Reviews for Hotel Harmony
Review 1:Unfortunately one of both mattresses (put together in 1 king size) was quite worn, not very firm and not so great for my hb's back :( Also, this is a detail but, one tiny bottle of shower gel for 2 people who take a shower in the morning and at night... won't take you very far ! The parking is teeny tiny so you'd better be a good parker !
Review 2:Excellent location, it is hard to be more centrally located in Ghent than this... We've tried every hotel in Ghent (there are not many) and this one is definitely our favourite. Lovely room on the top floor, very cosy, beautiful bathroom, very helpful staff that happily accepted our request for a late check-out (without extra charge). We didn't try breakfast nor the pool, but we will next time around ! Also amazing view over the rooftops of my beloved hometown !! :)
Review 3:Lovely staff, amazing breakfast, everything I needed in my beautiful room. Perfect location, everything I required nearby. And quiet!! Cab driver said it was the best Hotel in Ghent.Think he was right
Review 4:Nothing! Everything was totally amazing.
Review 5:5 star treatment from a 4 star hotel. The staff couldn't have been more attentive and made our two night stay the most pleasurable it could possibly have been! Can't recommend this hotel enough! We will be back.
Review 6:Slight problem for an older age group - and not meant as a criticism - is a style over substance issue. Access to the shower-over-bath is difficult when the bath is a jacuzzi wtih shelf around, and with no handrails. More lightbulbs than I've ever seen in a room but no decent reading light except the bedside spotlight. Impossible to sneak to the loo in the night without a neon wonderland of spotlights - and a glass door.... If any of these are an issue for you - do ask for an alternative room, but don't dismiss this hotel.
Review 7:Wonderful hotel at the heart of the old city, right by the canal. Just lovely. Helpful and cheerful staff who responded to requests with a smile (changed our room, found a kettle, answered endless questions). Free tapas in the bar makes you feel welcomed and gave a good early evening vibe. We had the best buffet breakfast I've seen in a long time. The rooms were comfortable with a seating area and desk (but see the 'cons' which are meant not as a criticism but as a warning to travellers of a certain age!).
Review 8:There was an awful period when a heavy, thumping, bass like sound invaded the quietness of our room at around 10.00p.m., just as we were preparing for bed. We thought we must be close to a disco or club. Fortunately, it stopped - just as suddenly as it had started - but it made us very uneasy and did affect our stay.
Review 9:We were particularly impressed by the staff all of whom were extremely helpful and accommodating, and the breakfast, the selection, ambience and, again, the service.
Review 10:We liked our first night so much we re-booked a second night! Our second room on the first floor with the view was so fabulous. The morning staff (Aliene, I think) was very helpful and so cheerful even on our departure at 6am when our vacation was over.
Review 11:1 or 2 Mosquitos but otherwise wonderful room & location. Excellent breakfast & great shower.
Review 12:View over the river & city from balcony. Cool shower & spa, Full breakfast.
Review 13:Very friendly staff on arrival and provided maps and guides of the area. Rooms were very nice and comfortable. We had a 4th floor room with a deck overlooking the canal - great view, great location.
Review 14:Booking .com should be clearer on the spa bath option. I thought we would have one , we did not get that option. I booked this room for that reason. In the room they supply very nice coffee making facilities , We both drink tea !!! . I would book this hotel again after confirming the spa bath option.
Review 15:Location was great , room was lovely , staff were very nice , breakfast more than adequate and on site parking.
Review 16:Ist floor room at the rear was very noisy coming from above. Apart from this the hotel was excellent and we would stay here again but in another room.
Review 17:Lovely staff, excellent location
Review 18:Our room had a beautifull view over a canal and historical buildings, it was like looking at a 16-17 century painting. Everything is at just few minutes walking distance
Review 19:Very Steep car park ramp (motorcyclist) Good job it did not rain , I might still be stuck Room wall's are thin , very noisy American Guest ! , Talk as if they cannot be heard & like to slam the doors.
Review 20:Helpfull Staff , good location and clean. Generally a great hotel and a reasonable price.
Review 21:Morning coffee was not the best.
Review 22:The location of the hotel was wonderful. Easy access to public transportation. Getting to hotel from the main train station was fairly easy and a short walk from tram stop. The staff was friendly and helpful with dinner recommendations in walking distance from hotel. Room was clean, very comfortable, and quite spacious which was a huge plus. We stayed in a loft unit and it was more than adequate for our brief visit in Ghent. Breakfast was also a plus, quite satisfying for European breakfast buffet. Will definitely recommend and stay again!
Review 23:No issues at all. Loved the city and felt safe at all times. (maybe if they had a hot link to God the weather could have been a little better !)
Review 24:Location suited us perfectly with easy walk to all key city features. Can't comment on all rooms but ours on the 3rd floor overlooked the canal and made this an extremely enjoyable holiday stopover ... in fact I can't think of anything that could have been improved. Staff were welcoming and friendly at all times. was an excellent decision to stay in Ghent for 2 nights.
Review 25:We loved everything about the hotel: our room was stylish and so comfortable with an incredible bathroom, staff were very friendly and helpful, the bar had a nice atmosphere and excellent range of reasonably priced drinks, room facilities were excellent and location could not be better. Would definitely stay again.
Review 26:The location of the room was at the " backside". Although modern and clean, the room was dark and depressing without a view. The hotel is well located and the impression from the advertising and details about the rooms are that a view is available . They omit to state that some rooms have absolutely no view including the more expensive ones. The hotel should be explicit, that the rooms at the " backside" are without a view and are darker and claustrophobic. They should indicate that the client should ask for a view, as this was their response when I requested a change of room i.e. did I request a view, if not then I was not allocated one. Very poorly done and certainly misleading to the traveller especially when the proprietors market the view in the information about the hotel. It would be better if the proprietors just set an additional premium on the view for rooms . One would not contemplate staying in the rooms at the " back side" of the Hotel Harmony when there are many other excellent hotels in the city of Ghent in similarly good locations
Review 27:Nothing!
Review 28:Great location, room and all the modern features. Great view of a canal. Excellent breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff. You can buy boat and castle tickets for discount. Would definitely recommend!
Review 29:The Air Con is weak, left it on all night, it was a little noisy with knocks and rattles, and in the morning the room was still 24! When i'd set it for 19.
Review 30:Location, Swimming Pool, Staff, Breakfast, Parking (book in advance @ 15 Euro's / Day). Ghent is just amazing.
Review 31:The top floor room with deck overlooking the canal and the city provided for a memorable Ghent stay. Hotel was very clean and comfortable, nice breakfast and Tapas in the evening. Easy arrival from the train station.
Review 32:The staff were friendly, helpful and spoke perfect English. The location was great in the centre of the historical area and right on the canal. The ambience of the hotel was top class.
Review 33:When we arrived our room was unprepared and dusty. We complained, wonderful girl at reception on Sunday afternoon, upgraded us to junior suite which was superb and she was helpful, pleasant and saved the day!
Review 34:The wooden beamed ceiling was nice looking, but everything could be heard from the floor above from early morning until late evening. Need better sound insulation.
Review 35:The room was spacious and nicely appointed.
Review 36:The parking is difficult. If you are used to European parking lots you'll be fine. For us North Americans it's a bit of a challenge. This is typical for a hotel of this type. You're lucky if parking is available so you have to take what you can get.
Review 37:The building is very attractive and it is set in an interesting area of Gent. The room was nicely designed and large for a hotel room in Europe.
Review 38:Our room was amazing and lovely. The staff friendly, but seemed a bit overwhelmed. Breakfast was reasonably priced and well-stocked, with heathy options!
Review 39:Poor lighting in the bedroom. Couldn't read very easily in bed.
Review 40:Very helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Lovely room with balcony and a fab view. Highly recommended. Only negative was the poor lighting in the bedroom.
Review 41:Roadworks in front of the hotel made it difficult to get to by car
Review 42:Room with a view & Tapas in the evening . Staff were very friendly & helpful. Great location
Review 43:Bathroom in the room had a glass door, would be nicer if you would have some more privacy
Review 44:Perfect location and beautiful view from our room, friendly staff and although it was a very small parking area it was very convenient to park right underneath the hotel. Breakfast was super
Review 45:it's the second time we have stayed at hotel harmony, whilst travelling from Prague to the UK. The hotel is excellent value for money, with well appointed, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, central location and an excellent breakfast, the perfect stop over.
Review 46:expensive breakfast breakfast: didn't have a lot of choice breakfast: a lot was finished or slow to arrive
Review 47:wonderful old hotel good rooms lovely people flexible at the front desk
Review 48:Weird and confusing lighting. bedside lights wouldn't even switch off so we had to remove the bulbs!
Review 49:Style and design of hotel. Parking availability
Review 50:- Limited on-site parking (though public parking not far away)
Review 51:- Location: walking distance for old center of Gent - Friendliness of staff - Nice combination of modern décor in a old building - Well maintained
Review 52:Security issue with cleaning staff.
Review 53:A room with balcony overlooking the river and city. Bathroom facilities and size of room. Location, location, location.
Review 54:Apsolutely everything. Great hotel, great staff, great location. Rooms are beautifull, very good equiped (free wi fi, coffie machine, jacuzzi or terase), very comfortable bed, open swiming pool. You will love everything.
Review 55:Electricity activated with room entry card so if you vacated the room for breakfast you were unable to charge up your phone etc. Breakfast was uninspiring. Swivel doors at entrance were very fast & then steps up to reception, all difficult to necogiate with a heavy suitcase
Review 56:Room was clean & quiet. Front desk helpful with restaurant recommendations.
Review 57:Wi-fi wasn't very strong.
Review 58:Great location, huge room with view of canal, very comfortable bed, good breakfast. Complementary tapas during the cocktail hour.
Review 59:Breakfast choice felt limited - it wasn't but the sign offering you other options is very small and hidden away in a corner! Would be better to have it on each table.
Review 60:Stayed in Room 301 - lovely balcony but rooms on floor below would have a better view of canal.
Review 61:Breakfast was a little disappointing.
Review 62:This hotel is in a superb position on the canal side in the historic centre. The bedroom was very spacious and beautifully designed with a good bathroom and efficient air conditioning also an underground car park which was essential in this part of town.
Review 63:Great little hotel in the heart of Ghent. Super friendly and helpful staff who always had time for us and a smile on their face. Great breakfast included. Highly recommend.
Review 64:Bath in room 55 was an 'alpine' experience. Easy to slip getting in and out and window blind difficult to reach!
Review 65:Interesting building. Great breakfast. Pleasant and helpful staff. All told an excellent venue. Will certainly recommend it to friends.
Review 66:There was an awful smell coming from the sink and bath plug holes every time either was used, spoilt the whole room really. Just needed a good clean
Review 67:Location and staff
Review 68:Ideal location for city centre sightseeing. Castle round the corner. Finest old beer bar with 170 beers, good restaurants and canal cruises all nearby. Hotel room spacious and comfortable.
Review 69:Usualy they cleaned up the room in the morning but they did not come back to check and clean up rooms. When you left the room late, it was not cleaned up that day.
Review 70:location, friendly front office staff and very helpful. we got exactly the room what we asked for which is room facing the river. This room has awesome view over the city from our balcony. The hotel itself is right in the old town city centre, easy walking to everywhere. We suggest to book a room facing the river if someone want to stay here.
Review 71:The matresses were too soft, the bath was very impractical. We had requested twin beds and found a double on arrival, which was difficult to fix because there was only one member of staff in the hotel at that time to deal with everything. The only lift broke down, leaving my elderly mother to climb up three flights of stairs. Not really what you would expect from a four-star hotel.
Review 72:Most of the staff members were very friendly and helpful. The location was good for the historic centre and restaurants.
Review 73:The bed was a bit too soft Bad shampoo Coffee in the room isn't so tasty Ambient light of the bed couldn't be switched on separately
Review 74:Very good location Big room Spacious spa bath Nice ceiling Friendly staff Nice view Music in the hallway Big television Cozy pool area Very quiet room
Review 75:Elevator is very slow.
Review 76:Superb location, friendly staff, warm welcome, open air SWIMMINGPOOL, original breakfast, great room, parking space under the hotel, correct price.
Review 77:We stayed one night in this hotel and we loved it! Special thanks to a very attentive, helpful and friendly personal! A bottle of champagne to my birthday was a beautiful surprise! The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, great bathtub, very good breakfast - all was perfect! We felt almost like at home. We would gladly recommend this hotel to everybody who is visiting Gent.
Review 78:Despite having booked a double room, we had two single beds pushed together, not clipped to secure them. There was a list in the room of rates for the mini bar but when we looked, the fridge had been removed. Reception were unaware that the fridge had been removed!
Review 79:The location was excellent, as were the staff. The hotel is modern and comfortable.
Review 80:Couldn't use swimming pool because it rained :-( Not the Hotel's fault :-)
Review 81:Clean, friendly and very helpful. Location on Canal was great for access to all areas of town.
Review 82:Very comfortable room, clean and well equipped. Excellent location, Car parking under the hotel is very convenient and the staff very pleasant. Would not hesitate to recommend to friends and family.
