Reviews for Hotel Biba

Review 1:Location to train tracks, Room was small, no drawers to put clothes in and very small counter space in bathroom. Shower seems to be cut out of wall !

Review 2:Location to Waterfront Area

Review 3:There was no mini fridge or microwave.

Review 4:Staff was amazing and very helpful. The breakfast selection was good and I like that the grocery store is so close (was very helpful). I also like that it's so close to downtown and the ocean! Very lovely atmosphere.

Review 5:1) Housekeeping. Found a toenail on my bed upon check-in, and they didn't clean at all the third day. 2) Door lock key card system didn't work. I had to get a new card every time I returned to the room. 3) Run-down environment. Was initially nicely decorated; now paint is chipped, lamps and mirrors are askew, etc.

Review 6:The front office staff were cheerful and helpful, although unable to deal with all the problems of the facility.

Review 7:Quite rough around the edges : musky, somewhat mildewy room smell, stains on the duvet cover and towels.

Review 8:Love the elcid neighborhood. Like the lush and funky landscaping. Enjoy the character of the place. Like that the room had several windows that we could open.

Review 9:No shelf in shower for belongings. Room very hot, especially at night when trying to sleep and thermostat would not turn on a/c. No vanity in bathroom for belongings. Coffee much too strong; no real cream for coffee, only tiny packets. Always out of orange juice. Parking an issue. Furniture in bar uncomfortable. Poor lighting in room to read.

Review 10:Location, price

Review 11:Not enough parking for the rooms. Extra parking is 2 spots out on the street or a very poorly lit parking lot behind the property which belongs to the neighboring apt buildings (w/o permission). Nice grounds. Room was getting a bit tired. Floor needed washed and the shower needed scrubbing. Minimalist thrift shop furnishings with an impressive shower door. Why would you want a comfy chair? It comes furnished with an old, worn dining room chair. No fridge, coffee makers, coffee in the lobby or other luxury amenities here. Overall, it's not bad. Think motel 6 with everything painted white a few years ago. It's falling behind on the maintenance to keep it fresh. No bugs! No view. No windows either.

Review 12:Great location. Nice grounds. Friendly, quick check in.

Review 13:Perfect location , not far from downtown and beach but on quiet street. Room was modern, spacious and very clean. I'm sure I will be back to Biba hotel!

Review 14:We were a large group who needed some extra lodging one night after we arrived from out of state and before our rented villa was ready in this area the next day. We thought we would be close to City Place, but were actually in a run down area where we heard gunshots at night. Our rooms ( we had 3 ) were NOT clean. I had 2 dead bugs on my fabric headboard in room 128, we had to wear socks while on the tile floor since it was so dirty. Missing light bulbs, months of dust all over lamps. Air conditioning didn't work in one of our rooms, kept cycling off. Rooms 128 & 131 had tiny showers & old nasty furniture ( the wicker chair seat cushion was black with dirt & looked like dogs had slept in it) but room 124 had a big shower with better furniture. Bathrooms have been redone & were cleaner than the rooms, except in two of the showers where there was grime on the floors that will never come out without some scrubbing effort. Most of electric plugs in all 3 rooms were broken or not working. Behind furniture ( moved to find plugs that worked) it was filthy, it seemed they never clean there, found a plastic spoon and an old sock lying there. If you absolutely are desperate and must stay here, be sure they show you your room first!

Review 15:Grounds and outdoor breakfast area were well situated, considering the hotel is on a busy street. Continental breakfast was edible. Wifi working.

Review 16:The only downfall to our stay was that it was very close to a train line and the sound of the horns woke us up a few times in the night, other than that we had a very enjoyable stay

Review 17:The floor was dirty and the walls in the bathroom dirty also. View it's location they could easily ask more money for the rooms and have the rooms cleaned. I saw the staff wash the floors with dirty (black) water. This was my third time to Biba and for the price of the rooms I will not return. Why cleansiness!!!

Review 18:continental breakfast was good.

Review 19:Two things really detracted from our stay though. One being the strong bleach/cleaning product smell in our room (122). While I appreciate the cleaning efforts of the staff, the smell never went away while we were there. The second thing was that our king size bed had nice linens and pillows, but was so firm that it was uncomfortable for the both of us.

Review 20:I liked that staff was very friendly, and our room was very clean. The pathways thru the plants and trees were beautiful! Wish I could have spent more time hanging out in the outdoor breakfast area.

Review 21:In town for medical treatment. Loved my stay at Bib and recommended it to friends and family. The breakfast is awesome for people in a hurry to eat and run. Staff very friendly and helpful. Thank you!

Review 22:Rooms are not soundproof enough. Trains and noisy neighbors could be heard throughout the night, making a good night's sleep a bit challenging.

Review 23:Breakfast was very nice, and courtyard to eat in was very pleasant. Rooms were nicely decorated.

Review 24:Breakfast was packed away 20mins before the stated time.

Review 25:Very nice rooms, very spacious and clean. Breakfast was plentiful and no problems with room to sit and enjoy it.

Review 26:stayed 10 days, bath cleaned 3 times. parking in "back lot" frightening for a single woman...lighting there but not operational. bkfst minimal. and , like others, would have liked some drawers. (thank goodness I pack extra hangers)

Review 27:convenient to I95

Review 28:It's a bit far from the city centre. About 15 min by car. You cannot really walk around the hotel because there s not that much to see.

Review 29:Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Clean room. Big parking.

Review 30:Noise from train at night wakes you up, bugs in the bathroom, really dirty floors full of hair.

Review 31:Staff were really nice and polite, free parking, breakfast was ok

Review 32:I stayed a week and would have liked a dresser in room. No place to put your clothing.

Review 33:Great location. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice pool. Liked that most rooms on ground floor. Outside court yard nice for breakfast.

Review 34:The room was basic, so no fridge or hairdryer in the room. Location was okay, but we had to drive to downtown where we had to pay for parking.

Review 35:The place was very trendy, and quite clean. Breakfast was really nice, one of the best in our florida road trip. Liked the room a lot, would definitely stay here again.

Review 36:Very close to a railway line, that will wake light sleepers every few hours in the night!

Review 37:Lovely little hotel, clean and comfortable. Saw very little staff on duty (could be good or bad depending on your perspective!), interesting layout and design allowed for privacy.

Review 38:It is a small and unique hotel. Garden atmosphere and a great swimming pool. I have returned many times. I tend not to stay in chain generic hotels.

Review 39:Surrounding area surprisingly calm for an in town location. Cool comfortable minimalist decor rooms. Hotel is enclosed in a lovely garden, like a refuge from the noise and hustle of the city

Review 40:Biba has a great atmosphere, very laid back and attracts a variety of guests, from business people to those staying a few days and a good number of overseas travellers?

Review 41:The a/c in our room was a little bit weak.

Review 42:This place was like a little garden oasiss in the city. It was a very relaxing environment. We loved the breakfast area, the room furnishings and the hotel layout. We'll book here next time, too.

Review 43:My TV fell off the wall in the middle of the night and broke into pieces. I was moved to another room since I did not want to be exposed to Mercury vapors. And moved again the next day. I was too tired that morning to enjoy my day.

Review 44:The people are so friendly. And I liked the small cozy tropical feeling.

Review 45:A chemical smell that didn't go away even after opening the windows. Maybe it is from the TV that got cleaned with a liquid. Breakfast that didn't include gluten free or Paleo diet.

Review 46:Convenient place and reasonably quiet.

Review 47:A lot of younger ppl drinking there. Extremely violent fight in the next room woke us up at 4am and we were not offered any discount or condolences.

Review 48:Friendly and easy

Review 49:This is not a hotel. It is a motel and not one of the clean kind. Honestely - avoid this at all costs. The lobby is a little entry hall with the reception being an office desk, staffed by one employee. We experienced a very cold welcoming - as soon as we entered we were asked for our surname and handed an entry form. As unwelcoming as this was this is by far not the worst about this accommodation. The rooms are dirty. And by dirty I mean there is dust and hairs litereally everywhere. On the desk. On the nightstands. How can there be so many hairs? Honestly? This could be so easily avoided by just wiping the surfaces. However, it did not stop there. The bathroom was even worse. The toilet seat was covered with urin spots, the shower drain stuffed with hairs. The rooms themselves are mostly located on the ground floors in bungalows and accessible directly from the street. The area felt very unsafe, thus the fact that everyone can walk up to your door made us feel not secure at all. There is not much more to say but to avoid this place at all costs. No matter what room price you get it will not be worth staying there. We left at sunrise and also skipped the breakfast as we did not want to spend one more minute there than necessary (thus the breakfast is excluded from this review as we did not stay to eat). If you are looking for a truly awful and disgusting experience go ahead and book. If not just stay away.

Review 50:Unfortunately, there is not a single good point I can list for this establishment apart that parking is free. If you book a room at Hotel Bibo you will regret this as soon as you enter the "lobby". The main building itself looks fine from the outside, but do not let the external look misguide you. Avoid at all costs.

Review 51:One block from the intracoastal in historic (for Florida) neighborhood, near lots of good restaurants, and five minutes from the airport. Historic property with mostly European guests.

Review 52:Miss Yvonne and and her daughter Patricia were the most kind, loving, warmhearted people that I met in a long time. They made my honeymoon the most memorable experience!

Review 53:The staff was horrible and I couldn't pay for my stay in cash, although the web site gives you that option, nor could I cancel my booking, even though I booked a few hours ahead. They kept stating cancel 24 hrs before the check in time or I'd have to pay for a full nights stay. I must have a credit card even though they won't charge it. They also have a deposit even though it states no credit card needed, so I couldn't rent the room. This was a horrible experience while traveling. I would rate this hotel at a 2, just for the confusion.

Review 54:I wasn't impressed

Review 55:The bathroom was really small, with absolutely no countertop or drawers & other than a minimal closet the room had no storage & very thin walls.

Review 56:We liked that the room, grounds & pool was clean. The staff was also very friendly & helpful.

Review 57:The rooms didn't have a refrigerator or microwave for convience. There isn't enough parking spots.

Review 58:i really enjoyed the garden. The staff was nice too.

Review 59:The rooms were clean and comfortable. All areas inside outside were clean and beautiful. Staff were very kind and helpful. .The hotel was near restaurants and downtown. I enjoy the time.

Review 60:The room booked to enjoy a pool view was very hot and we had to swirch rooms after we came from Dinner around 9/10pm at night instead of being able to enjoy each other's company. We requested to be switched back once the Ac was fixed and never were. The cleaning service for the room wasn't present to maintain the floor was dirty and towels. The price was great for the location and view.

Review 61:The staff was very friendly. The flat screen tv the comfy sheets.

Review 62:The air conditioning didn't work. They tried to change it out but still wasn't working, instead of immediately changing us rooms. There were bugs on the comforter and towels. There was a stain on the comforter. Very little parking. They finally moved us rooms after the air conditioner was leaking onto us from the ceiling.

Review 63:We stayed in room 203 on the second floor of the main house. Location was great, but we could hear everything going on in the lobby and up and down the stairs. Some nights the talking and activity of people coming and going woke us up. I would suggest installing solid core doors with jamb seals around the perimeter at each guest room in the main house to provide a tightly closed solid door to minimize the sound transfer.

Review 64:The architecture and ambiance of the hotel was very nice. Loved sitting out on the courtyard having breakfast. Landscaping very well done. The main historic house is very pleasant. All staff from the front desk to the breakfast crew were all very nice.

Review 65:location was bad

Review 66:The room was nice comfortable but very small. The location of the hotel was not great far away from downtown nothing around there worth while. middle of no where. the breakfast was good for bagels muffins and cereal no hot foods

Review 67:We had a small room right over the desk that was occupied all night, it was like being watched and listened to. There was no small refrigerator or micro. Breakfast was kinda weak.

Review 68:Nice looking place (built in the 1930's and on the national register) and very clean. Location for our reasoning was very good.

Review 69:Pillows were a bit uncomfortable and wasn't able to get w good night's rest. Had to fold it in half to get some support.

Review 70:Had a great stay. Location is 5 min away from downtown and Clematis. #win Facilities were clean and modern.

Review 71:Breakfast was a little bit dissapointing. We were still on time and almost all The trays were empty. We also could not contact anybody because there was nobody.

Review 72:room and bathroom was new, Nice and clean. Swimmingpool was also lovely.

Review 73:Stayed in one of the studio rooms in main building and it was a bit noisey at times. Just stayed one night. Passing thru west palm.

Review 74:It was clean and in a decent area. Had a pool and free breakfast.

Review 75:The only problem with this hotel I found was that I couldn't get my internet to work properly and you can't control your own climate in the rooms. (It was cold enough for the heat we met in FL.)

Review 76:The location, style, comfort, cleanliness, and price are what made my wife and I love this hotel.

Review 77:Parking was a bit tight.

Review 78:Peaceful stay, the gardens are beautiful. It wasn't overpriced. The rooms were clean, housekeeping was very friendly as was the rest of the staff.

Review 79:Great quiet location with amazing staff. Very clean facilities and comfortable room. Outdoor pool area very nice and inviting. Very Good continental breakfast complemented with an outside seating area that made my morning.

Review 80:Pillows could have been a little better but other than that everything was great.

Review 81:The decor was great. Really nice hotel. Staff was super friendly and price was great.

Review 82:Had no parking the first night!! Got warning from next building but didn't get towed luckily. Also need some hooks or shelf in bathroom for toiletries.

Review 83:Clean, helpful staff, nice breakfast bar. Convenient to downtown

Review 84:The bathroom and shower were a lil small.

Review 85:The double room was fairly spacious even with a crib in it also. The air conditioner was more than adequate and very quiet. The room was very clean upon check-in.

Review 86:From the street you may wonder why you booked here. But once you get beyond the front parking and see the lovely gardens, pool, etc. you will agree it is a hidden gem.

Review 87:They could have better parking. The property is a little old but beautiful.

Review 88:The staff was friendly. The pool is wonderful. The property is great. The breakfast was delicious.

Review 89:A long way from anything, wifi was inconsistent. Bathroom floor had been re grouted and needed a good clean

Review 90:Superb value for money, friendly staff, decent continental breakfast .

Review 91:I didnt like the location. I felt like I wasn't near anything walking distance.

Review 92:I like the look of the hotel. Very modern. The bed was very comfortable. Room was extremely clean.

Review 93:this is not a boutique hotel. Breakfast was not worth advertising as it was cheap cheap cheap. Cats in courtryard?

Review 94:Room was clean. but needed repair and since there was no carpet they should be vacuumed and swept and dusted better.

Review 95:Room 101 spacious, had everything need for our stay. Loved the outsidebreakfast area, no complaints with the options available for breakfast.Pool area clean and comfortable. Had pool to ourselves most days.

Review 96:The AC was running full blast and there was no way to turn it down so it was a little too cold

Review 97:Love the updated historic building and its charm. Staff was friendly, room was super clean and had everything I wanted.

Review 98:The room was clean and the bathroom was clean but the walls were not very clean.

Review 99:I booked 3 rooms for 2 nights and had to cancel the second night. They were very happy to give me a refund even though I did not give them a 24 hour notice. Everyone at Hotel Biba was very nice and very accommodating.

Review 100:Room located in the lobby. Too much traffic.

Review 101:My hubby and I love this place. This is our little get away.. This time we stayed in a room located in the lobby. Never again. Too much traffic and the room was too small. Other than that it's always a pleasure to stay here.

Review 102:We had a confirmed king bedded room, but upon arrival only 2 double beds were available. We were able to check in at 3:30PM. The room looked nice, but there was long hair all over the tile floors in the bedroom and bathroom. We also had a couple of mosquitos all night long. Parking was a problem when we returned at 10:30 PM, although we were finally directed to additional parking in rear of the main building.

Review 103:Complimentary cold breakfast was ample, pretty gardens, white decor in rooms, tile roof of bungalows, friendly check in staff, housekeeping, close proximity to downtown. Room rate was great for Palm Beach area.

Review 104:Rooms could use some attention. Not only with decor but cleaning/removing cobwebs & mosquitos.

Review 105:Location great. Able to walk to/from City Place and the surrounding streets. Privacy was nice!

Review 106:Bed was quite uncomfortable and the it had several hairs. I ran to Walmart and put new sheets over the bed.

Review 107:Quaint, updated small hotel located near downtown WPB.

Review 108:The floors were very dirty, my feet were black after walking on them. Also we had 3 guests, only had towels for 2 and even asked for extra towels, which we never received. Bedding was stained

Review 109:The outside garden area was beautiful and it was peaceful even though wasn't located in the nicest neighborhood.

Review 110:Very poor at keeping breakfast stocked and hygeine products stocked in room. Too close to train tracks and busy road.

Review 111:Modern and clean. Good staff at the desk.

Review 112:we had problems with the room keys several times

Review 113:Setup for breakfast and cozy courtyard encouraged guests to visit and interact. we met and enjoyed many of the fellow guests

Review 114:Great, little hotel on the outskirts of a "questionable" part of town. As soon as you cross Dixie HWY, you know you're in for a little treat. Rooms were only big (and clean) enough to comfortably sit and watch some TV after a night of drinking. If you want the Ritz Carlton, go to the Ritz Carlton. If you're a young couple looking to waste a weekend in sunny (and developing) West Palm, this is your place.

Review 115:we booked two queen beds but when we arrived we where in a room with one. When we complained and wanted some kind of fee adjustment for the inconvenience the manager refused to address our request. He was evasive. The front desk kept telling us "he's in a meeting", etc. At breakfast they put out a few rotten bananas as the fruit option. Is was pretty pathetic.

Review 116:Charming and simple

Review 117:Would have been nice to have a coffee pot and microwave. But for us that would not be a deal breaker.

Review 118:Quiet ,clean. bed ok. If your looking for it to be the Hilton this is not for you. But for a place to stay and to run out of for a few days its great. We were in the lobby part. There are only 4 rooms in the upstairs part. I'm assuming all of these are the same. Just a big bedroom with a private bath. We would stay again.

Review 119:I got out of the shower walked across the floor and my feet had what seemed to be sand on the bottom like the floors weren't swept, there were little grey ants crawling everywhere, the breakfast wasn't good at all.

Review 120:The main entrance was beautiful, the feel that you get once you walk in was amazing, but once you get to the room it's a total let down. Staff were pretty nice.

Review 121:see above. i flew for an interview. arrived late, checked in late bc of hotel issues, parking problems, no hot water, no coffee machine in room. requested ahead of time for an iron and ironing board - most hotels have them - they said there would be one in the room. there wasn't. no blow dryer. and no shampoo the next morning when i was ready to jump on the shower. they didnt have any shampoo. it was the only thing i forgot. walls are thin and the individual next to me played the tv loud until 4 am. next to an autozone.

Review 122:nothing except the woman at the desk who felt terrible abt the hotel issues and tried to help personally at 11:30 at night. the management and hotel was so bad she was going to quit. there were problems w most guest accomodations, no parking w street light, and she was the only one there. she couldn't get in touch w the owner or manager. the place is poorly run.

Review 123:Wasn't over the top clean, but wasn't in anyway uncomfortable

Review 124:Less than a $10 taxi ride with tip from west Palm beach airport. Great area, lots to do in a short driving distance. Much cheaper than area hotels. Would absolutely stay here again

Review 125:This place looks cute and charming, like a private garden with villas, but nothing works properly. The (new) manager seemed overwhelmed and the staff seemed clueless, relaying even the smallest question to the manager. Most seriously, on the coldest day of the year, the room heating didn't work. The manager tried but failed to fix it, and we had to ask for a blanket, which took ages for the staff to rustle up. (Fully booked, so couldn't move rooms.) In the bathroom, we could hear every word of our neighbour's conversation. Definitely no privacy here!

Review 126:Charming, boutique scale and feeling. The Cuban baked goods focused Continental breakfast (included) was great!

Review 127:The girl at the front desk didn't followed through with me when I needed assistance during my stay. My toilet was clogged so I had to use the restroom on the lounge area. Housekeeping isn't great.

Review 128:The property is cute and I love the concept. The breakfast and courtyard are nice.

Review 129:I liked it all. Great for the price. Beautiful plant set up including dinning area. Breakfast was filling and area was clean. Staff was descent and friendly. Close to beaches, zoo, water park, downtown, safari, science and aquarium museum amongst other cool stuff to do. I would definitely consider staying again.

Review 130:It was a bit noisy. A bit more sound proofing would have been good.

Review 131:The location is convenient and a great place for long walks through the El Cid neighborhood. The staff, especially, Miriam, were kind and helpful. Pleasant breakfast space with outdoor garden. I'd come back.

Review 132:Train tracks nearby, woke me up 4 times throughout the night blowing their horn.

Review 133:Nothing good to say. Had 4 walls with an air conditioner that you couldn't control. Woke up sweating most of the night. The bed was horrible, should have brought air mattress.

Review 134:No bad experience but it seemed like hotel was 85% finished in a renovation. When there were no glasses in room I was told by a staff member the owner has ordered new ones that had not arrived:) There was no dresser so we had keep our clothes in our suitcases on luggage stands Not the end of the world but.....

Review 135:Clean all white rooms, very friendly and helpfulk staff, good continental breakfast, convenient location. We stayed for 2 nights and loved the location, only minutes from the vibrant West Palm Beach restaurant scene
