Reviews for Secret Garden Beach Resort
Review 1:The only minus - which you should know when you plan to stay longer - is the water at the beach. Since many ships arrive on this side it is quite dirty. Nothing to blame the hotel for, though.
Review 2:We liked Secret Garden a lot. The place is not too noisy even though right next to a busy street, the bungalows were huge, spacious and very clean, nice restaurant at the beach and great massage! Staff: the most friendly staff during our trip and absolutely competent - perfect English, always there to serve, just great! Cleanliness: couldn't be better Comfort: great - huge and comfy bed, aircon and fan, scooters for rent Location: very close to Big Buddha and the airport
Review 3:Rooms need better sound proofing. Can hear street noise & everything outside from grass roof ceilings. Also noise & music from surrounding private residence & resorts. Outside furniture could be updated, appears old and worn. The extremely hot weather doesn't help the furniture. Food portions small, especially breakfast. You can walk across the street though & get a bigger breakfast for cheaper!!!
Review 4:Reception very nice and eager to check on you each day. Was always around to answer questions & help if needed.
Review 5:Public toilet could use some tuning up. Small pool.
Review 6:We were running 45 min late (due to missing luggage); the taxi offered by the hotel was still waiting for us. Extremely nice front desk person Nudi. She got out of her way to help, was on the phone all day to get info on when to expect it. Nice cocktails at the resto bar. Cute little beach. Great room for money, pretty basic but clean. Excellent bed.
Review 7:Wonderful place on a quiet beach, away from the crowds. Easy to get to Big Buddha and Bophut. Very helpful staff and good food. The Sunday night band and bbq buffet were excellent.
Review 8:It's not a nice beach for a swim because the Pier is around and there are loads of boats but don't worry there is a nice pool for a cool-down.
Review 9:the rooms are very comfortable and nice. It's always a fresh lemongrass smell around. You've got a huge double-bed, tv, safe, fridge, water-boiler incl tea/coffee,warm shower, shampoo,well-running WIFI etc. the staff is friendly and helpful with everything you needed. On sundays they've got teriffic live-music which was great to enjoy with some drinks at the bar. Big Budda Pier is 1 min walk away- well located of you want to take a Ferry to Koh Phangan (200baht/40 min). Fisherman's Village is close, as well. I recommend not to walk there- the traffic is too busy--just rent a Scooter-easy. Samui Airport is just 5-10 min Drive by taxi.
Review 10:Be careful you get the right change.
Review 11:Beautiful rooms, Lovely hotel restaurant and right on the beach. Delicious food. Very near the pier for transfer to and from Koh phangan and close to airport 200B
Review 12:Breakfast not included and water pressure not great, shower pump broke but I was moved to another room so no problem.
Review 13:Everything, the thatched roofs were especially amazing and staff super helpful.
Review 14:nothing
Review 15:we stayed at the newly decorated bangalow 3. Very clean, Staff polite and helpfull. Bangalow very close to the sea as is restaurant and bad. Food also very good.
Review 16:Food is not a 5 star: you will eat better and cheaper in Lamai beach. If you want to improve, check this!
Review 17:We spent around 15 days in the bungalow in front of the beach. My wife was pregnant at 5th month and all the staff was very great with us. The receptionist (Nudee) take care of my wife all the time including checking the restaurant menu in case some dishes were not good during pregnancy. Thai people is usually very smiling, but here the staff was great, everyone!! Smiling, sincere and very helpful! This IMHO is the plus to recommend this resort. The bungalow were very nice. It looks a old-style but perfect with air condition and fan. One gecko entered in the room but he just staid in the top of the wall and we loved it.
Review 18:Nothing!
Review 19:We found the location excellent as it was close to some more lively locations but it allowed us to relax in a quiet place. The only (very) slight negative is that it is near the flight path but by day 2 we were not noticing the planes. We stayed in the beach front hut and it was excellent. The staff couldn't do enough to help us and it was an fantastic place to chill out to end our holiday. I would happily recommend people stay here.
Review 20:Probably the only bad thing was I got attacked by little mozi's a lot. My partner seemed to not get bitten though. Maybe a mozi net over the bed for added protection.
Review 21:The staff where do very happy to help with anything and everything. Special mention to Day and Rudee who made out stay so enjoyable...
Review 22:Wonderful hotel and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Only a small place, with 14 bungalows, so it has a more personal feel. All of the bungalows have been renovated since I booked, so I was very pleasantly surprised when I arrived.
Review 23:Just wish I could pick it up and move it to chase get beach
Review 24:Staff great and is a beautiful resort once you get past the entrance. Pool perfect and right on the beach. Fans above the bed and a/c perfect for the heat.
Review 25:Great location in a quiet part of Koh Samui. Beachside luxury perfect for chilling and only a short taxi ride to busier areas of the island Stayed in the new beach front bungalow
Review 26:Only stayed one night, needed somewhere ode to the airport for an early flight. The resort bar etc was overpriced, and it's not in a very nice part of Samui but it's comfortable, clean and convenient.
Review 27:The location was perfect, with exceptional views over the bay. The staff were so very friendly and helpful and everything more than lived up to, and indeed, exceeded all expectations.
Review 28:Some dog mess but without gates I have no solution to this.
Review 29:Superb staff, attentive without being intrusive.Tong & Pat especially. The manager sent money via the gardener to the jetty for our trip to the marine park & brought a vacuum cleaner from home on his day off to aid our packing.
Review 30:Not much to say here.
Review 31:The beach resort is on a quieter part of Koh Samui with a beautiful clean beach. The resort itself is pretty and clean; and came at a very good price, but what really makes it special is the staff: What a lovely team who run the restaurant and hotel. They really make a special effort to make guests feel welcome and immediately tend to their every needs. They even remember your name and what you like to drink. This friendly vibe reflects upon the guests, so that every one seemed very happy and open for a chat. There is a daily happy hour where people come together for a chat before going after their individual plans for the night. The food tasty and fairly priced for the fact that it's a hotel, but you can also cheaper delicious thai food just 5 min walk away. I definitely recommend the resort. Enjoy!
Review 32:This does not claim to be a 5 star accommodation but the beach and the staff more than make up for this.
Review 33:From our bungalow, the beach was about 15m, the bar/restaurant, which overlooks the beach and sea, not much further. The sea is wonderful to swim in, and the staff will keep you supplied with refreshments as you lay on the sun beds.
Review 34:My room was right by road and was noisey. Not near anything so you have to take cab everywhere and it's expensive. Restaurant is good but very expensive. Beach near hotel is still so it's very dirty.
Review 35:Nice, big, clean room. Great shower. Lots of spots to sit and relax. Great value.
Review 36:I am well aware of this beeing a budget accomodation and was not expecting anything luxury. We stayed 3 people in one of the rooms on the first night which was ok for a budget hotel : all basic needs satisfied includu Ing hot water. On the second night however we were staying in 2 bungalows and when we came back our bags were moved into separate rooms as agreed. The problem is my room smelled terribly something between dogs and cats urine and by the time I came back all my clothes and the bag was beyond rescue. For the next 3 days I had to walk around like this until I reached a place where I had facilities to wash everything including my back pack. Unfortinatelly for this reason I cant rate this any higher. Few days of my holiday was ruined :(
Review 37:Good location
Review 38:If you are here you will want to spend the money on a songthaew (cheap so learn the non-farang rates) during the day or a taxi. Or better yet consider renting a motorcycle -- only downside is you can't go out for drinks. Location is great and quiet but some distance to other areas.
Review 39:Staff is great and bungalows are top notch. Beach is so-so but the view out to the water is amazing.
Review 40:The beach was not very user friendly, high and the ocean was dirty when we were there. It is better other times of the year we were told.
Review 41:The owners and staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant had good food and reasonable prices. Would recommend this as a place to stay.
Review 42:Food took too long to be served. Would be nice to have a pool also.
Review 43:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Free wifi, air conditioned, right by the sea. Good good. Good massages.
Review 44:Outdoor bathroom was disgusting, no running water. When it finally came back on, the water coming out of the sink and shower was brown, and they acted like that was no problem at all! A
Review 45:Location, Right on big Buddha beach & also very close to Bangrak pier as well as airport and in opposite direction fishermans village. Staff are very friendly
Review 46:I should've stayed longer
Review 47:Amazing bungalows, great restaurant, great wifi, right on the beach, quiet location with restaurants and store nearby, 5 min from the airport.
Review 48:Im not really sure why this gets such a high rating. The restaurant food is only average, and the facilities really need a upgrade. But, the owners and staff are lovely.....
Review 49:Slightly overpriced. 1400 baht for a basic room near the road was too much, especially in low season. European style restaurant was overpriced too. Good quality food, albeit a little heavy on the oil for my taste! But other restaurants along the strip were equally good for less money
Review 50:Great location. Bangrak beach is well placed with stuff going on nearby. But it's not overcrowded and mad, like Chaweng. Staff were superb. Happy, smiley and attentive. Nice little beach area with loungers, etc.
Review 51:Two things that could be improved is the music is very dated and the same for all times of the day. Ask for softer pillows as my wife didn't sleep because it was large and hard.
Review 52:Lovely friendly staff, great location and excellent food. The rooms are very clean and the local environment is relaxed and chilled out.
Review 53:Super stinky bathroom Noises from building site Noizy water and eletric station beside our room and also flashing lights when someone else was using their bathroom Located way to far (22K) from pier Ants in my bed
Review 54:Price Helpfull receptionist
Review 55:Nothing
Review 56:We liked the staff (always smiling), the food, the Sunday bbq, and the location (right on the beach and very close to convenience stores, travelers agencies, car rental, etc).
Review 57:The beach here isnt the best. Water not as clear as Lamai but close to the airport.
Review 58:Lovely bungalows, adjoining the restaurant/bar area. The bar and restaurant were the highlight of our stay. Great food and juices, probably the best we had on Samui. We only stayed one night as wanted to be near the airport. Very good service also and friendly staff.
Review 59:Never got room we booked. Looked like a toilet block. No view due to a seven foot fence. Dog muck all over the complex still there four days later.after two days got money back and moved to samui pier which was fantastic
Review 60:The day I left
Review 61:Just a minor thing. If you ask for omelette for breakfast, it is like scrambled eggs. The fried eggs could have been better cooked as still undercooked on top.
Review 62:The very fact our bungalow was only 35m from our doorstep. Variety on the restaurant menu. Food hygiene very good (I was worried as my first time in Thailand) Massages in a open air raised area RIGHT on the beach.
Review 63:water from shower very slow
Review 64:Great hosts, nice pool, interesting rooms
Review 65:The location was great, staff were great, service was great, it was an all round great experience
Review 66:Room had fabulous virw
Review 67:Lovely resort small and friendly we had the beach bungalow and it was amazing
Review 68:Nothing really
Review 69:I liked the staff very much....Nudi is very sweet I'm particular. Also food good but expensive.
Review 70:the sea is Just Rocks
Review 71:Very friendly staff, right on the beach next to all the very cool bars
Review 72:love the place
Review 73:Room was near the road and very noisy. Hotel location was 15 min drive from the city center taxi drive cost 400 b each side.
Review 74:The room was clean
Review 75:Gorgeous beach huts and beach area. Pool was clean but bit small. Food was nice but a bit overpriced.
Review 76:Friendly, helpful staff. Great food. Quiet location but easy access to a variety of places.
Review 77:overpriced
Review 78:It's on the beach and has a beachhut feel to it in with modern ammendmaties.
Review 79:We had a great week at Secret Garden!
Review 80:NOTHING
Review 81:Always (excellent staff, very good location, good food and cocktail, nice beach, clean!!!)
Review 82:I arrived early in morn after travelling 24hrs and staff kindly let me have room early.
Review 83:We stayed here over Christmas. Lovely spot right on the beach. Clean and staff were wonderful. Few shops around but a short taxi ride to other towns.
Review 84:Building work was noisy during the day
Review 85:The easy going and total relaxation Staff with great sense of humor Food always tasty
Review 86:Noise from the renovation, street, bars.
Review 87:Check out- leaving
Review 88:Great live music Sundays
Review 89:around there is not much to do, just big golden budha but the road is hard to walk
Review 90:great place to relax
Review 91:We couldn't stay longer!
Review 92:Value for money Staff were exceptional. Above and beyond anywhere else we stayed.
Review 93:No shampoo... expensive espresso
Review 94:Bed wasn't very comfortable
Review 95:Lovely place and amazing staff! I loved my stay here
Review 96:good beach, clean, comfortable. big space. I like it. quiet.
Review 97:Dirty sheets
Review 98:Good location. Next to pier to go to haad rin, koh phangan. Near airport and beach cafe.
Review 99:very nice wel kelp hotel is staff and helpful beautiful beach all to passser good holiday Thank daniel and phon michel
Review 100:There was only a single thin sheet on the bed, a few more sheets or a duvet would have been more comfortable.
Review 101:Lovely beach and the restaurant was nice and good value.
Review 102:They didn't change my sheets when I stayed for 4 nights.
Review 103:I liked the amazing location right on the water. Also the restaurant and staff were very attentive. Cleaned room every day and food was delicious and quick.
Review 104:Not the best beach on the island, but still very nice. Need to use a taxi to get around, but that would be true for most places on the Island.
Review 105:The place is quite small, about 9 bungalows, so is not a huge resort. We were there in hot season (April) so although the place was booked-out is was quiet. The location feel very peaceful and all the bungalows are just a few steps from the beach, with plenty of free sun loungers for the guests. There is a nice beach-side bar/restaurant not too badly priced. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Local restaurants close-by- just a couple of minutes walk and a 7eleven grocery store.
Review 106:We were not there long enough!!
Review 107:The welcome late at night was wonderful. The staff were so lovely and helpful. The position next to the sea amazing We would return and will recomend it to others.
Review 108:Really there was nothing to dislike about the whole Secret Garden experience.
Review 109:We rented the beach Bungalow and it was absolutely the best deal on the whole island. The view is simply unforgettable.
Review 110:Everything is just wonderful! The room is large and comfortable, the sea and the beach is great, the food is very tasty and inexpensive, the Sunday session and live music! Excellent staff and the overall favorite dog. We lived there as at home. Will definitely be back! Все просто замечательно! Номер большой и уютный, море и пляж отличные, еда очень вкусная и недорогая, воскресные сессии и живая музыка!!! Отличный персонал и общая любимица -собака. Мы жили там как у себя дома. Обязательно вернемся!
Review 111:It was nice to be in a quieter location, but it meant that there weren't as many other restaurants or shops etc around (although there are convenience stores and some bras/restaurants).
Review 112:The beachside restaurant was lovely, as were the staff. The breakfast for two was delicious.
Review 113:Try to book one of the beach bungalows if you can - my friend and I stayed in a deluxe twin room (nearest reception) and it was very noisy at night! Could hear traffic, music from nearby bars and the people next door (walls are very thin!). Prices for food/drink were also very high for Thailand, we felt...
Review 114:The staff (and resident dog La La) were all very friendly! The location is amazing (right on the beach) and belies the price. The Sunday sesh is great, great music and relaxed atmosphere :-)
Review 115:*pillows wer so hard we had neckaches but beds wer fine compared to sum we had in Asia! *no pool, but u have beach at ur doorstep! *not much to do round area compared to chaweng but nicer area!
Review 116:*Location on bangrak beach was perfect! Lovely beach and was quiet! *standard rooms wer decent size and huge bathroom! *wifi was fast! *resturant was gorgeous,we ate der most nights+breakfast&cocktail menu lovely! *rite at big Buddha pier,so walked 2our ferry! Wud definitely stay here again wenevr im back in samui as we drove round and our place was unreal especially for price!
Review 117:Poor showers, Some noise from roads and bar, Tourist prices for food and drinks, No signs warning about rocks in sea, Uncomfortable bed,
Review 118:Close to beach, Cleaned daily, Close to Spa and shops, Staff assisted with hire car, 30m to buddha pier, Live music on Sunday evening,
Review 119:Room 2 refrigerator turns off when you are not in the room. Room 4 airconditioner struggles and is noisy but at least the refrigerator workswhen you are not in the room. Annoying but not a deal breaker.
Review 120:Lots and lots, second visit for me. Location on a beach that is yourown is great, staff really up to the job and kind as well, value, cleanliness, Bathroom, casual and very Thai feeling, foods good andwell priced, good breakfasts, nice hut accommodation, sea view, Iwill be back.
Review 121:Probably a tad unfair but if there was one tiny fault it was that our Air Conditioning wasn't quite as effective as some hotels we stayed in, which in that sort of heat can prove frustrating. Some hotels allow you to leave your Air Con on whilst out so you can go back to a cold room, you can't hear which is understandable of course but just made our room a tad muggier in the heat of the day.
Review 122:This place defied our expectations for the best! WHen you pay such a good price you expect to unpick certain flaws but I can honestly say my partner and I were blown away by the kindness of the staff, the surrounding views and the bungalows which were a delight to stay in. We stayed here for 5 nights and were gutted to leave! Absolute top marks to Jan and everyone who made our stay a very memorable one.
Review 123:The location may not be the best for many people. It is a cab ride to Chaweng beach and the cab drivers are a hassle.
Review 124:The resort staff were super friendly. They worked long hours and were constantly busy doing something. They were slow for dinner and drink service, but I think it's more that the resort is geared towards being laid back. The location was awesome if you are looking for a quiet beach spot. They had loungers on the beach, a massage on the beach, and a beach bar. Bungalows were basic, but cute and great for us. I'd definitely recommend paying the money and getting a beachside bungalow. Definitely stick around for Happy Hour and 2 for 1drinks!
Review 125:Nothing for sensitive sleepers as loud music from across the street every night, but noy a problem at all for us.
Review 126:Very nice location, nice beach with comfortable sun beds. restaurant a bit more expensive for Thailand, but excellent quality.
Review 127:The beds are quite old, so the springs of the matrass do you feel inyour bones. And if you have a bungalow near the busy road you need someearplugs for the noise of the traffic and the bar across the road. Butthe positive things (quite a lot) are much more important!
Review 128:It was fanrastic to wake up in the morning and be directly at the beach. The beach is beautiful by the way and nog as touristic as we thought itwould be. The staff is really friendly and the owners (2 Duch guys) arereally enthusiastic and interested in their guests. At the beach thereis also the opportunity to dine, wine, etc. With really good food, wineand relaxed atmosphere.
