I got back the parking lot was full and it was nowhere to park.
Review 44:It was decent for the price. The staff was nice and the room was clean.
Review 45:i originally booked a non smoking room with 2 beds for me and my guy friends. We arrived to have a room with only a king size bed???btheir solutions n was to give us a smoking (odor laden) room with 2 beds. No discount was applied even though our lungs were contaminated every morning waking up and couldn't breathe! My friends asthma acted up terribly! Not to mention it looked like some just shaved a full beard on our bathroom sink
Review 46:It was a few blocks from Thurman cafe. Free wifi but couldn't get the password over the phone cause no one was at the front desk to answer it :( Double sinks were nice
Review 47:Advertised HBO etc, had none. No guides for tv, staff wasn't friendly. Very sketchy place, if a crack dealer popped out of a room, wouldn't have been surprised. Didn't feel safe at all. Seems to be a place where people live as well. No wifi either...
Review 48:the roof didnt leak and we weren't murdered in the night...
Review 49:Bkfst consisted of store bought packaged pastry. (which we purchased the night before to munch on at the Dairy Mart just north of the motel) NOT the normal continental bkfst. TV had no menu to see what network you wanted to watch. Needs more parking area.
Review 50:Housekeepers were very polite.
Review 51:noisy. there was supposed to be breakfast in the lobby - it consisted of boxed pastries that were stacked up in the office, no juice or milk, there was a toaster but no bread.
Review 52:near to several places to eat. We were recommended to a pub next door which had excellent food.
Review 53:Lots of activity/noise outside our room (in the parking lot) during ALL hours of the night. We had asked for a wake-up call and didn't receive one and, as a result, we were late in getting to our activity.
Review 54:The location of the Inn in relation to our activity was very nice.
Review 55:Everything was okay. The breakfast is just coffee, juice, and a pastry, but it was adequate. The breakfast area is in the small lobby.
Review 56:location (2 miles south of downtown) - price - free parking
Review 57:The WiFi would go low depending on where I walked in the room.
Review 58:Location to downtwallown, and clubs I wanted to visit. I could not hear anyone around me, that is great for me. The WiFi would go low depending on where in the room I walked to.
Review 59:I did not like being on the second floor BUT I did NOT request the first floor. I cannot complain about it and everything else was great.
Review 60:The two vanities, comfortable bed, Wifi, large room, free parking and the location. It was wonderful
Review 61:The staff was very unfriendly. Their was no maid service between nights of stay. had to ask for new towels and when they were given they were dirtier then the ones that were used. The last night there were people running up and down the stairs ubtill 2:30 am. Went to check out at 6:45 am and they wouldn't answer the lobby door to to check out. Worst service ever at a hotel
Review 62:There was nothing to like here. Not sure how it was given a 6 star rating
Review 63:rowdy marathoners and their dj at 8 am! ;-)
Review 64:It is clean, comfy, easy in and out to I71 and I70, and onto High St in the Brewery District. Has mini-fridge and microwave. Close to Short North, and OSU campus and the 'Shoe! Owner is pleasant and knows how to get around town. Handful of taverns / restaurants within walking distance some just 20-50 yards away. Planks!
Review 65:Room toiletries were 2 exceptionally small bars of soap. Not a problem per se, but indicative of the "cost consciousness" of the operation. Desk staff struggled with basic communication, language skills, making obtaining information a challenge. Room did not have a single shred of local/facility info, ie check out time, dining and so on. Again, not a problem if one is prepared, I wasn't, but in the end, ok. I was there to run a local marathon, and the common area with coffee was not open until 7am, late by many traveling standards. Free internet but no password info anywhere in room and office was closed, early. If you know these things, really no problem. Again, for the same activity, I would stay again knowing the limitations in advance.
Review 66:Room was clean, reasonably roomy and furnishings were in good condition and pleasant looking.
Review 67:The room had bedbugs!! Do not stay here!! There was unsanded, unfinished spackling on the wall that had been used to repair a hole in the wall. The staff seemed uninterested to help, even to the point of being rude.
Review 68:It was close to where I needed to be.
Review 69:The bathroom has stains on ceiling, plugins would not hold cell phone chargers, holes worn out. We had a lot of voices outside our room from the patrons in another room, they were very loud and woke us up at 1am, it was kind of scary, the staff gave us a discount on our room upon checking out for the inconvenience of other patrons. Probabaly would not book here again.
Review 70:The room was decent, but abit costly for the room, it was clean, staff was pleasent, parking was good. Bed was comfortable, had refridge and microwave.
Review 71:Towels were paper thin. Carpet has never been cleaned. Maids left early and had to turn in used towels to get clean ones.
Review 72:Location in German village is excellent. Walking distance from many popular restaurants
Review 73:Very cramped parking, loud partying going on all night long with management saying nothing. Management doesn't smile or says Thank You. Couldn'the get management to come to the window when I was wanting to leave. Rooms need a thorough cleaning
Review 74:Nice cleaning lady . Very pleasant person.
Review 75:This is a nice area of town, other reviews say it's not but it is a nice part of town. This hotel was nicer than expected. Myself and a friend came up for the night to Shadowbox and enjoyed it.
Review 76:The shower was slow to drain and the plug in outlets were worn down and couldn't sustain my iPhone charger.
Review 77:My room was so much larger than I had expected! I immediately sent pics to my husband to brag. Way more space for the cost and my expectations!
Review 78:The room was not very clean we ended up checking out and moving on. We were on the ground floor and the ceiling tiles had stians all over them from leaks. He floor was stained and needed to be vacuumed, and we had to call someone to change the sheets, because of dirt and stains on them.
Review 79:The location and price
Review 80:the pillows were totally flat and a waste of comfort - the room was not stocked with soap etc for 2 people - had to go to office to get more soap, shampoo and a new coffee pot - could have used another set of towel which were like sand paper on my skin
Review 81:the price
Review 82:I have already requested for a quite room, but surprisingly they offered me a room in the ground floor, just beside the parking and an outdoor furniture, where people were sitting and talking there until late night.
Review 83:No security issue and in overall relatively good for the money.
Review 84:There might be something wrong with the plumbing because the restroom smells even after we flush it many times.
Review 85:The room has everything we need as a traveller.
Review 86:The main problem for us, that air condition was very bad and it did not work well, so I hate this point in this motel.
Review 87:It was beautiful room and quite. My room was number 29th and I like it.
Review 88:badly stained sheet on box springs, breakfast consists of orange/cranberry juice, coffee, bagel, choice of 2 muffins

Review 104:Shower is a hard stream. Improving that is easy

Review 114:The room i was in carpet bit sticky.
Review 115:The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 116:Dirty Rooms. Staff was also living at the facility and were not very clean or friendly
Review 117:Great Location
Review 118:Charged more than price quoted on Booking.com
Review 119:I like the location. Convenient to the downtown area.
Review 120:Close to Bars, Lots of noise on Saturday night.
Review 121:wifi was very week
Review 122:close to hospital, great free breakfast
Review 123:Hard beds
Review 124:Roomynes cleanliness
