Reviews for Hotel Vermont Burlington

Review 1:We booked a room for three adults. The room had a queen size bed that had a trundle bed under it. When we decided to go to bed we realized when we pulled out the trundle bed that there were no linens, sheets , blanket, pillow. Just a mattress. Also there was a fire in the hotel. We were on the 5th floor and awoke at 3:00 AM to fire alarms and the smell of smoke. We had to evacuate the hotel and were told we had to exit the hotel. We stood outside on the sidewalk in sub zero temperatures in our pajamas for over a half hour until we were told we could go to the hotel next door to wait in their lobby. We spent another half hour or so there before we could return to the hotel. Our daughter had a very early flight to catch so when we were given the OK to return to the hotel we had only a few minutes to pack up and head to the airport. She made her flight but only by a few minutes. We have not been provided with any credit for the nights stay which I am very surprised at.

Review 2:Staff was very good, excellent location, very clean

Review 3:Room faced parking lot. Have to walk around buildings/lots to get to Main Street.

Review 4:Nicely designed boutique hotel. Clean, comfortable, quiet rooms. Friendly staff.

Review 5:No view even though we got there early in day and booked months in advance. Paid same price as are rooms with views. We were on the end of the top floor looking at the courthouse for two nights ?

Review 6:Room 514 in front of staff room where whites are kept, becomes too noisy with the door slams early in the morning

Review 7:Staff, convenient location, quality to price, use of bicycles, coffee/chocolate and apples in floor

Review 8:The room was very small and sparsely furnished which made it uncomfortable to sit around and relax. The beds were very comfortable but so high my mother who is elderly and only 5' tall had a difficult time getting in and out. The energy saving features were difficult to manipulate - lights went out even though deadbolt was engaged. The front desk suggested playing with the thermostat to get the lights back on. The thermostat did not work probably, and it was difficult to charge cell phones and laptops which I'm assuming was all due to the energy saving features. Overall, based on the rate paid, it definitely fell short of my expectations.

Review 9:The lobby and hallways were beautiful, the beds were very comfortable. The staff was very friendly.

Review 10:For such a fitness friendly area the gym was "ok" and the shower wasn't entirely spotless. It wouldn't stop us from returning though.

Review 11:The rooms while smallish are beautifully designed and the materials throughout the hotel (wood, granite etc) are beautiful. The staff was awesome and we loved the all-VT draft beer selection at the bar. Overall a much lovelier alternative to the national chain hotels next door.

Review 12:Need more mirrors. TV wouldn't go over 60% volume. Volume control on shower would be nice.

Review 13:Refrigerator rather than mini-bar. Responsive climate-control. Refund/Cancellation policy (didn't use). Great vacation neighborhood in town center.

Review 14:I wish the rooms were slightly larger

Review 15:It's a charming boutique hotel situated very nicely in downtown Burlington with a gorgeous fireplace world-class bar and really cool people who work there and definitely look happy working there

Review 16:The staff was very welcoming and well-informed. The place was clean, beautiful and looked sharp. They even sent us a bottle of Prosecco with champagne glasses to celebrate my 50th b-day and our 21st wedding anniversary. All I can say...Hotel Vermont...they are a class act!

Review 17:The front desk staff is very friendly, very helpful and attended to our every need. The look and feel of the hotel is quite nice. Modern and comfortable with a strong flavor of Vermont. We loved it.

Review 18:Nothing I didn't like.

Review 19:A modern and vibrant hotel with wonderful friendly staff who all seem commited to making your stay as pleasant as possible, speaks volumes for the hotels training ethics. I didn't eat in the hotel but they are linked to the restaurant next door where I did eat and the food was superb, I did though enjoy the hotel cocktail bar, again great staff with a great cocktail menu, a fun way to start an evening. My room 521, was clean, spacious and comply, the window looked onto a car park but you could see lake Champlain as well.

Review 20:They have pantries on each floor so no tea or coffee facilities in the room, the idea is nice, but a bit of a pain.

Review 21:Good location with very friendly and helpful staff. The Juniper restaurant was good, but breakfast not included in the price. The hipster vibe is carried through the hotel very well.

Review 22:I thought I booked a room with a view, but we only got a view of the front building. The photo of the room when making a reservation had a nice view of the lake. Our room was located on the third floor, and not facing the lake. Don't expect the same lake view of the website.

Review 23:Best location, very close to Main street, the lake and Champlain college. Nice ambience, very clean, free coffee, Wifi, Valet parking. The best restaurant, Hen of the Wood is in the same building.

Review 24:Beautiful and comfortable room. Friendly, interested staff (exceptional in this area), delicious food at breakfast and dinner, and bar that was hard to tear myself and my family away from. High marks all around!

Review 25:I had issue before arrival and left message requesting a call back from the manager- my call was never returned (I resolved the issue on my own). Noisy room refrigerator during night woke us. Bathroom needs soft 'night light'. Advertised available bikes for our party of 3 were unavailable for our first day as they were 'out for repair'.

Review 26:Great location close to Church Street shops and restaurants; comfortable bed. Appreciated very much the available coffee from the floor pantry in the morning and self parking for $10 day.

Review 27:charged us 10 for parking on a day of free parking. I am guessing the person didn't know and we didn't take time to correct him.

Review 28:vermont pride everywhere. Very proud community and staff. Seltzer dispensers are wonderful.

Review 29:There is nothing bad here, although it certainly is not the cheapest choice. :)

Review 30:The staff was so helpful, the location is absolutely fabulous. And the vibe is similar to international hotels I have stayed at abroad. Classy, hip, fun. The bikes were a wonderful surprise! The location really cannot be beat between the proximity to church street and to the waterfront. We will definitely be back.

Review 31:-Pet Service. -Complimentary Coffee and Tea. -Close to the Lake and the best shopping in Burlington. -Great hotel restaurant. Very lively. -Everyone was extremely helpful and seemed to enjoy their job.

Review 32:I have absolutely nothing to add to this section. Honestly, the attention to detail by all involved is superb.

Review 33:Thank you, Booking.com for bringing this location to our attention. A brilliant gem nestled near the shores of Lake Champlain in the fabulous city of Burlington.

Review 34:I didn't even notice that there wasn't a pool until someone asked me after the fact.

Review 35:Never have I stayed at a "themed" hotel where the theme actually improved my experience - Hotel Vermont has changed all that. With complimentary water / coffee / snack stations on each floor, live music in the lobby, Eco-efficient everything, and an awesome fitness center - I will definitely spring for the slightly higher room rate next time I'm in Burlington.

Review 36:The weather was brutally cold.....

Review 37:Friendly, efficient and knowledgable staff. Environmentally conscious. Sourcing and use of all things local from food and beverages to artists. Hen of the woods restaurant next door is fantastic.

Review 38:The price was painful. The complementary beverages and "snacks" were a nice idea though not well-executed. There were only a few apples available in the evening and nothing in the morning except for coffee/tea/water. Given the lack of vending machines and the (relative) distance from other quick food options, this led to some intense hangriness. If you have children, be prepared with your own snacks.

Review 39:The location - while not on Lake Champlain and thus without a good view - is still good for exploring downtown Burlington on foot. Very nice design touches - I especially enjoyed the waxed cotton pouch with reading materials, the Johnson Woolen Mills blanket, complementary notebook, and the trundle bed option for our 3rd guest - though the sliding bathroom doors may not be to everyone's liking.

Review 40:This hotel does NOT have a Room Service Department, however, if you do want something sent up to your room, they will do their very best to accommodate you if they are not extremely busy in the restaurant. So don't expect a "Room Service" menu in your room. The Fitness Room was great. Well equipped and very clean. However, if you are a swimmer you will need to walk next door the The Marriott (a mere 10 paces or so), and you can use their pool for FREE. There is very little space for your clothes. The closet is only big enough to comfortably accommodate clothing for one. A bit of a tight squeeze for two people. Also, don't expect a dresser with drawers. We did miss that. There were a few cubbies to place your clothes. We ended up keeping most of our clothes in our suitcases. A bit of an annoyance especially since we stayed for three nights.

Review 41:So happy we stayed here! This was our first stay at Hotel Vermont and we definitely plan on returning in the summer. Excellent location - centrally located across from Lake Champlain and walking distance from all the shops and restaurants in downtown Church Street. The hotel staff was exceptional! Kind, thoughtful, informative and knowledgeable. A special thanks to Serah, Amela, Cameron, Tim and Sophie. We stayed during the Christmas holiday, from the 24th-27th, and the lobby was beautifully and tastefully decorated. We even received a Christmas card in our room on Christmas morning from the entire staff. We really loved the personal touches. The rustic/modern decor was welcoming, warm and classy. You felt like you were in someone's rustic, upscale living room as opposed to a cold hotel lobby. Many visitors (locals and hotel guests) frequented the lobby on a nightly basis. The fireplace was an added bonus! The rooms are "cool" and "edgy" and you feel more like you're staying in a "hip" downtown apartment rather than a "stuffy" hotel room. Bed was so comfortable. Not to mention: Each floor is equipped with a Keurig machine, plenty of K Cups, filtered water for tea, bagged ice, and a basket of apples. On Christmas Eve, they had a plate of homemade cookies out as well! Also, Juniper, the hotel's on site restaurant was AMAZING. We ate there twice for breakfast and once for lunch. Fresh, delicious and excellent presentation. The waitstaff was also extremely friendly and welcoming. We can't wait to come back to HOTEL VERMONT!

Review 42:I didn't like that we were only there one night. We will have to come back.

Review 43:The location was so convenient to shopping, restaurants, and the lake. We enjoyed the fireplace inside, as well as the one outside (with blankets provided), as well as the Juniper bar, and their great food and drink. We loved the presence of so many local items in the hotel. It made for a very special Vermont stay. I also love the design of the hotel. The Keurig coffee on each floor was very convenient. I took advantage of the gym as well. Parking was easy in the garage. The staff was well dressed. It felt like the experience of a New York City boutique hotel in a more natural setting. I even bought a couple of the Hotel Vermont beer can glasses, very cool.

Review 44:The mechanism of the room doors produce a high slamming noise which startles at any time making imposible to have a good sleep at night.

Review 45:Location, design

Review 46:The water tempature was Luke warm all weekend. I like that they are conscientious about saving energy, but the temp was downright uncomfortable.

Review 47:The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We were able to borrow snowshoes which made for a morning of fun. We love Junipers for breakfast and stopped in Hen of the Wood for drinks, a wonderfully cozy bar!

Review 48:Decor is great. Lobby/bar really cool & inviting. Guest rooms have perfect design and layout. Always comfortable. Ideal location to see the lake and walk to Church Street.

Review 49:View from room over parking lot

Review 50:Room and amenities, tasteful and locally sourced items, also for sale-Clean, excellent food, also locally sourced, and beverages. So happy I found this place. Already recommended to friends. Convenient.

Review 51:The Hotel Vermont is very modern and friendly with an appropriate casual pace. The staff is friendly and helpful and almost everything is from Vermont. Who would have guessed that they grow their own grains for oatmeal in VT? and it's tasty. Great location, great experience, and fun.

Review 52:Loved the modern vibe and atmosphere. Room was beautiful and comfortable. Juniper was awesome, great beer selection and friendly/helpful bartenders. 10 out of 10

Review 53:The cleaning of the room left to desire a bit.

Review 54:The bed! The facilities and the activities offered, even though we didn't take advantage of them, we'll do next time. At last a boutique hotel in Burlington!

Review 55:No closet or hangars for clothing; a step-stool for the high bed would have been useful.

Review 56:Use of regional art & craft works, ample size of room, helpful friendly staff.

Review 57:coffee machines in the rooms would be great.

Review 58:design: all wood, ecofriendly. great location between Lake and Main shopping district. Friendly staff.

Review 59:Spacious room and comfortable bed. Breakfast was very good and there is a shopping district within walking distance with many restaurants for dinner. Staff was very nice and friendly, and we were provided a free parking pass for the garage next to the hotel.

Review 60:No safes in the room, had to leave valuables at the front desk deposit box

Review 61:Great location to the lake and shopping, free bikes, and sophisticated decor.

Review 62:Coffee is at a communal pantry at the elevators - trudging down in pyjamas every morning was eventful!

Review 63:The hotel feels new and fresh. The sustainability features are welcome. Rooms are clean, beautiful and extremely quiet. Staff are all enthusiastic, friendly and helpful. The hotel bar and restaurant is great quality, if a little pricey. The location is perfect for central Burlington and the lake front.

Review 64:The yoga studio :( I booked yoga for 4 of us and cancelled after I went to see the studio. I'm sure the instructors are good but space is not.

Review 65:The hotel is beautiful and the staff could not have been more helpful and kind.

Review 66:We loved everything from the reclaimed wood and stylish textiles, to the helpful friendly young staff. Also appreciated the excellent, reasonably priced restaurant! We will look forward to returning.

Review 67:Nice boutique hotel in the heart of Burlington. Very comfortable rooms although mine was facing a parking lot. Easy parking though, which was great in Burlington.

Review 68:Meal in bistro, Fries were very oily and overcooked, requested fresh batch and they weren't much better, shame as the rest of the bistro food was excellent.

Review 69:Large bedroom super comfy beds, immaculate bathroom. Enjoyed the bar and sitting outside having our drinks by the fire pit. Unique stylish hotel with welcoming staff, would highly recommend!

Review 70:The hotel blamed Booking.com for confusion about the room. According to the hotel, Booking.com should not be selling any Standard King rooms only limited-view King rooms.

Review 71:The hotel was very new/clean.

Review 72:although it rained sadly during our visit, we really wanted to bike around the lake. great to have the convenience of bikes right in the lobby. spa-like atmosphere even in the hallway. great restaurant even though in our one day stay, we only had the opportunity to eat one meal (with college tours taking most of our time)

Review 73:The food in the restaurant, No pool or hot tub, rooms were too small. The price of the room.

Review 74:clean, modern. Loved the shower. Beds nice but, small. loved having a fridge in the room. Nice TV.

Review 75:It was raining the night we stayed and you could hear a dripping sound that was annoying.

Review 76:Location near downtown. Nice sized room with comfortable beds. Lots of room in the bathroom.

Review 77:This time the room overlooked a parking garage. I asked why because I was a repeat customer. They told me because I booked it through booking. Com. Terrible view:(

Review 78:Great place!

Review 79:Staff at the lobby were not friendly or helpful.

Review 80:Loved the idea and execution of the physical part of the hotel; beautiful, natural, warm and artistic.

Review 81:NOTHING

Review 82:EVERYTHING! Activities Director, Farm to Table dining, artesian water on tap, fresh fruit, organic coffees & teas, incredible gym & yoga, cheerful & inspired concierge services at front desk, obsessive housekeeping... What else do you need?

Review 83:My initial encounter at the front desk was a little strange. Before I had a chance to give my name, the desk clerk said "Are you sure you are in the right place? The Marriott is next door." Yes, I am an older woman and no, I probably won't be borrowing one of the bikes, but there must be some non-athletes staying here. To be fair, the clerk may have been in training; she also had problems finding my reservation. And the young men who met us at the door were both engaging and professional. We were also disappointed with the view of the parking garage roof and its frequent pedestrian visitors right outside our window. The acoustics in the lobby - which is all hard surfaces - is unkind to music, live or not. One final suggestion: the bath tub should have a grab bar installed. Most hotels have them, and these tubs are very deep.

Review 84:We chose Hotel Vermont after seeing a piece about it on Boston's WCVB "Chronicle." We were pleased with the North Woods feel, the great beds, the outdoorsy activities available, and most of the staff. Breakfast at Juniper was very good, and dinner at Hen in the Woods truly memorable.

Review 85:- Found the air conditioning a bit aggressive, though it can be completely controlled from the room.

Review 86:- Excellent service from the staff: we had an issue with some noise that was unavoidable on the first night, and the manager bumped us to a suite for the second night stay. More than made up for the inconvenience. - Great amenities: ice cream served in lobby as you arrive for check-in - Great restaurants in area: The Hen and Wood was phenomenal. - Friendly service throughout

Review 87:No negatives at all....

Review 88:We felt like we were at our own beautiful condo.....decor was warm, rustic modern....and oh so clean....Juniper was excellent and all staff were so enthused to answer any questions we had....also loved the fact that we could walk most places and especially out for dinner....!

Review 89:-Two hour bike limitation...but understand the reasoning.

Review 90:So much! From a picky gal- great stay, staff, location, cocktails, dinner, rooms....you get it.

Review 91:Unbelievable hotel. The restaurant Juniper is superb and we loved our meals there. Reception was so helpful and the room was perfect. Love the water stations and shared bikes.

Review 92:Can't find anything negative.

Review 93:Perfect location and setup in regards to help, the staff, the service and how everything is done. One of the best hotels I ever spend some nights on. Wish they had some hotels other places in US.

Review 94:initial check in experience, prior to manager intervening noise of air conditioning views are somewhat limited expensive

Review 95:hotel appearance modern look of interior rooms new clean manager: Matt staff recommendations snacks provided

Review 96:Great activities laid on for guests including cycling tours, kayaking and paddle boarding. It was a trial for the 2014 summer but I hope it continues. You can find details on the events page of the hotel website.

Review 97:What's not to like? I'm not sure if the Wi Fi was all that good but that may have been just my phone.

Review 98:I loved the design of the facility. Well done!

Review 99:I wasn't exactly clear on the parking, $8 for self-park with a voucher to get out (so you don't get charged again?!) or $12 for valet. Honestly, for the price of the hotel, self-parking should really be free. The gym and yoga studio are tight, but clean and friendly.

Review 100:Greeted with happy and knowledgeable staff. The style was contemporary/trendy, but not stiff - very vermont! The bedroom (we stayed in a "simple king") was HUGE, there was a trundle bed beneath (which we didn't even know was there) and a long window seat. The decor was simple, yet attractive. Yay for blackout shades if you want to stay in the luxurious room all day. We could barely bring ourselves to leave to explore, haha! Unfortunately we did not meander to the bar or hotel restaurant, although I imagine the food is at least decent...

Review 101:No room service for the price Limited Juniper menu selection

Review 102:Comfort Staff Bed Shower Location

Review 103:Location and friendly

Review 104:Noise level in the hallway was higher than expected as other guests passed through.

Review 112:Friendly staff, very clean and well designed rooms, great central location.

Review 113:The look of the lobby was both warm and welcoming and cool with design. Loved the fireplace and seating around it.

Review 114:Fussy breakfast menu. Deadlock light control which didn't work

Review 115:Comfortable, well equipped room.

Review 116:Friendly staff comfortable beds brilliant location

Review 117:Price

Review 118:Simplicity of decor and the staff.

Review 119:nice new hotel. staff very nice and want to help

Review 120:Noce moderno hotel - free bikes to take advantage of burlingtons great bike paths

Review 121:Had everything needed in clean, pleasing and very nicely designed space. Everything functional and working.

Review 122:The bands and the marvelous rooms

Review 123:NOTHING!

Review 124:Excellent, friendly service!

Review 125:Just love the whole vibe, the decor, the helpful attitude of the staff, the music in the lobby, the free bikes

Review 126:Food at the restaurant wasn't as good as I spected. Only one massage room.

Review 127:Location, coffee machine on each floor, nice staff!
