Reviews for Moditlo River Lodge

Review 1:we stayed 3 nights, told them before i only eat fish(no meat) but i saw no fish at all, even in the salads was sometimes biltong.

Review 2:The game drives , big beautiful rooms!

Review 3:We were upset that itwassocloseto main highway and railway tracks and trains as this spoils the feeling of being in the wide open safari feeling. We were disappointed in the number of birds. The meals were very adequate, but not outstanding, but still a very great resort!

Review 4:The driverguide MikeandthetrackerCaswellwere excellent. The staff were very good, friendly and professional A wonderful facility beautifullykept

Review 5:We have been in Moditlo only one day and had two Safari drives...which is probably not enough...It's a matter of luck...after Moditlo we spent 5 days in Kruger and saw a lot of Games there and enjoyed driving by ourselves.

Review 6:The setup of the camp is fabulous. Mike the guide of our Safari Drives was amazing. Devoted to his job and put all what he could to amaze us.

Review 7:Issues with payment demanded us to email them our total credit card number incl ccv code prior to arrival ?? we wantes to pay via secure service like booking.com since we booked that way. they could not clear out payment when we wanted to pay at front desk. still a month after the trip they demand us to give them total credit card number incl ccv wich I hope no customer ever do.

Review 8:nice room good guide & safari nice pool area

Review 9:Our only suggestion to other guests would be if you would like to sit on your own in the evening for dinner, remember to ask the staff earlier in the day (they generally sit people on game drives together but offer to separate you if you prefer). We wanted to sit alone on our last evening just for some privacy but forgot to ask earlier in the day and it would have been a bit awkward to split off once the table had already been laid as we didn't want to offend the other guests.

Review 10:All of the staff were incredibly friendly. They take a genuine interest in your holiday and game drives. Perhaps the biggest highlight of our trip, we did 4 games drives and they were so much fun. Aurella was our ranger and Derek our tracker - a brilliant team together, very friendly and give you a lot of information about the animals and the bush. They work incredibly hard to make sure you have a brilliant experience - we often left Derek in the bush somewhere tracking animals on foot and that became a game in itself trying to spot him too! They will go off track which is a lot of fun and allowed us to get close to the animals. We encountered Cheetah's on foot, rhino up close and lions whilst they were hunting wildebeest to name a few. Delicious food, the chef will greet you in the evening and tell you your options for main courses (the menu otherwise is set but you are asked for dietary requires prior to arrival). All of our meals were amazing and high standard. They even made us a packed lunch for when we ventured out for the day. The main lodge is very beautiful. The rooms are very spacious with a good set up - the shower is set in a bay of windows and bath by the opening glass doors so you can see into the bush.

Review 11:Moditlo Lodge is a stay both myself and my partner will never forget. Tuli and Mike looked after us from start to finish and treated us like royalty, nothing was too much to ask and they were there throughout the day to offer us both food and drinks. That said the food is incredible, lost of choice for both breakfast, lunch and dinner. The rooms are incredibly luxurious and the Game Drives are fantastic, nothing you will ever experience/forget. It's like staying with family, thank you Moditlo for our most memorable trip so far!

Review 12:Too much interaction with guest and I felt they spoiled my whole experience. Very snobbish & rude. Had to spend 7 - 8 hours with them so I really didn't enjoy my stay as much as I would have. And this is a big let down. Also the food really wasn't that great and a private table would have been preferred.

Review 13:Our 2 travel guides made sure we saw lions and they were very experienced. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very nice room and comfy bed and beautiful surroundings.

Review 14:Very minor negatives of no spa and no wifi in the lodges, just the main building. Really shouldn't be a problem when there is so much to be doing though.

Review 15:Service and lodges were 5*. Sipho in particular was very helpful. Because its a fairly new resort I got a good deal so it was value for money and great service you would expect from a top resort. Everything is new, modern, clean and contemporary. The Game drives were so exciting. Aurella tried so hard to find all the animals. Its very close to Krugar park too if you want to do a day trip there (sable tours were fab!)

Review 16:Just over three weeks ago my wife and I stayed at the Moditio River Lodge for three nights..in effect four days. We had an amazing time at the Lodge. The food was first class. Great Guides and Drivers. The support Management and Staff were always very helpful ....and gave lots and lots of welcoming smiles. During our stay we saw an amazing amount of game during both the early morning and evening game drives. My claim to fame at the Lodge will be that I spotted a Black Mamba snake quite close to the game truck as we drive through the Bush

Review 17:Could hear couple in the next room through the door adjoining the rooms; problem with the hot water on my last day.

Review 18:Wasn't sure what to expect from this lodge after having just visited four other luxury safari camps. I was pleasantly surprised. The lodge is beautiful, well positioned in the bush but still pretty close to the airport at Hoedspruit. The rooms were quite lovely, spacious and allowed you to feel like you were outdoors (two of the shower walls were glass windows allowing you to see animals grazing around your room). The food was well prepared. The safari guides were wonderful, working tirelessly to find animals. We saw lions, cheetahs, giraffes, white rhino and numerous other animals. The staff was pleasant, attentive, professional. I was picked up at the airport without a hitch. There were only a couple of issues that I'd mention. One was on my last day when there was no hot water. I notified the staff but they were unable to get it fixed before I needed to leave for the airport in the afternoon so I had to take a cold shower. The other is the doors between the two rooms in each building. There are slatted wood doors connecting the rooms (so you can join the rooms if you've got a group or family). The way these doors are designed, they allow you to hear precisely what is happening and being said in the next room. Privacy is limited because of this. They should change these doors to be solid wood instead of slatted wood. You can also hear road noise from a nearby road and occasionally from the airport but only sitting outside your room on the patio. Its really not a distraction. But in spite of those issues, I would choose this lodge again.

Review 19:Simply unbelievable! The staff is super friendly, food is amazing, accommodations are comfortable and trendy. The game drives are also really nice, with great guides in a beautiful reserve.

Review 20:Having to leave the place.

Review 23:One afternoon missed hot water.

Review 24:The staff and everything was very well planned.

Review 25:We had the most amazing 4 days. Game drives twice a day were spectacular. The hotel, food and service was exceptional.

Review 26:Staff, game drives, comfort, food, ease of arrival and departure. All a pleasure!

Review 27:No internet in the rooms. But thats not a real issue if you came to Africa to enjoy nature !

Review 28:The rooms were great !

Review 29:The friendliness of the staff, the beauty of the facilities, and the many wonderful wild animals we experienced!

Review 30:The game drives were fantastic. Our guide was very knowledgeable on the flora and fauna of the area. He was very friendly and it was a pleasure to listen to him. He made sure that everyone learned something about the African bush. The staff at the lodge were wonderful and the food was just excellent. This was our best holiday in years. We look forward to our next trip to Moditlo Lodge. Absolute tops for comfort, relaxation and game viewing.

Review 31:New resort, rooms and facilities very modern. Excellent guides and staff. Plenty of game on the reserve.

Review 32:Everything was excellent!
