Reviews for The Lincoln Lodge Urbana
Review 1:lamps and shades broken ...room phone not working...grounds were shabby...most of the planters had dead plants...just throw them away....lobby was dark, dusty, dank
Review 2:location
Review 3:Did not see any breakfast arrangements though the receptionist mentioned some when I checked in.
Review 4:located quite close to the university and not far from the Illinois terminal. Large, clean and comfortable rooms. Amenities like microwave, fridge and decent internet.
Review 5:Not sure that a loaf of white bread and mini-chocolate donuts qualifies as a continental breakfast.
Review 6:Big rooms. Great beds. Fridge and microwave in the rooms is nice.
Review 7:The room was too dark - no light on the ceiling, and the light from lamps were rather dim. The place felt like a bomb shelter, except for the bed, which was comfortable.
Review 8:Very dirty bathroom, broken fridge. Moldy doughnuts as a continental breakfast.
Review 9:Nothing. We checked out on the first night of a three nights booking.
Review 10:The room was old and had bugs. No room service. No change of sheets and towels unless it is asked for. The cleaning lady came once and smoked in our room.
Review 11:Helpful frontdesk personel
Review 12:At 2am couple checked in next room, yelled and argued abd played loud music with door open. Management did nothing. I travel on business and cannot afford sleep loss like that again
Review 13:Cute, comfortable, kitch little hotel in a adequate central location near U of I campus neighborhood.
Review 14:The shower was not good (faucet leaky, water pressure low, tub did not drain properly), and the room was not kept very clean. The vending machine only had one can of Pepsi in it and all the food spaces were empty.
Review 15:The hotel is cheap, staff friendly, rooms spacious and bed comfortable. The free wifi was fast enough to stream video without problem.
Review 16:Probably a nice, clean hotel 40 years ago. Whole place smelled like an old bar. Hasn't been updated (or cleaned) in years. Save your money and go elsewhere. I booked online and paid about $150/night and I saw all kinds of paperwork for rooms that were booked for $50/night. Even the parking lot was a mess.
Review 17:not much to like except for the Dublin donuts across the street. Wouldn't use the filthy coffee pot in the room. Big sign in front of the hotel said "free continental breakfast". Nope. No breakfast. Even the vending machine was empty and the ice machine was locked up after ten pm.
Review 18:The mini fridge compressor was really loud.
Review 19:Let's be honest, it's the PBR of hotels. We didn't want to sleep on someone's couch again, and couldn't afford much for lodging. But this place was simple, clean, and comfortable, and it was close to campus. Not skeezy at all. And if you don't think those things I mentioned were important, you clearly can afford nicer lodging.
Review 20:Very noisy group of kids in the middle of the night and there was still a pile of leaves on the main walkway left from the fall. The continental breakfast was very disappointing.
Review 21:The room was very clean and cozy and the beds were comfortable
Review 22:The bed was pretty lame and the two pillows were pretty bad.
Review 23:The wifi was free and a better speed than many places I've stayed. The staff was very nice. The room and bathroom was very clean. The tv channel selection was solid. The breakfast was free and pleasant; coffee, cereal, small donuts.
Review 24:The room rate doubled for "Dad's Weekend", which was not a good value for this room. However, ALL local hotels/motels raised their rates for special events.
Review 25:The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. WiFi was available but did not try it. Pool on property. Not too far from campus.
Review 26:The continental breakfast was very poor. Plan to cross the street to Dunkin Donuts! The reception area could have been very impressive, but chairs were not arranged well....minor point.
Review 27:I stayed at the Lincoln Lodge because it was Dad's weekend at U of I, and it was the only available lodging. It was quiet, quaint, very clean, and safe. Truthfully, I was pleasantly surprised. Shower water pressure and water temperature are a big thing with me, and both were fine. The Lodge was built in 1939, so it has an historic flair.
Review 28:Run-down, sad and depressing. My room smelled like an ashtray, despite being "nonsmoking". If they can't afford to update and rehab it, please sell to someone who can! It's a great location and should be a goldmine!
Review 29:Wi-Fi was good, and the location was good.
Review 30:Water sprayed out everywhere from around the water valve and spigot soaking the floor. Fridge and microwave were junk. Furniture was rickety and old like a flea market find. Room was not cleaned and I had to track down clean dry towels for second night stay. Simplifying the furnishings and having a nice table with two chairs and a working fridge would be a nice improvement.
Review 31:Mattress and bedding was comfortable and very clean. Appreciated white sheets and coverlet. Pillows were good too. Flat screen tv was very nice. White towels were textured and in excellent repair. Brick wall in room gave rustic charm. Liked the wooden shutters. Night manager was polite and helpful in addressing WiFi problems.
Review 32:Upon registering, leaking ice machine wet carpet with a pile of wires &extension chords laying on wet carpet. Cabinet door fell off. Bathroom lite switch is actually in the shower. Some kind of moldy rats nest in ceiling vent in the shower. Wood window sills wet & moldy. Room smelled damp &moldy. Carpet in room actually sticky. Refrigerator loud. Too afraid to use ancient finish peeling off microwave. Would've had to plug it in to a surge protector that fridge, TV and lamps all plugged in to. It just gets worse.........
Review 33:Location perfect. Price great.
Review 34:Housekeeping was virtually non-existent. During a 3 night stay, the room was not cleaned one day and the staff had to be reminded to clean it another day.
Review 35:The proximity of this lodge to the University of Illinois, the location of our visit.
Review 36:I read some not so good reviews about this place prior to booking but decided to give it a try. Such very nice people running the hotel. Clean rooms. Cable in our room wasn't working when we arrived but staff fixed it immediately. Nice to support non chain hotels. Great value.
Review 37:No toilet paper. Discovered used soap at sink and in shower. Ice buckethad no liner and there were dead bugs and dust is it. Cable wasn'tworking and the icing on the cake- when I pulled back the covers therewas a blood stain on the sheets.
Review 38:I was totally duped. The pictures show really nice rooms, a nice pool, etc. When you get there the lobby is locked you have to enter through the furnace room door, and make your way into the lobby, that place looks like a tornadoe hit it, and the guy who runs it lives there somewhere. There are actual living room chairs sitting outside the rooms for people to sit on, and the bushes are full of hornets so you can't hardly get in and out of your car. They deliberately con people in with their fake pictures and you think it will be OK since it is very close to the U of I Campus. It is a place where people come for indescreet rondevous, to stay for a home etc. It was noisy, the decor is passe and it smelled like a moldy old log cabin. I will never stay there again. I have also warned all my friends and family to stay away from there. The water couldn't be controlled it was either scalding hot or freezing cold. What a waste of money. The place was so creepy I was afraid to ask for my money and leave, as they already had my credit card for security. Never will I go there again.
Review 39:Change in published price.
Review 40:The rate changed from what you had online. Not using you anymore.
Review 41:Not that. I was appalled at the deterioration of the facility
Review 42:Next to my original clinic site
Review 43:Beds not made and no clean towels were offered
Review 44:Noisy
Review 45:It's just so dark and dated that it's a bit depressing.
Review 46:Location, wifi, frig & microwave.
Review 47:Clean and friendly staff
Review 48:Heater did not work at all. Breakfast was very minimal. Dining room was very dusty and outdated.
Review 49:comfy bed
Review 50:Room was great value for the money Staff was Exceptionally Nice !!
Review 51:There was no maid service or room cleaning provided
Review 52:The location and the room size
Review 53:Updated rooms, clean, quiet, great location!
Review 54:Cozy, clean, very quiet has brick walls. Attractive room, easy in and out. I would book this hotel again. I would recommend as excellent in cost comfort ratio.
Review 55:It was a great room for the money. The bathroom was new & clean, comfortable bed. TV worked great. Good secure lock & dead bolt. Close to everything I needed.
Review 56:It can be a bit of a walk to places like University of Illinois, so expect to drive most places.
Review 57:A 1960's style hotel catering to drivers, clean and comfortable, interesting stylistic touches like wood panels and faux historic architecture.
Review 58:since it was graduation weekend we had little choice in where we could stay, everything was booked, we paid much too much for this room, way overpriced!
Review 59:staff was helpful and efficient, everything was clean, no noise
Review 60:The coffee pot in the room was literally disgusting... the only thing not clean about the room
Review 61:perfectly acceptable budget digs. Spotless room. Modern TV, comfortable beds, love the cozy wood panelling.
Review 62:The smell was a little musty. The shower went from cold to burning hot in seconds.
Review 63:We stayed here because we were running in the half marathon. It was close to the start and it was clean and comfortable. It was priced low for it being a high volume weekend. We were only there to shower and sleep so it was a good deal for us.
Review 64:Bathroom was fithy and unsanitary with blood all over made them come clean it in front of me. Then later at bed time the comforter had blood stains on it. They advertise breakfast but the next morning it was all locked up. I didnt need fancy but I did need clean.
Review 65:Location was good easy to find
Review 66:Rooms are not very clean. I do not require much for a room but this place was out dated. Crumbs found on one set of bed sheets on check in and rooms smell.
Review 67:Bathroom could do with a better cleaning, but not terrible. Saw a couple ants but rooms are on ground floor so that's understandable. Guy at desk said he would take care of it.
Review 68:Good price, ten minute walk from buses, easy check-in/out, good WiFi, comfortable beds
Review 69:I stayed at this hotel because everywhere else was booked for the daythat I needed to be Urbana. THis was one of the biggest mistakes I haveever made.1)When checking into the hotel, the clerk initally gave me the keycard for the wrong room. My daughter, who I was travelling with, dubbed the clerk as creepy...and he was. As I was walking down to my room, he yelled out to me and told me that he gave me the wrong room. He then gave me the key card to the right room. THis was the beginning of the bad experience.2)When we got into the room, we saw how spartan this room was. A bare brick wall. A TV hangin off this wall with the cable box hanging off the top of the TV by the coax cord connected to it. THe locker room style washroom. It was a disaster.3)I tried to turn on the TV, but all I got was the cable box was not authorized. I was travelling with my daughter and she said she didn't want that creepy clerk coming into our room to fix the TV and besides, she had homework to do, so we just went with no TV.4)No clock, no radio nothing much in the room. Not even a bible. I guess even the Gideon's I guess dont want to be there.5)THe chair in the room seemed like an old chair that someone rescued from the curb on Garbage day. An old upolstered chair. I would not even think about sitting in it.6)Later in the night, my daughter decided that she would take a shower and go to bed. WHen she went into the shower, we found a)a used washrag stuffed into the soap holder and b)a used bar of soap under the washrag. If it wasn't late (after 10:30 PM) and if I knew other places in the area were all booked up (thats why I ended up here) I would have left right then, but we decided to stick it out for the night.7)When my daughter was getting ready for bed, she pulled down the sheets and found them stained. We then stripped both beds in the room and pulled a couple of blankets we had in my car out of the car and used them to sleep with.
Review 70:Nothing at all
Review 71:They charged me for three nights even though I only booked for two nights and when I called the front desk to fix the problem, the employee on duty wouldn't help me and told me to stop by the front desk in the morning to fix it. The man working at the front desk in the morning told me to call Booking and would only help me after the customer service representative from Booking spoke to him. They did not clean my room for the second day I visited. Breakfast was meager, at best. I also found an old breadcrust on the floor, a ponytail left behind by a previous guest, and gum stuck to both of the headboards in my room.
Review 72:The room is not well lighted. You have to wait a lot of time for the hot water and the bathtub is enamelled.
Review 73:The position of the hotel is ok, the room was cleaned and the bed are comfortable. The staff was kindly. In the room you have a conditioner for the the cold night, the coffee maker with 2 coffee bag and sugar and a microwave.
Review 74:Lukewarm water so couldn't take a shower, no hair dryer, said breakfast would be provided and we had to dig through dirty cabinets to find out that our breakfast was a half eaten box of donuts which was not set out for us along with nothing to drink.
Review 75:The room was decent for the price. I liked the cabin feel and the bed was pretty comfortable.
Review 76:Desk clerk at check in not friendly or helpful. Room had coffee maker nocups, took
Review 77:Close to u of I, had snow storm desk clerk cleaned and shoveledout my car.
Review 78:One of the rooms bathrooms wasn't quite as nice as the other, but nothing egregious
Review 79:Friendly staff, good rooms, nice atmosphere (brick and wood panel walls)
Review 80:The non-smoking room rake like hell. Mold everywhere in the bathroomtub. Could hear people next door and further away from my room. And theytalk fight and scream at each other for hours and hours. Then started upvery early next morining too. They pounded on my door like a 2:30 am!!!! Not an expereince I want to repeat ever again.
Review 81:The location was ok.
Review 82:The room was clean but old so there were some things that justcouldn't look clean. The walls were very thin and it was easy tohear the people next door. There was hot water but it took a whileto get it at a steady temperature. The thermostat was verycomplicated to use.
Review 83:It was a good price. The room was cleaned each day. Had all of thenormal hotel necessities. Was aged but had a cabin feel.
Review 84:Towels were very sparse...no hand lotion & the walls were very thin....heard our neighbors on either side...loud, loud. Of course it was Homecoming weekend & so there was a lot of partying going on.
Review 85:It was clean & the beds were comfortable....staff was friendly. It was a last minute booking for Homecoming weekend.
Review 86:Terrible cleaning stuff (for five days did not clean the coffee machine or brought more coffee or cups, even when I told them), 20 minutes until getting hot water!
Review 87:Large rooms, fridge, microwave, comfortable bed, nice guy at the office
Review 88:The place advertises a continental breakfast. That is true in thetechnical, legal sense. There is food and it is there in the morning, solawyers conducting an audit would be happy. But choose this placebecause it says it offers breakfast. There were two containers of cheap,Walmart donuts (the kind that has a dozen in a crinkly plastic box witha large red sticker that says $2.50 in large print). There were twoplastic bags of wonder bread, jam and honey packets, and two rubbermaidcontainers of dry cerial.I had no hot water when I took a shower. That was the most frustrating thing about the place. The bathroom tub also had lots of enamel pealed off. If you need a shower, you're good. If you want a bath . . . but who would want to take a bath in a $50 place?
Review 89:The place was clean and the manager was quite friendly. If you need abed to sleep in, this place gets the job done.
Review 90:Took forever to get the hot water. - typlical of an older building. -the breakfast was a little lean- but there is a Dunkin Donuts across thestreet- so not a problem--
Review 91:Bathroom and room were neat and clean- a littel out dated but the lodgehas been there since the 1930's so the atmophere is great- very oldworld. For the money- a place to sleep- a small park right next doorfor the children to run and play in- and the room was clean if not alittle dark-
Review 92:It was priced too high for the quality of the place. It did not look nice from the outside but the room wasn't too bad.
Review 93:The room was clean and woodsy.
Review 94:I made a reservation for two nights, I calles to let the staff know thatI was arriving really late at night. Ingot there, and no one was at thefront office, I called and no one answered. I had to stay at a differenthotel that night.
Review 95:Lighting was very poor. The room, escpecially bathroom, could use some updating.
Review 96:Convenience of the location. Having a microwave and refridgerator was a very nice feature.
Review 97:The room needs updating. The bathtub paint was peeling badly. Not enough lighting... One big thing--they failed to give us a wakeup call. did not come thru. Overall the rooms need updating.
Review 98:Staff were friendly.. When we first arrived, the manager checked the room to see if ready. Location was good.
Review 99:this is the poorest place I have even stayed in in the US.
Review 100:Cleanliness is an issue. Found something that looked like a pubic hair in my sheets.
Review 101:Good wireless, good price.
Review 102:Rooms are got but a bit "dark", not enough lighting.
Review 103:Size of the room, bed was comfortable. Location (quite close to UIUC).
Review 104:The musty smell and mouse traps. The bathtub was peeling. It was dark inside. We left after one hour.
Review 105:The TV was newer.
Review 106:Very outdated - smelled musky !!!!
Review 107:shower, water either very cold or very hot
Review 108:Cost and location
Review 109:Room was very dark. Inside wall was brick. Indoor Upholstered chairs rotting outside the rooms.
Review 110:Location
Review 111:The hotel is very old and needs updating.
Review 112:Staff was very nice and helpful. Room seemed very clean.
Review 113:didn't have a iron or hair dryer
Review 114:Clean, close to campus, nice staff, had light breakfast available
Review 115:The shower water switched wildly between cold and very hot.
Review 116:Employees, beds, room, wifi.
Review 117:Maid service Shower hot->cold
Review 118:Price
Review 119:Pretty dated and door didn't seal well
Review 120:Size of room and location/price
Review 121:The hotel was close to campus. The hotel had the parking lot plowed in the morning after a big snow. Thank you! Jean
Review 122:OUT OF DATE STYLING
Review 123:LOCATION
Review 124:A bed sheet was not changed, it was dirty and smelled a lot. There was a spider web too. I would not recommend this motel.
Review 125:Comfortable, nice feeling inside the room.
Review 126:the place needs to be updated. everything pretty old.
Review 127:Musty smell
Review 128:Staff
Review 129:Hard to get to at night without a car.
Review 130:Clean, quaint, simple and just what you'd expect. Not fancy.
