Reviews for Pointes North Beachfront Resort Hotel

Review 1:Having to go outside to the office/breakfast. Breakfast was disappointing -was only a few toaster items and instant oatmeal

Review 2:Nice hotel in good location

Review 3:The odd opening with the jacuzzi and the bathroom was a tad too un-private. The sidewalks and the parking lot didn't get cleared on Sunday. They were very quick to make this right for us.

Review 4:The staff was very friendly and quick to respond to any request. The room was much larger than I expected. The bed was much more comfortable than most hotel beds. The view outside the back door was beautiful.

Review 5:Noisy from the road noise and something was banging on the wall all night long. Lumpy pillows. They had keys for the doors to the outside. Should have been card keys. It really needs to be redecorated.

Review 6:Being on the bay - nice view.

Review 7:There was not a single thing I could complain about its an awesome place to stay I would recommend it to anyone!!!!

Review 8:I was so happy with my stay at points north I stayed for my birthday and not only did they put a special birthday message on there board in the lobby for me but the room was amazing I will be booking with them again thank you to the people who make point north what it is!!!!

Review 9:very comfortable nice and spacious and I liked having a sofa which allowed me and my wife to sit and relax with out having to sit on a bed or a kitchen chair, and the view was amazing

Review 10:The breakfast was limited - needed more and better quality. Would be nice to have a few amenities in the lobby like cookies and fruit and juice.

Review 11:Size and amenities of room.

Review 12:Super tiny flat screen TV. I know most people don't go on vacation to watch TV but my husband and I opted to watch the football game from our room; it was nearly impossible on the tiny tv. The cleanliness of the room was okay; bathtub was dirty which was disappointing.

Review 13:Location, and the fact that all room were facing the water. Jacuzzi tub was nice, but dirty.

Review 14:The resort was clean and neat. The facilities were poor. VP ' S are really outdated. Who uses those. Dated and old alarm clock. Just overall the facilities need to match the resorts day and time. 21st century please.

Review 15:Staff very friendly, warm, helpful.

Review 16:I thought furniture was outdated. The top of the sliding glass door would pop open due to heavy winds. Even with it locked.

Review 17:The staff was very friendly and the room was really clean. Having a bay view was excellent.

Review 18:The maid service knocking on our door at 9:00 am on a Saturday. I feel that you have taken away the small extras that we liked. Real wine glasses and coffee cups are now plastic.

Review 19:Location on the Bay.

Review 20:Interior stairways would be nice, but not a big deal to enter from outside.

Review 21:Loved the location with beach view. Room set-up a bit unusual with spa tub open into living area, but it worked fine for a couple - maybe not so good for a whole family! We would definitely return.

Review 22:We're very picky...but the continental breakfast and coffee left something to be desired.

Review 23:Comfortable & firm mattress, great views of the East Bay

Review 24:Beds and pillows could be more comfortable. We went out and purchased our own.

Review 25:The location is great! Right on the water with a beautiful beach. Rooms nicely appointed. I like that the toilet has it's own room, separate from the rest of the bathroom. The staff is very friendly and helpful!

Review 26:The price was a little high for the lack luster facility. Though it was nice, it didn't compare to the other hotels you drive by that are on the bay. They could maybe give it a face lift.

Review 27:The view was amazing and the continental breakfast was really impressive. Having a jacuzzi in every room was nice too. We didn't go in summer but the pool looks like it would be nice, and there appears to be a nice beach area.

Review 28:The only complaint is that late into the night and early morning hours I was kept awake by people moving around on the third floor above me.

Review 29:This is a very comfortable place to stay, conveniently located. The view of the east bay is incredible.

Review 30:Older property and needs updating. Hot tub bath tub in your sleeping room just doesn't do it for me.. Tiny shower.. Thin walls.. We were there when not many people were there, and when doors opened and closed, it was like in our room. The breakfast is in the office, with 4 small tables, which barely sat 2 people.

Review 31:The staff was unfriendly and made breakfast a torture while they tried to defrost the fridge with help of a hair dryer. Maybe I'm too European about this, but the excessive use of disposable dishes for breakfast makes me angry.

Review 32:Spacious rooms, beach view and a comfy bed.

Review 33:If you are counting on a typical breakfast at hotels this one will leave you somewhat disappointed. I believe they tried to do their best with limited space.

Review 34:The view over Traverse Bay was really very nice. The location was very good, and it was easy to get to plenty of restaurants and local sight-seeing.

Review 35:Although dated, everything in the room was in working order. I was alone so asked a lot of questions of the staff and they were all very friendly and nice to talk to. They didn't act like they didn't have time to talk to me, which made my trip all the more easy and fun. I was there for a combination of leisure and work travel and I got everything done I need to.

Review 36:The matress wasn't bad, just not what we're used to. A little too stiff for us.

Review 37:Very roomy and quiet. Close enough to everything, but not right in the middle of hustle and bustle. Every room has a great view of bay.

Review 38:Thanks for having a way to let you know how we felt of our experience. We felt finding a room that had a breakfast to be a very good thing, however when my wife and I went to go grab breakfast from the front office all of the breakfast was already put away.....I was wondering why this would be when checkout wasn't until 11:00am. So to be completely honest, this was very disappointing, when this was one of the deciding factors in staying at this establishment for our second time. Please take these words as corrective criticism, my hope being that this could be resolved for future guests.

Review 39:Carpet stained, Hairs on walls of shower, stains on the walls. We stayed there 8 years ago, but would never go again. We paid for 2 nites and left after one. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! Big Waste of Money.

Review 40:Location

Review 41:Breakfast was skimpy. Spider web over bed. Strange lay-out of room. Lighting very inadequate. Looked better outside than inside. Over-priced.

Review 42:Location.

Review 43:The hotel is dated, tired looking. It could use an updating, better structural maintenance.

Review 44:Great location, the staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean.

Review 45:Needs bit more room to put makeup on. Add a mirror on the outside wall? Small bathroom area. And a comfortable chair or two..

Review 46:View from the room and beach area..

Review 47:We booked this room because it was on the water and had water views but the furnishing layout did not take advantage of the water view. Couch should face the water. Also TV viewing was difficult from the couch.

Review 48:The internet connection was terrible - they kept trying to reset it, but the only way to get internet was to stand outside the room or go to the office. The carpets need to be replaced as well.

Review 49:It was wonderful to be able to look out over the water.

Review 50:Room decor was "tired" looking. Breakfast was just coffee, rolls & cold cereal. Not too exciting.

Review 51:Location was fine. Staff was friendly.

Review 52:Overall facility needs a general upgrade. Needs better maintenance and fresher look. Room was noisy, poor weather/noise stripping around the door made the room noisy. Door was beat up, like the locks had problems. Free breakfast was OK.Rating was a little high.

Review 53:Nice beach area and location. Friendly and helpful staff. Good location, not a long ride to Traverse City downtown and other attractions.

Review 54:Breakfast could be better. Disappointed they didn't have waffle maker like the other hotels. Free breakfast not such a perk if you have to pay for it somewhere else.

Review 55:The room and the view of the bay.

Review 56:Pool did not feel heated & would have liked a hot protein for breakfast.

Review 57:Loved the view & being right on the beach. Microwave & fridge in room was convenient.

Review 58:We skipped the breakfast, but it was enough to get you by.

Review 59:The staff was great. Very helpful in telling me about place to visit while there. The room was nice, spacious, and had a great view from the balcony.

Review 60:The bed seemed smaller than our queen bed at home. And the breakfast room in the lobby was tiny and crowded.

Review 61:We loved having the walkout patio w beach access. Also, the room was very spacious.

Review 62:No privacy on the balcony. There should be solid railings on the sides of balcony area, so you don't feel like your "neighbors" can see everything you're doing. Also, people on the next balcony were very loud and partying. We wanted it quiet.

Review 63:Pool and location are great. Love being on the water.

Review 64:balcony needed to have the cobwebs removed and spray for spiders. The breakfast is not worth trying since it was just donuts and coffee.

Review 65:loved the view of the lake and the beach

Review 66:Lots of traffic noise because the front door wouldn't seal properly. The frame on the sliding patio door was twisted and that door wouldn't close fully. In-room coffee maker didn't work properly, but it wasn't much of a problem because the housekeeping staff forgot to leave new coffee supplies every day. "Breakfast" was very minimal.

Review 67:Location was nice. Views of the East Bay were great.

Review 68:Not at all value for money. Free wifi very weak Bed and pillows very uncomfortable Breakfast could be better, served boiled eggs uncovered from a bag .. Yuck!

Review 69:On the lake but the beach is just a little area of wet mud.

Review 70:No complaints, just wish we could have stayed longer.

Review 71:We were lucky enough to get a free upgrade to the penthouse suite because it was available and another guest wanted to stay in the first floor room we reserved. It was a fully equipped one bedroom apartment with a very comfy king bed (feather pillows and feather stuffed comforter), full kitchen, amazing jacuzzi tub, and private balcony with a view of the serene beach.

Review 72:We woke up the first night to thousands of ants in our room. They switched us to another room and refunded some money with no hassle. However, new room had two big hairs sitting right on top of the comforter.

Review 73:Loved the location. Being right on the water was great.

Review 74:-- As opposed to the advertising photos, which make the beach look large, it was in fact quite small, and hemmed in on both sides by marsh grass. I actually enjoyed watching the egrets and ducks in the grass, but the photo was misleading.

Review 75:-- The price was great for a waterfront property. -- The room was spacious and comfortable.

Review 76:Vending machines did not work.

Review 77:Overall we were happy with our stay. Staff was very friendly, they even had play toys for my little guy to play in the sand with. Room was great. We loved the view. We would definitely recommend the place, and return in the future.

Review 78:The carpet in our room was very dirty with many sticky spots, could use a good cleaning.

Review 79:The staff was very friendly. The Maintenance Supervisor Glenn went above and beyond his duties, he called one of the local golf courses and made a tee time for our family. He completed our stay on a high note.

Review 80:My husband is a smoker, he didn't like not being able to smoke on the balcony. He understood about the room, but not the balcony.

Review 81:The view was excellent. Nice an quiet.

Review 82:The staff was so friendly and helpful; it's beachfront property - we could just go out on the beach and sit in the late night and look up at the starts.

Review 83:We did so much activity outside of the hotel during the day that by the time we got back the pool was closed each time. Later hours for both pool and also for breakfast would be appreciated as we work 2nd shift and are accustomed to later to bed, later to rise.

Review 84:We loved the jacuzzi in the room as well as the spaciousness of our room. The location was great for us to enjoy Traverse City.

Review 85:Climbing the stairs to 3rd level was a challenge for us with luggage. Breakfast ares could be larger, although the food was fresh and tasty.

Review 86:Room, and lake view balcony were very nice. Beach access with furniture and towels were much appreciated. Pool was clean and not over-chlorinated. Helpful front desk persons.

Review 87:Had to climb 28 steps each time we left the room. Although a minor inconvenience, it did not detract from the pleasure of our stay.

Review 88:Quiet, very nice view of Grand Traverse Bay, well kept beach area, beautifully maintained pool. Loved the balcony.

Review 89:Our building didn't have an elevator. We were on the second floor and traveling with an infant. No fun! The sheets were cheap and scratchy. The electricity in half our room went out for half the day.

Review 90:The location was wonderful. The pool and bay were excellent. Also loved our little beach view balcony

Review 91:Smell Mold/musty AC ran non stop and was not working well Marsh looking beach front

Review 92:Musty smelling room Poor AC Hotel in bad shape Totally not as expected from website

Review 93:Upon our arrival the area was hit with a severe thunderstorm with 70-80mph. winds. Many large trees were uprooted and blown down onto power lines causing the hotel to lose power for 1 1/2 days. The management extended our stay by giving us a room at no charge for our inconvenience, even thought the power outage was not their fault. Staff made sure everyone was safe and ok. They went above and beyond and we will be back in the future.

Review 94:No hot water, no cable or T.V.,no phone, multiple trees down on property, due to storm. We drove 6 hours to get there and had to drive back in the middle of the night.

Review 95:Location good.

Review 96:It was 90 degrees out and the heat was on and could not be turned off. The air conditioner was noisy and running non stop to try and overcome the heat. It was midnight when we finally figured out that the base board heat was on. Front desk did respond and we had the heat turned off by 1:00am. Room was qwerky and dated.

Review 97:The location of the hotel and the beach area were great. Very close to downtown dining and a short drive to the sand dunes.

Review 98:There was no privacy on the balcony and we directly overlooked the pool, so it was a little awkward. It did, however, force us to talk with the people that were also staying there. Breakfast was not what we expected, very limited and in the office area, but there are so many restaurants nearby it wasn't really a problem.

Review 99:The view was incredible. Morning sunrise, evening sunset all from the balcony. Beach was very nice, sandy, family-friendly. The king size bed and jacuzzi tub were a welcome addition to the microwave, refrigerator and coffee pot. The room was very clean in appearance. We didn't use the WiFi.

Review 100:Most of the staff was not overly friendly. The beach space was extremely limited. The pillows were all the same size and all too large for us, others might like them though. The breakfast was EXTREMELY disappointing.

Review 101:The room was clean, the view was nice.

Review 102:in summer I think they should have breakfast open to 10am even during the week, lots of people were coming in and they were already closing up. Nine am is too early in my opinion,

Review 103:great beach and comfortable rooms, nice breakfast very clean

Review 104:The breakfast wasn't that great and there wasn't much seating, but it was okay.

Review 105:I loved the beach front view, the pool, the volleyball net, and the friendly staff! I had a great trip

Review 106:My coffee maker didn't work. There should be a better breakfast, other hotels there has a much better breakfast and the rooms are the same price. You also should have better vending machines and Ice on each floor.

Review 107:I loved the view from the balcony. The beach was great.

Review 108:From the booking information I was under the belief there was a breakfast, to me breakfast is not cold cereal, a toasted bagel.and a small can of orange juice.

Review 109:Accommodations were clean and luxurious. Definately will be back again.

Review 110:Very much in need of updates throughout. I'm 6 feet tall and i was too tall for the tiny shower

Review 111:Great location. You basically have a private beach and every room has a beach view.

Review 112:The breakfast provided was poor. The area for the continental breakfast was very small. We prefer to eat out which was possible with the savings of our room. If the room was full price, I would stay else where.

Review 113:I booked the room at a value price in June. It was possible the best value in the Traverse City area for hotels.

Review 114:Very clean rooms and greet views. Breakfast a bit skimpy. Good value. Construction on the road in front was a bit annoying but am sure it is completed by now.

Review 115:The rooms (especially bathrooms) were surprisingly old for this price Range. Our bed was not level, squeky and not comfortable. It was hard to tell if the sheets/towels are clean or not because they turned yellow after long years of usage.

Review 116:Right by the lake, all rooms have lake view

Review 117:Pointed North feels more like an intimate bed and breakfast. The staff offer great recommendations for local food and the rooms have a great view of the sunset with couples jacuzzi tubs.

Review 118:old and dated facilities. location was not ideal as one has to drive to the areas of interest. the breakfast offering is terrible - they should not even list it as an amenity.

Review 119:The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The view from the 3rd floor rooms is amazing. The rooms are clean but aged. Jaccuzzi hot tub in the rooms is a plus as are fridge and microwave with small sink.

Review 120:The maid service didn't empty trash, didn't empty coffee pot, there was a pillow on the floor that was not picked up, didnt vacuum, didn't replace coffee or toiletries.

Review 121:The view, the people at the front desk.

Review 122:There were a lot of bugs in our room, no wall between the bathroom and the bedroom, and i wouldn't consider it a 'great' hotel due to being outdated.

Review 123:It was kind of close to Traverse City?

Review 124:The AC noise from my unit and the ones all around was so loud I couldn't enjoy the breeze off the lake. I was unable to turn off even my own unit.

Review 125:Good view over Grand Traverse Bay

Review 126:Not much we didn't like. Toilet paper was a bit rough. Weather could have been warmer but that's not the hotel's fault. I would recommend this place if you are visiting the Traverse City area.

Review 127:Large room, had a refrigerator, coffee maker and micro which was nice. Right on lakefront - can see the sunset. Staff was very helpful in finding a good place to eat. Whirlpool tub is a nice extra too.

Review 128:Very outdated. Shower could literally kill you and bathroom very dated and not user friendly. Check in a disaster...no elevator and placed in room with only one bed when two had been paid for.

Review 129:Outdoor pool delightful and clean.

Review 130:Bathroom very cut up..probably done to make room for fancy tub, which we didn't want or need. Able to use rooms but not convenient

Review 131:Room very comfortable and quiet. Staff nice and accommodating.

Review 132:There were a lot of small bugs on the chairs on the balcony. Whenever we opened the balcony, the bus flew into the room and were all over the wall.

Review 133:Excellent view of the bay. The rooms were big and comfortable.

Review 134:Cheap patio furniture. Sitting on the patio listening to the loud air conditioner unit. Sofa in our room looked a worn out/old.

Review 135:Being right on the water. The view. The location and the size of the rooms were great.

Review 136:The couch in the room looked like it had been around the block a few times. No shape in the cushions at all. The bedding pillows looked and felt like they were stuffed with cottage cheese. For the reduced price and location it's hard to complain too much. You get what you pay for I guess.

Review 137:Besides finding a half eaten microwave dinner in our room upon arrival...the rest of the stay was pretty average. Breakfast area was so small and limited we only had it once out of the two days. After finding hair on the plastic unwrapped silverware that was a turn off as well.

Review 138:Booking.com did not forward our reservation to the hotel. The staff was excellent about resolving the issue and honored the booking.com price. Next time when using booking.com it is best to make sure the reservation was actually made.

Review 139:The staff was great. Hotel room right on the water. Easy access to the pool and beach

Review 140:No bad experiences at all.

Review 141:The room was great, very spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. It was a great value for what we paid. We stayed five days and would do it again in a heartbeat. Loved that the pool was outdoors.
