Reviews for Maashof

Review 1:Little care for details (hardly ant toiletries, no rug in front of the room door (opening to the outside, where it was very dirty bc of the near by renovation). Staff unexperienced and very little caring for the guests.

Review 2:Very spacious and clean rooms.

Review 3:Waiting for staff to check in, rang bell twice. Room had no window...correction window onto corridor, should have been made aware at booking no natural light in basement no fresh air. Understaffed dinner, waited for a menu ten minutes. Menu at dinner was not what was offered at check in counter. Loud all night, every door slam vibrated our door. Echos. Flies at breakfast. Nobody once asked how's your stay.

Review 4:Location to motoway

Review 5:All staff were attentive and helpful. The hotel and our suite was clean, spacious and modern. The dinner menu was varied and reasonably priced. Parking was free.

Review 6:Got lost trying to find the room! Rescued by the receptionist. Thebreakfast was ok but could possibly have been better. Butter in thosefiddly foil-topped little plastic boxes always seems to say thatminimising costs is more important than presentation and style.

Review 7:The room (no 24, one of the suites). The terrace and the view of the lake.

Review 8:Adjoining room in the basement was noisy from room next door & machine noises from above in the late evening...

Review 9:Chicken salad & hotel grounds brill...

Review 10:Problem with hearing telephone conversations from adjoining room through the adjoining door. Shame reception was closed after 10pm. Being close to water gave more than usual number of flies buzzing around but nothing major and would not deter us from visiting again. Lack of air-con in rooms was a slight issue in mid summer. No tea/coffee making facilities in room but was included with lovely breakfast.

Review 11:bathroom design, staff spoke very good English, staff hard working, modern design and good layout of building, relaxing.food was good value.Plenty of parking.Watching people fish for trout from your table.

Review 12:Fly control could be improved, in the breakfast room, and in bedrooms, a non smoking area outside would be good for the non smokers.

Review 13:Lovely location, staff, all the improvements . The food in the restaraunt was excellent and value for money

Review 14:Because of our change of date we had to have a room at the rear , rather than at the front overlooking the lakes, and this was less attractive, but very comfortable.

Review 15:Lovely location with a raised outdoor terrace , and dining room looking over and onto a series of four landscaped fishing lakes.Very good facilities. Good parking on site .We had to make a last minute change of date, which was dealt with very efficiently The fishing is an attraction, and does not impinge on the guests.

Review 16:The breakfast was mediocre in comparison to the standard of the hotel.

Review 17:The location to main highway was excellent. The hotel was a tranquil and beautiful place. The small fishing lake outside was a wonderful outlook with lovely areas to walk round and the patio outside the room was an added bonus. Would have like to stay longer and enjoy the surroundings.

Review 18:Only the slight wait for someone to attend at reception initially gave a slightly negative impression; although this was quickly dispelled by the subsequent excellent service

Review 19:Despite arriving just as the kitchen was closing for the night was still offered and served a meal. Comfortable rooms and the location is charming: a small oasis only five minutes drive from the motorway. highly recommended.

Review 20:The clear poultry soup was v.salty so it could not be eaten & the view from our downstairs bedroom window was level with the pavement...

Review 21:Location, surroundings, friendly staff...

Review 22:Not enough light in rooms, difficult to apply make up. We had 4 course meal, main course a bit disappointing

Review 23:Liked the setting, the minimalistic approach, very friendly staff, lovely coffee.

Review 24:Asparagus soup for Euro 13 a small bowl lol

Review 25:Liked everything about this hotel, Group of 6 Harley Motorcycles, they opened their private garage to keep our bikes overnight, Free.

Review 26:They closed the hotel at 10:30pm and don't open till 7:15am having flown into Düsseldorf and flight was delay along with car trouble I turned up at 1am to find the places closed down! I made numerous callls and email no response- I never received a call or email to ask if I was coming! As a result I had to sleep in car till they opened a 7:15 in cold and wet temperatures! They claim its my fault as it states on website it closes at 10.30! No effort to say sorry or offer any compensation!

Review 27:Nothing

Review 28:Very noisy room. I asked to change rooms but nothing was available anymore and they knew that this room is noisy, but still rent it. It was under the restaurant and bar, I could here everything.

Review 29:Staff very friendly. Clean room.

Review 30:Wi-fi kept dropping out No tea / coffee making facilities in the room Towels could do with being bigger, all like hand towels Some brighter lights in the rooms

Review 31:I liked the venue, very scenic I liked the staff, very nice and helpful I liked the food / beer I liked the atmosphere

Review 32:Wifi in the room a little weak and the lobby is more a pub (good for drinking and eating, but not if you need to work or read).

Review 33:Cleanliness, staff kindness, comfort and the cost for the service provided

Review 34:Not any in- or outdoor equipment available for young children, though there is space to run.

Review 35:Very nice location to stop for a night. Very close to the motorway. Very quiet. Very friendly staff. Good restaurant and nice breakfast. Rooms are comfortable and very clean.

Review 36:We could not get wifi reception in the suite which was a little frustrating. Water pressure could have been better.

Review 37:Really nice suite. Lovely looking hotel in peaceful grounds. Nice breakfast.

Review 38:On arrival on a 1°C day our room was extremely cold despite having booked the room the day before. The floor heating was off & with this type of heating it takes many hours to reach a reasonable temperature. We approached reception for a portable heater which was provided without fuss, but it still took some time to get any degree of comfort.

Review 39:Well appointed resort style accommodation in lovely wooded setting with large trout ponds. Good parking. Beautifully cooked & presented meals in the restaurant.

Review 40:Not that easy to find at night as entrance not well lit. Car park was very full when we arrived in the evening but we did eventually get a space. No tea and coffee making facility in rooms.

Review 41:Excellent restaurant with very good service and reasonable price. Lovely position on the lakes, very pretty. Value for money. Nice rooms with comfortable beds.

Review 42:Nothing except our stays are too short!

Review 43:For the past few years we have stayed here en route to our holiday destination in southern Germany and also on our way home. In its lovely setting the hotel offers us time to completely relax between journeys. Excellent cuisine, friendly and caring staff. We love it!

Review 44:Bathroom lighting over sink was poor for shaving and applying makeup. Shown to room via stairway which was not well lit and narrow, making it awkward carrying luggage. Leaving such a great place. Living so far away from it.

Review 45:Relaxed atmosphere in very pleasant surroundings. Open air dining and sitting out just chilling. The local area had plenty of places to walk. The friendliness of the staff. Not having someone hovering whilst having breakfast. Everton Red wine.

Review 46:Air condition would be needed, because the air in the rooms is not very fresh and it was very warm to sleep well. Also, slightly more light would be needed, the room was very dark.

Review 47:We stayed for one night, it was ok. Nice spacious rooms. Very good bed and pillow! Nice view from the hotel restaurant. Breakfast ok.

Review 99:Good location, nice food, friendly staff

Review 100:The building works! The bathrooms are dark and no where to place toilet bag.

Review 101:The grounds- when building work finished

Review 102:Excellent hotel, with great ambiance. Staff very helpful and friendly. We will certainly return

Review 103:There was nothing I didn't like.

Review 104:French doors to balcony was a great future.

Review 105:There was not anything which concerned us

Review 106:The staff could not have been more helpful, the room was excellent and the facilities beyond our expectations

Review 107:Temperature of room (6) was cold and adjusting the thermostat didn't seem to make a difference. Lighting in room was quite dull, difficult to read. Room price should include one visit to the adjoining swimming pool per day. Most people won't use it but it would be appreciated by all.

Review 108:Quality of fixtures, fittings, food and service were all excellent.

Review 109:they never put a cover on the table during the lunch/dinner, dishes, forks and knives are laid on the bare table and it's not very hygenic...

Review 110:quite and relaxing place, I am use to travelling quite a lot to Netherlands and I always spend a night in this hotel 'cause is very close to my customers

Review 111:The room temperature was hard to control; it stayed rather cold during the night.

Review 112:The place is well located, in a peaceful area but yet quite close to the highway. Rooms were spacious and the restaurant area is nice and cosy.

Review 113:......That our schedule was too tide and we could spend one night only.

Review 114:Hotel Maashof has been a real surprise for us, as we did not expext toarrive at a jewel of hospitality. The room (a one bedroom suite) wasspacious, comfortable, cosy and quiete. The food at the restaurant wasfirst class in terms of taste, very reasonable in price, somehow opulentof of excellent quality and cooking. Breakfast buffet is generous and asuperb selection.....better than in some 5-star hotels. The staff isvery friendly and assisting but not intrusive, which is very relaxing. No stress at all. Parking is free. Same is regarding internet. Maashofis a place for people who are looking for something special. It is alsoconventiently located to the motorway.

Review 115:My parent's room (21) was rather cramped and dark - (20) ours was OK. It was claimed that 21 was the last room available but we booked many months ago. There was a bit of noise through the night from the machinery associated with the fishing lakes which appear to be the main attraction of the hotel.

Review 116:Very comfortable with good, reasonably priced, food. Helpful staff. We were staying with my elderly parents but it was clear that most visitors were younger families - the location and facilities were clearly very attractive to them. It was only an overnight stop en-route from Berlin to UK but was conveniently situated - we didn't have a chance to look at Venlo.

Review 117:There are four fishing lakes on site that get very busy. The hotel has a catch and keep policy which is fine until drunken youths with no respect for animal welfare try to kill a fish by slamming it to the floor and then stepping on it. The majority of the fishermen were responsible enough to despatch the catch quickly and humanely. I should point out that I like to fish myself.

Review 118:The staff were very helpful/friendly. All staff spoke English. The hotel is very comfortable and clean, it is far enough away from civilisation to be considered quiet and remote but close enough (20 minute walk) to Blerick and Venlo to go shopping and sight seeing.

Review 119:Restaurant food not very child-friendly and perhaps a bit expensive. But fine for adults...

Review 120:Lovely location with a view at the trout fishing ponds. Clean, comfortable, great breakfast.

Review 121:can be quite noisy if a function is on till quite late 1am. that is if your room is situated near the bar and restaurant area. quite a long walk into venlo town taxi advised

Review 122:Set in lovely location woodlands etc. clean and spacious room great terrace to sit out on in the evening and bar just a short walk away.friendly staff. a nice setting all round price for room was good value. would definately book again at that price. breakfast was excellent.

Review 123:Unfortunately, the cooked breakfast items were cold - however, all else on the breakfast menu was very good.

Review 124:In particular, the friendly staff, the cleanliness of the Maashof, the easy parking facilities and the peace and quiet of the surroundings.

Review 125:This is a Trout Fishing club about 1 mile from the motorway & right next to an industrial warehouse- not in the middle of countryside. On the night of our stay there was a party on the verandah right above our room which went on until 3 o'clock in the morning!! Finally managed about 4 hours sleep before the fishermen were out & about. Beware - not a place for a good night's sleep!!

Review 126:Absolutely poor service Flies all over the breakfast Check in staff in- Friendly On arrival in the evening we were told if we wanted dinner we have to immediately book table & eat. We sat for 1 hr 10 mts before our meal arrived The menu lacked selection & food was average for the price paid I would not recommend this 3 star hotel to any one
