Reviews for Grand hotel Praha
Review 1:The beds were quite hard.
Review 2:The wonderful main reception room with a huge Christmas tree and grand piano playing, the very good food and excellent waiter service and the amazing outdoor hot infinity pool...wonderful to relax in.
Review 3:Single beds are not comfortabl Pillows are good quality but too thick two thin pillows be better Breakfast buffet is very poorly Can be improved a lot
Review 4:Clean .all ficilities are available . Staff are friendly
Review 5:We stayed in deluxe room and didnt have coffee. Every single cheap hotel offer sachet of Nescafe. The menu in the restaurant could have more choices of food.
Review 6:Spas are excellent we were very happy with the hot pool outside
Review 7:There was a number of big disadvantages: 1. The toilet in the room smelled of urine from the begining of our stay. We asked to do something with it 3 times, but nothing has changed. 2. Once we were woked up at night because of the fire alarm, we left our room and had to wait in the lobby for halph of an hour. No one has explained to us the reason and apologised. 3. Our room was never cleaned up good enough. It looked like they only changed towels and folded blankets. Sometimes they even didn't throw empty bottles and didn't wash the glasses. 4. The most dissapointing story happened, when we wanted to take a kind of excursion (visiting the top of the mountain), which was organised by another company, but was able to booked by the hotel receptionist. We asked about possible time and cost of it and than said to receptionst, that we will probably come later to reserve it. All the receptionists can barely speak English... So the next day, when we came to reception, they told us, that we already made the reservation for this excurtion yesturday, but didn't come at time and that's why we should pay the whole amount of money for it (about 100 euro for 4 people). We had a big talk, I explained, that I didn't reserve it - I was just asking about details. After 30 minutes they agreed with me and told, that they won't take money from me. Okay, this probably was a misunderstanding... But they could apologise for it... But! When we made a check-out after 3 days since this story, I was looking on the bill they gave me and found this excurtion on it. They included it into the bill. And the most funny, that the receptionist was the same girl, with whom I've been talking about this before. They thought, that I won't look at the bill attentively and they could get the money by the trick...
Review 8:Beautiful building and view. Dishes on the morning and evening was good. Good transfer from hotel to ski point. Good wifi. Good matress.
Review 9:Where to begin?? When we arrived the greeting was short and rude. Told we could not check in until two o'clock, full stop no further assistance. We had booked one night seperate to our other three. For over $250AUD we got the budget room. It comes with unsafe wiring on the lamps, waves of stained carpet, torn curtains and generally chipped, worn and faded. When I complained to one of the managers I was told that is s budget room - risk of electrocution is free. Couldn't rent ski equipment as advertised very rude staff member told me NO. Reception staff were very unhelpful they made us check out although we were booked to stay another three nights (booked seperatley) with all our bags no offer to store them etc. and checking at 2pm. The Spa staff were rude. There were further incidents overall a horrid experience and not a place I would recommend. I did complain to a different manager who was very apologetic and had a gift bag sent to our room - she was extremely professional one of the very few good points.
Review 10:The restaurant staff especially the Maitre d' and the breakfast were the only good points.
Review 11:The rooms are relatively small. We had half board but nobody mentioned that beverages are out of the price excluded what significantly increases the price (can of tap water-EUR 2.50). No animation program for the Kids (even on NY Eve animation program was on poor level)
Review 12:The location of the hotel is marvelous. The ambiance is great. The stuff is helpful but in particular the shuttle bus driver - I would like to thank him for his kindness.
Review 13:The Staff does not speack english or german . No smileys in the reception. The room was cleaned twice in a week In the end we had to pay 118 euro more then in the reservation because they said it was the Cristmas dinner - nobody told us something like this at check in or before check out
Review 14:This was our second stay at Grand hotel Praha. We love the outdoor infinity pool with views of the mountains, the luxurious spa, the excellent service, the grand piano playing in the evenings, the beautiful spacious rooms and the great food. We will be back!
Review 15:The rooms in the historical building seem to be renovated only partially, the old ones look really bad. It was extremely hot in the room we stayed in the new building with no possibility to change the temperature ourselves, as there was no separate air conditioner. The staff admitted to have some problems with the heating in the whole building.
Review 16:While checking in make sure you get the room in the new building. The room which was offered to us at the beginning could hardly appear in any 4 stars hotel. The spa area with the outdoor swimming pool is great.
Review 17:We had some little problems with the door wheels in our shower, but we managed it after all.
Review 18:We absolutely enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We had a deluxe room so we had everything what we needed. We totally loved the wellness, tasty breakfast, view and location. Staff was also friendly and helpful. Very comfy place, will come again.
Review 19:Breakfast could be better, staff takes too long to replace missing food. Spare bed not comfortable. Breakfast food not friendly to people with food limitations or allergies. Pillows are too big and not comfortable.
Review 20:Location is great, spa with outside pool.
Review 21:I was very happy there was a coffee machine in the room, but there was no facility to make a tea...
Review 22:Adorably decorated spa with incredibly friendly service! Silver service restaurant and again very friendly and helpfull staff.
Review 23:We were greeted with, "a mistake has been made. You can't stay here. You will have to stay at our sister hotel." This was very upsetting and should not happen. We told them we had booked months ago (about 5, I think) and asked if they could sort things out so we could stay. To give them their due they did. But why does something like that happen? Did they think they could get someone who would pay more or stay longer? It left a bad taste in the mouth, though we loved the hotel.
Review 24:The art deco and 'castle-like' style of the building; the lovely bedroom and the dining room. The inner and outdoor pools. Good value for money.
Review 25:Old fashioned interior; check-out at 10 a.m, saunas are open from 3 p.m. (!!!), room with some noisy device floor below working whole night, need to register for supper like in a school canteen, the staff need some training how to serve the guests,no wi fi working, needs renovation in certain points
Review 26:Outdoor pools
Review 27:A beautiful classic hotel with great views of the Tatra Mountains. The manager was very helpful in recommending sightseeing options for us and the front desk spent time with us concerning the logistics of our day trips. Each morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast looking out on the grounds of the hotel. We had dinner there twice and really enjoyed both meals.
Review 28:My Mom complained of hard beds. They had a wellness center, but since we arrived at 6,00 and had to vacate at 10,00 in the morning,we could not use it. Plus you had to make reservations for this before hand. We knew this was going to be a pricey experience, but somehow, the old-fashion aristocratic ambiance never really seemed to be worth the price. Wi-fi only in the hall.
Review 29:It was nice to stay at a historic art nouveau hotel and get the white glove treatment in the dining experience. Breakfast was great.
Review 30:No WI-Fi in rooms and no internet in rooms so if you need to find some information, you have to sit at the lounge.
Review 31:Very comfortable, good service. European feeling with consistent USA-tourist creature comforts (nice baths, sheets, and good mattresses). Location was very good. The location of hotel is wonderful. It was good to wake up to the view of The Grand Tatrys in the morning and look at the brilliant lights of the tiny city during the night. Fantastic! The room was very large, comfortable, more a suite than a hotel room, the views amazing .Breakfast were outstanding (many options, fresh, tasty), so was the dinner (a la carte). We really enjoyed hotel's SPA (nice outside pool, several types of sauna), and the ambiance of lobby bar in the evening. All hotel's staff, from receptionists to waiters were polite and friendly. It is a hotel with its history and has unique position and views.
Review 32:No tea making facilities in the room.
Review 33:Amazing interior and beautiful scenery, not to mention excellent spa facilities. Great value for money and we can't wait to go back to Grandhotel Praha. It was a truly luxurious and unforgettable experience!
Review 34:The mini gym feels like a tacked-on affair, which is perhaps a little odd for a 'wellness' hotel. But hardly a major problem for a short stay.
Review 35:Lovely hotel which feels that bit special when you arrive - helped by excellent staff on the front desk. Lawns and beautiful rooms to dine in or take a drink. This place was our last night on an eight-day hike along the Tatra's and it's a very nice hotel to chill out in.
Review 36:No free Wi-Fi in the room, lack of storage in the room (in-room unnecessary kitchen should be replaced with more shelves and hangers), dark hallways (too obvious energy saving), spa opening hours (from 10 am until 9 pm only), no air-conditioning in the room (Deluxe!), understaffed bar (1 waiter = 1 bartender), shabby / battered carpets and furnishings.
Review 37:Setting, historical building, outisde infinity pool with massage jets.
Review 38:Grand Hotel as a name is an overstatement, rooms looks like taken from the 90's, actually carpets haven't been changed since then for sure. Furniture looks like in 2 star hotel but room was clean.
Review 39:nice spa and swimming pool area and location overlooking the valley (if you get the room on proper side, otherwise you'll face the parking lot:-()
Review 40:As mentioned in other reviews, the wifi is absolutely horrible for someone that needs access to work etc. The only place in the building that the Access points worked, was the lobby of the hotel. We have coverage in all rooms but non of them worked which was quite annoying. Also first got put into a room that had developed a smell of sceptic from the bathroom (since its a old hotel there was something wrong) and they put us in a deluxe room which was 100x better. If you thinking about booking seriously spend the extra money for those rooms, itll make you stay so much better and more pleasant.
Review 41:Location was perfect, The breakfast and dinners were amazing. Staff was friendly and very helpful and even had very good english which was a bonus. Hotel had atmosphere and the spa was amazing as well. The hotel has an amazing view of the Tatras and was a short walk from the town center to get supplies for trips during the day.
Review 42:We couldnt check in until after two and we had to check out by ten am the next morning. Breakfast is served till ten. The pool closes at 9 pm. The WIFI is terribly slow and only available in the lobby or main hall. Hello people it is 2015. We had hair in our bathroom and toilet area. The bed was terribly firm for me but my wife slept ok. She can sleep on concrete ftr. The room was spacious for europe but laid out poorly and dated furishings. Additionally, the servers were nice but understaffed in the evenings. Im a cargo/mil pilot for the record in my mid thirties since it asks mature or young couple. Not snotty but like to have decent accomodations for the price. There was no AC FTR. Probably not neccessary, but it was in the high twenties while we were there.
Review 43:The staff was friendly and the breakfast was nice. The pools were ok but had limited hours. Better if you have a car for this property.
Review 44:Spa opens at 10,00 a.m. only, and lack of WIFI or cable internet in rooms. Internet in public areas was slow, so it was hard to use it for work.
Review 45:Large comfortable rooms, good restaurant (both dinner and breakfast), nice location, fresh air. Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 46:Poor wifi (May be not disadvantage if we stay for relaxing), Juice at breakfast is not a juice, it is coloured water.
Review 47:Relaxing outside pool with 38 degree warm water and panorama view, indoor pool, very friendly staff, live piano player friday evening, rich breakfast
Review 48:Bed was quit uncomfortable and some pieces of furniture in our room weren't ancient but old /old fashion/
Review 49:Atmosphere of this hotel is really amazing, we liked it style and location too. Having a drink in lobby bar made you feel to be in 20s :-) Staff is really very helpful, smiling and able to solve any type of issue without problem. Wellness center and massage were just perfect. There is a huge choise of every type of meal for breakfast, we weren't even able to try everything :-) Dinner was very tasty too.
Review 50:Bit too old fashion inside compared to price as well as bar closed at 11.30pm saturday night.... Breakfast Ok but no croissants, nither fresh juices (Poor chemicals)....and coffee machine only.....
Review 51:Hotel room, wellness center, food
Review 52:Hotel is selling skipasses, takes deposits for them and then asks to return them to infocenter located 1km outside. Looks very strange for a 4 star hotel.
Review 53:Nice old renovated hotel, good food, superb spa included in the price. Well arranged skibus service with such a service minded and helpful bus driver that each trip becames a pleasure.
Review 54:The double rooms could be refurbished or have a better pricing. You can find better rooms closeby for the same or lower price. Ironing of clothes for a surcharge (without previous notice) because iron was not available at the reception.
Review 55:Breakfast, wellness, location, overall atmosphere of the hotel
Review 56:One of our rooms was very small, we kept hitting the bed every time we came out of the bathroom. This was a deluxe room in the new extension section of the hotel.
Review 57:Wellness spa with outdoor infinity pool was amazing, relaxing in the pool at -4 C with the stars above.. We had 2 rooms one of them was very big and comfortable.
Review 58:The hotel bar is very small and there isn't a non smoking part so not good if you are a non-smoker!
Review 59:The hotel is actually an old historic building but recenlty refurbished, very nice, clean and has a lot of character. We stayed in the newly built extension, the room was spacious, modern and bed very comfortable, nice view, free wifi, well stocked minibar, nice bathroom with free robes and slippers. It was very cold outside -15C at night but the room was nice and warm! Free access to spa with outdoor heated pool, a buffet style breakfast with plenty to choose from. The restaurant is a bit pricey but very good service and nice food, they also offer a cheaper set dinner menu with a choice of 3 meals. The staff are very nice and available 24/7, hotel is pet and baby friendly, would definitely recommend if you are looking for a nice chilled out holiday!
Review 60:Poor quality of cooked eggs on breakfast, loud neighbour in next room, small room, no balcony, disturbing extractor fan in bathroom during windy night, can't do attitude of reception supervisor
Review 61:Wellness, dinning, skibus, helpful reception staff
Review 62:Extremely hard bed, very uncomfortable. Check-out was a nightmare - the check out time is 10AM, which of course causes a huge amount of people trying to get out in that short window, instead of having the ladies at the reception bother guests with some value cards, they should expect the crowds and put in more staff.
Review 63:Staff - nice, smiling. Dinner - went for the a la carte, good selection and very tasty, good wine card.
Review 64:- We needed to exchange our bathrobe as it was dirty on our arrival (though it got changed in 2 minutes)
Review 65:- Service, service, service! Staff is superb at Grandhotel Praha, very helpful and attentive, with a big smile. Particularly great reception agents, wow! - Grand Mountain SPA is magnificent and is included in the price, outdoor heated pool is top notch with splendid views - Breakfast is plentiful - Free parking - In-room cosmetics are of a good value, well done! - Perfect location
Review 66:Paper-thin walls,so if your neighbor snores, impossible to sleep. Wechanged the room, the new neighbor was snoring even louder! The staffdidn't proactively prevent people from having parties in thecorridor. It's mainly a family hotel, the indoor pool was full ofkids, no possibility to enjoy. Also, if you go to the spa, you areobliged to change in the room. But there are people who stay inbathrobes and sit like that in the lobbies the whole day long (withshoes and socks on!). It is a good look for a mental institution but notfor a 4* hotel for 250 €/night. The cleaning ladies didn't speaka word of English and certain receptionists didn't understand useither. The gym is tiny. When we asked for an ironing board, we bothtimes had to wait until finally we went for dinner in un-ironed clothes.
Review 67:The infinity pool is a wonderful experience. The food is fantastic. Thelocation is very good and in the morning the sun shines in the diningroom while you are having breakfast! The staff don't speak muchEnglish but they are professional and helpful. However, they didn'thave the necessary information about the only train going through thecity or the ski pistes.
Review 68:The double room was two single beds pushed togetger which was ok for 3 nights but not any longer! I tried to book a transfer from the airport to hotel but it never arrived so got a taxi which was cheaper anyway! The hotel shuttle bus to the slopes only carries 7 people so it's best to walk as you can barely get on it and some people don't understand how to queue!
Review 69:Primary purpose of trip was to ski, the hotel is within walking distance of the slopes. Food was a set menu which was nicer than a buffet. Spa was fantastic with excellent facilities and plenty of room! Staff were quite helpful with queries
Review 70:just some small details not worth mentioning...
Review 71:amazing outdoor pool and spa in general, delicious diners and big variety of breakfast, staff, own ski bus, nice room with great views of valley, location and good value of package
Review 72:- very poor wifi (tested speed only up to 0.32 mbps) would often drop - dinner (we purchased half board) - a selection of 3 meals of average quality (only 1 vegetarian) - it wasn't bad food but not something you'd expect in a 4star hotel, a buffet would be much better - breakfast gets quite crowded some days - overall there seems to be an emphasis on creating an image of a luxurious 4star hotel with lack of attention for the really important things, I mean if I had to choose between a waiter in white gloves or a nice dinner buffet with better food, I d choose the buffet
Review 73:- rooms in the new building - ask for a room in the new part of the hotel above the spa - breakfast buffet selection was fine, coffee and juices were average, a selection of cold herbal teas was nice - wellness & spa, which is included in the price of the room - the staff was very good for High Tatras standards - if you are used to western Europe standards you might find some of the staff incompetent
Review 74:Modest decor and furnishings of rooms Ornaments made of plaster, badly stuck, impressive kitsch A small selection of food for breakfast Lots of wifi network but none of them work properly
Review 75:Great location on a hill above the Tatrzanska Lomnica Beautiful view Close to ski lifts New, well-arranged spa
Review 76:The infinity pool, the spa, the views and the size of the rooms was excellent. We has a valley facing room, with some of the most amazing views ever. It's not a luxurious hotel but it has character and great facilities. The food at dinner and breakfast was plentiful but on the basic side.
Review 77:Bedroom had 2 narrow and closely placed single beds, room was renovated but was still a bit "old communist-style" design. Otherwise the hotel is a gem.
Review 78:Beautifully renovated historic hotel with both indoor and outdoor mountainside modern spa facilities. Breakfast buffet is plentiful. Dinner can be a la carte or the daily offer with appetizer, choice of 3 main courses and dessert (small servings), coffee and cake apres afternoon hiking/spa is great. Reception staff spoke English well and were very helpful. Room was quiet, view was exceptional and bathroom huge; nice spa bathrobes.
Review 79:Still not on a level of 4* hotel compare to international hotels, missing few details. A lot of to do in terms of meal, needs more international kitchen.
Review 80:Great location, beautiful view
Review 81:Didn't always feel welcoming, reception staff not particularly trained in customer service
Review 82:Decent breskfast choice. Lived the spa facilities after a days walk
Review 83:Hotel needs more remodeling. Not all rooms and facǐities are renovated. In case management want to keep such a high price level and guests, it is neccesary to complete renovation, outside cafe is very poor. Not comfortable to enjoying coffee. Aperitiv bar is also out of todays standards.
Review 84:Location, SPA,
Review 85:The bread at the dinnertable was much better than at breakfast. The outdoor pool got a little overcrowded at the end of the afternoon.
Review 86:Wonderful spacious rooms. Glorious ambiance. Excellent spa facilities.
Review 87:The bedroom was in a very poor state, and looked absolutely nothing like what I thought I was booking based on the photo that advertised on the website, - more like a 1 star motel I would say - total misinformation. Cigarette burns in the armchairs, stains and food on the seats, desks and table tops stained. The bedlinen and towels were clean, but the duvets smelled unpleasant. The carpet was clean at least. The bathroom was absolutely tiny, the rooms were very dark. Our room had an adjoining door to the room next door meaning we could hear our neighbours all the time - and presumably, vice versa (thin walls). The WiFi barely functioned in the rooms, the hallways were barely lit..... very disappointing.
Review 88:the food was good. Dinner and breakfast (we were half board) were both good - the staff in the restaurant were thoughtful and the quality was good in this area. The spa had a nice outdoor heated pool which was fun to go in.
Review 89:Rooms need to be redecorated, dirty carpet and there is drasic difference how room and common areas look like. There is just white wall in the rom and picture from soviet times :) Toilet and bathroom are separate which means you have to run around to wash your hands. Staff has poor English skills.
Review 90:SPA with saunas and swimming pools is excellent! That's why I can suggest this hotel. Food is also OK.
Review 91:WiFi was not working on the first floor. It was available in the lobby area at least.
Review 92:Very nice place and friendly staff. After the whole-day motorcycle ride we especially enjoyed the spa area. We will return for sure.
Review 93:Very nice room, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was quite good - a very large selection of food. However, the highlight is the Spa center. The saunas are great and the outdoor infinity pool is amazing.
Review 94:Outstanding good value: room with a good view of valley, breakfast, 3 course chef cooked gourmet evening meal and free access to spa (hot pools, jacuzzi, hot tubs, several saunas) all for a modest price! Sorry we didn't book in for longer than the 3 nights
Review 95:Would like to have more local cousine in the menu
Review 96:Friendly staff, great location for hiking, very good food and breakfast options. Amazing spa facilities.
Review 97:Everything, not worth for the money. Hotel staff does not communicate.
Review 98:Nothing
Review 99:Restaurant closed at 9pm. After this time there was nowhere to eat, not even snacks
Review 100:Amazing view, beautiful hotel and friendly staff
Review 101:Breakfast, comfortable suite in new part of the building, wellness
Review 102:Very good stuff Nice hotel with historical spirit Modern apartement Top quality SPA Very tasty dinner
Review 103:The bedrooms are really outdated. Hardly any hot water in the morning for my shower. No tea and coffee in the room.
Review 104:everything!!! heated pool, saunas, great breakfast
Review 105:a bit outdated "standard" rooms
Review 106:atmosphere, breakfast, location
Review 107:Poor internet connection
Review 108:Swimming pool and spa Breakfast Location
Review 109:The wifi is not available in the rooms, only in the lobby.
Review 110:I liked the new upgraded room. The old rooms are a bit shabby.
Review 111:NO kids menu for dinner No Wifi in rooms
Review 112:No wifi.
Review 113:The SPA is amazing.
Review 114:Very small room in the new wing. Bad ventilation.
Review 115:Rest was excelleNt
Review 116:Wifi only in the public areas. Didint like the food View from outdoor pool is covered by bushes.
Review 117:Location, style, interior, pool area.
Review 118:Furniture in room is not renewed yet, and ugly.
Review 119:Renewed spaces are very nice, breakfast is good, great view from outdoor pool, and room as well
Review 120:the bed no aircondition poor supper
Review 121:the area spa
Review 122:The weather!
Review 123:Everything was very luxurious and comfortable
Review 124:WiFi
Review 125:Atmosphere location historic building spa and more...
Review 126:The WiFi signal in the room was weak.
Review 127:the location, the panorama, the wellness facilities, etc.
Review 128:Old furnished room
Review 129:Perfect wellness but it opens only 10 am
Review 130:pool area could be more look after for
Review 131:spa was excelent bar and staf was excelent
Review 132:nothing
Review 133:everything was perfect, finally we have found a hotel with no bad points :)
Review 134:too expensive in comparison with quality, no wi-fi in rooms
Review 135:Wellness and outdoor swimming pool, royal breakfast, location, additional services, romantic bed ;)
Review 136:Heating was too strong in the room
Review 137:Menu at the restaurant is excellent
The Fine Print
