Reviews for Auberge Le Poulagou
Review 1:I did not hear back from them in response to the message that I sent with my booking, so had to try again a few times to get a response about the transport to and from the airport. The driver said that I could pay for the hotel in American Dollars, so I did not change any at the airport, but then they could not accept US at the hotel as the cashier had gone home. I asked for a wake up call (no alarm clock in the room). I am not sure if he just saw my light on and did not bother coming to knock, but he never did, nor did he acknowledge that. The wifi barely worked in my room, even though I was on the main floor in the courtyard. No mosquito nets were hung, through there was a frame to do so. I was told it was not the season, but he could hang one if I wanted, but I did not bother. There were screens on the windows and the mosquitos were not a problem. I could see it being loud there if there were more people and with the bar, but there was almost no one there. The area is not great, but once in the hotel, you are fine.
Review 2:They arranged a pick up at the airport and are very close (7 minutes to hotel; 4 minutes back to airport). The rooms were clean, with good sheets, towels, and hot water. There was a bar, and they sold water. Free wifi. The staff was helpful, and I think spoke English, though I communicated in French. Cheap and close to airport. Possibly a good place to explore the north shore of Dakar from. It is on the beach.
Review 3:Too many flies. Too much noise. Poor environment. Expensive hostel food. Very inconsistent wifi.
Review 4:I liked the staff whom were friendly. The cost of living in the hostel is relatively low too.
Review 5:Staff was very friendly.
Review 6:situated next to a lively and interesting beach. very welcoming. good value. clean. good food. convenient for airport. would definitely like to return.
Review 7:Wi-fi not available in room. Bar and breakfast ridiculously expensive in comparison to prices local...like 20m away we were able to purchase breakfast at a 10th of the price demanded at the Auberge .
Review 8:The Auberge is ideally situated near to the Airport in Darkar, welcoming after a flight of some 12 hours! Located in a small town, village provides the opportunity to mingle with the local people and my kids had the time to get accustomed to the change before hitting Dakar city. The first room offered was poorly adapted to a family, the offered upgrade was like day and night. Spacious room, good lighting, hot water and good water pressure.
