Reviews for Hotel Puur

Review 1:Rooms were a bit cold, but after switching on radiator it was fine. Hotel is not suitable for 4 stars demanding quests (too many small shortages that can irritate). Friendly and easy going staff compensated all small shortages for us.

Review 2:The owner Kelly is very friendly, easy going and helpful. She made us feel very comfortable and welcome. Prices are very friendly, very good location (many pubs and restaurants at 5 min walking distance). Nice hotel bar, good kitchen.

Review 3:Friendly staff and very cousy "home like"atmosphere. We did not expect this really, kind of surprise:) Clear result achieved by nice owner active in daily business. Keep on the good work!

Review 4:Room was cold, heater didn't work. Also a hairdryer was missing, although there was a note that you could ask for one.

Review 5:Great location, very friendly staff.

Review 6:Nothing was any bother for the friendly staff. Secure parking for the scooter was provided as requested and from the initial welcome to when we left the staff were excellent.

Review 7:we have stayed here before , always made welcome, our motorcycles are secure and looked after ! , a great set of people - really helpfull, great service !!!!!!! Ideal location for bikers on the way to the ferry - rotterdam only 1 hour away.

Review 8:Wifi is available but you have to reconfirm agreement to the terms and conditions each day and each time you leave the wifi. Slightly annoying but not a major problem.

Review 9:Great hotel location with private secure parking. Lovely attentive staff. Kept the rooms very clean. The rooms are small with a closet shower and an ensuite toilet/wash basin. The main sleeping area is bright and fresh.

Review 10:no wifi, shower defect: too hot. Cold hallways, mattress too old: not comfortable. Poor sound isolation. Believe that it used to be a great modern boutique style hotel with a passionate owner, but now it has run down and reminds me of budget hotel as part of a chain.

Review 11:great location, great building. Timeless and modern decoration. Good breakfast buffet

Review 12:staff very friendly and helpful, when asked nicely there actually was a parking lot behind the hotel ;-) Perfect location you walk out of the hotel and are basically in the middle of the shopping mall.

Review 13:You have to contanstly relog to access the wifi. I wanted to eat eggs for breakfast and had to wait about 30 minutes for fresh eggs. The reception is always locked. My bf and I always had to wait for someone to come and attend us.

Review 14:Breakfast was included, the location in right in the city center. Free WIFI.

Review 15:The walls are very thin and thus we heard the other guests talking and taking a shower all night long.

Review 16:Great location, lovely rooms, very friendly and helpful staff!

Review 17:Nothing for kids.

Review 18:Beautiful location in a town center surrounded by old buildings. Bar downstairs - perfect place to spend evenings with a glass of wine or bear.

Review 19:Breakfast is a bit disillusioning to start a day. Only self-service and not a big variety. Boiled eggs cold.

Review 20:Easy access to the hotel. Parking behind hotel was possible. Arrived at midnight and staff was welcoming. Located in a nice part of Venlo.

Review 21:There was no hair dryer. At breakfast most of the hot food had run out and it was only 8.45. Nobody topped anything up, no tables were laid up had to search round for own cutlery etc. no air conditioning and car park had a gate but was unlocked.

Review 22:The location was excellent right in town centre. Room was clean but basic,

Review 23:staff were lovely and helpful, been before many times.

Review 24:Central location in city of venlo. Clean well maintained rooms.Good breakfast-

Review 25:The staff were so helpful.

Review 26:Awful bed

Review 27:Nice people working in the hotel and the restaurant

Review 28:Location, staff and bar were great

Review 29:nothing

Review 30:good staff

Review 31:The room was so hot ,it was almost unbearable. It needs air conditioning .

Review 32:Location was good.very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 33:Staff extremely friendly and helpful.

Review 34:Bed was new but not that comfy

Review 35:Location Friendly staff

Review 36:No tea & coffee facilities in the room

Review 37:Close proximity to shops bars & restaurants as well as the train

Review 38:The location, the breafast.

Review 39:Food

Review 40:Staff very helpful.

Review 41:The location.

Review 42:problem with internet - connection was only at restaurant.

Review 43:Location

Review 44:Tiled floors, the noise travelled.

Review 45:Room.

Review 46:Cafe. Location.

Review 47:not staffed 24/7 and no ample off road parking

Review 48:The location is central with easy walking distance to restaurants and entertainment

Review 49:The radiator was extremely loud. The pictures online make it seem much nicer than in person - it felt more like a hostel than a hotel. Wifi goes in and out frequently.

Review 50:Great location and decent breakfast

Review 51:Simple, no fuss, budget, a bit tired 90's design contemporary hotel with a back packers feel. Great location in the old town. Good hot and cold self serve breakfast.

Review 52:The surrounding noise of the bars untill 4am.

Review 53:The location and setting is very good. The fact that there is a 24 hour reception is the biggest asset. It is just a fine place to stay over.

Review 54:Very nice staff, well designed rooms. Really soft beds, big windows, in a little place there's everything you need for your comfort. The breakfast is not giant but perfectly fits with all requests, with hot meals, different kind of bread, marmelades, etc.

Review 55:Overall: interior of the hotel is outdated / shabby. It reminded meof a youth hostel. The room was ok, except for the bath room which was abit crappy. I expected a bit more for the price.

Review 56:Friendly staff, good location

Review 57:I stayed there in winter and room was not warm enough. It was tooexpensive for the quality of the hotel.

Review 58:Staff availability, position in the center of Venlo, breakfast is notvery good, but the best for the hotels in town.

Review 59:The hotel is in a building which also houses a bar which has an attractive courtyard garden. Despite our requests and advice given to us by the hotel and bar staff there was exceptionally loud noise from the bar and garden lasting until until 03.45 hours which kept us awake. The attitude of the staff was deplorable and having stayed in hotels throughout the world , I am sorry to say that this was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. It is a great pity because it has potential but the staff need re-training and something must be done about the noise.

Review 60:Leaving it

Review 61:The hotel is joined onto a disco and it plays loud music till late am and then you have all the drunks making a lot of noise till 5 am. There are also 2 karaoke bars close by which make a loud noise all night. Didn't get much sleep on the 2 nights we stayed there. The room was small and very dirty. No tea making facilities, no hair dryer or tissues - very basic room and small toilet and shower. 2 coathangers for 2 guests to hang their clothes on in the small wardrobe.

Review 62:It was close to the old town square where it was nice to sit out each evening and have a meal and a drink and there are a lot of shops nearby so there is a lot of choice. It is also walking distance from Venlo station and has a bit more ambience than staying at the other hotels near the station. The breakfast was good and the staff helpful.

Review 63:Noisy from adjacent premises. No onsite parking. Dificult to get to by car,{using my sat-nav}

Review 64:Facilities were good. Manager friendly and helpful. Breakfast plentiful and good.

Review 65:Not the hotels fault but the room had large south facing windows so the room was hot, a fan was provided though.

Review 66:Only there for 2 nights but the location is excellent, the room was clean and functional and the breakfast was very good. Hot food and continental was available. The staff were very helpful, we needed transport to the airport just over the German border and they helped us with taxi sevices.

Review 67:Although central location, very noisy on a Friday night in July! Lack of ventilation - only opening the doors to balcony which let in the night-time noise from outside. Room was beginning to look a little 'tired'.

Review 68:Convenient location for the 'Floriade'.

Review 69:1. Not clean (stains on tiles and doors in bathroom and toilet, hairs in washbasin). Hairs in bed. Bedlinen looked dirty, maybe only worn out. Black marks on the walls, could be cleaned away if anyone cared.2. Extremely noisy during the night, people partying outside until 5 AM (churchbells told time). No soundproofing between rooms. Squeaking doors, what about some oil on the hinges? 3. Overpriced for the quality offered - due to the Floriade? 4. They call themselves "trendy hotel" - don't let them fool you. Cheap IKEA wardrobe, lamps... white paint on old cheap doors do not make it trendy.

Review 70:Nothing, really, but the location could have been nice, if not for thenoise. Close to everything in the town.

Review 71:Sound insulation to next door poor. While the next didn't bother us future guests should be aware than the nearby big church has an extensive carillion. While this is silenced after 9 pm to 8 am, the clock chimes all through the night.

Review 72:Position - easy access from station - 6 mins. walk even with luggage, centre of town. Everything in rooms, ensuite and breakfast room spotless, even if some other public areas a bit hotch- potch - old building modernised. Friendly & obliging receptionist.

Review 73:It was hot weather and we would have loved air conditioning in our room. After spending a day walking around the Floriade we needed to come home to a cool room. Also, considering there was no air conditioning the doona was far too hot for summer. A lighter covering on the bed would have been much better.

Review 74:Great location. Close to rail service and bus to Floriade. Friendly staff and very helpful

Review 75:The frontage of the hotel is deceptive as the hotel - situated at the back of the building - is more like a conversion of an office block. The entrance was not clean neither were the corridors. There were no public areas and I did not consider it warranted 3 stars. Beware of your room situation especially on a Friday night when a local pub plays very loud music. Overall I thought the hotel was disappointing and expensive.

Review 76:Good breakfast

Review 77:Only because of limited availability, I reserved a suite which is really more of just a large room than a suite. Basic but suitable for purpose.

Review 78:Located within walking distance of the train station which is also the location of the bus to Floriade 2012. Any hotel near the train station will suffice if your reason is to visit Floriade 2012.

Review 79:We had requested a room with two single beds ( 2 women) and had been told this was possible but on arrival were told they were fully booked and so we had to have a double bed for our 2 nights. The room was small but adequate. For summer heat the windows could not be opened more than 2-3 inches because of the curtain rail.

Review 80:The location was great, close to everything and staff generally helpful. A good coffee enjoyed outside quite late at night.

Review 81:no overnight staff for service no water boiler special design for bathroom / toilet is seperate

Review 82:place in the centre of the City. Can easily get to there with following the main street. Buffet breakfast is good Wifi is good and strong enough

Review 83:Weak wifi connection. You are not encouraged to ask staff for help b/cthey are not there most of the time. Breakfast area located in basementwhere the drain pipes are visible and you can hear water draining.

Review 84:Convenience to train station in Venlo and Floriade 2012. Close tobars, restaurants and shopping areas. Breakfast is provided which isjust average.

Review 85:We really loved the location, right in the heart of town and only a 10 minute walk from the station though it was a little tricky to find! The restaurant at the hotel was excellent and the breakfast downstairs was good with plenty of choices. Our room, a suite, was spacious, bright and very comfortable though the bed was a little too soft. We enjoyed our stay there. The hotel itself was charming and 'old world' on the outside but modern and totally renovated within.

Review 86:Curtains in room didn't provide sufficient window coverage for blocking out light. Church bells very loud.

Review 87:Breakfast room was good, and selection of food was good also.

Review 88:While the room was clean, it looked dirty. The carpets in the hall weredirty and the place overall looked shabby. Sound proofing of the roomdid not exist. We requested a quiet room and were placed next to theelevator, which made a lot of noise.

Review 89:Bathroom was very compact, using the toilet was a bit of a yoga exercise.

Review 90:Nice little hotel situated in the centre of Venlo close to the railway station. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was quite small but clean and adequate for a short stay, for a long stay there was not much wardrobe or storage space. Found the bed very comfortable.

Review 91:The bed was small. I could not tell how far of a walk it was going to be from the station until we got there. I could not judge the distance from the map online prior to booking.

Review 92:Hotel Purr was an easy walk down a pedestrian street from the train station. Loads of cafes to choose from. We had an excellent breakfast in the kitchen at the restaurant. The room was quiet with a large window facing the steeple and a backyard courtyard. The hotel was very clean. The staff very friendly. We attended the Floriade World Horticultural Expo and selected this hotel based on shuttle bus location to the expo. However, I would return to this area, as it looks like a nice relaxing destination that is close to the natural world yet with conviences of a small town, cafes, shopping and nightlife.

Review 93:Room lighting not great: reading really has to be done in/on bed, butbedside lights too dim, while ceiling downlighters glare in ones eyes.At breakfast only a single plate available, had to be used for bothcooked food and croissants. Orange juice, from machine, seemed low-grade, and scrmabled eggs, excellent first morning, semed possiblyrecycled the next. Overall, experience was in Ibis range, which is ok,but not obvious from website.

Review 94:Location in very centre of Venlo, easy walk from railway station, plentyof shops and restaurants within a few yards, general convenience andambience. Room was smallish, but modern and comfortable. We looked outon a small square with a 400 year old church opposite. Free wifi.Breakfast in a large basement room, with kitchen in the same space.Selection was quite wide for type of hotel, and quality generally good.Croissants excellent, and plenty of tasty fresh fruit.

Review 95:Very convenient for railway station and for Floriade. Room clean andadequate for the price. The breakfast was excellent - far better thannormal for european hotels.

Review 96:We were visiting the area to go to the Floriade exhibition which isoutside of Venlo and were travelling by public transport. We chose the Hotel Puur because of its convenience for the train station at Venlo - 5 minutes walk to the hotel and the fact that there was a shuttle bus from the train station to the Floriade exhibition.
