Reviews for Travelers Hotel
Review 1:It did not feel sanitary. I was very uncomfortable with all of the extension cords used to plug things in. The rooms were well past there use by date.
Review 2:The location was close to where we needed to be
Review 3:Shuttle to clinic in the morning wasn't early enough, I had to walk to 6:15 appt, I choose this hotel because of the shuttle service, as I have stroke damage and the walk was extremely difficult and painful.
Review 4:Close to Mayo clinic. And free parking.
Review 5:Wifi didn't work in room. Breakfast was horrible. Staff not very responsive. Mattresses horribly uncomfortable. Since it will be demolished within the month, routine maintenance has ceased; burned-out light bulbs are replaced by taking bulbs from uninhabited rooms.
Review 6:Location and price. Large room. It is quiet since there are few guests. Quirky staff makes for entertaining experience.
Review 7:Mold growth in bathroom, trash on elevator floor, disdain shown by desk staff, unkempt grounds, violations of the building code by propping open exit way fire doors even after this violation was brought to the desk staff's attention.
Review 8:the location.
Review 9:This place shouldn't be allowed to be open. Paint peeling (walls and ceiling). Temperature in room had to be in high 80's. Had to run air conditioner all night to keep room habitable. Then couldn't sleep because of noise. Blinds on windows bent all to heck.
Review 10:Close to Mayo Clinic.
Review 11:Surrounded by bars and clubs. Very loud music and people using drugs in and around the hotel. Kinda scary.Need security staffing on site.
Review 12:Close to shops, Mayo clinic
Review 13:VERY STARK, NO FABRIC CURTAINS, NO PICTURES ON WALL, 3 SEPERATE ROOMS, WOODWORK CHIPPED ALOT, ONLY ONE CHAIR . THE BREAKFAST NOOK HAD ONLY ONE TABLE. THE ROOM WAS VERY UNINVITING AND UNCOMFORTABLE.
Review 14:CLOSE TO MAYO CLINIC
Review 15:THERE INTERNET DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. NOT ONE BIT. From what I was told, this is a VERY regular occurrence.
Review 16:It is a very good location. Coffee was good. Rooms are clean.
Review 17:lack of plug-ins, but if you come prepared with a power strip, its manageable. The other option is to pay substantially more in a newer hotel.
Review 18:The closeness to the Mayo Clinic (1.5 blocks). The staff was "over the top" fantastic. The building is older, but has a lot of character.
Review 19:I checked in & a couple of hours later I checked out. I went to the Super 8. The Travelers inn was dirty. Needs to be remodeled. There was a painted window in the shower. The bed was slanted. The blinds were dirty & broken. I wished there was a way booking agencies could remove them from there site.
Review 20:I really couldn't find anything I liked.
Review 21:carpet was spotted and appeared to need cleaning, walls banged up and could use a bit of paint. Old building with easy walk to Mayo Clinic
Review 22:easy walk to Mayo clinic
Review 23:the perfect location to attend the mayo medicine conference. IT IS A lovely old hotel with beautiful original woodworkand rooms -spacious. THe staff were kind and friendly
Review 24:the terrible floors and the bathroom was just gross. the toilet with the broken back. the blinds that don't close all the way. The breakfast was not good.
Review 25:Poor Shades, run-down windows, rattling radiators--couldn't sleep; door to room wasn't secure--didn't trust leaving valuables.
Review 26:Proximity to Mayo Clinic. Cleaning matron was reliable.
Review 27:I didn't like staying there at all. Price was to high for the service they provide.
Review 28:Not much the hotel is run down and needs allot of work to make it livable.
Review 29:Room was at a slant. It literally had a downhill slope. The use of duct tape on the door to seal up the gaps at top and bottom was a little unsettling.
Review 30:Reasonably priced for a basic night's rest. Free on-site parking.
Review 31:Room smaller than we thought - bathtub was awful with window looking outside exposed to people to see u take a shower had to cover with towel
Review 32:Only location
Review 33:Stained carpet and ripped and stained furniture . Bed linens with holes. Dirty table and drawers. Hair in my bedding. Bathroom had a toilet that leaked. Doors in hallway padlocked with holes .
Review 34:Check out time.
Review 35:Older hotel - but nice, clean.
Review 36:We were In Rochester, MN, for a short in/out hospital stay, and the location was great. Close enough to walk. Also within walking distance of restaurants.
Review 37:Rooms clean, but window by shower easy for people to look in from outside. Lobby very messy, and ladybugs all over in room. Was told normal for this time of year.
Review 38:Good location for mayo clinic
Review 39:Very decrepit .unsafe..health hazard and there was a drunk man cussing in the room below my room I could here everything he said I asked the front desk clerk to check out and he still charged my visa card and he told me the drunk man lived there for three months and he is not dangerous..I told him every drunk is dangerous
Review 40:Close to mayo clinic
Review 41:The place is a horrible run down old apartment building. There was holesin the wall, blinds were broke, shower only sprinkled water out, theInternet sucks, the lock on the door was a chain. Do not stay here thisplace needs to be shut down!
Review 42:Nothing
Review 43:Upon arrival, we noticed the exterior of the building was in need of repair and maintenance. The hotel is very old, and the hall ways, common areas, and rooms, smelled of urine. The internet was down more than up, and the staff didn't seem to care. One housekeeper told us "if you leave anything on the bed, I won't make the bed". Left a personal pillow, sure enough, she didn't touch the bed. Pictures do not accurately depict the hotel or the room. We left half way through our stay and checked into another hotel in the area...$10 more per night thank the TI. Would not recommend this to anyone...especially ill people who are in Rochester for health care!
Review 44:Proximity to Mayo Clinic
Review 45:This place was a dump. Stains on the curtains from water seeping in.Garbage on the balcony. Wasps in the room and I am allergic. Charged75.00 for the night. Should be $45.00 considering the poor quality. Hadto wait till 5:30 pm to check in because they had housekeeping problems. When I asked for a price adjustment nobody could do it. I asked 3different people. Spend a little more and don't stay here. I wasplanning on staying 5 days, but checked out the next morning. Hotelstaff was indifferent.
Review 46:The WiFi didn't work, the breakfast was only coffee and donuts, when we checked out we paid full price they said they didn't honor booking.coms prices.
Review 47:It was close to the Mayo clinic.
Review 48:Very run down. First room I recvd hadn't even been cleaned and was unacceptable. Breakfast was not really a breakfast. Was very disappointed, but felt that the hotel was clean...just very VERY run down. Needs a facelift and new carpet. Staff was very very kind
Review 49:I loved that it was so close to the Mayo clinic
Review 50:No wash clothes one day . Night clerk didn't have access to housekeeping to get any. Poor breakfast selection. Very old decrepit building. Wood floors creaked. Building was an early 1900's building that had not been maintained. Even lobby was run down .
Review 51:Fairly clean room.
Review 52:This place was pretty bad. Stains on the floor, the toilet was leaking. The juice at breakfast tasted like syrup and they were out of everything.
Review 53:Nothing to like.
Review 54:The halls were dark, dingy , spooky with stairs to get to room. Continental breakfast poorly organized and supplied.not much choice.
Review 55:We had a king room which was nice. Getting to it with all the luggage was a challenge since required going up stairs. Elevator only took us to 2nd floor, then there were stairs. The halls to get to room were dark and spooky.
Review 56:There was a man without a shirt on passed out on one of the stairways. With his money struwn all over the floor. Only 2 of the 6 lamps worked. Front desk didn't even lookup and say hello when we came, had to wait until he was finished doing whatever he was doing. Less than helpful with letting us know where to park. Big holes in the walls,
Review 57:Filthy. The entire hotel was filthy. I mean really filthy. I have seen dog kennels far cleaner. Also handles broke off the dresser. When I mentioned these things, no response from clerk.
Review 58:close to hospital where I needed to visit many times.
Review 59:Check in was slow and arduous. Room was old and disgustingly dirty. Mildew and mold so bad in room that my husband and myself were both ill from it.
Review 60:Close to Mayo clinic
Review 61:Unfortunately, the toilet was nearly non-functional. One would think housekeeping would have noticed that. We were there only one night and checked out very early, so don't know if/when it was fixed. And in-room coffee would be a plus.
Review 62:Great location if you're going to Mayo. Genial staff allowed us to check in early and leave the car in their lot after checking out, until medical appointments were done. Charming, spacious, quiet room. Didn't have time for breakfast so cannot comment on that. Would stay again.
Review 63:The hotel is old and needs a good cleaning and updating! Our bathroom had black mold on wall and floor by shower. Carpet was old and had several stains. No hairdryer,as upon request. The elevator reeked of urine and was dirty.Passed on having free breakfast.
Review 64:Free parking, saved 12.00 a day. Close to clinics. Shuttle service available.
Review 65:Windows were really dirty, held open by a phone book and a board. Drain in shower didn't drain, funky stuff floated up so I didn't use the shower. Mildew on window sill. In general, kind of old and somewhat grungy, but, for the price, compared to the other hotels near Mayo, it is still the best deal. And the manager was friendly and kind.
Review 66:Front desk guy was genuine and nice and helpful. It was located right near Mayo Clinic for me - very handy. Free parking. It was quiet and air conditioning was comfortable. It was the cheapest price I could find. It had a big front porch for sitting. Toilet and sink clean. Had a working fridge and microwave. Bed was comfortable. Did not smell like smoke.
Review 67:WI had upgraded to a larger room. When we went to the room it was filthy, I mean it was really large but dirty. It was also located in the old part of the hotel.
Review 68:Went to the desk attendant ad told him about the room. He gave us a different room without any hesitation. This room was in the newer part of the building and really nice for the price
Review 69:The toilet didn't flush properly. We had mixed feelings about how the staff dealt with that.
Review 70:The room we stayed in was comfortable; had a table and chairs, kitchenette and television.
Review 71:The bathroom never had washcloths in it, we had to ask every night for some. The door to the room had about a 3' height to it and a lot of light came through it as well. The vacuuming was never done on a daily basis for our stay.
Review 72:That they have a sister hotel and it was closer to St. Mary's hospital where we could park for feree while my husband was in the hospital as it was $12 the first day we stayed with him at the hospital not knowing about the free parking, wish they'd told us sooner.
Review 73:Its old and less expensive so it seems to attract some, ahhhhh let's say questionable people but it still was safe and they were just looking for low rent like me. 3 blocks away my sons college basketball team stayed fancy and expensive it still right downtown. Room is old. No breakfast.
Review 74:It was old but still clean. Roomy with little kitchen. I liked the atmosphere of the downtown night life even though I don't drink but I walked the river and was nice and safe. Price was great. The two shifts of guys working were nice to talk to. The black gentleman was into sports so we talked and the Hispanic guy was nice and helpful and funny. I was pleased!
Review 75:The staff was excellent. "Jim" I think was his name, put us in a beautiful room on the 3rd floor. He was more than accommodating. Thank you!
Review 76:There was a smell of cigarette smoke from some rooms.
Review 77:The location right beside the Mayo Clinic is exceptional if needing to be at Mayo. We had a large, clean room with comfortable king bed.
Review 78:The continental breakfast sucks. Pure sugar and empty carbs. There is no fruit, or protein of any kind. If you want to get diabetes, eat their syrup waffles and donuts, and wash it down with the sugary grape juice.
Review 79:The location is good, as is the price. Although old, the hotel is in decent shape.
Review 80:No cover for the window when taking a shower. Ac unit not in room with bed. Looks like a very old building that was converted to a hotel.also was charged twice, worst hotel I ever stayed at
Review 81:Freindly staff
Review 82:The receptionist who checked us in didn't speak good English and definitely could have been more helpful. The layout of the hotel was quite peculiar, and a bit hard to navigate. The breakfast room is tiny with seating for just two people.
Review 83:The room was large and comfortable, would definitely consider it even for longer stay. Kitchenette would be sufficient for self-catering, and the hostel is quite close both to supermarkets and to downtown which has superb dinning opportunities.
Review 84:Building is old and run down. Paint chipping off of the walls and tub. Kind of like the old house I rented in college.
Review 85:This place is as close to the clinic as the clinics parking garage and it has free parking. The staff is very friendly and willing to accommodate requests for early or late checkouts if they can. Half the price of other hotels, a third or less as compared toost hotels this close to Mayo.
Review 86:The paint was peeling off the walls in room, carpeting was all stained up,no shampoo and could see through shower window We needed to use a towel to cover window it was awful!
Review 87:Nothing.
Review 88:This hotel is an add on to an add on to an add on. The luggage cart doesn't go to your room because of the stairs in between the elevator and down the hall to your room. The furniture is from the 80's and nothing has been updated. The rating you said I gave is not even close, I wouldn't stay here except we could walk to the hospital.
Review 89:This hotel is priced around $80.00 and is 2 blocks from the hospital. The other hotels are $225.00 and a block or so from the hospital. That is the only reason we stayed there.
Review 90:there was mold in the bathroom, my daughter is very allegric. the wrong room was givin and had to pay extra when I ordered room with 2 be. the maid service didn't clean up for me. I had to ask staff for vacume ect.. to` clean.`
Review 91:The refrigerator had moldy pizza in it. The ice bucket was full of water. The bed felt like you feet were higher than you head. The ceiling in the bathroom had a leak.
Review 92:Not being able to control heat.
Review 93:Old blding. I like refrig. Microwave. Took food so wouldn't have to eat out. Free parking and shuttle to hospital. Thank goodness took own coffee pot, creamer, sweetner. I'm an early riser. Didn't fix coffee in lobby till 0600. Basic condiments. We were gone to hospital by 0600. This is a place to sleep. It's not a vacation spot or has any frills but price was right. Reserving room was wonderful! Had to change 4x because wasn't for sure on surgery date AND when she did so well in recovery, left early, paid for only days stayed. When we found out just let them know anytime! Even if it was that morning. No 24 hr notice!! Friend slept in bed. She said it was comfortable. I took my own cot.
Review 94:The bathroom floor had crumbs on it and hair was in the tub. floor had not been vacuumed bed was dirty and hard as no other microwave had food all over it. walls were cracked.mirrors were not cleaned, and also we had to wait 25 min to get checked in because the desk person was someone in the hotel. NOT HAPPY AT ALL
Review 95:We show up to check in and they had our room cancelled and when we asked why they didn't notify us they had no answer. They said our room was cancelled because to stay there we need to live farther then 50 miles away and we lived 48 miles away. Actually we live 51.5 miles away but if they had been correct on the distance, they still rudely turned us away because of 2 miles. So lucky for us we managed to get into the hotel we usually stay at! They were originally booked but ended up with an opening :) This Travelers place is ridiculous!
Review 96:Continental breakfast was basically just tea and juice by the time I got to it.
Review 97:Convienient downtown location, decent bed and cable. Really cost effective for the part of town.
Review 98:Quite a grungy place. peeling paint on windows and radiator. Stains on carpet and furniture. Smoke alarm battery was going, so it chirped all night.
Review 99:It is walking distance from Mayo clinic. It was cheap.
Review 100:We couldn't get wifi in this room, but usually when we stay here we can get Wi-Fi.
Review 101:We like how close it is to Mayo Clinic. We like that we can leave our vehicle in the parking lot while we go to our appointment.
Review 102:There were no shampoo samples, only soap so make sure you bring your own. The bed we stayed in on our first stay was obviously not clean. However no bed bugs. The stay was a lot like living in a creeky old apartment building. You can hear walking on the floor above you. The wifi was good but did require a password.
Review 103:It was only a 2-3 block walk to Mayo if we didn't want to wait for the shuttle. That was very convenient. Having a fridge and microwave in the room was also a plus given the good room rate.
Review 104:Weren't able to turn the heat down- it was so hot in the room I had to turn the air conditioner on in January in MN. Carpet was filthy. TV quit working the last night we stayed and front desk person was of no help what so ever. The lighting was so bad, we couldn't read a book. One bedside lamp could not be plugged in - it was for decoration only. There was not one comfortable chair to sit on.
Review 105:The location is near Mayo. Continental breakfast selection was good. Grape juice was very good. Had a wheel chair for guest's limited use.
Review 106:This place is quite a step back in time. It was once an apartment building that was converted to a hotel. That might give it a bit of charm except that it is not updated old-time, just old-time. It needs a lot of work even with basics such as a good caulk job around the tub and windows that help seal out noise. At breakfast, most folks had to stand while they ate (2 chairs and 1 small table).
Review 107:It was comfortable and adequate for an overnight stay and for what we paid. We appreciated the free parking including into the next day while we were at Mayo Clinic. The breakfast was very basic but adequate. The Inn is very convenient to the Mayo complex.
Review 108:they gotta do something about their little kitchenette the running water wouldnt even get cold. it was constant lukewarm. gross
Review 109:everything except the water
Review 110:Limited shuttle times, few places. Temp in room controlled by opening the window at -4 degrees. Breakfast a joke. Had oatmeal packets but no bowls to cook it, and had to microwave it in your room. Hot water in shower nearly nonexistent. No bedside light. No clock. No shampoo. Room cleaned one time in 5 days. No restaurants in close walking distance for health compromised guests with no car.
Review 111:Staff was accommodating, suite had lots of room, bed was comfortable, very close to Mayo if you wanted to walk.
Review 112:thought it charming, liked it all
Review 113:balcony to outdoors, Unbelievably kind staff, elevator, floors that creek when you walk on them reminds me of the home I grew up in and is personable.
Review 114:The bathroom was very tiny and no counter space to put things (not even the back of the toilet). Place could use new carpeting. There was no channel guide for tv. The free breakfast was very sparce.
Review 115:The building is older and therefore has a lot of character. The kitchen area was big, lots of counter space. Walking distance from mayo (3 blocks). We almost felt like we were home and not in a hotel room. If you like older homes this is for you.
Review 116:Its no frills or exercise equipment but I didn't need any. Last trip to Mayo I stayed at a different hotel with a shuttle bus to Mayo and a pool. The pool wasn't that great and waiting for the shuttle was inconvenient. This time I stayed at Travelers so I could walk to Mayo. Since there's no pool or exercise room at Travelers I drove to a nearby mall to "mall walk for exercise" the night before my surgery.
Review 117:Easy walking distance to Mayo! I had to be at Mayo for Surgery at 5:45am. Being this close meant more sleep time the night before surgery. Also, the staff was flexible about parking for my vehicle which I really appreciated.
Review 118:Radiator heat creates noise and experienced some inconsistent heat output. Bathroom small and could use updating.
Review 119:Large, charming, vintage room. Plenty of space to move around in and spread out. Convenient to clinic for very reasonable price. Pleasant and helpful staff. Feels like a home rather than a hotel room.
Review 120:The worst part was the window in the shower that had had sections of the "frost" missing. I could definitely take a shower at night. I would have been exposed from my thigh on up. No shampoo bottles. Very creaky floors. Carpet was filthy.
Review 121:Nothing. I don't recall ever being in a worse hotel. Not worth the inexpensive price.
Review 122:It was cute and old but not clean our sheets had hair all over em and when we asked for new once we got a nasty look although they did grant our request. the breakfast was oatmeal packets and old bread for toast. You can hear through the walls and the windows were all open so it was nice and fresh but freezing lol over all you could spend $10 and get a normal hotel but we are cheap so we stayed and it was doable for one night
Review 123:Rooms are hard to find. The room was to lit up at night to sleep in the deck was unsafe to stand on. I didn't feel safe there and the breakfast was not a breakfast only a nibble.
Review 124:I didn't like what they call breakfast; What breakfast. No hot food such as bacon sausage, eggs biscuit.
Review 125:I liked that I could sit on front porch smoke cigerates and people watch. I enjoyed the view and only wished there was more history on the hotel.
Review 126:we ended up looking at our room and cancelling. The rooms were really rundown and not inviting. The Hotel was a converted apartment building and was just a little creeping. The rooms were musty smelling and we did not feel comfortable staying there.
Review 127:The gentleman at the front desk let us cancel our reservation. He was very understanding and gave us suggestions for some other hotels to stay in.
Review 128:Very hard to find, but, I now know.... Needs updating. How about some inexpensive dishes and silverware for customers. Fix window screens
Review 129:I liked that it's very close to Mayo facilities. Staff was very nice. The price is very reasonable, WiFi works well, Nice and quite... we will be back!
Review 130:Smelled, filthy, no screens on windows (not sure if that is legal even) I guess if there was screens couldn't open anyway frames all busted. Lifted cushion on loveseat beyond filthy food actually under the cushion! Our bathroom sink almost overflowed when brushing my teeth, breakfast was a joke! Says no pets and a lady comes down at 10:00 PM with a black dog, my parents room had a opened used bar a soap in the shower so I am guessing that was not cleaned in there room. Just made me feel like bugs were crawling all over so I slept with the bathroom light on. Horrible experience would never go there again no matter how close to Mayo it is!
Review 131:Close to Mayo Clinc
Review 132:The carpeting was filthy. The building is very old and needs a lot of updating
Review 133:The close proximity to Mayo Clinic, restaurants. Shuttle service to Mayo.
Review 134:mades didn't know how to clean room or make beds, breakfast bar verry sparce no handycap room had been cleaned so had to take non handycap room and tub was dirty
Review 135:closs to mayo & downtown staff was very polite and helpful
Review 136:Looked like a crack house very scary
Review 137:Close to mayo
Review 138:It was disgusting. Bugs everywhere. Had to sleep with windows open because radiator wouldn't turn off.
Review 139:I liked nothing other than close to mayo.
