Reviews for Sand Pebbles Inn

Review 1:I enjoyed the breakfast, slow-cooked oatmeal and hard boiled eggs for protein, fresh fruits and berries. The rooms are small compared to some on moonstone drive, but I slept great and completely enjoyed my stay.

Review 2:The rooms were a little on the small side the bathroom was very disappointing everything in there was old I do understand that they are going to be closing it and remodeling all the bathrooms but didn't happen in my time.

Review 3:Love the location of the property the breakfast was very well done and the staff especially the maintenance man was wonderful.

Review 4:My husband and I drove up the coast for our honeymoon and this was our favorite spot along the route!! The view from our room could not have been better! The staff was kind and helpful the breakfast was fantastic!! We will definitely return to the spot many times:)

Review 5:I chose this hotel after some searching for a beautiful, charming and updated, place to take my sweetheart for his birthday. I was impressed with the photos I saw online and the actual location did not disappoint. We can't wait to return. It was such a wonderful respite from the frantic pace of day to day living.

Review 6:the breakfast room is VERY small. There was not room to sit down and eat.

Review 7:it is a great location right across the street from the boardwalk and beach. Also walking distance to a couple restaurants.

Review 8:Breakfasts in the US are always a disappointment and sadly it was the same here, though not as bad as the chain hotels which are inedible.

Review 9:The attention to detail

Review 10:The breakfast room was a little dissapointing with no outlook over the sea...opportunity missed! Would have been lovely to sit and drink our tea and coffee looking out at the beautiful view in front of the hotel.

Review 11:Great comfortable accommodation and loved the fire in the room wish we had longer to stay

Review 12:Bathroom was a little bit dated - hot tub v noisy and didn't really work properly. Breakfast room tiny. But overall still enjoyed our stay.

Review 13:Location opposite the beach. Great looking hotel on the outside. Room was as pictured and comfortable.

Review 14:The breakfast set up. It was a little confusing. There was no sign to indicate what was available. Unless you happened to notice a waffle iron in the back, you would never know waffles were an option. Visually, the area needs to be spruced up, too. It is very stark and visually unappealing. A little art work, or a decorative rug, etc. could really help the drab decor.

Review 15:Pretty much everything except some of the breakfast set up.

Review 16:Only negative was the breakfast location. Breakfast was good, small breakfast room with 3 small tables. Additional tables are located in the hallway by the ice machine.

Review 17:Location was great. First time to Cambria and this is a perfect location, across the street from the beach. Rooms were updated and well appointed. Stay on the 2nd floor, first floor has a basement feel to it.

Review 18:Efforts to jazz up the decor do not hide The fact that this is a motel style accommodation at four-star prices. Poor ventilation makes the rooms very hot.

Review 19:Close to the ocean, varied and nice choices for breakfast

Review 20:The breakfast room is too small and claustrophobic . The waffle was excellent and I wish I could have enjoyed it more had the room been more inviting.

Review 21:Location is great, perfect for watching a spectacular sunset and a pleasant walk a long the beach on the boardwalk. The beds are super comfortable and staff is friendly and helpful.

Review 22:The only bad thing: it is a little bit to expensive to stay there for a longer time.

Review 23:Perfect for a short stay, very pretty room, nice view with balcony, excellent breakfast, quiet, very comfortable bed, nice bathtub and fireplace.

Review 24:Worst value for money in our 2.5 week tour of western US. Breakfast is very basic in a very small and not comfortable breakfast room. Nice rooms but nothing special is offered to justify the ridiculous rate we paid. Sorry :)

Review 25:Location is perfect and staff helpful.

Review 26:The staff at the front desk were very loud. Had to ask to get a different room. But the second room was very nice

Review 27:I really enjoyed the view once we were moved from a back room right next to the front desk.

Review 28:The breakfast was below average

Review 29:Great location, friendly service (we arrived late at night and they were very helpful), close to sea & not far from restaurant

Review 30:We understand being at the beach, there's not much call for air conditioning. But the day we arrived, it was over 90 degrees and the room was sweltering. There was an over head fan and small window which were opened, but took most of the night to cool down

Review 31:Staff were very pleasant and helpful

Review 32:weather was pretty hot and there's no A/C, just a ceiling fan.

Review 33:Great hotel, the room was excellent, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was really nice, it's not an all American eggs and bacon kind of breakfast, but it did have waffles, yogurt, pastries, fruit, cornflakes...we were very happy with it. Location is also good, right by moonstone beach.

Review 34:Staff was exemplary in their customer service, knowledge, and level of caring. The hotel is in a beautiful setting with the beach directly across the street. The room was so comfortable and welcoming! We loved our stay! We stayed in 5 hotels during this trip. The Sand Pebbles Inn was our absolute favorite!

Review 35:Our room was claustrophobic. It was small and no view at all. Bathroom sink counter very small, not enough room for two people's toiletries.

Review 36:Location was great. Being athletic enough, we enjoyed the boardwalk and the Ocean very much.

Review 37:Could not check into room until after 3 pm so we had to go on our way without unloading bags as we arrived at 2:30 pm. No coffee in the desk area as promised early morning. Clerk instructed us to go downstairs to breakfast room if we wanted coffee.

Review 38:Bed great, quiet and close to shoreline

Review 39:The staff were really helpful. The location was fantastic and we saw so much wildlife! Coffee, tea & cold drinks available in reception made it very welcoming.

Review 40:The bed was a little soft for my taste but, in spite of it, I slept very well anyway ;0)

Review 41:We upgraded to a room with a view. It was awesome. We'll definitely go back and stay again.

Review 42:Leaving

Review 43:Absolutely loved this hotel. Location superb being on the beach, staff lovely genuine people and wildlife amazing ( saw Whales, sea otters and seals). Felt relaxed and at home from moment of arrival and simply sad as we left. Would have loved to have stayed longer. Will be back! Thank you.

Review 44:None, really.

Review 45:We arrived at 12.30am and the staff had carefully organised us to check in at the sister hotel, and then we got the key for our room. The room was very comfortable and when we woke up, the view was a lovely surprise. The staff were very warm and friendly and let us have an extra hour free of charge.

Review 46:It was a little warm in our room the first night. We asked for a fan the second night and had a great night's sleep from the second night to the end of our visit.

Review 47:Our room was clean and well maintained. The location is fantastic - close to the walking trail and both restaurants. All of the staff were very welcoming and went out of their way to make our vacation wonderful.

Review 48:Nothing - just be aware that not all rooms have a view of the ocean

Review 49:great Location - clean rooms - nice staff - great breakfast - can't ask for more

Review 50:Nothing

Review 51:Lovely location on the seafront. Lovely comfortable room with everything we needed. Good breakfast choices. Friendly, helpful staff. Appreciated the takeaway drinks facility. Nice touch.

Review 52:Wifi did not work in the morning. Receptionist could not fix and seemed annoyed or doubted the problem was theirs

Review 53:Great location. Charming place. The extra money to get ocean view is worth it (and I almost never say that).

Review 54:The hotel tries to mitigate noise and smoke, but humans are humans. You can't just shut out the world, nor should you want to, at this hotel right off the beach. That dicotomy, the desire to be alone in paradise vs the need to open the place up was the only blemish, and I'm not sure it even counts.

Review 55:THE VIEW. And the staff.

Review 56:The breakfast room is too small for all guests to sit down in, which makes for a big struggle in the morning to get a seat and eat comfortable.

Review 57:Location right on the beach in a quiet area in town. Many restaurants and shops near by and of course Hearst castle within 15 minutes driving distance. Very good beds (we slept in one room with our kids of 18 and 20) and well decorated rooms, with good space for 4 adults to move around in. Breakfast is very nice too.

Review 58:Wifi was nonexistant. They kept rebooting the server and it did nothing,no signal whatsoever. A big deal in a town with no cell phoneconnection. Rooms were too hot. Get a window fan that works or a/c,or else don't charge peak rates in the summer. Very small rooms.Front desk staff were spacy / rude. When I walk in the room of a 20-room hotel and the front desk doesn't even look up from whateverthey're doign and when *I* say "Hi, how are you" theymerely say "Fine" - something is wrong with your stafftraining practices.

Review 59:Breakast was nice - waffle makers, nice attentive woman working there.Proximity to beach was good. Unfortunately that was about it.

Review 60:Front desk staff was very unprofessional and not apologetic when told they were the reason we left early. Will not be going there again.

Review 61:The location was perfect.

Review 62:our room was too warm…….as if heater were on even with windows open……...

Review 63:cross the street, you're at the beach……..relaxing for am and pm coffee or strolls…….staff very cordial

Review 64:Would prefer flatter pillow but not a problem.

Review 65:Not used to the high price but understand it's market driven. Really liked the front desk woman and young man- they are very professional and are good representatives for the Sand Pebbles.

Review 66:The room was beautiful and comfortable. The location iwas fabulous. The breakfast was great. The amenities of coffee and sparking cider in the lobby was very nice.

Review 67:Moonstone beach and Cambria are iconic California locations. The Sand Pebble is a hotel that lives up to and showcases this landscape perfectly. Not every room has a perfect view but the location and the top notch staff make this small hotel ideal.

Review 68:Wifi was a little patchy but good enough to cope with what we needed.

Review 69:It's easy to tell from the offset this was going to be a nice place. We checked in late but they left polite instructions for us at the door. Attractive, well furnished and clean to a fault. The rooms were stylish yet comfy and the breakfast offered plenty of options. The breakfast room is small but there was a table and chairs in our room too. Overall just a lovely place to spend the night.

Review 70:The breakfast was ok, but a small cramped area to sit and eat.

Review 71:Great location across the street from the beach. Fresh coffee and tea in the lobby all day is a nice touch. This property is well maintained and beautifully rejuvenated.

Review 72:Nothing was bad.

Review 73:We really enjoyed our short stay at Cambria & the Sand Pebbles Inn. When we first arrived we couldn't see the ocean due to the incoming fog! But the staff were very helpful & told us that it would clear by morning- & it did. Lovely king size bed & good size bathroom.

Review 74:I do not see the need to have a staff member to make the waffles and have a Tip jar prominently displayed. We know how to make waffles using these exact machines. Wardrobe doors didn't slide easily. The agreement to a late check-out was not passed on to housekeeping. Paper cups for in-room coffee which cannot be used in the microwave.

Review 75:Location

Review 76:The staff was so accommodating of our family and we loved the area. The kids slept comfortable in cribs in the room with us and we were across from the beautiful beach where they could run around. Breakfast in the morning was great and overall it couldn't have been a better fit for a quick trip up the coast.

Review 77:Nothing bad to say except that the breakfast area could be larger.

Review 78:Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Delicious breakfast aided by friendly ,unobtrusive staff.Loved the cookies on the door handle and the hot drinks available at tea time after a day out. Corner room downstairs meant a sea view along with peace and quiet highly recommende

Review 79:Our time there was too short, only one night :(((((

Review 80:This place is a little gem, very clean, friendly, relaxing and very comfy. The bed is the best, we slept like the babies. It was wonderful to sleep with our windows open, because you can hear the waves. Cookies and chocolates are nice touch.the fireplace is great, plenty of towels, delicious breakfast. Proximity to the water and the boardwalk with amazing sunset was great. Highly recommend. Staff is the friendliest ever!!!!!!

Review 81:The bathtub mar slipped several times and I would like to of had a large magnifying make-up mirror.

Review 82:Upscale feeling with the fireplace and the nice bed. Oh and location!

Review 83:We arrived late, only to see that nobody is at the lobby and door locked. Needed to put all luggage back to the car and drive to another hotel to get the keys. We were very tired and not expecting this.

Review 84:The room was beautiful, clean. The fireplace was nice. Free Wi-Fi.

Review 85:They need more tables for breakfast but the waffles were good,

Review 86:I loved the location of this property, it's right on the beach absolutely stunning. Cambria is the most quaint lovely place I shall remember for ever. Try the Sows ear for dinner it was suoerp and such an adorable property.

Review 87:Our room was very comfortable, clean, and cozy. It has a nice fireplace already going when we entered the room. It was right across the beach where we could take our morning stroll. Overall, a great experience, and great value for the cost

Review 88:Only the basic bathroom but the place was immaculate

Review 89:Drove from San Fran to Los Angeles and this was our stop. Wished we had had this as stop two. Hotel is on moonstone beach and directly opposite a walkway n steps to the beach. It doesn't feel like a hotel but like being at home. Loved the wooden shutters and the bedroom decor. The bathroom is basic but adequate for a one night stay. I've seen other reviews about the breakfast room being small but I think they are unfair as if you go outside peak 9am time there's no problem, I would stay here again without hesitation. Get there before sunset.

Review 90:Everything was great including the continental breakfast. The only flaw we had was the internet was really slow.

Review 91:They upgraded us to a suite with a view of the ocean from our room as well as a patio overlooking the ocean. It was our honeymoon and I asked upon arrival if they could do anything for us and they did.

Review 92:Couldn't stay longer!

Review 93:The ocean view is gorgeous and very accessible. Dining close by ---could walk if choosing. Cozy room with fireplace and nice breakfast.

Review 94:Wish there would have been better water pressure in the shower.

Review 95:We love Cambria and have tried several hotels on Moonstone Beach, and I think this will be one of our top favorites. The room was comfortable and charming, the staff was friendly, and the location was great.

Review 96:They have thought of everything at this hotel... from cookies at check-in to a wonderful complementary breakfast which was more than just the typical continental breakfast to the glass cleaner and windshield washer in the parking lot!

Review 97:We had the windows open all night, in the winter, in the rain. It felt like Florida in the summer. We couldn't sleep. Some of the staff were sweet, and some just wanted your Visa card and could care less who you were. It wasn't worth $200 a night....no way.

Review 98:The bed was A+ quality. The location couldn't have been better.

Review 99:nothing

Review 100:we had a lovely warm welcome by reception staff with suggestions for a restaurant for dinner and booking Hearst Castle. their attention to detail was exceptional, such as complimentary umbrellas, different types of tea and cloths for cleaning the car windscreen. breakfast was ample and plenty of choices.

Review 101:Would have liked outdoor area for dining or just relaxing. Chairs inside the room could have been more comfortable. DVD player did not work.

Review 102:Appreciated the comfortable bed & the sounds of the ocean. Parking, Lobby & Breakfast room locations easily accessible. Staff was very friendly.

Review 103:The remodel should have invested more money in the bathroom fixtures. Had to have the hot water knob fixed. Breakfast is pretty ordinary. I guess ok if u have kids. Ate at Linn's the second morning.

Review 104:Location is unbeatable!

Review 105:Was a nice spot to land between Carmel and Santa Barbara. Close to Hearst Castle and the Elephant Seal Rookery. We were only there one night and didn't get to enjoy the beach, but a nice restaurant with a big patio was down the street and very pleasant at night.

Review 106:Loved our accommodation at Sand Pebbles Inn. Great location and views.Room was excellent with a partial view of the water. Dinner a few steps away at Moonstone Bar and Grill was fantastic. SP Inn Breakfast was great, had plenty of variety. Definitely would recommend.

Review 107:Although breakfast was still made available to guests in the kitchen, we missed the meals we received in our room over our stay last year. For some reason the mattress was not comfortable this time around; it did not provide a good level of support.

Review 108:The inn is very nice, clean and welcoming. The linens are great and the amenities (shampoo, conditioner, etc) were a great brand. The location on the coast is ideal - if you leave your windows open you can hear the crash of the surf all night long!

Review 109:A charming inn and a room with a view of the ocean waves made a lovely stop for our CA coastal drive vacation. Excellent Continental breakfast, too. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Review 110:The term "ocean view" room was a bit of a stretch. There was a very small area by the side window with a view of the ocean.

Review 111:Clean, comfortable, nice breakfast, great location

Review 112:The rooms were nicely updated as well as the continental complimentary breakfasts. I would like to add that Lupe checked us in and was the perfect first contact as well as the rest of the staff, all extremely friendly!

Review 113:We didn't like that the room was hot in the night. The room has a fan but it was by one side of the room.

Review 114:We liked the place where it's located. The Moonstone Beach is crossing the road. You can sleep while you listen the waves of the sea. The hotel is near (by car) to the town (that is so cute). The personal was nice, and the room was clean. Also, the breakfast was included and it was nice too.

Review 115:Nothing here not to like, we LOVED it all!!!!

Review 116:Cozy comfortable room with spacious bath. Located right across the road from the boardwalk and beach - quaint area with all the charm of a beach town. Easy walking distance to the Moonstone Grill - amazing place - best dinner our entire trip - we were wishing we had a week to stay in this place instead of a short evening and overnight - when we get the opportunity, we'll go back.

Review 117:What's not to like? Oh one thing...the hallways and office area was SO HOT!! OMGosh it was painful walking through them but other than that everything was great. Can't wait to return.

Review 118:We had a corner room with a terrific view. The staff was great, we had to change a flat tire on our bike so we got back right at check out time but the staff was nice enough to give us an extra 30 mins to shower. Woohoo. Breakfast was great, the attendant was very sweet.

Review 119:There was no a/c and the breakfast was very ordinary store bought sweet rolls. Common area in stuffy basement.

Review 120:Only stay here if you get an ocean front room.

Review 121:Cambria is a wonderful location and Sand Pebbles is a wonderful accommodation. We were on a 2 week trip from Portland OR to San Diego CA. We spent 2 nights at Sand Pebbles and it was definitely a highlight of our trip. The room was wonderful with views of the sea, breakfast was delicious and the service was excellent. We chose this location because we planned to visit Hearst Castle (which is quite close). Located across from the ocean and ocean walk, we enjoyed the serenity and beauty of Cambria. We highly recommend Sand Pebbles.

Review 122:Room and breakfast area a little small.

Review 123:Nice location. Beach and restaurants in walking distance. Also nice walking/ running path. Breakfast was decent. Hotel lent us beach chairs and towels.

Review 124:Bed soft. Tv not work

Review 125:Location. Staff

Review 126:I hope they will have a little better breakfast room.

Review 127:Location is great, you can look at Pacific Ocean directly and feel amazing.

Review 128:Very clean, comfortable temperature. Extremely friendly staff, coffee all day! and wonderful breakfast. Can't wait to go back.

Review 129:Not a fan of soft water, although we recognize some may appreciate it.

Review 130:All staff is attentive, accommodating, diligent.

Review 131:Cute place, friendly people. Right on the water with a nice walkway across the street for exploring.

Review 132:Great location and comfortable rooms
