Reviews for White Water Inn

Review 1:My husband and I visited Cambria for our anniversary and chose this hotel as it was waterfront and accepted pets. The staff was wonderful, very warm and friendly. The woman that checked us in had treats ready for our dog as well as a list of pet-friendly businesses in town. We enjoyed eating breakfast in our pjs from the comfort of our room, which the staff delivers in the morning! My husband was also surprised to find someone cleaning the moisture off of our windshield in the morning. We loved all the personal touches, it seems as though the staff here genuinely cares about your experience. The White Water Inn far exceeded our expectations and will be our #1 choice when traveling back to Cambria for our anniversary each year.

Review 2:Room is a little dated, strong smell of carpet cleaner in room upon entrance, had to leave a window open to air out as I'm sensitive to chemicals.

Review 3:Awesome location, clean, comfy bed, sizeable breakfast delivered in the morning to your room.

Review 4:Lovely fresh crisp decor giving an air of being clean and well cared for. Very warm welcome on arrival and a pleasant breakfast tray delivered in the morning.

Review 5:We enjoyed walking on the boardwalk, eating the delicious food at the various restaurants, walking in Cambria, and viewing the sea elephants. Everyone is friendly, and happy. Not a single fast food restaurant! Very close to Hearst Castle. At check-in, there was hot apple cider and warm chocolate chip cookies. The breakfast was delivered on a tray by a friendly woman. Our windshield was cleaned before we drove away.

Review 6:Got a half eaten jar of single serving jam in the continental breakfast they deliver to your room. Yuck! If they recycle the jam from other rooms, do they recycle other items like the hard boiled eggs too? Also, our decades old heater fan kept sticking and the coil would overheat and smell like something was burning. A handyman came, but didn't manage to fix the problem entirely. Finally, we had to stack suitcases and pillows in front of the fireplace at night because the pilot flame was so large and flickering that it was like a strobe lighting the room, making it impossible to sleep.

Review 7:We didn't have much of a view in room seven, but the location right across from the beach boardwalk was amazing, and we were only minutes driving to downtown and all the shopping and dining. The very friendly, helpful man at the desk gave us many great tips on where to visit and dine during our short stay. All his recommendations turned out great. Overall the room was a bit dated, but cozy, clean and quiet.

Review 8:We didn't ask about it but we didn't get the fireplace on. The room was a little small for the 3 of us, only 2 chairs to eat at table.

Review 9:Wonderful location, homey little cottage, clean and nicely decorated for Christmas. Excellent beds and pillows, loved the breakfast and the car window washing was a lovely surprise!

Review 10:Beautiful location, great breakfast served to your room and they even wash your car windows every morning! The town is very quaint and there are lots of things close by like the elephant seals and Hearst Castle. We went for our anniversary and didn't want to leave!

Review 11:We loved the cottage-like style of the Inn, which is directly across from the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay from our check-in with Vivian, until we checked out. She was friendly and helpful. She made restaurant recommendations and made our reservation for us. Also, she pointed out the dvd library and even offered to make popcorn for us. We dropped off our bags in our clean, updated room and left for dinner at Madeline's, which was awesome. The next morning, our continental breakfast was delivered on-time. The tray included coffee, fruit, hard boiled eggs, and breakfast breads. This was a great amenity. We will definitely return.

Review 12:Only small thing - the bathroom door would not stay closed - kept opening! Sister noted that the rates had gone up, but I paid for her 70th birthday, so that was OK.

Review 13:Have been coming to White Water for years. Love being across the street from the ocean. I take my morning walks along the boardwalk. However, Sunday the walk was icy so walked on the street. :)

Review 14:Room was a bit shabby. Overall decor needs updating. Curtains had nasty brown stains all over them. Window locks were broken. Room was extremely hot so we had to keep all the windows open. One night, a group of rowdy guests were partying very loudly and we were kept awake because we had to keep the windows open. The walls are very thin as well and we could hear guests clearly.

Review 15:Location and staff were excellent.

Review 16:The only thing I would have changed is that there was no coffee maker or microwave in the room. While the continental breakfast was great, sometimes you don't want to wait until 8AM or later for coffee.

Review 17:Beautifully appointed room with a great view, right across from Moonstoon Beach! Just steps to the boardwalk and beach. Continental breakfast was as bountiful as promised.

Review 18:The water pressure in bathroom was very weak. On the beach, there is a wooden trail. It is nice. But if you're pregnant - the smell is awful!

Review 19:Breakfast into a room. Was tasty and good. The room was spacious and nice decorated. The hotel is located just in front of a beach. There is a road between. The nearest restaurant is just 5 mins away by foot.

Review 20:None

Review 21:The best hotel while we were staying in the States. Room facing the ocean and bring-in-room breakfeast. Great facilities. I wish I could stay there for a few more days. Definately recommend it and will stay with the hotel next time.

Review 22:Nothing

Review 23:I really love this place. The small houses are very romantic look. We arrived late and hotel left key and cookies for me at front desk. We walked along the beach in the morning, and feel the sea breezing. It's a really beautiful place to stay, and I hope I could have stayed longer. Breakfast was delivered to room with warm breads,fruit,coffee,juice...we really enjoyed it! The bed is quite soft and room was very clean. Although price is high during weekend, I still feel it worth the charge.

Review 24:The room was very small and there is no facilities what so ever.

Review 25:The hotel is actually a resort on the road, across the road there is the beutiful ocean, awithin walking distanceץ The staff is very kind and helpful

Review 26:The in-room refrigerator was very small and anything you put in it froze and without a microwave you had no way of defrosting it.

Review 27:We liked the location and the suite was perfect. Very clean and we enjoyed the jacuzzi at night stargazing, and at the end of the day we enjoyed sipping wine and playing with our little dog on the fenced in patio. Mark was super helpful with dinner suggestions and reservations. The staff was efficient and friendly.

Review 28:view of ocean, helpful and friendly staff, & breakfast at the door in the morning. Low key and private. We shall return even if it is a 1200 mile drive.

Review 29:beautiful Location right at the Pacific, small b&b, very friendly staff, breakfast is served to your room, good coffee (which is especially important for a European), nice Restaurant only 5 minutes Walking distance (along the shore) from the Hotel (good advise: book a table in advance, if you do not want to wait for 40 minutes to be seated, however the food is worth waiting for)

Review 30:Poor wi-fi, cramped parking, i am allergic to animals and they dont have pet specific rooms. So hello asthma attack at 2am

Review 31:The location, the staff , the water jet tubs

Review 32:I can't figure out why they don't provide a coffee maker. There is no coffee except when breakfast is delivered, which is 8 at the earliest. I wake with the sun so this is late for me to go without caffeine. No coffee shops in easy walking distance either. Strange because all the other amenities are there.

Review 33:Great location, great breakfast, very friendly staff.

Review 34:The wifi is more or less no existing. This could be good or bad depending on what you expect.

Review 35:The location is just wonderful! We had a nice walk along the beach. Great restaurants in town. Breakfast is served with a big smile. Lovely.

Review 36:The place is kind of magic. They make you feel like a very special guest, you get breakfast served to your room, you get to see a wonderful sunset incl. some whales + it's quiet and very peaceful.

Review 37:Woke up to find small ants in the room.. They still use. Regular key for the door. No AC or fan.

Review 38:Breakfast was served on time. Great location right across the street from the ocean with. Walking path. Parking was no problem.

Review 39:Very friendly + helpful staff. The manager lent me his binoculars so my daughter could better watch the seals. Also, good advice where to go for watching the marine life and where to eat. Also, very thoughtful little extras: upon arrival we were offered delicious cookies, and in the morning our car got washed!

Review 40:Loved everything about this place. The breakfast delivered room side is over the top. Quiet, except for the sound of surf, and comfortable. Great sunsets from the room of from the benches along the boardwalk across the street on Moonstone Beach

Review 41:Could have used a couch for more comfortable sitting.

Review 42:Very relaxing quiet area of the California coast. Ocean just across the street. Delicious continental type breakfast brought to room each morning. Very comfortable bed.

Review 43:Friendly welcome with cookies; good breakfast brought to the room; cars windows cleaned first thing in the morning. Nice setting and easy access for Hearst Castle, elephant seals and the like.

Review 44:I paid extra for a whirlpool bath room so I would have a partial view of the ocean. I never use a bathtub in a lodging room, but wanted the view. The only way I could get a peek of the ocean from this room was to stand up by the exit door--in my experience this hardly qualifies as a partial view though I suppose it technically is. Not worth the extra money, however. Also, the 5-inch pilot light on the fireplace kept me awake the first night by shining in my eyes and we had to pile luggage in front of it to block the light the remaining nights. The missing screen on the back window which was necessary to regulate the temperature in the room was replaced the second day of our stay. It was missing before that.

Review 45:The location was wonderful, right across the street from a two mile board walk across along the Pacific Ocean. Staff was pleasant.

Review 46:We didn't like that we only stayed 1 one night! We wished we'd stayed longer. In all seriousness there was nothing we didn't like.

Review 47:Absolutely ADORED staying here. The location is right on the beach - perfect for walking and spotting wildlife (we saw whales up close about 10 minutes away from here). The staff (thanks Alex!) couldn't have been more helpful - offering us advice on where to eat, lending movies / popcorn, giving us plates and glasses.... they even had cookies on the desk! The room itself was fantastic - beautifully decorated, a comfortable bed and a great bathroom with a whirlpool bath. The property was also only a 5 - 10 minute drive into town.

Review 48:Nothing - stay is not cheap compared to other hotels/lodgings but all this area is expensive!.. No negatives about stay though

Review 49:Beautiful setting on Moonstone Beach. Cute little bungalow which was spotless. Greeted warmly by Lesley who a arranged Champagne for my husband's 50th birthday. Everything we needed was supplied, great nights sleep and breakfast delivered to room was a nice feature!.. Warm pastries and hot drinks and juice. Car windows cleaned in morning and just a perfect stay.

Review 50:No negatives!

Review 51:It is cozy & comfortable! Breakfast delivered to the room was a nice touch & cleaning the car's windows was awesome. I would stay there again - good location as well.

Review 52:Just wish there was a place to sit out front. Wouldn't it be nice to have the property next door? I would say skip the bagles in the am, too heavy.would put another danish.

Review 53:Shower would not stay hot -- temperature fluctuated wildly, which by the way made it difficult to shower quickly as needed in Calif. drought situation. Staff indicated they already knew about the problem but had not fixed it. Bed sagged in the middle.

Review 54:It is so beautiful there, and the room was lovely and bright. We stayed several days and had a wonderful time. Breakfast was fabulous, everyone was really nice. Room was spacious and clean. Very large bright bathroom with spa tub, gas fireplace was really fun on chilly mornings.

Review 55:Hard to get a cross breeze, room was a bit stuffy & warm. But it was summer.

Review 56:The staff. Friendly and they washed our car windows in the AM! Very clean facility.ple

Review 57:The price is high in this area overall.

Review 58:Very quiet, clean, with much appreciated touches that made our stay feel special: thick bathrobes, coffee/tea (and more) delivered to our door in the morning, a well-stocked library of DVDs, and so on. But especially appreciated how quiet our room was, thanks to the wall with the TV adjoining the bathroom wall rather than the neighboring room. Right across the street from the beach/Boardwalk.

Review 59:Would have liked air con but this a minor point everything else was great!

Review 60:Staff were friendly and very helpful, extra touches really made a difference to our stay. On our trip from San Francisco to Lod Angeles we have stayed in large, multinational chain hotels, who with all their profits still make charges for WiFi, parking etc it was refreshing to stay here where these things eere not, - a much better understanding iof what customer service really means!

Review 61:Friendly staff, breakfast delivered each morning, great view and they actually washed all our car windows every morning! Super cozy and quiet. Loved it!

Review 62:Outstanding. In addition to the scores above, the unexpected items such as delivering the breakfast to our room and the staff cleaning the car windows each morning. It was a wonderful experience, highly recommended.

Review 63:Cellular connection is not very good at the location

Review 64:Beautiful property, great location and very nice staff / owners. They even clean your car windows! Would have loved to stay for longer. If you are doing the drive on Higway 1, would recommend atleast 2 nights here

Review 65:There was nothing we didn't like.

Review 66:The accommodation was excellent with friendly staff and lovely breakfast each morning delivered to the room. The location was perfect and a place we would thoroughly recommend.

Review 67:Great location, very clean and comfy, delicious breakfast delivered to our room and having the car windows cleaned every day was so nice!! We plan on coming back!

Review 68:Little extras -- like the staff wiping down the windows of all the cars in the parking lot after the morning dew. Nice touch! Asked for a gluten free continental breakfast and expected just fruit. They actually had gluten free muffins. A real joy for my wife with celiac disease.

Review 69:In all the years I/we have been staying at White Water, we have never had a negative experience

Review 70:Coming to White Water is like coming home. The entire staff makes us feel so welcome and comfortable. The rooms are always friendly, cozy, and comfortable. Having the continental breakfast delivered to the room by a friendly staff member is a pleasant way to start a central coast day.

Review 71:The best place we were staying during our California trip! Stuff is super friendly, location is amazing: Cambria is just in the middle between San Francisco and LA, there is a place with sea elephants just 10 min away and Hearst Castle 5 min away, and ocean of course in only 1 min walk. A very cosy and sweet place, just what a traveller needs to relax :)

Review 72:everything excellent.

Review 73:The receiptionist Alexander did a very good job. Nice Rooms like small houses. Clean big rooms. Quiet. Ocean View and costal access. Breakfast in room included

Review 74:The rooms were cozy and extremely clean. The staff was very friendly. You can walk across the street to the beach. It was great to have a basket of warm bread items and fresh fruit brought to our room each morning.

Review 75:Location was perfect. The inn was located at the end of a seacoast lane, so it was quiet except for the sound of the surf. Just steps from our front door and across the road was a boardwalk one could take to enjoy the sea. Cottage like rooms were perfect for our stay: clean and cozy.

Review 76:The Fireplace in the room is a nice touch, but at night it got a bit loud from neighbors room when they turned it on! Nothing Mayor!!

Review 77:The welcoming was real nice, Breakfast in the Room great! Opposite from the beach! We only stayed one Night, but will be back for a longer spell!

Review 78:Not a bad thing, but the breakfast was okay, needed more fruit, maybe.

Review 79:The location to Moonstone Beach was great. Right across the street!! The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and courteous.

Review 80:Staff in reception is super friendly and helpful. Small but lovely breakfast included, great facilities, free parking and even cleaning of windshields as courtesy. The location in front of the see is beautiful.

Review 81:excellent service attititude of staff, willing and wanting to help out, room is very nice, clean, cosy and comfortable and with a fireplace! Nice to have breakfast served to your room!

Review 82:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 83:Room was superb - even had a gas fire! Most comfortable. pity we couldn't take it with us for the rest of our 3 week tour of Western USA'

Review 84:Good location, though no more or less than most ot the many hotels stretched one after the other along this ocean roadway. A good restaurant close by called the Moonstone Inn Bar and Grill. Pity about the virtually non-existant wifi (in our bedroom).

Review 85:No negatives

Review 86:Alex,the receptionist when we arrived and departed was warm, cheerful, and helpful. The room was spacious withvery adequate seating for 2,and in a perfect state of maintenance.Having breakfast brought to the room was a lovely touch. As we were eating I noticed that the windows of our car and others were being cleaned.

Review 87:The wifi didn't work well at all and the DVD player was broken. Whilst the room was very nice, it was the most expensive property we stayed in on our road trip, and therefore it seemed overpriced compared to similar places we stayed on the same coastline.

Review 88:The room was comfortable and the staff were friendly.

Review 89:It's quaint, charming feel makes you relax and let all your worries go! The staff is welcoming and always remember us when we return! It's like coming home to family.

Review 90:The shower made a funny noise. I had to adjust the pressure of the shower in order to not hear the sound. It sounds like the the pipe is bad, or it's working too hard.

Review 91:I love that each room has its own private bench and the cute little garden in front of it. That made it personal to me. The services--delivering of the breakfast to the rooms, the cleaning of the cars windshields, awesome! What made it best is the 100 yard walk to the boardwalk to enjoy the ocean.

Review 92:The older lady on the reception in the morning wasn't very kind but it was still ok, just a bit too formal and cold...

Review 93:Wonderful place and nice location, bubble bath was great, room with fireplace was very nice also. The young guy in reception was very kind and helpful with information on fosh restoran

Review 94:Pillow was unbearable--too big, too hard. Used a towel instead. Need coffee maker in room.

Review 95:thoughtful staff. Washed car windows early in the morning.

Review 96:Cell service was real bad in that location so I had to do most of my phone calls away from the site or had my husband call into the room. I saw many others walking the grounds to make calls also. WiFi was helpful. Due to the drought that CA is now in the water pressure was low. I understand this but others should know so they understand.

Review 97:Mark was very helpful in all the information he passed on to us from shopping to dinning. The complementary breakfast was fantastic. I was surprised to see that every morning we had all of our windows washed for us so that was a real treat. The beds were quite comfortable, the fireplace was a nice addition in the evenings when you come back from the beach.

Review 98:The wifi in Room 1 is poor, but they are working on fixing it. The exterior is so cute and fresh; the interior could use a little updating of decor, but it is very clean and comfortable. Close the curtains when you are out during the day, as the sun really heats up the room. If you do get chilly, the gas fireplace heats up the room in a jiffy. Breakfast is "continental" style. Could use a protein choice, like perhaps a couple of hard-boiled eggs.

Review 99:The location is the best -- north end of the Moonstone Beach strip, with entrance to the boardwalk directly across the street. We had Room 1 -- picture window view of ocean and crashing waves from our room and from (the BEST part) our private outdoor jacuzzi. Mark in the office was lovely and welcoming and offered many great suggestions of sites and restaurants complete with maps.

Review 100:Room described as having an ocean view. It didn't. Strong chemical odor in room and sheets. Quite overpriced.

Review 101:Location, good DVD selection, friendly staff.

Review 102:The bed was not as comfortable as I expected. Not unbearable just use to a foam mattress.

Review 103:staff was so nice!! Loved it had so much fun and it was so romantic. Best anniversary ever!! Will be back next year!!

Review 104:nothing

Review 105:The location is awesome some few steps from the ocean , the rooms are so simple and cozy, the staff (the young man Alex is wonderful, he did his best to get us all what we needed once we arrived, he was helping us with a nice smile, his willingness to serve guests and make them happy is excellent) plan to spend 3 days or more

Review 106:Wifi virtually non-existent, but try coffee shop in Cambria,it was fine.Shower in our room needed attention, and only the 'front of property' rooms will have any hope of a sea view.

Review 107:Cambria is a fantastic location to stay and unwind, and WWI takes full advantage. The property is very clean, and quiet. Breakfast in the room is a winner. Worth it

Review 108:No bad experience. Only thing that was not working so wonderful was the WiFi, but honestly, Cambria is a place you go to experience the outdoors and the beautiful scenery, not stuck to your wireless devices!

Review 109:I loved the fact that the inn was just steps away from the beach! Everyone was friendly at the Inn. Alex at the front desk was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable about the property and Cambria. He was very helpful, open and a joy to talk to. Will definitely return to the White Water Inn!!

Review 110:staff was very friendly and helpful in recommendations for the area; close to restaurants, we walked across the street to the beach and was lovely, room was clean and smelled nice.

Review 111:Be prepared for difficulty with cell phone connection. You need to walk out to the road to get a good connection. Just a problem with that area. This could be a good thing!

Review 112:The quaint room, spa tub, free DVD loaners, bathrobes, kind friendly staff, and breakfast brought to your room.

Review 113:the bathroom fan was very noisey and on the same switch as the lights. No protein in the breakfast. to many carbs. Lighting in room not bright enough for reading. Having to use 3 remotes to operate the video system.

Review 114:I liked everything, a very romantic place. We had a king room with a jacuzie tub, fire place, the staff cleaned are car windows every morning, white terry robes to put on after the tub. Nice front desk staff. DVD and large flat screen, movies in office and chocolate chip cookies. So cozy, beautiful flowers.

Review 115:No elegance, no luxury, Motel bathroom. No common area, Wi-fi does not work. Since it ranked # 1 among B&B in Cambria, I booked it at their US 200 fare. Paid way too much.

Review 116:Good, clean and comfortable.Nice but simple.

Review 117:The location is spectacularly beautiful, with easy access to the beach and open spaces. The staff could not have been more welcoming to us and our two dogs, even providing great tips are pet-friendly restaurants, parks, etc. We loved our stay, and cannot say enough about the hospitality. We will definitely book a return visit.

Review 118:Water pressure in shower so low we couldn't get shampoo out of hair. We were up sold an upgrade to a room with ocean views but we had to leave door open to see ocean?

Review 119:Clean room

Review 120:Nil.

Review 121:We arrived at the inn and was attended by Alex. He was extremely friendly and helpful. He provided valuable information to us about the area and tourist information without us asking. As there was a storm heading our way, he printed an alternative map for our journey. Bed was very comfortable. Room was clean. Breakfast was served promptly at my stipulated time. I would definitely recommend this inn to other travellers.

Review 122:I can't think of anything I didn't like. The WiFi could have been better, but not a big deal to me.

Review 123:The ambiance, the fact that you could walk across the street and see the beach, it was not crowded, the breakfast in the morning was amazing. The service was impeccable.

Review 124:We would have appreciated a little more bread/toast in the included breakfast. The weak Wi-Fi signal was frustrating.

Review 125:A friend and myself stayed at the White Water Inn, Cambria for 1 night during our coastal drive from LA to San Francisco. The staff were very helpful, the accommodation was clean and comfortable and a modest continental breakfast (we would have appreciated a little more bread/toast) was included in the tariff. I liked that we could drive into the property and park our hire car near our room. The boardwalk across the road and along the beach front is lovely for strolling and we enjoyed walking to the Moonstone Bar & Grill for dinner. A very nice inn experience for 2 Australian travelers.
