Reviews for Sesimbra Hotel & Spa

Review 1:The room and the bathroom really smells bad... I chosed this hotel because of the spa, so that in case of bad weather I can use it, however the spa facilities are very poor. It is extremely small, only two beds are in the relax area. The people and the kids are shouting in the spa area, and the staff doesn't care about it. Do not choose it because of the spa. The rooms are used. It is not worth the 4 stars. Poor value for that price.

Review 2:Good location.

Review 3:There was a very strong sewer gas smell throughout the main body of the hotel, from the front desk right down to the lower floor exit to the beach. Very offensive! (No such odour in our room though)

Review 4:Beautiful big room overlooking the ocean. Lovely private balcony. Good breakfast, once again with amazing views.

Review 5:The bathroom was looking a little tired, water from the shower needed to be a little stronger and the screen allowed water to leak on to the floor. Paper on the wall from the bathroom also showing water damage. It is a shame as everything else looked really nice.

Review 6:Great hotel with good facilities and excellent location.

Review 7:-bad breakfast food. -fixed menu for dinner, on a sat night (with only 1 option) - unbelievable! -poor lighting in the room -the spa baths look aged -terrible room service option, with 10Euro service fee!

Review 8:-close to the beach -free parking

Review 9:The waterfall is a bit noisy when balcony door open, we were very near..The outdoor pool was cold. No Jacuzzi in the Spa. I was ill and asked reception if a doctor could come. they said they would let me know but when I rang back an hour later that staff member had gone home and not dealt with my enquiry. Very upsetting. Beach facilities stop 15th Sept. come what may.

Review 10:location, food, so clean, nice staff, wonderful view of the sea from the balcony. Part of the dining room outside so lovely to eat there. Overall a very good hotel.

Review 11:Car parking is quite odd at first but o.k. when you get used to it The very secure free carpark is on the 3rd and 4th floors of a multi story which is part of the hotel complex The hotel reception is on level six because the town and resort area is located at the bottom of a hill.. simply park up in the well marked areas of levels 3/4 and there is an intercom with a lift going up to reception.. perhaps best to leave the luggage in the car for a while and check in first rather than the confusion of dealing with bags and stuff .. It's no problem after the first time but perhaps Booking. com could explain all that on the booking form..

Review 12:Loved everything except the barman that was on duty the first night of our stay, he was clearly stressed about something and it showed in his attitude to the customers... On another day the same guy was on duty in the breakfast room and his general manner gave the impression that he was either in the wrong line of work or perhaps he just wasn't happy where he was working... But that was just one guy in an otherwise very good hotel Other than that single observation, I would say that everthing this hotel was great... 100% value for money and just 50 metres from a glorious safe beach.. I have looked at other reviews and simply don't agree with them... breakfast offering was first class and the fixed price Buffet dinner of help yourself choices of a Soup starter then a fish or meat course hot main meal, plus salads, cold meats, deserts, soft drinks or a large glass of wine for 20 Euro,s was great value and for those wanting something different there were five decent restaurants within a two or three minute walk and lots of other great 'eateries' within a ten minute walk.

Review 13:Unpleasant smell from drains in bathroom & seafront entrance by spa. Black mold in many areas in shower on the mastic was not pleasant and could be easily rectified. Great shame as these 2 items detracted from very good enjoyable overall stay.

Review 14:Very nice suite - spacious. Location ideal for cafes, restaurants. Secure underground parking.

Review 15:first we got a room with no view because there was a hugh wall in front of the terasse. We payed for seaview but saw nothing, We changed rooms but then was it non smoking terasse. This gave many frustrations

Review 16:breakfast, location, friendly staff

Review 17:Not having a sat nav in our car, finding the hotel wasn't easy. My advise is to do your best to find the front entrance ( on the 6th floor - it's a very steep hillside ) and check in before attempting to find the car park entrance which is at the lowest level. Once the staff have explained the system, it's really quite easy but utterly confusing if you don't know it. We parked first then struggling with luggage, couldn't find our way in, so eventually got to reception exhausted and in a bad mood.

Review 18:The hotel was very spacious and quieter than expected. Helpful staff on reception and good access to the beach and to the many restaurants in the town. We liked the late check out time and being invited by reception staff tro carry on enjoying the facilities after we had vacated the room. We wished we had booked more than one night there.

Review 19:We found it a bit difficult to get the the parking in the hotel and if you don't remember to get your parking ticket stamped by the hotel you will have to walk from first level to level 6 to get back to the receptionist to get your ticket stamped. The pool and Sauna were closed too early, especially when you have been out all day and wanted to come back to use the facilities. The beds were too hard for us, but we generally did like the place.

Review 20:The location was fine, the staff was helpful. Generally it was a good place.

Review 21:It was hard to find the entrance to the hotel when we arrived and difficult to work out how to exit the hotel.

Review 22:Location, large comfortable rooms, view from the spacious balcony, the infinity pool the staff, the breakfast.

Review 23:Rather let down by the inferior quality of the food.

Review 24:Potentially a very good hotel, with good accommodation and fantastic location and facilities and I will go back

Review 25:Very noisy outside until at least midnight or later, no good isolation. I expected a bit more choice for breakfast. The pool water was not very clean...

Review 26:Sea view, near the beach and restaurants

Review 27:Nada a apontar

Review 28:A simpatia e disponibilidade do staff Localização No dia do check-out usufruímos de todas as facilidades do hotel até as 21h! Inclusivé os toldos na praia (gratuitos).

Review 29:The Hotel is amazing! The staff was very nice and helpful. They literally gave us the best room: one balcony and one terrace with sea view. The room was so pretty and clean. The infinity pool is awesome! Internet works everywhere. Breakfast is nice as well and the location is very good. The beach in front is lovely, perfect for a morning walk. Very happy would definitely come back another time!

Review 30:Our suite was a bit worn out and the cleaning was not as you could expect. Reception staff a mixed bag - all friendly though. Outdoor areas where not cleaned regularly. Evening buffet not very exciting

Review 31:Restaurant and bar staff excellent. Breakfast buffet good. Roomy suite. Good location. Indoor area cleaning tip top.

Review 32:Late at night vagrants make a terrible noise on the promenade... the hotel should have security staff to ensure this is not disruptive to residents. Swinning towels should be provided around the pool, also loungers get 'booked' but residents and then they arent present... should not be allowed.

Review 33:Lovely views, beautiful setting. Gorgeous beach and pool. Sunday dinner was good value and a great selection

Review 34:Stayed there in June and really enjoyed it. Beautiful infinity pool that's not crowded with stunning views. Good selection for breakfast too. Perfect for couples looking to relax.

Review 35:To be very picky, breakfast was a bit pedestrian after a few days. Fried eggs and some different pastries would have been welcome. We had a lovely very spacious suite but the shower head was hanging off the wall. Don't be put off. If you are thinking of staying here you won't be disappointed

Review 36:Contempary hotel on the beach. Well appointed and friendly helpful staff. Free parking!!.

Review 37:It was surprised that in June, the hotel doesn't provide any umbrellas and sun beds on the beach, only after 25 of June. Breakfast was every day the same, without porridge and variety of cheese. Nobody cook for you omelette with tomatoes, vegetables. Very loud music till 1 A.M. ( it was once). Location is too long for Porto, Coimbra(approx. 3 hours)

Review 38:Very nice dinner!!Super!! And comfortable parking!very large accommodation!! One man is speaking Russian! Staff is very polite!

Review 39:No bad experience but woujld have liked an little more variety on the cooked breakfast.

Review 40:Very comfortable hotel with excellent staff, who were friendly and helpful ta all times

Review 41:Although this is a relatively new hotel it was quite rundown compared to our visits in previous years with graffiti, holes in walls, rusted metal and cracked walls. No longer the best hotel in Sesimbra as standards have clearly dropped.

Review 42:Great location on the beachfront and near restaurants and shops. Rooms were of a good size and the sea view was impressive.

Review 43:Unfortunately, although the balcony was large enough to accommodate atable and two lounge chairs and even a plant, we only got the two chairsand table as others had... But the veranda is not others. This was anopportunity to create a desire of others to rent the particular room.I did not like that the room did not eve have a pot to heat water for tea, or a drip coffee pot.Rather than have a long line, many like a pot of coffee (many of other countries like a long coffee) on the table. When fresh milk is available, the trend of using long-life milk rather than the delicious Azorean or Vigor milk makes me scratch my head. I dislike the taste of adulterated milk. While I liked the balcony, I didn't like that there was another 5-8th floor wing on the other side where there was not a lot of privacy, and the pool was really small. Finally, the scrambled eggs were too uncooked, runny and while Brits might like this, Americans prefer more solid/dry eggs, and crispy bacon. Also, nothing was there in the way of waffles, pancakes either. Many hotels will make omelets to order and this would be a smart addition for the breakfast run that would satisfy many who prefer sunny side up, over easy style eggs. The beds however were very hard. I actually found the massage therapists table softer than the beds and I didn't sleep well, nor did my friend in the other twin bed. That said, I DID like that there was a bottom sheet and a top sheet, rather than the overly hot duvet cover popular in many hotels. Finally, the bathroom had a water leakage problem that was causing a mineralization of one of the wooden sides of the door frame, and it was caused by a breakage of the caulking of the shower. In short, things need to be done not half way, but fully. If one goes for something new, be sure it can be properly maintained, or go with something that can be maintained. More inspections are needed.

Review 44:I did like the room, which had a very large balcony. I liked thelocation and from my room, the view of the mountain to watch thesun/moon rise. I liked the view of the room of the beach, andrestaurants were easy to get to as well. More Americans are coming toPortugal and we want to help. I help now by being nicely honest with awell-intentioned heart.

Review 45:the hotel location is absolutely lovely and the town of Sesimbra is full of beautiful restaurants. Staff at the hotel are wonderful and the rooms are comfortable and spotless. This is our third stay in this hotel this year

Review 46:I dislike two twin beds pushed together to create a "double" making it impossible to "sleep" with your companion. The beds kept separating. Hotel could use a bit of a face lift as it seems a bit dated.

Review 47:The hotel had the most spacious rooms with private balconies overlooking the beach and very quiet halls outside our room door. The relatively generous breakfast buffet added to the value of the total cost.

Review 48:For a "spa" hotel, the spa is small and not very well equipped. The cost of meals in the hotel restaurant is too high for the quality and service.

Review 49:The location is good, with direct access to the beach and plaza. Nice view to the ocean.

Review 50:We wished the breakfast to include more vegetables :)

Review 51:This hotel it is best place to explore Sesimbra, Espichel and Arrabida. Even Lisbon is easily reachable at only 40 km away by car. We arrived in the night and were suppose to stay 3 nights before moving into Lisbon for another 3. When we open the curtain in the morning and saw the beach, the ocean, the pool and the huge room in the morning light, we cancelled Lisbon and stayed for the whole 6 nights here. Food in the restaurant O Canahao it is excellent and affordable, services are great, friendly stuff. free underground parking.

Review 52:The only minus was the bed - so uncomfortable, it was difficult to sleep on it :(

Review 53:Hotel is beautiful and the view for the Ocean was stunning. Location is the no 1! Close to all the restaurants and town. As a gust you got chance to use SPA (sauna, steamroom) which is fantastic way of finishing the day. Overall we had very nice time staying there and would recommend to everyone.

Review 54:Bed was pretty hard, other than that nothing at all.

Review 55:We had the best room in the hotel, on the top floor with two balconies overlooking the beach. Quite the view to look out on when you wake up. Was in Sesimbra in middle of September, lots of room on the beach.

Review 56:The street and beach front noise was very loud at nights over the weekend. It did not stop until 4.30a.m. on the Saturday night and it was impossible to sleep.

Review 57:This was our second visit to this lovely hotel, it has a great location over looking the sea. There are good restaurants near by and the small town centre is just minutes walk away

Review 58:There was a sewer type smell on the ground floor most days next to the spa. The beds were a bit hard and one of the reception staff(male) could have done with some training as he told us to "come back" several times as he did not know the answer to certain enquiries.

Review 59:The location of the Hotel was excellent. The breakfast was likewise excellent and the evening buffet. The staff were generally very friendly and helpful.

Review 60:Deposit for towels innadequate. The room had a strange smell. Poor breakfast service. Spa with limited facilities.

Review 61:Big rooms and spectacular view. Very good location ans facilities.

Review 62:Nothing. Would come back but would look for a promotion of some sort as the price of rooms is a bit on the high end.

Review 63:great location, good facilities, just by the beach, the hotel guests can use the hotel's reserved area on the beach. The rooms are quite spacious, simple and well maintained. Breakfast is well presented and ideal for those that want a 'beach-orientated' meal!

Review 64:- Food in the hotel's restaurant was terrible, better in Hospitals and expensive. - Very noisy at nights due to the coffes and bars at the hotel's ground floor. - Highchairs for kids aren't safe at all. - Hotel pool very small for the number of guests. Also, not enough bed chairs available. - Sea temperature very cold (cannot blame the hotel for this)

Review 65:- The room was big and comfortable. - Breakfasts were OK - Staff very friendly

Review 66:Getting in to the place, finding the car park, and finding the reception from the car park was not a great arrival, and too much concrete.

Review 67:Good big room with sea views, somewhat obscured by a lump of concrete, fabulous infinity pool. Good value help yourself dinner with nice choice of wines. Good access to the beach once we knew the way.

Review 68:The air conditioning in the restaurant was for us a bit too high.

Review 69:The hotel is quite new and well located in Sesimbra, right in front of the beach. We had a beautiful room with a spectacular view on the Ocean. The staff very kind and helpful.

Review 70:SPA was over-rated, then a cold mini-pool and 3 showers, a Finnish and a Turkish sauna is not the definition of a SPA, especially as the chlore-smell was heavy If they just had put in an Ocean-.view from the jacuzzi (instead of the pool) and made it a bit bigger, opening up for outsiders also, they could had done something really good there Or just remove the SPA from the name... Also maintenance seems to have some issues with removing limestone, colour from electrical appliances (outlets, switches, etc) had their original colour removed by using wrong detetergent. Gives poor/dirty impression, even if (obviously too) clean Also room-design wrong with too light carpets that always will look dirty, even if (maybe) clean...wonderful to walk on though, just does not work after guests poured redwine, etc on them...

Review 71:The Ocean-view The balcony The big room and bath-room with two places for him and her The wifi That parking inside in garage was included was a pleasent surprise Breakfast acceptable, no checking of room-number This year high season seemed a bit delayed due to bad weather, so maybe less positive during high season, but that is just a guess

Review 72:How to start... this is a beautiful hotel, really, but it looks like the management tries to save money on staff (it is understaffed and they use young interns who really cannot handle the hotel), hot water is sometimes lacking, television channels are the cheap packages and so on. Plus, you have smokers on non-smoking floors because the staff "rely on the good will of smokers". Really pleasant to get on your balcony, look at the sea and fill your lungs with second hand smoke! Swimming pool is small and ice-cold. Even the "warm" water swimming pool at the spa is chilling. By the way, the gym and spa close for lunch, even if you're in the middle of your workout. The staff are really friendly, but the hotel top management have made poor decisions to save a little money that really compromise on the experience of customers.

Review 73:large rooms, well maintained facilities, clean.

Review 74:I allready knew this hotel, and the place, the staff and the facilities... for me it's all perfect!!
