Reviews for Little Sur Inn

Review 1:The hotel is right across from the ocean and boardwalk so was perfect for an early morning walk. We only stayed for a night and arrived too late to take advantage of the sunset. The room was large and homely with hardwood floors. It had a table and chairs and an armchair situated near the fireplace. The beds were well made and comfortable. The bathroom was large, clean, and well-lit. We enjoyed the breakfast, it was all that was needed with some simple bagels, muffins, toast, fruit, yoghurt, coffee and pastries. Would stay here again.

Review 2:They've done away with the 4:00 "Social Hour", which was a nice time to have a snack (cheese/cracker etc.).

Review 3:Fantastic Location and Views. Located on Quiet road which separates the property from the Pacific and the Board-Walk along the bluff.

Review 4:Comfortable spacious room and spacious bathroom. The timber floors and gas fireplace are great- the fireplace made it cosy on a stormy day in winter. Complimentary breakfast was great.

Review 5:Only issue was we had no Cell phone signal with ATT. Hotel did have house phone which we were greatful for.

Review 6:View was amazing, Love beding. Room was just like pictures. We will book again.

Review 7:We only had a tiny view of the ocean if we stood up and looked out of the side window

Review 8:The check in process was easy. She answered all of our questions as well as made suggestions for dinner.

Review 9:Breakfast ia very limited and unhealthy. Coffee is bad.

Review 10:The hotel is close to the boardwalk, but far from the center and its restaurants. Fireplace is nice.

Review 11:Quiet, excellent location with clean and spacious rooms, nicely appointed and a nice continental breakfast with a lot of selections. The gas fireplace was really a great addition.

Review 12:It's beautiful because I can see the Pacific in the room. The sound insulation is perfect. I can't hear anything when I closed door and window.

Review 13:We had a downstairs room with no view. We did not stay much in the room, however, so that was not a big concern for us.

Review 14:Very nice facilities with a lovely location. The room was large and immaculate. The breakfast was adequate with a decent variety of items for the morning.

Review 15:Inconsiderate travelers! Not your fault! !!

Review 16:Property very clean. Staff very relaxed and extremely attentive..no rush or stress at all and we needed that!!! Thanks to entire staff.

Review 17:This is a very minor point, but arriving at night in the dark it was not easy to find the office to check in

Review 18:spacious, well appointed room. Wonderful seafront location.

Review 19:None

Review 20:Allows to park my RV at no additional charges; free wifi; tasty breakfast and very thoughtful to suggest an easily accessible room for my elderly parents..something that the other 3 five stars hotels I stayes along this trip failed to match

Review 21:We had requested a room on an upper floor with a view a month in advance and got a basement room with no view.

Review 22:Great location nice clean and roomy room.

Review 23:The view from the king 2nd floor was breathtaking. The bathroom was beautiful. The cleanliness of the room and bathroom was excellent the staff was very helpful and friendly. Will return

Review 24:Continental Breakfast was more limited in scope and content than usual in our experiences. Very poor quality muesli type cereal. If it had not been for the location this would be a 2 or 3 star motel. Old empty wine bottle that was on our balcony on arrival was still there when we left 2 days later. Restaurant next door does not take credit cards.

Review 25:Location excellent.

Review 26:Wasn't offered a room with full ocean view, maybe they were booked?

Review 27:Extremely comfortable n clean bed, clean room of course, and amazing location! Loved it!!

Review 28:Nothing, we wish we stayed longer!

Review 29:Loved everything. Location was amazing, fire place was beautiful and comfiest bed ever! Staff were great also and the brekjy was very nice.

Review 30:The bed and mattress were horrible.

Review 31:Location right across from the beautiful beach. A terrific continental breakfast with boiled eggs and lots of choices.

Review 32:Parking was difficult due to handicap parking (only one space).

Review 33:It was quiet and accessible to the beach. With my husband's disability it is difficult to find places that he feels comfortable in and we enjoyed it very much.

Review 34:Such a beautiful property, lovely garden, awesome breakfast, very clean, comfortable and luxurious for the price. In-room gas fireplace and patio with ocean view. Right next door to a great restaurant, The Sea Chest. Walk over, sit by their outdoor fire. We had an ocean front room. Great view. I also appreciated that I could book one night on Thanksgiving weekend!!

Review 35:The only problem I had was not withe the inn but rather all hotels in this beach and that is cellular service is almost nonexistent, but this room is some of the best. When on the balcony we got service and most of the time we got 1 or 2 bars midway in the room. I believe the reason for this is its on the point.

Review 36:The views are just amazing from our room which was up stairs in front. The sun sets are fantastic and on a clear morning we had a view of Hearst Castle seemed like it was right there.

Review 37:The room was immaculate. They provided wonderful service. Not a single blemish.

Review 38:Wonderful view, beach access, spacious room. The Inn is across the street from the beach yet not a speck of sand in our room! A wonderful find! My Family's recommending Little Sur Inn to any friend traveling up the coast.

Review 39:Breakfast is ok nothing special

Review 40:Spent a long time reading reviews and i finally found this place. I wasn't disappointed rooms were clean and spacious, no bed bugs and bathroom was clean. The room had microwave, fridge, fireplace and small dining furniture.

Review 41:Beds were uncomfortable. 'Partial ocean view' really is 'partial' and primarily a view of the parking lot unless you crane your neck out the left window on a chair...

Review 42:Very nicely appointed and updated room (aside from the mattress)

Review 43:What I didn't like was having to leave. There are no complaints!

Review 44:The view, complete wall of windows. Ocean so close, probably the closest of all the hotels to the water.

Review 45:Very nice place to relax. Quiet, clean, very friendly environment. The Continental Breakfast was high quality, including local fresh baked sweet rolls . Yum !

Review 46:Decent inn, but not as remarkable as other reviews led us to believe. It was fine but nothing to be blown away by despite staying in one of their nicest ocean-facing rooms.

Review 47:Nice location by the ocean. View is absolutely wonderful and Cambria is a cute little town.

Review 48:Stayed at Little Sur Inn for our ten year anniversary, Everything was excellent! The view from our room was great, the ocean was just a quick walk down a set of stairs across the street, and the area is close by to shopping, eating, etc. Even the nearby towns are only a quick drive away, which is nice as well. Definitely would stay again.

Review 49:No air conditioning in the room; room was like a sauna when I arrived and very uncomfortable to be in (it faced directly West so got the full force of the sun, blinds were open and windows closed so it just heated up through the day) and did not cool down sufficiently until well after sunset; the desk fan provided was of no use whatsoever - not impressed. Breakfast a bit lacking considering the room price - no hot items, poor selection. Despite the great location and paying for an ocean view, I still think it's an over-priced and expensive hotel.

Review 50:Right on the beach, very spacious room, excellent condition/decor.

Review 51:Would have preferred hot breakfast items (eggs, waffles, meat?). Dining choices within walking distance. Space is at a premium, parking lot, lobby (doing their best; but feels tight).

Review 52:Fireplace was "the heater", very fun and practical concept. Loved the outdoor dining space for breakfast. Flavored creamers and teas. Updated rooms, views, well cared for. Tissue, toilet paper and towel designs - well done!

Review 53:The breakfast was unusually ordinary for such a good accommodation.

Review 54:Excellent location. The room was spacious, well maintained, attractive, and very comfortable.

Review 55:I had a very bad experience in this hotel. For the price it is really expensive. The room was dirty, bed not comfortable at all. I was very dissapointed with what I paid and what I got. At least, staf was very nice and did something about it.

Review 56:The breakfast didn't have a hugh selection and I had to ask for a table to be cleaned off. The woman on reception seemed hung over or unwell and wasn't to impressed by having to wipe down our table.

Review 57:The rooms were great. They are big and we had heaps of room even with 2 queen beds. The bathrooms were large. The fireplace was awesome even thought we didnt need to use it. The location was beautiful and you could easI'll get onto the boardwalk across the road. The lady at Check in was helpful and helped us find somewhere for dinner and gave us some ideas for the following day. The beds were lush and comfy. The room had everything we needed. Wish we had stayed longer.

Review 58:Our room was clean and comfortable and large for 2 people. The staff were very helpful in providing for our needs and offering advise on not-to-miss things to see.

Review 59:Beautiful room overlooking the sea! Added bonus of seeing Dolphins, seals and Pelicans from our room. Very friendly staff too!! Just wish we could have stayed longer!

Review 60:We could hear the people above us walking because of the hard wood floors; beautiful, but no padding to block noise. Also, a restaurant next door created a lot of foot and car traffic; but, still had parking available at the Inn. These were small issues; the stay was overall a wonderful time.

Review 61:This is a great Inn. The room was large, extremely clean, and newly upgraded. Front window views of the ocean were fabulous. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 62:I thought our room was fine, parking good, staff friendly, but that is to be expected. At $280.00 per night for a room that looked out at the parking lot, it was way over priced.

Review 63:No major issues whatsoever, the shower pressure was a little weak though.

Review 64:This was a great find, fantastic location right by the seafront with our non-ocean view still having sea glimpses. Huge room with plenty of facilities and it was very clean.

Review 65:Only criticism and a small one at that, the breakfasts are a bit boring. After three days there I wasn't particularly bothered about going down.

Review 66:Been to the hotel before and loved it, so came back!

Review 67:Location is fantastic. Staff was welcoming and accommodating. Altough we didn't have a view, we could walk right across the street to the beach. Our room was immaculate and comfortable, and the bed was great. Wish we could have stayed longer than one day but we will definitely be back! I suggest you book early. They were turning people away.

Review 68:Perfect spot to stop if your driving the central coadt of California, right on the beachfront! Room was spacious and cosy, bed very comfortable, fireplace was beautiful, staff were friendly and helpful, great value for money, breakfast had good options (but no hot options). Would absolutely stay again!

Review 69:Nothing to complain about.

Review 70:The view of the ocean from our bedroom was breathtaking! The room was a nice size and very well furnished with a dining table and comfortable reading chairs. Lovely staff, very clean rooms, and we will be back.

Review 71:Fantastic Staff. Very helpful and friendly. Marvelous room that was open and modern and the location and views were the best I have had in my several Cambria stays.

Review 72:Breakfast , not the variety we are used to. Toaster very slow on top setting

Review 73:Excellent location , beautiful scenery, room good but wished I had booked one with a balcony.

Review 74:Nothing really, staff were pleasant, room clean and well furnished. The Breakfast eating room very small so people on top of one another while picking their selected food. The pastries were not totally fresh but editable. The courtyard area was pleasant and well appointed. The lower cheaper rooms face into the parking lot at ground level. The second floor rooms placement are much better but all rooms except highest price ones have very limited views.

Review 75:Nice comfortable rooms. The view of the ocean was limited & restaurant across the way, had many many customers lined up to gain early diner required the room Venetian blinds be shuttered.

Review 76:Nothing

Review 77:Fabulous place definitely would stay again the room on the front with balcony was amazing fabulous view of bay saw whales and dolphins. Loved sitting on the balcony viewing the ocean

Review 78:This is a superb hotel, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We had full sea views which cost extra but were well worth it. The best place we stayed by far in California

Review 79:Bedding was very clean and fresh but not soft at all.

Review 80:Loved the recently remodeled room and very good breakfast. The proximity to the beach was also excellent

Review 81:The bed was uncomfortable, but bearable.

Review 82:We loved the room. Being right at the ocean, with the sounds and smells, was heavenly. This was our second time here, and we will definitely be back.

Review 83:Not really a dislike but rather something to note. This is a small town so most of the stores in town close early.

Review 84:The fireplace in the room was a nice touch. Clean inn just what we needed along our drive along the coast. Nice town good value

Review 85:it was just what we needed for a short stay. Very nice and updated room. Even the non-ocean view rooms have a little tiny ocean view if you try hard enough. I don't know how it could have been better.

Review 86:We loved everything from the 5 o'clock wine and cheese to thebreakfast in the fabulous bed. The deck was just perfect for ending yourday before going out to dinner

Review 87:Reception was closed at 9pm (we arrived at 9:10pm) so we had to get keys from a box. That was OK but I don't think we were pre-warned about reception hours

Review 88:Great sea view. Friendly staff. Spacious rooms. Nice terrace to eat breakfast on.

Review 89:No air conditioning but there was a fan in the room. I would be concerned is the temperature was too hot. The windows could be opened and did provide a nice breeze.

Review 90:The room was large and lovely. Perfect location to walk down to the beach, the stair were right there. Staff was friendly and the property was very clean.

Review 91:Ocean view room at the ground floor is in the street level (just few meters away). this fact prevents you from opening the shades and window / door facing the ocean in evening time. Extra for ocean view room should be applicable only to the upper floor. Breakfast was very "basic" considering the price.

Review 92:Nice room with large bathroom in a perfect location

Review 93:People walking by could see into our ocean front room - privacy was impossible without completely closing the blinds which defeated the object of an ocean front room. Staff were a bit disinterested. Breakfast was awful - very little choice and not much food laid out. Not worth the money.

Review 94:Location was good. Bed & linens were really lovely.

Review 95:The oceanfront properties are a great location except there are only 2 restaurants within walking distance . The "town " of Cambria is a 5 min drive away across a highway so you can't walk it . There is only one taxi who doesn't always work so you have to drive so you can't have a beer etc ...

Review 96:The room was really lovely , and we had an ocean view which is well worth the extra . Great for a stopover , not much else to do there .

Review 97:Perfect location, well appointed room, outstanding ocean view from patio deck, and the sound of the surf crashing onto the beach. What else could you want?

Review 98:The breakfast room was depressing. The food was fine but we felt like we where in some ugly back room. No music no view . Just plain and ugly. We only set there once.

Review 99:Loved the decorating of the room.

Review 100:We stated gluten-free when booking and there were very limited options for my wife. Pretty much just fruit and coffee. I enjoyed the continental breakfast though and coffee was good :0)

Review 101:Room was lovely - clean, beautifully presented and cozy. Loved the fire and comfy bed. A great way to commence our road trip to San Fran along Highway 1!

Review 102:Everything was better than good

Review 103:Really friendly welcome just before the 9pm deadline. Best room of the holiday by far. Wish we could come back in the winter and soak up that view with the log effect fire to warm us.

Review 104:Impersonal checkin and checkout. We exchanged literally 10 words. Not unpleasant or unhelpful, but they lacked the nice words that one expects when greeted at a boutique hotel. They could have had an automated checkin/out like some of the European budget hotels.... I had to fiddle with the TV for quite a bit to make it work, there was definitely something wrong with the setup. My nightstand was plugged in a nonfunctional socket. A light switch was hidden behind the bed and the shower controls were very wabbly. One type of yogurt at breakfast and that one with vanilla- ugh. Just little annoying things. It sounds like I am nitpicking and I am, given the price range and the rave reviews I expected more. In any case, Cambria looks like a good place for retirees to enjoy a quiet week at the seaside rather than a great place for a family with small kids to spend more than a day or two. We'll probably return in 2-3 decades :)

Review 105:Sparkling clean and very nicely decorated rooms, laminated floors. It looked as if nobody ever stayed there. Boardwalk across street and a few restaurants within walking distance. Expensive, like the entire coast. OK breakfast, quite a few options. More types of yogurt would be nice. Fruit was fresh and coffee was very good. Hard boiled eggs and baby bel cheese were pretty much the only protein options. Also a microwave on hand would be nice but room was 2 steps away and I used that one. Free wifi The 'partial view' is 90% parking lot view if you have the luck to be in the bottom few units close to the office.

Review 106:Pretty warm at night with no AC, even with the window open. Found a small fan in closet when checking out but it would have been nice to know about it at checking in, Window opened onto the parking lot, so parking lot noise in the morning.

Review 107:Location to beach and restaurants.

Review 108:Nicely positioned with uninterrupted sea views from the balcony. Big picture windows to maximise the light. Comfortable, well furnished room Small but adequate breakfast

Review 109:A little pricey for the amenities in my opinion. The "breakfast" wasn't really a breakfast. The room where it is served is also the office, which is OK, but the staff was not personable and the room felt very "cold" - as was the breakfast.

Review 110:Very nice facility and good location. Short distance to downtown Cambria, yet partial ocean view right across the street from beach access.

Review 111:The INN is right across the street from the ocean. We enjoyed listening to the waves all night long. The Sea Chest restaurant right next door was a bonus!

Review 112:The bathroom door was a bit wonky but not enough to complain about.

Review 113:The location was the best part. The view was amazing. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The spa/tub was a plus.

Review 114:I couldn't stay longer!

Review 115:Had a king upgraded room, opened my sliding glass door to the ocean breeze and could watch the waves just across the street...paradise!

Review 116:The windows in our room were eye-level with the asphalt parking lot. Not fun looking out at cars rear tires, and that other guests had a full view into our room. We asked to have a room change and we were told that could not happen! I did not like that the front desk did not seem at all to care that we were a bit unhappy.

Review 117:Beautful location, the Pergo-type flooring, look of the rooms, bedding, etc. Very clean!

Review 118:Not anything bad, but being across the street from the ocean the traffic noise was a little bothersome.

Review 119:The view from the hotel room was outstanding, room was clean and comfortable.

Review 120:The building is oppressive inside . Check in was a small office that doubles as the breakfast room. Very expensive for what is basically a cheap motel.

Review 121:Nice room. Quite large and comfortable . Very close to Hearst Castle.

Review 122:The hotel is in the perfect spot. We were in a room directly across from the beach with a magnificent view. We loved the wood floors. The chairs and bed were very comfortable.

Review 123:the breakfast is not good from a European standard point of view, even I have seen worse breakfasts in other 3 stars US hotels

Review 124:the superior room with front sea view is very spacious and light. The room was very clean and comfortable for 3 people, a lot of towels, toiletries, smelling to clean, with fireplace, with direct walks in front of the hotel, a very popular seafood Restaurant right next to the hotel

Review 125:Excellent location, with fabulous views. Huge room with king bed, armchairs, table and private patio with chairs to relax on and enjoy the view.

Review 126:said all rooms had partial view of sea..only by standing on your toes looking out of one basement window did we see an inch i don't like misleading ads

Review 127:lovely comfy room
