Reviews for Rayavadee

Review 1:Noting really just the gym could be updated but still very good

Review 2:Loved everything about this hotel the best we have ever stayed in staff are all superb friendly rooms beautiful breakfast was the best ever amazing choice we really loved everything about this hotel we have young twins and they were soo well looked after thank u against booking .com never lets us down !!

Review 3:The lack of healthy food choices. Would be great if they had a small selection or raw vegan food and green juices. The bed is a bit croaky when getting in and out of it

Review 4:The nature surrounding this property makes it breathtakingly spectacular! Great place to base yourself to go island hoping. Our room was great double story circular hut. Lovely and Cosy the feeling of being part of nature.

Review 5:We had barbecue dinner at El Grotto and the food was poor comparing with the price. The place is amazing but he food not on same level. The boats noise at The Umbrella Tree just in front of Phrang Beach bothers a bit.

Review 6:The resort is a must in Krabi. From arrival till departure everything is well prepared and organize for you to enjoy and relax you just need to let the staff know your neededs and they will tak care of everything, even the small details. The Christmas dinner was amazing, we felt like home. The enviromment and beaches are stunning.

Review 7:Insufficient water pressure in the shower.

Review 8:The facility, the grounds, the food (and service ) - all superb. But above all - the people who staff the resort - beyond words! The absolute peak of affability and service. This is a place where physical Nature and human nature combine to form a harmonious Beauty.

Review 9:Mosquitoes, mosquitoes, mosquitoes! However, the hotel tries it's best to help..

Review 10:Everything was perfect! The Rayavadee staff are amazing. One night i didn't fell well and they've sent a nurse at 01:00 to come check on me. Everything was amazing!

Review 11:Amazing staff, unique location in the tropical jungle, incredible beach, service that is beyond superb yet very unobtrusive. It rained for two days but we still loved it. Best mojito in Thailand. Excellent food. Attention to detail beyond most luxury hotels. Very unique and very Thai experience. Wide choice of hikes, tours and excursions, incredible spa. Everything flows smoothly. High prices but worth it! Great Thai massage for much less money at a resort next door on Railay beach.

Review 12:Crazy overpriced . Confusing ground layout .. Bitten to death bymosquitos and no nets in rooms . Soon expensive ... Not worth it ...Loud music from club next door till 1 am every day

Review 13:Next to iconic beaches . Good quality food. Great staff

Review 14:Two things: we couldn't find authentic food on the Island, and the resort's own 'authentic' Thai restaurant served very Westernised versions of Thai food which was underwhelming. On our second visit to the same restaurant, we asked the restaurants to make it authentic and although it was a bit better, it was still very Westernised. It would be nice if the restaurant reflects on this and perhaps provide an option for future customers to choose. The resort's gym and gym facilities are in desperate need of refurbishment, the work out equipment is very old and dated.

Review 15:The staff were very experienced and probably had the best English of any of the resort we stayed at. They also knew the resort very well and were always happy to assist. The resort is in prime location, and despite the resort being of considerable age (>20 years), the constant refurbishment efforts meant it was still easily the best resort on the Island.

Review 16:except for the mosquitoes

Review 17:5 stars treatment from the moment we stepped into the resort till we departed. A team of very professional, friendly and dedicated staff.

Review 18:the food wa good noy more than that you should really take the suite with the private pool. dont waste your money on a balcany suite.

Review 19:we liked it alot. the staff was amazing and helpfull.

Review 20:Airport transfer is quite expensive.

Review 21:Wow, beautiful resort. Everything is well organised. The three beaches. Prompt services. The vegetation within the resort.

Review 22:There is something wrong with the Management. Although We pay very high cost for being in this hotel , but there is really big problem from the stuff!!! They smile but lack of ability !

Review 23:Hotel is the best location in Railay Beach . Very nice rooms , and environment. Full of peace . Great Pool and beach ......

Review 24:The location is superb, the staff are genuinely nice, the flight is convenient from Singapore, there's few activities that you can enjoy in and out of the island, accessible to other beautiful islands, the food is great and service is good. The perfect place to hideaway, relax and have fun!

Review 25:The location was superb and the setting fantastic. The restaurants offered good food and the wine lists were reasonable and reasonable value for money. The bungalow was well fitted out and all the amenities worked well. The pool was great and we can recommend the Rayavadee Signature massage at the Spa. If you visit you must take a boat trip out to Hong Island and do the Elephant walk. The extra effort made for a birthday was wonderful, complete with hand made decorations and balloons .. very cute. The staff were welcoming and attentive without being in your face. The rooms were old but well maintained and the pool was in a spectacular location. Add to that manicured grounds, efficient transfers and trees full of monkeys and it was a great but short stay.

Review 26:At the time of our visit the restaurant near the pool was under renovation so meal options were limited. The service in the Thai restaurant was poor. Not good value for money (other restaurants were excellent).

Review 27:The staff are the best I have ever experienced. everyone from the pool boy to the management were genuine and go above and beyond expectations. Rooms are exceptionally well designed with lovely creature comforts included. I loved the free bottled water everywhere including the pool. Such a small thing but in a hot climate with non drinkable tap water its a nice touch. Loved the view from the pool

Review 28:Mosquitoes which I know could not be helped.

Review 29:Location of the resort. Size of each villa. Pool area. Privacy & how it was guarded. I was extremely grateful for the fact that mosquito repellents were provided everywhere at the resort!! That was absolutely fantastic!

Review 30:Just arriving by speedboat to a hotel is a bit surreal - not often you get to do that. Then you get taken through the grounds which is like walking through a jungle with many varieties of plants and birds - and occasionally a troupe of monkeys. The properties you stay in are just great - very colonial style and luxurious. There are three beaches but only two you would use. But really beautiful. I have to say the staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. To be honest probably the best resort we have ever stayed in.

Review 31:Restaurants outside of the resort were of poor quality but we had become accustomed to the high quality of food and service at the resort!

Review 32:The resort was spectacular. The staff were unbelievably attentive yet unobtrusive. They arranged fantastic excursions. The food and selection of restaurants was amazing. Awesome buffet breakfast. Scenery in the area is breathtaking.

Review 33:Overpriced excursions which is probably in keeping with a 5 star resort.

Review 34:Wanted to stay here 18 years ago but could only afford a backpacker place. Now finally get to stay here and couldn't fault it. Wonderful friendly courteous staff. Great position on the both beaches and large pool area. Good price for low season. Good security.

Review 35:The "Grotto" restaurant in hotel area. We got a terrible food poisoning there.

Review 36:The surroundings in the hotel were amazing, everything is kept neat and clean. The swimming pool was amazing.

Review 37:They charged us the amount when we just arrived to the hotel and I didn't like it. The breakfast is too simple for such a luxurious hotel. The wine menu is too expensive and the references are not appropiate. 550 BHT (around 15 euros!!!) for a cup of wine...

Review 38:All Rayavadee is incredible. The location, the service, the villas, the restaurants, the spa,... I think it is the best hotel we have ever been to.

Review 39:Older kids were extra in terms of fees (breakfast, room charges) . Rates should include families of 4 with children under 18...

Review 40:Hospitality, location, accommodations and ammenities

Review 41:Quite a few mosquitoes but nothing extreme F&B are on the pricey side

Review 42:The location is absolutely stunning with the limestone cliffs and beautiful beaches. The grounds are like a crossover between a plantation and jungle, with colonial "hobbit-house" pavillions sprinkled around and the infinity swimming pool is set amidst beautiful scenery. All resort restaurants are nice, but we loved the Grotto restaurant most, very romantic. The resort staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful. Big thanks!

Review 43:The private transfer cost seems to be just for airport to pier. Probably shouldn't be any transfer cost. Untidy around the outside of the resort

Review 44:The staff, the beaches, and the pavilions

Review 45:The daily activities are expensive but still there are some complimentary ones. I wish I had stayed longer to do even more.

Review 46:Everything. Our stay was perfect from the beginning to the end. Great facilities, great staff, great pool, great beaches, great food, great spa. Lovely.

Review 47:My lobster sandwich from room service had hardly any lobster. Everything else was great!

Review 48:We are constant travelers and usually only stay at 5 star hotels. It would be easy to give this hotel 5 stars on location and property alone but the service, accommodation and attention to detailed earned every star.

Review 49:That we had to leave...

Review 50:The resort is quite big and there's a buggy service for transport. I liked the promptness of the buggy service after requesting for one.

Review 51:Fantastic pool !!! Much bigger that I thought. Great service. It is a relaxed place with wonderful caring staff. Other reviews complain about the price of the food, but it is very good quality!!

Review 52:The villas were beautiful but could have been much cleaner thanthey were!

Review 53:If we ever make it back to Thailand we would stay at this resort and notleave.. It's so amazingly beautiful. Everyone is so nice and helpfulthe price of the resort is a little steep but worth every penny!Breakfast was wonderful And every morning walking to breakfast we raninto a group of very entertaining monkeys.. We were in heaven here anddidn't want to leave..

Review 54:Great accommodation with private pool set within a lush resort. Amazing pool & most incredible sunset view. Very friendly & professional staff.

Review 55:Best resort I have ever been. We went for our honeymoon and loved every minute. The place was gorgeous, clean and there was so much attention to detail. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. Food was also great.

Review 56:Coming by ferry from Ko Lanta we did not arrive at the Krabi main pier so the hotel said it is not possible to pick us up there because the hotel's speed boat cannot stop there. It would be nice if the hotel could offer any alternative for transport like a mini bus. We had to organize the transfer ourself (which was quite annoying so we did not arrive in the best mood at the hotel). Also when asking for a transport back to Phuket Airport the only thing they could offer was a private transfer for about 200€ per person! Only because of staying in a 5 star hotel I do not like paying 4 times the normal price! Finally we arranged our transport again on our own with a very nice girl in the tourist office at Railay Beach.

Review 57:The hotel setting is simply amazing, great landscape and garden surroundings. We loved to walk in the resort, seeing all the wonderful plants, flowers, ponds.... Nothing to complain about in this resort, nice decor everywhere, great pool, great breakfast and great house cocktails in the Grotto Bar with great live music that we enjoyed while watching the sun going down. And if you are looking for a 'normal priced' fruit shake, pancake or any other simple food, a supermarket and a few little shops, you can just walk along the beach for 3 minutes (access from the pool) to find it.

Review 58:Nothing to say..

Review 59:Everything, the room, a big bed, the beach, food. From the moment we arrived until we left the staff was amazing.. we love the staying..

Review 60:- It rained one day, I wish they could fix that :)

Review 61:- The rooms were huge! - Greenery everywhere - 2 beautiful beaches - Nice tours/activities - Excellent fairly priced restaurants - Monkeys!

Review 62:The hotel needs a seperate pool for kids/young families. For couples who came for utter serinity, peace and quiet, calming sunset - you won't get this by the swimming pool which looks over the main fabulous beach area (and sunset view). Also, unless you fly to Krabi the journey is epic, we came from Phuket, then Phi Phi and thought the hotel would offer some boat pick ups (as you can only access by boat) ...but they quoted £400 for a half our speedboat pick up with is a bit rediculous when many others would need to travel from other islands...so the only option was a Ferry with backpackers, then taxi, then another boat ...

Review 63:The rooms are beautiful and set in amongst jungle environment. The welcome off the boat was second to none. Love every minute.

Review 64:Aircon in bedroom did not work properly on our first night, forcing me to sleep on the sofa in the living room. This caused a major disappointment and inconvenience although the problem was resolved by the second night. Aircon is something that must work perfectly at a hotel in this price category.

Review 65:Location, room facilities, hotel facilities, breakfast.

Review 66:None of the 3 beaches is private !..

Review 67:Location / luxe and high quality of services. Beauty of the resort and pavilion . This is a place like nowhere else !

Review 68:I can understand paying 5 star hotel prices for international dishes, but I didn't like paying very high prices for Thai food (in Thailand) when you can get Thai food that's just as good for a fraction of the price just a few minutes walk away. Maybe offer some more reasonably priced Thai dishes.

Review 69:this hotel has some stunning real estate, with large grounds connected to three beaches even though the hotel was full, it doesn't feel crowded at all - there's so much space here the grounds are lush and green, and full of wildlife

Review 70:Rooms must be redecorated ! Wi - fi - the worst in all our jurney in Thailand , shower pressure - you can't make a proper shower ! Gym - 20 years old equipments ! Poor breakfast !

Review 71:Landscape and staff !

Review 72:Absolutely nothing. But I will take this chance to give response to the negative aspects of other reviews, that I can't understand at all: "Overpriced, bad food, resort rundown" Sure, the prices are high, but in my opinion you get best quality. Food and drink quality is very good and everything else, too. Especially the service is perfect. I can't understand how someone can say you get better quality to half the price outside the resort. So if people are complaining of the prices maybe they are not in the target group of the hotel and should go to a hostel. Also the resort is in an excellent state and very clean. A review describing rundown pool area and so on is just wrong. "The hotel makes you feel isolated" This is maybe right, but I don't think this has to do with money interests of the hotel. I think the reason for that is just that outside the resort there is nothing nice to find except climbing to view point, going to the lagoon and kayaking around or see monkeys. The other opportunities outside to go for food or something else is very bad. So the tactic of the hotel to make the guests stay in the resort is just a advantage for the guests and recommend. There is no need to go out except for the things mentioned above. You have everything beautiful in the resort.

Review 73:As mentioned in the other reviews this is one of the best hotels in Thailand or maybe in the world. The service is excellent and the surrounding of jungle and monkeys awesome. There are a lot of details that makes this hotel fantastic. Also it seems that staff is really working with heart and happiness. This is additionally a point that's makes you feel very comfortable.

Review 74:We spent 7 days over Christmas at the resort and wish that we were there another week! We loved the resort. Very beautiful location that can only be reached by speadboat, and tractor, if the tide is low. The service was excellent and the food as well. We have travelled extensively throughout Asia and this is one of the best resort we have stayed at. The villa was amazing and most of all, we were looked after by a team of super friendly staff, specialy James, who looked after us the length of our stay. Highly recommend!

Review 75:Perfect hotel, with a perfectly trained staff and really comfortable suites. Adding to that, it's located in a perfect beach. My best stay in Thailand.

Review 76:The beach got pretty crowded with other people arriving in boats daily..

Review 77:Friendly staff, privacy around villa, AWSUME flora and fauna, seeing the monkeys in the wild, the resort facilities available to only the residents and not day trippers!

Review 78:Do not eat in their restaurants, are too expensive and the quality they give can be found in any of the restaurants out of the hotel for half the price.

Review 79:Rooms, common areas, pool, location, stuff.... Everything is perfect.

Review 80:BEWARE OF THIS LOCATION. This is a public beach. There are tons of super loud engines from the long boats, tons of tourists from all over the place getting off day boat trips, really HORRIBLE. This could be paradise if a private beach but there are TOO MANY PEOPLE. Really horrible.

Review 81:Jungle like setting had monkeys, water monitor lizard, butterflies. Hotel really tries to provide exceptional service and there are some really nice touches - drink and flowers, at check in, etc.

Review 82:Pool area is rundown: There is next to no staff at the pool and you have to go to try to find them if you want a drink or anything to eat. On check in I was also told to ask the pool staff to reserve me a chair if I would like a particular spot. I tried this the next day and they refused to hold it for more than 30mins. A 200 baht bribe changed this to 1hr hour but no more because the were 'too busy'... Strangely the pool area was only 1/3 full for the day. Beach bar / restaurant: Staff are too busy talking to serve is or get our bill. Both times we went there we had to wait 5mins and then get up to speak to them. This is not normal in Thailand. Thai restaurant: The overcooked the lamb in a massaman curry to the point where it was stoo chewy. How is this possible in Thailand. The one's ive had in Australia were a 1/3 if the price and sooo much better. Overall condition of the place: The 'jungle' feel is an excuse for letting the place get overgrown and run down. Its nothing like those amazing photos. Well done to the photographer! We checked out 3 days early and went to stay at the Ritz Carlton in Phulay Bay. Check this place out its the best hotel we've ever stayed in and we travel the wotld 5 star for 3-4 months of every year.

Review 83:The service was great so the thank god for the staff.... They were especially good in the activities area

Review 84:nothing - we loved it everything about this magical place.

Review 85:The incredible attention to detail The service The staff The location The layout of the resort This place is incredibly beautiful, well maintained and so relaxing.

Review 86:1. The breakfast: Lacking choice & Orange juice wasn't fresh!

Review 87:From beggining to end, the feeling of staying in a Tropical Paradise never left our minds. Job well done Rayavadee !!! The following is a list if things I really liked about the hotel:- 1. The Pavillion 2. The amenities 3. The location 4. The Swimming pool 5. The beach 6. The sustainability approach 7. The Garden & Tree's

Review 88:There's no lively bar or anything (if that's what you're looking for) but in the end we didn't mind either as we were both far too relaxed!

Review 89:It's the little things that make this place so amazing...like the staff knowing when you're not in the room so they don't disturb you when cleaning! We've never felt so relaxed! You can only access the place by boat but you're on two gorgeous beaches so it doesn't matter at all. The pool, restaurants and staff are all fantastic!

Review 90:Was double charged for my stay, which was promptly refunded to my credit card, but dealt with another fraudulent charge from the resort a few days later.

Review 91:Everything. The resort is sandwiched between arguably two of the world's most beautiful beaches. The pool area is amazing, and the attention to detail makes you feel like royalty.

Review 92:This hotel is isolated, and they make you feel as if you are isolated and that there is no access other than through them. This is actually not true and there are many lovely restaurants, bars and hotels to visit in walking distance. It is a beautiful setting however it is isolated and so you do not get to experience Krabi at all. Because you are isolated they charge exorbitant prices almost 10 times what we paid at other 5 star establishments. I did not feel like a guest, just another number. It is not my type of hotel, as I felt ripped off as did other guests we spoke to. Once again they are one of the most beautiful settings, but nothing more sadly.

Review 93:Setting beautiful. Rooms beautiful

Review 94:there is nothing to dislike about paradise

Review 95:we loved everything about this hotel! how the staff remembered our names and that it was our honeymoon, the champagne and orchid bath on arrival, the intricate attention to detail from the housekeeping replacing even the most miniscule of items you would forgive them for not noticing like a fresh orchid on the loo roll etc.... the whole place was sooo perfect that my husband exclaimed it was like a disney version of thailand where everything was perfect and wonderful! we loved how the pool overlooked railay beach so you could grab a lounger swim in the pool, then swim in the sea eat at another beachside resturant all the while your belongings are perfectly safe being perfectly looked after by the staff there. we loved how the grotto overlooked phra nang beach and how the hotel had loungers in a raised section of thier own beach overlooking the actual beach (in thailand loungers are not allowed on beaches and there is no such thing as a private beach in thailand) again this section of raised beach was patrolled by staff offering complimentary water, and checking everything was ok there was a security gaurd keeping unwanted visitors out and your belongings secure so you were free to explore. there was direct access to the actual beach also. from here you could hire snorkling equiptment, sea kayaks, windsurfing, katamarangs, all included in the price of your room, all immaculately maintained and very good quality equiptment too. this beach was the nicest though also therefore the busiest due to day trippers, which is why staying in rayavadee madebit soo much nicer! most of the crowds usually all left rather early, leaving the beach mainly to those at rayavadee!!there were more than enough loungers to go around and again the staff were always around should there be any want you had. once at the grotto i so much as looked at a fan, and it was instantly switched on and pointed in our direction. this is the quality of service on offer.

Review 96:Nothing. Although seemingly expensive, it's worth every penny.

Review 97:I'll keep it simple - Heaven on Earth. Every need and want met, simply beautiful. Every staff member always greeted us where ever we went and every staff member smiled

Review 98:Their international food restaurant (Grotto) was awful - that restaurant was the only weak point of this hotel.

Review 99:The location was fantastic - good value for money

Review 100:Very pricey by Thai standards and food at grotto was up to scratch... Certainly not for the money

Review 101:Facilities, grounds, location, attention to every detail and quality of all parts of the resort.

Review 102:Arriving at Rayavadee I felt like a princess. From the amazing welcome drink to the flowers and the seamless check in process. The suite had so many complimentary items like fruit, chocolate and biscuits. Small things but they made me feel extra special. Dinner at the grotto was incredible. Swimming in the caves was just amazing. Everything was perfect.

Review 103:Thr Grotto restaurant was busy with wedding for 3 days so there was no options for dinner except Thai food.

Review 104:The hotel, the beaches, the staff, the service. All wobderful.

Review 105:I have travelled to many places in the world but this was the worst for dining, food quality and restaurant service. Problem is that there isn't really anywhere else to go because you are trapped on this small island and there are no other restaurants. Staff were very poorly trained, food was awful, staff were clueless and all this was down to the complete lack of any management. Awful awful awful.

Review 106:Great accommodation and location .

Review 107:There is some trash in the water.

Review 108:Truly a paradise. Absolutely stunning. The attention to detail here is impressive. So happy we spent the money to stay here. It was a highlight of our 6 week trip through Asia.

Review 109:Excursions arranged are very expensive and it you book outside the resort, you will save over 60-70%. This is an FYI fact, we found it simpler and easier to book all day excursions through hotel.

Review 110:The resort has a world renowned reputation as one of Thailand best and I would agree with this. Exceptional facilities and impeccable service. This is a place for peace and tranquility - not somewhere you goto for an agenda of evening entertainment!

Review 111:Public beach, many guests from other hotels walked around. So we can simply stay at a cheaper hotel next to Rayavadee and walk into Rayavadee and experience its facilities and surroundings, no need to pay such high price but feeling no privacy and no priority at all. Many choices of the breakfast are made to order, but during breakfast rush hour, it's very difficult to catch a staff to place the order. If they can just put most food on the tables and let guests to pick as they wish, it would be much more efficient.

Review 112:nice room, bed, pillow, service and view.

Review 113:Gorgeous location, great staff, and just overall awesome! We loved the cave restaurant and kayaking with the kayaks they provided! Definitely recommend it!

Review 114:The restaurants were good but we left the resort for meals.

Review 115:The villa was spectacular. The scenery was top-notch. The pool and umbrella tree terrace were highlights.

Review 116:Staff provide little information outside the resort, everything in resort is 3~5 times more expensive than outside, we book our private tour outside at much cheaper prices. We stayed at spa pavilion, but jacuzzi is not working, they should have someone check it before we move in. We switched to Terrence pavilion on 3rd and 4th nights, hotel staff asked us if we can move by 10am as another client was moving to our room, but I don't understand why they can make such a request to us.

Review 117:Resort in generally is excellent, pavilion is well designed and beds are very comfortable, very good swimming pool and beaches. Arrival and departure by private speedboats makes us feel pretty luxury, breakfast is excellent, also must visit the Gatto, the cave restaurant with stunning view. Definitely worth staying.

Review 118:Spacious rooms bungalow style, great breakfast. Enjoyed the wild monkeys roaming the property.

Review 119:Excellent service from staff. Beautiful resort in a natural setting. Access to 3 beaches. Great big pool. Dining in a cave.

Review 120:Overpriced, should be a free shuttle service to Ao Nang or Krabi town.

Review 121:the staff and the comfort of the pavilions and the very nice breakfast

Review 122:The food leaves much to be desired.

Review 123:Beautiful setting, absolute paradise

Review 124:We hated to leave!

Review 125:This place is worth the price tag. Gorgeous location, gracious staff, delicious food.

Review 126:Food is too expensive and not not so tasty. If they can improve it, it's much better than now

Review 127:The food at the Thai restaurant worst Thai food I had in Thailand

Review 128:The beautiful setting The sea excursions The pavilion with hydro pool The spa

Review 129:None

Review 130:Beautiful accommodation

Review 131:The resort is huge and it takes a while to walk from one place to another and directions are not clear at all...

Review 132:Staff, swimming pool and rooms

Review 133:Nothing

Review 134:Everything

Review 135:Having to leave!

Review 136:Everything! This hotel is heaven on earth. The staff, setting and food is superb!
