Reviews for Mariners Inn Cambria

Review 1:Flooring and tile scraper tile off bumpy floor impossible to keep clean. No smoke detector in room multipurpose shampoos and conditioners used by all guests unsanitary.wires for TV to close the heater unit.

Review 2:Bed and TV.

Review 3:The town of Cambria food rating for their restaurants in general. Mariners breakfast was a ten compared to food ate in Cambria. By the time we left this town star buck's and McDonald's had moved up the list of fine dining.

Review 4:Location, location

Review 5:The clean comfortable room and friendly helpful staff were very much appreciated! We will definitely consider the Mariners Inn when we return to Cambria!

Review 6:The room didn't even have a table ... or a dresser. No place to put anything! No coffeepot. We were there for 5 days and you had to keep juggling. We couldn't close the bathroom door which they couldn't fix so we bought a pair of pliers to use on the door ...?!!!

Review 7:The location is wonderful and facility was very clean. The updated rooms looked better than the one we had. New owners and probably too early to tell.

Review 8:Toilet plumbing didn't work well. In room refrigerator was noisy. Décor had not been updated in many years. Deadbolt door lock did not work with the room key.

Review 9:Best pricing in Cambria for a Moonstone ocean location. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

Review 10:Breakfast was terrible. No half and half even for coffee. Cheapest bagels and rolls hot tub advertised but didn't work. Remote for tv didn't work.

Review 11:Location

Review 12:outside of the facility is pretty tore down and rusty but I guess anything else the price would have been much higher

Review 13:the rooms where simple but clean and the bed is comfi ..and that is whats essential. Staff was friendly and coffee was great and nothing beats the view..

Review 14:The rooms were not that clean as there were spider webs all over the room. I even found a big spider near the door and had to get rid of it before my wife saw it, as she is afraid of insects

Review 15:The Inn has easy access to the beach as it is across the street from it. Very easy check in and one can easily get good night sleep. The place around the hotel is amazing and was worth getting off the 101 just for this place as we were traveling from LA to San Francisco.

Review 16:Room walls are paper thin so you hear every conversation and snore from the next room. Critically needs sound insulation. Worn furniture, fixtures, floor and room finishes. Camile said they were now undertaking a total renovation of all rooms and reception/breakfast area. None too soon as I could not recommend in current, worn and old condition. I'm sure new owners will address these issues as a model room was under construction.

Review 17:Receptionist Camile was professional and immediately moved us to a nicer, larger room when I reported that our faucet sprayed water all over the sink. She showed interest in our comfort. View of ocean from breakfast nook was super. Ocean with boardwalk just across street. Cambria and Castle within 10-15 minutes.

Review 18:Room could have been a little bigger and parking lot is hard to get out of, water pressure in sink wasn't much there

Review 19:Great being right across the street from the beach, price was just right

Review 20:The room was not what I booked. I booked 2 double beds with a fireplace. I was showed to a room that had one double no fireplace very small and right next to the office. I cancelled that room and stayed somewhere else.

Review 21:The location was good.

Review 22:Love the newly remodled room.

Review 23:I loved that it was quaint & charming. The staff was friendly. Rooms were clean & simple. Beds very comfortable.

Review 24:The motel needs to be upgraded--at least.

Review 25:It's on the Pacific Coast.

Review 26:Room way too dated & rustic, floor worn thru, door kept sticking, curtains not darken room enough

Review 27:Easy access to beach; helpful staff

Review 28:There are no comments available for this review

Review 29:comfort hospitality view WHATS NOT TO LIKE!!!!!

Review 30:Rather tired interior

Review 31:Fantastic view and location. Comfortable beds.

Review 32:The decor is very dated and a bit funky.

Review 33:The bed and linens were very clean and comfortable. Towels were also very clean.

Review 34:Stairs into room, size of the room

Review 35:We liked the location, parking in front of our room. Location of bathroom, closet. Comfortable bed. Good breakfast

Review 36:Under reconstruction

Review 37:Location customer service and comfort

Review 38:Cement floors in room

Review 39:Wish I could of stayed a week

Review 40:Excellent service and great view of ocean , will be back again

Review 41:Staff were sensationally helpful in making sure we had great recommendations of activities and restaurants. New management are eager to please. Highly recommend.

Review 42:Area rug was very stained & looked dirty. While it looked they were repainting and trying to upgrade, they need to take a little more time to sand areas and make it look more professional. Needs deodorizer sprayed in rooms.

Review 43:Loved the view from room #1. Location to moonstone excellent. Staff was very friendly & welcoming.

Review 44:The location was perfect, right on the waterfront and close enough to walk to shopping and food if you wanted too. There was a pretty good continental breakfast with plenty to choose from. The staff was more than willing to answer questions about the area and make suggestions about what to see.

Review 45:Had requested and been confirmed(I called the day before to confirm) fora double room with fireplace. Was not available when we arrived. Theydid however, reduce the price but didn't like having a switch madeon the room.

Review 46:The rooms are more like cottages. Very comfortable. Big windows to enjoythe sea breeze. Location was the best feature. Walk across the street tothe Moonstone Beach!

Review 47:Outdoor faucet didn't work. Would be nice to be able to rinse sand off from beach.

Review 48:Perfect mid-point location for San Francisco to LA via US 1/101 trip. Great views and access to beach. Friendly staff. Large rooms.

Review 49:In the rooms, it looks like the owners did just enough work to hide allthe defects and at best, the workmanship is very poor. In the bathroomthe fan was so noisy that I think the walls vibrate. The tv receptionwas lousy; every station was grainy looking, not very clear. Concerningyour continental breakfast, I do not believe I have ever seen a wholebagel that thin, it was as thick as a piece of bread. The wholecontinental breakfast was not very appealing. You want to see what acontinental breakfast should look like, go to a Quality Inn. My wife andI didn’t expect a lot but we didn’t expect it to be this bad either!

Review 50:Nothing! We were very happy!

Review 51:The staff was extremely friendly, accommodating, and knowledgable. While the rooms were fairly basic, they were extremely clean and comfortable. The location was fantastic.

Review 52:Its a little more than what were used to but worth the extra money.

Review 53:My family Loved Loved this hotel! We got 2 rooms, one for our older children and one for me & husband. We plan on coming back next year. Right by the beach.

Review 54:The hotel needs renovations. The room had seen better days and the insulation is thin. The fireplace facing was broken up all over and needed replacing. The breakfast is not much.

Review 55:We know the location well and it is beautiful. you can walk on the beach and walk to the restaurant.

Review 56:We have stayed at 3 places on Moonstone Beach. None of them are terrifical comfortable or first rate in terms of amenities. You pay for the location. The bf area at Mariners Inn was uncomfortable and too small. The rooms all face the parking lot. The rooms, while spacious, are only semi-remodelled and have some quirks. The refrigerator was so noisy, we had to unplug it.

Review 57:The location is what makes the visit. Moonstone Beach is a beautiful piece of the California coast. The boardwalk is exceptional. Our room was quiet and spacious. The staff had a positive attitude.

Review 58:Fabulous location on the beach in Cambria. A proper American motel where you can park outside your door. Really good value for money - we loved staying here. Highly reccommend it.

Review 59:The reception area doubles as breakfast room, which can get crowded at times.

Review 60:Great location at the seaside, a hiking path along the sea right in front of the door. Restaurants with good seafood along the seaside 10 minutes on foot away. Cambria is a pleasant little tourist town with very friendly people and nostalgic charm.

Review 61:We really enjoyed our stay at Mariners Inn. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable. Close to great restaurants and shopping. Will definitely come back.

Review 62:Its a long walk in to town where all the bars are

Review 63:Excellent location on the coast. Room very clean and has been updated, stopped for 1 night during our trip down the PCH.The Cambria ale house is a must go to.

Review 64:Breakfast was bread, eggos, thawed frozen bagels, Cheerios, not great yogurt. We all ate and were full, but it really could be improved with some small touches--fresh fruit, fresh muffins.

Review 65:The Inn and our room had a lot of character. We loved the little touches like the nautical theme and the fireplace. Everything was very comfortable and clean. And the location can't be beat.

Review 66:The room had pretty much all we needed, but it is not a luxurious room, if that is what you're looking for. The bathroom was clean, but the lights flickered often and the tub's paint is peeling, honestly not big problems or issues. Also, our sheet had the tiniest stain on it, most likely some red wine.

Review 67:Beds were comfortable. The proximity to the ocean was fantastic, just across the street. The man at the front desk recommended an amazing seafood restaurant/oyster bar that was literally only one building down. We walked there, had wine and dinner, and walked back with a stop at the ocean. Pretty perfect. Also, I liked that all the bath products and toilet paper were earth-friendly and organic.

Review 68:Shower sucked. Hot then cold then warm then cold. Way over priced. Mademorel 6 look good. Cont breakfast was a joke. Tv in room was static, fuzzy. Alarm clock buzzed every 3 to 10 minutes. Had to unplug it

Review 69:The area is super beautiful and hotels around very expensive. This one gives you great value for money. Room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is just coffee and tosts, but for the money saved you go to nice restaurant :) Try Indigo Moon Cafe at the center of Cambria.

Review 70:Location was excellent, 5 miles to a day at Hearst Castle. Queen double, very comfortable beds, the gas fireplace and spa tub were really nice. Good coffee!

Review 71:If you are looking for a big breakfast then I would not recommend the Continental breakfast.

Review 72:The room was very comfortable. It wasn't a big room but served its purpose. The room was very clean and the staff was very friendly.

Review 73:It was an older motel that had been updated but it felt small. The parking was very cramped.

Review 74:The location is fabulous. The upper patio with the lounge chairs/windscreen was peaceful and offered a lovely view of the beach.

Review 75:I didn't like how our room was decorated. The full-sized wine barrels for nightstands were odd. Also, the remodeled areas looked amateurish, for example, the trim-moulding around a piece of granite when you walk into the room, the rough-finish on the bathroom walls, and the calking around the tub. Also, the continental breakfast was unimaginative--straight out of Costco (Frosted Flakes, bagels, yogurt with apartame, orange juice, coffee); it was a high carb offering with no fresh fruit, eggs, or meat--like I said unimaginative.

Review 76:The inn is right on the beach near a very nice walking path. There is a nice, protected view/observation area to have a cup of coffee in the morning or in the evening. Also, there was a small microwave and refrigerator in our room (#2).

Review 77:Had some noisy neighbors and could hear their late night laughing and conversations. A ceiling fan would be nice instead of just a window and complimentary breakfast could be improved.

Review 78:Great location. Comfy rooms. Great price

Review 79:The rooms are spartan, and that's being kind. The sign outside said" newly renovated." really? The designer must have been abroke high school kid with no taste and no money. Wine barrels fortables. There were not even drawers to put away clothes, and the poorwindow coverings assure a crack of dawn wake-up. Also, the cable tv didnot receive the network channels. Not a particularly comfortableexperience.

Review 80:Location is great, the bed was ok, the room seemed to be clean.

Review 81:I wish they had a pool but it was still an excellent choice hotel!

Review 82:5min drive to the Hearst Castle, on the beach with beautiful views, enjoyed the upper deck, the fireplace was a nice touch to our room, an the jacuzzi tub for two was great. The beds were comfortable and the room spacious enough for 4 with lots of luggage. Close walk to a great restaurant and a market/liquor store.

Review 83:Breakfast - needed to have healthier cereals (ie porridge or granola). Leaving.

Review 84:Location of hotel. Comfort, cleanliness and facilities within room. Reasonable rates for longer stays.

Review 85:we thought the floors were cold and hard. For a king room, we thought there should have been at least a double sink or vanity for two people to get ready.

Review 86:the location across from the beach was nice. We liked the jaccuzi tub and the bed was comfortable. access to the hotel was easy from the highway.

Review 87:At check in, I was booked for 2 dbl. beds. There was no double available, so the gal put us in a King room for my aunt and I. (she reduced the cost for the inconvience)

Review 88:Motel/hotel right on coast...fantastic. Room was clean. Price was reduced for our Saturday night.

Review 89:kind of a grim room, slate gray walls, floor, view to parking lot. Floor was 3-4 levels and I kept tripping on the odd ups and downs. No chest of drawers. Would have used an extra blanket, guide to tv channels needed

Review 90:Quiet, no early a.m noises, spa-bath, location, available for 6 nights, very good light to read by, barrel tables, across the street from ocean and boardwalk, good fridge, fireplace, shelves. Didn't try the breakfast

Review 91:Room was small, no storage space, no closet, no drawers. Barely space to walk around the king-sized bed, with dog kennel and suitcases. Free continental breakfast was pretty marginal (worth what we paid for it). No grass, just parking lot between rooms.

Review 92:We picked Mariner's for holiday weekend because price was less excessive than the other motels on Moonstone Beach, and because it takes pets. Staff was very nice. Bed was comfortable. Room was good for pet (industrial carpet). Setting is spectacular, and sun deck with windshield is great. Quiet.

Review 93:No dressers/drawers - you can't move in. You have to live out of your suitcase.

Review 94:Location, right across the street from Moonstone Beach. Kingsize bed.

Review 95:The staff was so helpful with extra chairs and extra towels. We had a problem in the early morning that was quickly handled by Susanna. All of the staff was helpful and friendly. The Inn is a great value for the location.

Review 96:The jets on the tub didn't work, and the towel rack came out of the wall.

Review 97:The location was ideal and the decor was appealing for the most part. I think the walls could have used a little more decoration.

Review 98:1. Problems with the hot water2. Room decor was makeshift to redo old decor. 3. TV remote did not work 4. No info in the room or anywhere re wi fi, TV channels 5. Phone did not work to call front desk to request help with these issues. 6. Continental breakfast was very cheap and poor. 7. It appeared that as hard as the staff tried, the new owner was so cheap that the guests did no count anthe quality to the guests suffered.

Review 99:1. In Cambria which we love2. Near the ocean 3. We appreciated the staff's attempt to provide customer service by refunding some of the room charge because of problems with the room.

Review 100:Toilet/tub area is extremely tight. Looks like the bathroom and sink area was remodeled however it was a dyi project for sure. Large side tables are fun idea but not practical height.

Review 101:Location is really great. Beautiful Moonstone Beach across the street. Room was comfortable and quiet. We had no problem with our heater-- warmed room fairly quickly. We enjoyed using the upper deck area for lovely sea view lunch.

Review 102:Microwave would have been nice, but used the one in lobby.

Review 103:Location-glassed in upper deck-wind was strong-breakfast as advertised-ok for a starter-beds confortable-everthing very clean

Review 104:no furniture in dog friendly rooms, needs chairs and table. the feed back noise from phone and clock kept us awake. had to unplug

Review 105:across from beach, breakfast

Review 106:Uneven cement floor. Very dark DIY decore. No microwave. Semi-cold fridge. Bland offerings for Continental Breakfast. (In a town noted for its baked goods!) No drawers or cabinets to store clothes or other items. And only 1 suitcase rack. Only 1 chair in room and no table. No "Do Not Disturb" placard. No info card for phone or cable TV. No safety hand rail for deep tub.

Review 107:The price. Location. Free wifi. Indoor jacuzzi tub. King bed.

Review 108:Breakfast was cheap. Clock alarm had to be unplugged due to interference from mobile phones. Could still hear same noise from next room all night long. Grey paint is depressing.

Review 109:Very comfortable bed. Room was very clean. Quiet despite being close to Highway 1. Barrels and reeds made for a pleasant non-standard decor. Room temperature was good day and night.

Review 110:Room needs a microwave hook in bathroom for robe would be nicehousekeeper dind;t leave towels or supplies ,2nd night

Review 111:Beach access,sundeck and location

Review 112:Room missing luggage rack holder missing hook in bathroom for robehousekeeper didn't supply towels ,2nd night ,had to retrive atthe desk. &Quot;breakfast" was very sparse. A microwave in roomwould help. Heater didn't work & had to get space heater& extra blankets

Review 113:Sundeck was wonderful!,location excellent and beach boardwalk very niceQuiet & clean, staff very helpful & nice upgrades nice

Review 114:Biggest disappointment was the lack of chairs and table. This is themain reason we will not return. Lighting poor, the hanging light glaredin your eyes when laying in bed. Floor was black and dirt stuck to it ?Very large closet unnecessary. Plug in for coffee pot not working.Bathroom window would not open.

Review 115:The location is fantastic, we love Cambria and Moonstone beach. The bedscomfortable, bathroom great. We liked the gas fireplace.

Review 116:It is really dated for instance you still use a key to open the door. It's suppose to be renovated but it was just painted. The room was cold but the heater did work.

Review 117:It was across the street from beach. Bed was comfortable.

Review 118:--the room booked was not what was advertised -total lack of sitting room -spase decor--- plywood floors painted black--headbords of rough hewn lumber---get rid of ridicoulous barrels for night tables -breakfast was also a NO show--- no effort what so ever -upon arrival reception staff was totally disconnected and appeared to be doing us a favor by checking us in

Review 119:the view

Review 120:I never stayed before but they said remodeled. Didn't look like it.Just nothing like the web site. Cold floors partially cement Justwasn't what I expected for that price. Noises from furnace.

Review 121:Location. I never stayed before but they said remodeled. Didn't looklike it. Just nothing like the web site. Cold floors partially cementJust wasn't what I expected for that price.

Review 122:We did not end up staying at the inn. The room was not appealing in theleast! The room was freezing. The painted concrete floor was chippingand dusty .The bathroom floor tile was cracked and uneven, obviously avery poor fix-it job. The only furniture in the room were wooden winebarrels and a shelf on the wall with towels on it. The bed and beddingdid look clean and comfortable but we did not stay the night. I wouldnot recommend this place to anyone.

Review 123:The front desk clerk was very friendly and understanding. We were ableto get a refund on our room.

Review 124:The sticky oil on part of the floor. Breakfast was so-so. No dark (healthy) bread and no fruit.

Review 125:Very good beds, adequate lighting. The good response of the manager (owner?) to the oil problem.

Review 126:I am used to staying at Marriotts so I was disappointed with how cheaply renovated the rooms were. Floors were uneven and seemed unfinished. Also would have loved to have had a microwave in the room. We booked two rooms; one King and one with two Queens. We paid the same price for each room and the Queen room had a fireplace and was much larger square footage wise. Also the King room was very cold and didn't seem to have a heater; the fireplace in the queen room was kept on consistently for 2 days.

Review 127:I liked the fact it was so close to the beach shore and to Hearst Castle.

Review 128:The poor facilities in the room which was dark and bare. The very thin blankets.

Review 129:The breakfast view

Review 130:upgrades are starting this fall according to staff

Review 131:Staff , location and price

Review 132:Very comfortable. Nice and quiet and excellent location.
