Reviews for DoubleTree by Hilton Golf Resort Palm Springs

Review 1:The hotel is undergoing renovation and is a bit messy. The real problem was we wanted a handicapped accessible room. They put my aunt on the 4th floor regular room a long way from the lobby. I complained that it was not a handicapped room and they said none were ready. BUT THAT WAS NOT EXPLAINED WHEN WE BOOKED. They moved her to a ground floor room that did have a handicap shower but STILL no bars by the toilet. Also this was still a long walk from the lobby. I complained again and they brought a hospital style seat for the toilet but still no grab bars. The staff was nice bit not at all proactive as a hotel with luxury aspirations should be. Basically a luxury hotel under renovation with service like a $40/night motel.

Review 2:Location was good to visit family

Review 3:While the ducks in the front pond are quaint, they tend to leave their excrement on the sidewalk/path leading to the hotel. Imaging dragging that with your shoes into your room and walking around later in your bare feet. Especially when you get back to your room late at night when the pathways are dark. Not a pleasant thought.

Review 4:New remodeled rooms are very nice! It's about time for the remodel, the hotel was looking worn and dated.

Review 5:I did not like the fact the web site was completely misleading from the pictures had to change rooms, no view, was charged 10 bucks extra for a room with a pool view. the place was empty/ bar was closed, restaurant was closed, towels stunk, hair in the bathroom. old tv

Review 6:Checking Out

Review 7:My refrigerator did not work well. I had to dumped water out of a try that was under the freezer. The water I put in the refrig never got cold. I even put one in the freezer and it never got cold. No micro wave oven in the room.

Review 8:Rooms and hallways had a bad odor as if it was all a former smoker lounge. Towels were thin and dirty. Sheets were literally sheets for the covers. Nothing updated.... Dirty pool towels were all over the pool area. Just gross. Only positive is staff is nice. Scarce but nice.

Review 9:I guess you get what you paid for. Last available hotel for the weekend.

Review 10:. Rooms need updating starting with the tv/shower head/carpeting. There was a big burn hole in carpet. Bedding was fraying. I worked for 15 years in Las Vegas at Resorts and this place needs alot of TLC. Need more pillows on the beds and one more wastebasket in the room. Decorate your lobby with a large floral centerpiece. This is your first impression when you walk in. It is so bare and cold. Need some colorful flowers or vases. Anythingt o give color:)

Review 11:The location was perfect pool was beautiful along with the view. Need way more towels and way more lounge chairs. People were laying on the concrete.

Review 12:I never write reviews but on this occasion I am taking the time so that other travelers do not expect what I expected. The hotel cost was fairly low. The pictures looked amazing and I was super excited to have a Saturday night away and wake up to a relaxing environment with somewhat nice views. I also took my dog because the hotel said it was pet friendly. Before I was able to book the hotel, questionably high resort fees were added on top of a low cost hotel. I still booked it because I loved the pictures of the pool and views. When I got there, my room overlooked the hotel roof, the dog fees where 3/4 of a days stay at the hotel which is higher then most 5 star hotels I stayed at and the pool is much smaller and less glamorous than any of the pictures on their website or booking.com's website. My one day stay at this hotel was as expensive if not more, than a stay in Palm Springs at a 5 star hotel. I was utterly disappointed and will never stay there again.

Review 13:There is not much I liked about the hotel. The images did not match reality.

Review 14:I did not like the room. the carpet was dirty. the rooms are super simple. It wasnt work $221 per night.

Review 15:only thing it was ok it was the wifi but not in all areas.

Review 16:We stayed 2 nights.... The 1st night we were woken up by a strong smell of cigarettes. Wasn't coming from the outside because our patio door was closed and you could smell it in the bathroom too. So, it had to have been coming from the vents (we had the A/C on). I have allergies to the smell and it effected me the rest of the day :(. As for the room, it had 2 small thin pillows for a king size bed.

Review 17:Beautiful views. Golf course was amazing. Friendly people. Convenient location... close to Starbucks, grocery store, and the freeway.

Review 18:No shuttle service offered to Coachella.

Review 19:The views from the pool view rooms were amazing. It's the best value for your money Coachella weekend. Hotel is an easy 25 minute drive to Coachella. There is a shopping center across the street from the hotel that includes a CVS, grocery store, starbucks, etc. Great pool, frozen drinks and friendly staff. Rooms are a bit outdated, but that's mainly because of the television but who plans on sitting in their room all day?

Review 20:I didn't line the staff no the Cleaniess of the janitors

Review 21:The space and the hotel it self although it isn't the cleanest I think if the staff was friendly at all times and not rude it would bring many back sooner than later

Review 22:Filthy rooms. The property has deferred maintenance issues. Staff is not friendly, they didn't seem happy to be there, no one smiled or greet us professionally. We were awoke at 8AM by the loud noise of a tree cutting machine that one. of the maintenance guys was using to cop a palm tree right outside the pool area, when I went outside to ask him what was he doing, he answered Carlos sent me, then I asked who is Carlos, the guy says he is the chief of maintenance, then I said to him, Carlos is an idiot. he orders his guy to use these loud machine at eight in the morning without any consideration for the guests of the hotel. In conclusion, property is old and outdated, and poorly managed.

Review 23:The location next to the golf course and the mountain views

Review 24:The failed to tell is tennis courts were not owned by them and we had to go to the center to pay to use them. Once we knew that the staff at courts were great.

Review 25:Spa, location

Review 26:location was a little distance from Palm Springs and Palm Desert, but 20-25min driving time wasn't too bad.

Review 27:most inexpensive and truly felt like a resort property

Review 28:They said we could have a roll away bed because of fire Marshall. The place we stayed the night before was half the size and they had no problems giving us an extra bed

Review 29:The staff was helpful and I was able to change rooms after first being escorted to one with a view of a roof. However, the second room was a HC room.

Review 30:The hotel is looking tired. Paper cups provided for coffee and plastic cups in the bathroom. Environmentally unfriendly and very cheap.

Review 31:a good deal with facilities suitable for all ages. Staff are polite and helpful and attend to any problems immediately.

Review 32:Heard the new remodel will be hard edged and dark colors, not something I will want to visit.

Review 33:I love the warm colors and soft edges of the current hotel decor.

Review 34:The rooms did not have an in room "welcome book" of the hotel amenities, i.e., tennis courts, golf course, spa, etc. The staff at the front desk was not knowledgeable or provided any type of information/maps/recommendations for the casinos, and local restaurants. The In-house restaurant was not staffed adequately.

Review 35:The rooms were clean. Felt safe in the hotel.

Review 36:Outdated. Old tube TV, no microwave, noise air conditioner. Small fixes that would make a big impact.

Review 37:Nice size room, clean. Pool was great. Staff was good.

Review 38:It was not a bad experience, but the pool area needs to be updated, Ithas not changed in the 20 years we have been coming here. You have grassgrowing through the concrete, you have 2 1/2 umbrellas that are toosmall for any shade, and non movable. You need moveable large umbrellason north and west side of the pool. The entire south side you should putpermanent sail shades on that entire side of the pool. On the north westside going into the bathrooms areas, you have two areas for flowers, butno flowers. The filter and heaters are also in this area, along thewhite picket fence, need to be landscaped to cover this unsightly area,as this is the first thing you see on you way to the pool. On my lastday there you did cut down the dead palm tree, so you must have at sometime, traveled into the pool area.

Review 39:Room and bath size need upgraded bedding to match the large hotels inthe area. The main thing regarding the rooms are the tv'S. They havebeen in these rooms for more than 20 years, reception and viewing isvery poor, very poor. So poor if they are not upgraded I will not stayhere again, unless I have room to bring my own. You also advertise thisas a golf resort, but no not offer the golf channel on your cablesystem!!!!

Review 40:I paid for lake view and I have booked A month in advance , when I checked in receptionist said all view rooms sold out. Really it was bad experience for this place.

Review 41:Nothing

Review 42:We were unable to use the pool, though it was by no fault of the resort. We were just too busy with other distractions. Next time!

Review 43:The resort is lovely and the location was perfect as we spent most of our time actually in Palm Springs. Their breakfast buffet was nice, quiet, and had great coffee.

Review 44:We did not have any WiFi, was charged a resort fee and did not take advantage, but there were no parking fees, so it washes.

Review 45:Location was great, easy access off the freeway. Facilities and grounds looked nice, but did not have a chance to take advantage of.

Review 46:One of the two jacuzzis were cold, they were very short staffed, the pool bar was rarely open, and the rooms need to be updated. ( carpet, tv, beds)

Review 47:Had a great massage at the spa

Review 48:Limited menu in restaurant. Bed ok but not the best with linens sometimes too small and not well fitted for king bed. I had read this complaint in other reviews which put up some red flags but which turned out to be minor imperfection.

Review 49:Good sized basic room with large bathroom with double sinks. Layout of property convenient. Friendly staff. View of golf course and pool was beautiful. Nice pool.

Review 50:We noticed some places downstairs that could have used some minor repairs. Also the television was outdated and had a small selection of stations.

Review 51:Our room was clean with no musty smells, which is at the top of our list for accommodations away from home. The views of the golf course were beautiful and the grounds were well maintained. We were close, but still isolated from the downtown hustle.

Review 52:We were quoted a price and on check out the last day was more expensive and was told it was because the hotel was full that night.

Review 53:It was quite and the golf course was great

Review 54:Very understaffed. No restaurant/room service &/or bar open during our stay. No shuttle to and from hotel.

Review 55:I loved on location spa & golf course! The grounds were beautiful & the pool was relaxing.

Review 56:stained rugs, curtains, out-dated, linen and towels were old, resort fee for sub-par rooms, no breakfast included, have stayed at much nicer motels

Review 57:the pool, the lobby, the grounds

Review 58:The shower did not work and we had to hand wash with a wash cloth. However, we were credited the resort fee when we checked out.

Review 59:Theoom was large, clean. The view of the golf course was beautiful.

Review 60:rooms were old, one room a shed blocked the balcony and was covered in goose droppings, state of the art gym is a joke, poor broken equipment, restaurants were rarely open Fridge is in the bathroom, beds were old with wrong size sheets, tv is old. Very dated for a golf resort.

Review 61:pool, grounds

Review 62:My friend who is good in biking did not sleep on the bed because although it said on the website that the bed was good for 4 people. the bed actually was too small to fit two people and so my friend decided to sleep on the floor. We requested a bed but the staff said that it was a fire hazard.

Review 63:Well what I liked was the free breakfast, even though there was none. I also liked the pool even though I didn't use it.

Review 64:The hotel is very dated and the rooms need to be updated. At a minimum I would remove the popcorn ceilings and add flat screen TV's.

Review 65:The location, the friendly staff, free WiFi, and free parking.

Review 66:This is an aging resort in desperate need of upgrade, which apparently is due to begin in June. An ancient, small TV in the room was unwatchable. Room was minimally serviced each day. A disappointing stay.

Review 67:Staff were pleasant and welcoming, and made every attempt to address our concerns.

Review 68:The location is very dated. The TV did not work, the service from the staff was less than a number hotel. High priced, due to the area, but really left disappointed with my stay.

Review 69:The room, towels, curtains & bed were in much need of updating. Sheets didn't even stay on bed. The curtains were disgusting, stains all over.

Review 70:Loved the view, the grounds, the lobby and the staff. Very nice.

Review 71:Placed reservation for room with king bed, noted aprox arrival time of 9 p.m./to 9;30 p.m When we arrived, within 10 mins of estimate, We were told (very matter factly ) at the check in desk, that our room had been given away, they did not have the room with King bed and that we would have a room with 2 fulls. They had agreed, prior to our arrival, to take the resort tax (19.00) off our bill and give us comp breakfast buffet tickets. The room was very dirty, large, sticky stains on the carpet, Bathroom was old, moldy, shower barely spit out water..... The grounds were nice and I will say the breakfast buffet was good. We are not normally complainers, my husband travels for work and some of the out of way places he goes, he stays in the Motel 6 chain....For the money, this "resort" was way beneath the Motel 6....If we had, had to stay more than 1 night, I would have not stayed..... The room in your photo was no where close to the actual product. Thank you... Connie Keast

Review 72:One night TV reception dropped a few times for a minute or so. Was told by front desk it was wiring connection problem. Older tube tv not a big deal for us but some may dislike this.

Review 73:Nicely located between Palm Springs, casinos, Palm Desert street fair, Indian Wells spa and spacious, clean room. Friendly staff. Free wi-if worked fine.

Review 74:The only thing I would change, and its minimal, is the thin walls. You could hear every time someone nearby entered or exited their room and slammed the door.

Review 75:We stayed for two nights while my husband ran in the palm springs half marathon. Great price considering other hotels closer to the run were ridiculously overpriced. Staff was friendly & helpful, room was clean, balcony is great and the property was quiet. Would stay there again next year

Review 76:The hotel was the dirtiest place we have ever been to, completely outdated, carpets with stains all over and the beds were very uncomfortable. The pictures on their website are completely deceiving

Review 77:Outdated environment throughout the hotel. Had to pay a resort fee, but the hotel didn't feel like a resort. Noisy when the very heavy hotel room doors closed. No complimentary breakfast.

Review 78:Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was great! Easy access to the Casinos and a grocery store right across the street. The shower had great water pressure and liked the double sinks in the bathroom. Previous reviews were right on regarding the resort status. The grounds are lovely.

Review 79:Old TV's Poor Reception. Old carpet, etc. Hotel is just "tired" and needs updating. Were told that it will be updated this year.

Review 80:View, Location.

Review 81:The bed was very uncomfortable, and the pillows were literally pieces of foam in a pillowcase. Also, our air conditioner blew out cool air, but never got cold... Good thing it was winter!

Review 82:The location was great- right by gas stations and stores. Grounds were very nicely kept. View was beautiful, and the bathroom was huge.

Review 83:The staff werent friendly at all, the bar tender was very cold and sarcastic, the person at the reception was not helpful or accomodating at all, we were made to wait for 45 mins despite an early online reservation. At breakfast there was no one to take our order and we had to wait for 20 mins and physically go inside the kitchen to get someone who ended being helpful. Wifi quite slow. The tv is the oldest tv one could ever find and the view from the king rooms were very mediocre.

Review 84:The location is very beautiful and clean and the pools are heated perfectly. The fitness facility was also very nice. The food served for breakfast was very tasty.

Review 85:very old TV and hard pillows and only one pillow per person.

Review 86:Location and overall presentation of property.as well as size of room and it had a balcony

Review 87:Wi fi was slow they should upgrade that for sure.

Review 88:When I checked in they had us on second floor but the nice lady at front desk saw we had our grand daughter with us and checked and gave us a 1st floor room so very nice. Was a great visit to the desert to see our children and grand children. The views were also very nice and pool heated perfectly. Highly recommend.

Review 89:Our room needed updating - carpets had stains, TV was old style tube TV with no HD, towels were supposed to be white, but were a dingy gray, only one small soap was provided, fitted sheets on the bed did not stay put in the corners, bathroom was not updated with fan or ventilation. The maintenance (or improvement) budget seems to be primarily for the exterior of this property and the restaurant and common areas, which were beautiful, but the interior of our room was badly in need of changes and update. Probably will not stay here again.

Review 90:Location was good, initial impression of the grounds and lobby/restaurant areas were very impressive.

Review 91:The rooms were outdated. The shower had very little pressure and the faucet was coming out of the wall. The TV was an old tube TV. There were stains and holes in the carpet in the room.

Review 92:The location was good. The golf course views were outstanding.

Review 93:On this trip, although we thought we had booked a "mountain view" room, we had a first floor view of a "wall." There were no other rooms available, or so we were told. I also asked for a roll-away bed on both nights. I was told there were none left on the first day. And even thought I had put in a request the previous day (for the second night) no special effort was made to get us a roll-away bed for the second night either. Also this room over all was incredibly stripped down in its appearance (it seemed like the kind of room that was only rented out in emergencies! It had none of the qualities the room had during our previous stay. The shower and shower-head in the bathroom were incredibly disappointing -- there was very little water pressure.

Review 94:we've stayed at this hotel before. I previous trip was much better. For slightly less money we had a room on the third floor with a sensational view. The room itself was very nice.

Review 95:There was no duvet on the bed. When I went down to the front desk to ask for one the woman at the desk told me they no longer put them on the beds. When I asked if we could have a blanket she told me they ran out. We were put up above a rooftop, the hotel is run down and filthy, the ice machines don't work and worst of all their wifi is basically nonexistent. So at 10:30 at night when we checked in we were trapped and had no where else to o. It took us 2.5 hours using our iPhones to try to book another. room. We left first thing in the morning. The worst hotel experience I have ever had in my life. We left as soon as we got up. We couldn't get out of there any faster. The There was hardly any staff for such a large hotel. The night desk man was having the security guard do the job of a bellman. He told me "I only come in at night, do my job and leave in the morning" Horrible... Run, do not walk away from this hotel

Review 96:Advertised as a resort, but...No Valet; No Bell Man; Only 2 (very bad)pillows on King Bed; No comforter (only extremely thin very old blanketsandwiched between 2 very old, frayed top sheets; soiled furniture andcarpet; very scratchy "Motel 6" grade towels. This is not aresort. It is a low end motel in a 4 story building on nice grounds

Review 97:Key card access not always responsive from exterior entryways.

Review 98:Great balcony view of golf course and mountain, large swimming pool, good location near freeway, free parking, relaxing environment, free coffee and pastries in lobby for breakfast, no crowd.

Review 99:Location is in Cathedral City, and a 20-minute drive, at least, from the amenities of downtown Palm Springs, Palm Desert, or Rancho Mirage. The hotel decor and infrastructure, once grand, is now faded.

Review 100:Grounds, golf course, and pool area are beautiful. Staff are very accommodating. Pricing is low and comparable to mid-range chain hotels.

Review 101:The rooms are in major need of updating! Looks from the outside were defiantly deceiving.

Review 102:The grounds were beautifully kept. The staff was both friendly, and helpful.

Review 103:I did not like I could not get any dinnerdining areas were closed holiday weekend early so far the pool bar was closed on the actual holiday it was ridiculous

Review 104:l

Review 105:The beds are terrible! I've stayed at this place many times over the last 10 years or so, but this summer I was there two different times, in different rooms and I could hardly sleep from being so uncomfortable. Also, there are not enough umbrellas at the pool, especially for it being summer and very hot. I believe they are going to be doing some work to upgrade the place, hopefully it's sooner than later.

Review 106:The pool is clean and plenty big for the amount of people there. Everything was relatively clean, and the staff was helpful. It's in a pretty central location, so you can get anywhere w/o much trouble.

Review 107:This Hotel needs some upgrades. Rooms are not clean, spiders in bathroom, pool was messy, did not see staff to keep pool clean. Other guests smoking in jacuzzi and pool area. Dirty carpet. This Hotel needs attention seems like it's getting out of control.

Review 108:Convenient and centrical

Review 109:The only thing was that this busy labor day weekend pool towels were hard to come by...

Review 110:Great reception staff member helping us get rooms that worked best for our two-room group (should have written down her name!). The View is stunning, get a room facing the mountains! The pool is nice and big. The rooms were quiet (maybe the occasional slamming door from other rooms, why do people do that???!!!??)

Review 111:I couldn't get a WiFi connection in my room and was unable to post real time pictures of your beautiful resort,,,, :(

Review 112:Staff very nice and extremely helpful. They seemed like they enjoyed working there.

Review 113:The tub/shower hot and cold knob was about to fall off. We could not get much water pressure either. Everything else was nice.

Review 114:After checking in, we went to our room. Sadly, this room did not have a view of the mountains or pool as was described when booking the room. We went back to the check-in desk where Megan pleasantly helped us get a room with a view as our reservation had indicated. She did explain to us that we actually did not pay for a view room; that the description on Booking.com was inaccurate but she gave us the upgraded room at no extra cost. We appreciate her doing this for us. Also Ruberto was very cordial to show us to our room. The staff made our stay very pleasant.

Review 115:No in-hotel restaurant or bar the day we arrived, opened the next evening with a limited menu. This was probably due to it being in the Palm Springs 'low' season. Also breakfast was served in a separate location next door (Leons).

Review 116:Location View Swimming Pool Golf Course

Review 117:TV was old And the selection was basic channels the outside furniture on the patio was dirty the room was comfortable and big

Review 118:Great golf course and pool

Review 119:I like the view from the balcony.

Review 120:The room was not clean, the rugs were dirty, even the elevator was dirty!

Review 121:uncomfortable beds

Review 122:Great value

Review 123:Under refurbishment so no restauration service

Review 124:Spacious room, view, pool

Review 125:The weather was too hot!

Review 126:Huge pool. Great for swimming.

Review 127:Everything

Review 128:Bed was not comfortable

Review 129:Every thing!!!!

Review 130:Lack of staff/hostess at restaurants.

Review 131:Pet friendly!

Review 132:Beautiful grounds

Review 133:The TV was maybe one year newer than rabbit ears!!!!!

Review 134:The Golf course was good.

Review 135:bathroom fixtures

Review 136:nothing in particular - short visit
