Reviews for The Lodge at Big Sky

Review 1:The pool was cold and the beds were old and small. Pillows were terrible and I should have requested different ones. Breakfast could be lots better

Review 2:I liked the staff. I loved the location. I wished for the lounge to be a little warmer. The view from both sides of the building. My sister had a room facing south and the view was equally beautiful.

Review 3:It is way too remote. When we were there all local restaurants were closed. Guests should be informed of this before arrival. It's a huge hotel, yet when we got there, there was only 1 other couple there. A little creepy.

Review 4:Realize breakfast is till 9.30am,, but we were busy eating and exactly 9.30 food was taken away!

Review 5:Great location and staff were friendly and very helpful

Review 6:This is not the hotels fault, but we happened to have pouring rain during our entire drive up the mountain, snowflakes and cold on the way back - but I am sure the scenery through the valley on a sunny day must be breathtaking.

Review 7:We were very impressed with the size of the room and its 12' high ceiling. You could dance in there if you felt like it! The Great Room by the lobby which is used for breakfast is furnished in a style that goes well with comfortable sofas in front of the fireplace. Breakfast was very good and offered a lot of variety. When we got there, a male and female moose were grazing in the backyard! the first ones we saw during our travel in Yellowstone Park - amazing!

Review 8:When we asked about places for hiking and biking we were only told about services in the immediate area of the lifts and not the whole valley. A list of local hikes and bike rentals would have been helpful. Same for restaurants.

Review 9:Pleasant stay. Staff tried hard to be very helpful.

Review 10:Would be nice is the breakfast was varied a little bit, seemed to be the same eggs and pancakes and biscuits & gravy every morning

Review 11:Very comfortable room and facilities

Review 12:The only thing i didnt like was that there was only one elevator, but it was located in the center of the hotel.

Review 13:Absolutly loved this hotel. Rooms were very big and clean, beds were comfortable with great quality blankets and pillows. The outdoor hot tubs, which there were 3 of, were a nice added bonus. Staff was courtious and helpful. Lobby was marvolously appointed. This is a family owned hotel that has great rooms with great rates. I will rent this hotel for the summer to visit yellowstone, about an hour drive from the west gate, and during the winter for skiing because they take you to the base camp for the lifts. There is also sightseeing from the lifts as well. I recommend this for wonderful summer and winter vacationing. One more thing the breakfast was great, biscuits and gravy as well as fried potatoes.

Review 14:Wifi didn't work (or barely worked) in the room. There was a constant (completely unusual and disruptive) hissing noise all night coming from the heating vent. Nice place but possibly overpriced for the location during the off-season.

Review 15:Beautiful area, nice outdoor jacuzzis, comfortable room.

Review 16:The lodge is beautiful, clean and just wonderful!!! We plan to return for a longer stay next time! The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Best place we stayed on our trip and the price was great.

Review 17:A lot of money for a one-night stop-over ... there's nothing there there in the summer.

Review 18:The Cabin restaurant is excellent. One block walk from hotel.

Review 19:Unfortunately, terrible smell on hall carpet. Breakfast could be improved (omelette was a nice touch but leave out the processed cheese!)

Review 20:Room was spacious and clean and had a beautiful view - really gorgeous room.

Review 21:Nothing.

Review 22:Beautiful location, clean and spacious room, good breakfast. Gentlemen at the front desk were helpful and offered great suggestion for dinner.

Review 23:Breakfast. Do not like steamed eggs. Many choices, but to many carbs, as a diabetic these are bad.

Review 24:The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Clean..

Review 25:The area was very pricey and we weren't close to a grocery store or gas station.

Review 26:Beautiful view of the mountains, outside hot tubs and wonderful free breakfast.

Review 27:Ripped curtains, dripping faucets, noisy air conditioner kept us awake all night. Breakfast was a joke. One person to man the desk AND oversee breakfast. Out of food by 7:30 am and it was not replenished.

Review 28:Property was not maintained. Window was broken when we came and requested that it be fixed. It was fixed the next day and should have been fixed upon arrival

Review 29:Nice big room with two queen size beds. Staff friendly

Review 30:Breakfast wasn't that great. The hot tubs were not functional. After I told them that they resolved the issue for one of the hot tubs.

Review 31:Friendly staff

Review 32:Excellent value and the staff, especially Shivam, the general manager, go out of their way to make your stay as pleasurable as you can get. The shuttle to the main ski area is a bonus!

Review 33:The location is great - very close to the lifts a short walk or a minute ride on the shuttle. The staff in particular the front desk manager was terrific. very friendly and helpful.

Review 34:The first night, the guests next door had a colicky, cranky toddler who screamed and cried starting at 3 am lasting for hours. Not much to be done but it made for a tough first ski day. They left after that night so the rest of the stay was fine.

Review 35:Great location, clean, comfortable room and bed, and friendly staff.

Review 36:Our kitchen had nothing in it, such as a glass or plate or even a knife. There was no recycling, and the only cups offered were Styrofoam cups wrapped in plastic. How anyone could still use that just baffles me. Finally, the breakfast must have been the worst continental breakfast I have ever had. Again, everything was Styrofoam, non reusable or compostable materials. There was not one morsel of real food provided. Everything was laden with chemicals and hormones. We literally could not find anything to eat. Even the peanut butter was chock full of additives. And the coffee was hardly a step up from hot water. No one in our party could eat the food or drink the coffee. I even heard another lady ask if the potatoes were even potatoes. It did not look like it. This was disappointing since that breakfast contributes to the inflated prices of the rooms. I am upset to have financially supported these practices.

Review 37:Beds were nice. Room was nice. Having a little fridge kitchen area would have been much nicer if any dishes had been included.

Review 38:Room was hot Asked for an upper floor, got bottom floor by parking lot/entrance - no privacy, couldn't keep window open to cool room Breakfast was kind of pitiful - powdered eggs, always out of something If your expectations are for an $80 a night hotel, you'll be fine

Review 39:Staff was friendly and tried hard Location was fine - walkable to the base area (although a little far in ski boots)

Review 40:The breakfast selection provided was really unappealing and staff weren't very forthcoming with information about the hotel. Facilities are a little outdated in parts.

Review 41:Locations was great and beds were comfortable. We also had a nice view from our room.

Review 42:The staff were very friendly and accommodating. It is located a short walking distance from the Village base area but their shuttle is very convenient.

Review 43:Breakfast was average. I was not keen on the disposable plates, cups and cutlery creating a huge amount of waste everyday.

Review 44:Lovely room, comfortable bed, quiet at night.

Review 45:The breakfast buffet was ok at best! Would have been nice to see a daily variety...some low carb and protein options! We supplemented our breakfast from a local grocery store.

Review 46:Loved the location! For two people the room was very nice. The staff was extremely friendly and accomadating!

Review 47:Extremely dry air. Basic bed and pillows. Basic and monotonous breakfast. A binder in room with list of services (including humidifier!) would have been helpful.

Review 48:Lobby area is beautiful. Great location. Plentiful free parking. Good size room. Good shower.

Review 49:There is not much I did not like

Review 50:The friendly staff; the breakfast, common room and bar where people can congregate, even order in Pizza for dinner. You can bring your own wine! While other hotels are perhaps more elegant and with more amenities, the Lodge is sufficient and family friendly.

Review 51:I was not able to ski and would have enjoyed my pet dog.

Review 52:Location and value , friendliness of the staff. coffee in the lounge and the fireplace. Shuttle to the slopes was nice for my family.

Review 53:Sofa sleeper was falling apart and beds were well overworn!!! Very disappointed compared to our stay 4 years ago. It's clear why the breakfast is free. It was awful and the eggs unedible!

Review 54:The location is great compared to other more expensive lodging in the area.

Review 55:Understaffed. Received no housekeeping, ran out of toilet paper in our room and had to change out my own garbage pails. Breakfast was barely edible. Worst food imaginable. No restaurant. Pool water was murky and looked dirty, indoor hot tub out of order. Room towels very thin and cheap. I don't think I would stay there again.

Review 56:Good location, the three staff members were friendly.

Review 57:Breakfast, while included, was marginal. Cold cereal was good! In October, trails for hiking and biking are generally closed. No restaurant options either up in Mountain Valley. Have to go down to the Meadows.

Review 58:Good location if skiing, large rooms and a great staff.

Review 59:Please add tea kettle for boiling water. Not all of us like to drink coffee. If used as a starting point into Yellowstone park is a relatively far (an hour and a half drive)

Review 60:Beautiful place, quiet and pleasant. Those who come to ski it the perfect place. In the summer the place can be used a starting point for hiking around the region.

Review 61:The room was big and very comfortable. Had an awesome view of the mountains behind. The breakfast was grand with many options. True value for money.

Review 62:Large tour buses that left early in the morning made it impossible to have breakfast. I felt sorry for the staff who couldn't keep up with the demand. Early morning noise in regards to the groups of tourists getting ready for the bus.

Review 63:Almost everything, very friendly, helpful staff. Rooms were very comfortable and clean.

Review 64:Nothing of note

Review 65:Big bright room was like a suite with good size fridge & microwave. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff Good location close to central plaza Good breakfast included

Review 66:No password for the wifi. Styrophome plates and bowls at breakfast (bad for the environment).

Review 67:We were there for a race and they let us check out late so we could shower before driving for a long distance. The man at the front desk was playful and helpful. They opened breakfast early for people who were participating in the race. The room was very comfortable.

Review 68:Too far off the beaten track. Good only for skiers Restaurants in area had VERY poor customer service. Italian restaurant turned us away at 8:15 because they had a group of 20 coming in at 9.

Review 69:Nothing

Review 70:The staff was extremely unprofessional, since they were mostly college students, and cared very little about the customers The ones that weren't students didn't even wear uniform. Two out of four days the only coffee machine was broken. When we came backto the hotel the first night, our room wasn't cleaned or made up. After discussion with the reception, on the next day they made our beds, but still didn't clean anything. On the day after, they cleaned our room but disabled our cards so we couldn't get in at first. After we got in we couldn't find any of our toothbrushes. Wouldn't go there again

Review 71:The Room was big and had a great view. The pool was available for a long time and it was clean. We got a map of the area and descriptions for the supermarkets right away

Review 72:Very disappointed, had to walk a long way with bags because the driveway and car park was being re-surfaced. No apology from desk staff or offer to move bags to car park.

Review 73:The staff was very friendly and young. They let us Check in early. The beds were comfortable and the Breakfast was a hot.one not just acontinental Breakfast like in other hotels. I thought it was alittle pricey but considering it is in a resort area I guess that isto be expected.

Review 74:Not many dining choices in the immediate area

Review 75:Numerousactivitiesfor both children and adults. Nice breakfast. Helpful staff and very clean, comfortable facilities. Reasonably priced. Would recommend to anyone.

Review 76:Refrigerator was broken, but we didn't realize it and our food spoiled + we had bought 2 ice cream treats at the hotel store and when we went to have them for dessert, they had melted all over and were inedible. Walls are thin and we had a very noisy neighbor thru an adjoining room door that kept us up both nights. How can you stomp around for an hour in such a small space and then cough and cough and get up 7 hours later and make noise all over again? The breakfast room had a bird flying around next to our table, poop on the sill and front doors were left open, thus the bird. Loud family at breakfast that was not asked to be quiet!

Review 77:Employees were nice, but very young. Nice views out window. Breakfast was good, room was nice looking and liked kitchenette with sink.

Review 78:No bacon offered at breakfast, the offerings good be improved.

Review 79:Greeted upon arrival, very friendly front counter staff and fast check - in. Rooms were larger than most and great views of the mountains. The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. F

Review 80:Over-priced. Room service was so-so...our room had 3 beds but only one had a mattress cover on it, we complained and they put on 2 more covers. Noisy cooling pipes in the ceiling (we were on the top floor). Some jacuzzi tub jets do not work. Scrambled eggs at breakfast were always very dry and artificial tasting like from a mix. Parking spot sometimes hard to find in the lodge's lot. Coffee provided in the rooms was a joke...awful. No ATM in the lodge. Only one small elevator...frequently suffered long waits and had to give up and take the stairs.

Review 81:Location is best feature....surrounded by unimaginably beautiful country and resort activities. Beds were comfy. Morning breakfast had decent variety of foods on offer.

Review 82:Whilst the hotel was good it was let down by the staff, which were young men who did not get on together and clearly did want to be there.

Review 83:Area was good with other facilities

Review 84:The breakfast area was a mess. And everything was out including coffee. Needed more staffing during busy time.

Review 85:The check in person was nice and helpful.

Review 86:The location was inconvenient for us, as we were primarily visiting Yellowstone. There was an hour-plus drive to the nearest park entrance. We also got tired of the long trip up the mountain from the village of Big Sky. Would be ideal if you are not intending to leave resort area.

Review 87:The Lodge at Big Sky is a very comfortable hotel, nice public areas and rooms are spacious. Enjoyed the hot tub and pool. Very quiet at night. Breathtaking views all around, and easy access to activities at the resort.

Review 88:The breakfast time was handled out front by only one young man and as a result the he got behind on making coffee and re-filling the food items in the peak rush time. Also there was no one to clean any tables.

Review 89:The room was very nice - corner on 3rd floor- so there was lots of light and great views. The in-room Ref was broken when we arrived but the staff responded very quickly and replaced it.

Review 90:accomondations were old/worn free breakfast was crazy busy clientel small pool was overused and did not look clean

Review 91:staff were friendly and helpful big room proximity to base camp nice assortment of breaky items

Review 92:Joe asst.mgr. and Robert, night auditor were incredibly helpful and had the best attitude and work ethic I have seen in a long time. Will be staying at The Lodge again because of them.

Review 93:Major screwup on my bill that has already caused me 3 phone calls and hasn't been resolved yet. I've been billed almost $450.00 MORE than my bill should be on 2 separate credit cards and although I'm sure it will be fixed, this has wasted my time and is causing me stress.

Review 94:Beauty of site, clean and comfortable room, breakfast was good.

Review 95:EVERYTHING~~what's not to like being in one of the most beautifulplaces on the planet. Staff was wonderful & friendly as can be &helpful. The view from our room was incredible for only $10 more, can't be beat!!!!!! Was a fantastic place to stay & will againas soon as I can!!!!

Review 96:Getting something to eat after 10pm was a pain expecially after a long drive and being a resort area.

Review 97:The hotel was very clean. MY family and I had an opportunity relax and enjoy our vacation.

Review 98:Bathroom was not clean when we arrived -- long hairs all over floor and tub. Bedding tired and poor quality. Staff pleasant but dressed too casually.

Review 99:Location, big room, good breakfast

Review 100:Although it only takes an hour to get there from the west gate of Yellowstone, that hour is very long after having been driving around Yellowstone all day! Also, the location was difficult to find the first night, in the dark, at the top of the mountain. Mapquest does not know where this place is so that didn't help. However, Joe, at the front desk was very helpful and patient when we called for directions.

Review 101:The staff was extremely friendly accommodating. We arrived tired and cranky and found that there was not a pull-out couch in our room. They gave us an extra room with a queen bed at no cost. For 2 nights! It was amazing and just the privacy our family needed after vacationing closely together for four days already.

Review 102:The only thing about our whole stay that we did not like was having to scrap our car windows on July 1st because it was 32 degrees. ha

Review 103:The view from our window looking at Lone Peak was amazing. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. When we asked for an ice bucket because it was not in our room the person at the desk Ryan brought the ice bucket FILLED to our room. Wonderful accomodations. We had an early tour at yellowstone and had to leave about 6am. Jim your night desk person went above and beyond and had the breakfast out before we left.

Review 104:Matresses, bedding, pillows were extremely uncomfortable and extremely worn out & out-dated....something from the 70's We did not get much sleep! :(

Review 105:Fantastic lobby view of mountain. Good location & friendly staff. Exterior of hotel looks impressive - but not the rooms.

Review 106:Everything! It's secluded with a gorgeous view. Very well furnished and even has a washer/dryer. Loved it, and wish we had had more time there. Great place to take a family.

Review 107:Beds weren't that comfy, breakfast not that great...but free...

Review 108:Location, lobby, manager was awesome, shuttle was nice.

Review 109:Mold in bath room

Review 110:Location

Review 111:Great location, great value, great included breakfast. Staff extremely nice and helpful!

Review 112:Cable tv limited. Glass by the pool. :(

Review 113:Breakfast buffet. Walk to lifts.

Review 114:Room was dirt when we got there! Breakfast sucks! Shuttle needs to run steady during busy times of the day Not enough room at breakfast

Review 115:Excellent people skills of the staff... From the gen mgr to Seth the bar tender... Excellent people to stay with on vacation

Review 116:Pool was cold. Hot tub looked dirty and there was only 1 glass in the kitchenette and it was dirty.

Review 117:The view. Room was spacious

Review 118:beautiful area

Review 119:The young men at the front desk at check-in and the next morning were very helpful and friendly.

Review 120:There was no meat (bacon etc) at the buffet breakfast.

Review 121:Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious.

Review 122:Very sllow and weak wi fi

Review 123:Very friendly and helpful staff. Good Breakfast.

Review 124:From a breakfast including omelets to wonderful staff to soft plush beds in spotless rooms, it had everything!

Review 125:Breakfast.

Review 126:Great staff. Very helpful front desk

Review 127:No wifi during stay

Review 128:Cleanliness

Review 129:Really friendly receptionist

Review 130:Fantastic view and very friendly staff.
