Reviews for Eastland Suites Hotel & Conference Center Urbana
Review 1:The room we stayed in was in a separate building from the pool, and the weather was too cold for us to walk back and forth from the pool. Kids were disappointed.
Review 2:Large room was perfect for our family, including the rollout bed and kitchenette. Breakfast was great.
Review 3:I didn't the fact they do not have AC in the rooms. Had to sleep with the balcony door open to get cool enough to sleep.
Review 4:Was on a trip to visit U of I with my son so the location was great. The free breakfast was a bonus; not just bagels and cream cheese. Be ready for eggs, sausage, potatoes and more.
Review 5:The AC is out dated and the ceiling had noticeable water damage over one of the beds. The bathroom toilet handle was also broken (but still able to flush).
Review 6:Cost and location were good.
Review 7:The breakfast wanst good
Review 8:Nice staff and great rooms Free shuttle to anywere in the city, which was great, and complimentary drinks from mon-fry in the looby Also, the free wifi is good
Review 9:Just keep in mind that you are not at the Ritz Carlton, it wasn't new or that modern but it was modest. The linen was a little hard but then it felt like a loaf sponge which is good.
Review 10:I was pleasantly surprised. It was very clean and no bad smell. The bed was so comfortable. I wanted to complain be I really couldn't.
Review 11:The king sofa room with kitchen and desk and lounge area was clean and spacious. Also liked that rooms were in separate small buildings with outside entrance rather then in a building with hallways. This gave the feeling of privacy and separation.
Review 12:We had connecting doors to the loudest family ever. They kept the party going until 3 am. We did call the front desk at midnight to complain. Seems they only got louder. We had to be up at 6. Also great variety on breakfast, but the hot stuff was very cold.
Review 13:We loved your staff and room size.
Review 14:Very bad lighting in the 3 rooms that I booked. Some of the light bulbs were on the verge of burning out. The bathrooms were not as pictured = single sink with no counter space. The bathroom floors were sticky. The bathroom I had smelled, the toilet needed to be cleaned. Every room was a mismatched furniture mess. Most, if not all, of the kitchen surfaces were sticky. The wooden kitchen chairs were very worn and dirty. The appliance were very old and in need of replacement' Some were rusty, except the refrigerators that looked new. One of the 3 rooms was sprayed everyday with what smelled like incense that lingered all day. Another problem was there was a party outside one of the 3 room we had. In the morning there were broken beer bottles and garbage in front of the room door. I did not have the free breakfast but I was told that the scrambled eggs were watery and grey in color. Also there were no biscuits to go with the gravy. This was seen at the beginning of the breakfast time. The wifi was sub-par, lost connection several times. Since I have no need to return to this location I'm glad I will not need to stay here again.
Review 15:The bed was very comfortable. Plenty of hot water for showers.
Review 16:They didn't go along with my room rate when I booked the hotel.Instead, they charged me twice as much the second night of my stay, eventhough my confirmation from the travel website said I booked both nightsfor $200 left. After showing them my confirmation and dealing with poorand rude attitudes from the staff about it, I finally got my money back.On top of that, the hotel looks nothing like the pictures. It's veryrun down and smells awful throughout the halls and rooms.
Review 17:Cleaning staff left a damp cleaning rag on top of my pajamas - but the hotel offered to launder them. I had another pair, so it was not necessary.
Review 18:Great amenities like pool, hot breakfast, microwave and fridge in room - more than other hotels which cost a lot more! Nice grounds - well kept.
Review 19:We stayed in one of the buildings that was separate from the main hotel. There was no ice in the room's freezer so we had to drive to the main hotel to get to the ice machine. Being in the separate building was also inconvenient for access to the pool and exercise area.
Review 20:The property is older, but in decent shape. Beds were very comfortable. The pool is a nice size and the exercise room was well equipped. The breakfast buffet was delicious and included a great variety of hot and cold items.
Review 21:You have excellent ammenities. I was very impressed with the free drinks and half off pizza that we enjoyed while we were there. We also ate at the free breakfast before we left. Very nice!!!
Review 22:The overall location was great , quiet and clean. The only thing we didn't like was the WiFi connection which was weak at best. Also they started construction pretty early in the morning a lot of banging but I still would stay there again.
Review 23:As you can tell from my likes, I really enjoyed my stay here, but there were a few things that could be improved. The television reception was pretty bad, fuzzy. That matters to men and boys watching their sports, not so much me. While the couch in our room was really comfortable while sitting on it, when you pulled it out to sleep on it was pretty uncomfortable so bring something to put over the mattress to protect yourself from uncomfortable springs. I should have done that. Otherwise it's a big pull out, plenty of room for two kids. The king suites are in these little buildings that look like apartment buildings, so you do have to walk outside to get to things like breakfast, the pool, workout room, etc. Not a problem for me but may be for some.
Review 24:The things I absolutely loved about the King suite with a full kitchen (I can't speak to the other room types) were the size, so much space to spread out if you have kids; the full kitchen, specifically the full size fridge and the counter space; and the fact that it was really updated, nice cabinets, carpet, lamps, etc. The other thing I really really can't love enough was the hot buffet breakfast, probably the best free breakfast I've ever had in a hotel. Loads of hot items, the eggs actually seemed real, the other hot items changed each day, real plates and silverware, I could go on and on. Another nice thing was the complimentary drink in the hotel bar each night. Real drink, real (awesome) bartender. Oh yeah, and there's a parrot in the lobby. Oh yeah, and a super huge heated (and I mean heated) pool.
Review 25:Nothing! Entire 2 days was fan-tas-tic!!
Review 26:The location was same, if not better, than a competitor's, let's say you could greet the competition by saying "HI". The price was far, far, far (did I say "far") better than I ever thought in the area!! The room was absolutely clean! The staff was just, friendly. Don't know what specifically I can touch one, but it was an excellent place to stay. It's a "hidden gem"!!
Review 27:Was overcharged for my dogs and had to call to have it corrected. If I was not expensing the stay, I would have been overcharged 75 dollars. They need to change their policy of taking a hefty, per dog, deposit and then refunding most of it because it can, and in this case, did, lead to a customer being overcharged.
Review 28:Free drink at the bar
Review 29:LAUNDRY ROOM DIRTY
Review 30:GREAT STAFF
Review 31:We enjoyed the space and how there was two rooms
Review 32:Other travellers slamming their rooms doors.
Review 33:Cleanliness, room temperature and mattress were very comfortable.
Review 34:HVAC is not easy to adjust. Heat was too powerful so I had to open the window, then it got too cold and I was up again.
Review 35:I like the breakfast every morning. It is usually pretty good.
Review 36:the very best part of this hotel was the wonderful staff. from the front desk to the bartender to the ladies that clean the rooms.
Review 37:The poll and bar area
Review 38:I liked the fact that the suites were separated into separate buildings, basically 4 stes to a building. I also enjoyed the complimentary breakfast.
Review 39:Older hotel but clean
Review 40:My phone didn't have a good signal, I couldn't make or receive calls inside the hotel room.
Review 41:Lost our reservation
Review 42:Nothing
Review 43:Clean, good breakfast good value
Review 44:There was a smell of sewer gas in the bathroom. I had to keep the bathroom door closed.
Review 45:It was nice and quiet. Easy sleeping.
Review 46:The hallways need some updating. They appear run down and do not have a pleasant smell.
Review 47:Our room was fabulous! Very clean and spacious.
Review 48:Nothing I didn't like
Review 49:Proxmity to my Nephrew school
Review 50:The free breakfast is great. The rooms are really large and very comfortable. The kitchen makes life very convenient.
Review 51:The hotel is broken up into many small buildings with picnic tables and useful space surrounding each building. Excellent price for a HUGE room.
Review 52:Breakfast was delicious but just a little cold since it was towards the end of the oan
Review 53:The complementary shuttle bus was WONDERFUL!
Review 54:The staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast was hot and delicious. The rooms were shockingly big for the rate.
Review 55:Very friendly staff
Review 56:Couch looks dirty, wouldn't touch it all. Rug was old and the walls and base boards needed painting.
Review 57:Room was clean and equipped, staff was friendly and helpful! Pool was awesome. My kids loved every minute of it.
Review 58:The person who checked us in was very helpful. The bar tender Greg was very good so were the ladies who served breakfast
Review 59:pillows were uncomfortable and lack of cable channels or pay per view. Room service hours could be longer too
Review 60:There were ants in the bath/shower floor area.
Review 61:Staff were very accommodating and friendly.
Review 62:Nothing bad to say.
Review 63:Only had to stay one night, but it was very comfortable with a very polite staff!
Review 64:Nice accommodations. Hot breakfast. Very cordial staff. Very clean.
Review 65:Loved everything!
Review 66:I think the pool could have a cleaner look. But it was ok
Review 67:The staff. The woman who checked me in on Friday afternoon was very helpful and professional
Review 68:The motel controls the temperature in the rooms. Ours was too warm.
Review 69:Bartender Gregg was wonderfully helpful and friendly
Review 70:The pull out couch was not conducive to sleeping. We could feel the springs poking through even with the mattress on the floor. One of my sons slept on the floor on our air mattress and the other slept on the couch on top of the cushions. If not for this, our stay would have been perfect.
Review 71:I was very impressed with the size and comfort of the suites. It is not often that you can find a hotel room that accommodates a family of six comfortably and economically. The staff was very helpful and we enjoyed our stay.
Review 72:toliet system is old doesnt work at first. The maintenance guy told us this hotel was old and needed to be reconstructed soon! Hole it will become perfect in a short time
Review 73:space breakfast
Review 74:Although I was grateful for the in-room coffeemaker, only one regular coffee packet was provided. And a TV channel guide would have been most helpful!
Review 75:Location was excellent. I had requested a suite that did not require a long walk for my 93-year-old Mom. Room 101 was just perfect; parked right outside the window and the morning walk to the breakfast buffet was not taxing for her. Although a two bed room was reserved (which I understand are all on the second floor), the roomy king was well worth the trade-off for the short walk. Breakfast, staff, bartender - all just outstanding!! I periodically visit U of I and will definitely stay at Eastland Suites in the future.
Review 76:The location is easily accessible just off I-74, but the neighborhood does not match the appeal of the hotel...not much you can do about that, though.
Review 77:The pool was great, as well as the room.
Review 78:Ray Kestner at the bar was very helpful and helped us relax despite threatening weather and a tiring drive! He made sure we got the complimentary drinks as well.
Review 79:Water in room took a long time to get hot.
Review 80:Requested reclining chair-was in room upon arrival. Requested early arrival and late departure-both granted. Thanks for a great visit. Will be sure to visit again and recommend to others.
Review 81:The shower water took about 20 minutes to get warm. The shuttle hoursdid not meet my schedule for flight
Review 82:The room and overall facility was very good.
Review 83:Our clean, well-furnished courtyard suite had a full-sized refrigerator and a four burner stove. The breakfast buffet had real eggs, good muffins and fresh fruit - a cut above the offerings at the many chain hotels in Champaign. The pool was huge and warm, and the front desk staff were welcoming and helpful.
Review 84:No big complaints. The bathroom sink did not drain very well. We reallyneeded a handicapped accessible bathroom with grab bars in shower. Butwe made our reservation in 03/13 and forgot to ask 4 this feature.
Review 85:The front desk helped me use Windows on Eastland's pc. I'm a macuser. I was able to print out some useful grad school info 4 our son, asenior at u of IL-Champaign. I was thrilled. Also, the parrot wasbeautiful and the pool so inviting.
Review 86:Room had a smoke odor and my clothes had that smell when I checked out.I asked for a non-smoking room. My room was right under a room that wasextremely loud! Need to update television with hd tv. Most channels werenot clear. Last but not least, $209 per night is not a good deal!
Review 87:Overall, the room accomodations were ok. Bed was comfortable and I likedthe fact that it had a kitchen.
Review 88:The room was extremely cold and neither of the two thermostats wereable to be turned down. I ended up stuffing towels over theradiators. I heard someone else while I was checking on complainingof the same issue.
Review 89:The suite was nice to have a separate room for tv and lounging and adesperate bedroom.
Review 90:Needed to change rooms because the first room REEKED of air freshener and was intolerable, and was on the first floor with the only window being a screen door than opened onto a street. Hallways dirty
Review 91:Workout area was kind of a mess, however, they were renovating in the pool area, so that contributed. Also, access to the pool area thru workout area is a bad idea. Many young children came thru and played with everything, that could be very dangerous and it was extremely annoying.
Review 92:Staff were very nice and on task. Convenient and budget friendly.
Review 93:Ore room (#244) was a long way fron the lobby. At least a 10 minute walk as we had no car.
Review 94:Good continental breakfast
Review 95:Little dated and tub did not drain so had to stand in water while showering
Review 96:Liked everything about this hotel. Would highly recommend it.
Review 97:I love staying here, the price is right and the staff are very nice!
Review 98:An old tv, needs flat screen for the better channels.
Review 99:Nice clean room, quiet, good outside lighting.drink voucher, breakfast buffet
Review 100:Very tired facility
Review 101:Bar closed to early. No whirlpool
Review 102:Location. Shuttle service. Staff

Review 105:High turnover, a bit noisy. Not walking-friendly.
Review 106:Good buffet breakfast. Nice rooms.
Review 107:Pool was great. Comfortable for what we needed. Location to U of I was great.
Review 108:Bathtub tiles needs to be regrouted.
Review 109:Nice large, clean pool. Beds were very comfortable. Staff was friendly.
Review 110:One of the heating units wasn't working very well.
Review 111:no hot tub
Review 112:all of it
