Reviews for Creekside Inn
Review 1:1. Mildew all around bathroom window 2. Room heated by one wall coiled heater, very cold or very hot.3. 2 hangers for clothes
Review 2:Walking distance into center of town.
Review 3:Pretty blah! Plants where dead out side, they could put fresh ones. The table out side had broken legs. The room was not nice at all, pretty dull. It was a no smoking, but our neighbors smoked!
Review 4:It was right in town
Review 5:The rooms desperately need updating considering the cost.
Review 6:The young man who checked us in was friendly and helpful. The inn is conveniently located for those driving from San Francisco to LA or vise versa.
Review 7:CONS: The motel is very expensive (a little more expensive than a Holiday Inn Express) but there is no pool or hot tub. No microwave or refrigerator. The beds are like a lightly padded floor and the pillows are the type that you can not get comfortable with and I woke up with a stiff neck each night which sucks when you're on vacation. The inside of the room is very outdated and run down. (I've stayed at Motel 6's that were nicer and with more amenities)
Review 8:PROS: The outside of the motel is adorable and quaint. The staff was nice and helpful. The parking good and the location is excellent if you want to walk to downtown Cambria. There were extra towels, pillows and blankets. There is an ice machine. Lots of channels on the tv and free wifi.
Review 9:The beds are hard as boulders. We felt like we were sleeping on the ground.
Review 10:We liked the staff, safety of location and the fact that it was just a minute from downtown Cambria.
Review 11:The motel is couple of miles from the beach, so you must drive, and the beach is the best attraction of Cambria. The bathroom doesn't have little guest bottles of body lotion, shampoo and conditioner, although the shower did have a built in container for gel and shampoo and conditioner - the conditioner container was empty. We were asked to pay at check-in, as if we weren't trusted. I travel a lot, and this struck me as unusual. The shower faucet didn't turn off when the shower was turned on, and a lot of water was wasted. The furniture was a little beat up and there was a tear in the curtains.
Review 12:Our unit was clean. The motel is walking distance to the charming older part of town with some great restaurants, a good gallery (Vault), and nice cafe (Mojo's).
Review 13:Well, the room quality varies too much as we stayed there on an earlier occasion and was impressed how clean and spacious the room was. Most importantly though, the room was clean in that it didn't have any grungy, mold/old cigarette odors. On this latest stay, their downstairs room was awful in that it smelled. Would hope for them to have consistency in this sense. We asked to be moved the next night to the room we had on the second floor from last stay and so they were able to accomnidate us and that made all the difference.
Review 14:The location, cleanliness, and it is quiet and we actually have a view to the hillside from the second floor.
Review 15:There was a faint unpleasant smell in my room. Perhaps the odor stems from the rug...
Review 16:I actually forgot my phone charger in the room. Tim (the owner) has already mailed it to me. What a kind deed! Also liked the quiet locatiom...
Review 17:Staff was extremely accommodating ! Location ideal- we were able to walk to most places even at night! They even gave us a price break because we booked so far in advance and moved us to a larger room with a balcony when we stayed after most left. My only criticism is single queen could use an updated mattress- not as comfortable as room with double queen. Highly recommend and will return in future!
Review 18:Room was dark, stuffy, no A/C, sliding door didn't lock, screen ripped, no microwave, no fridge. The bed was soooo hard! Not worth the $150 per night!
Review 19:The fresh pastries on Saturday
Review 20:There were repairs needed in the room - a peg was gone from the towel rack, one of the doors in front of the tv was broken.
Review 21:The staff was very pleasant and the balcony view was relaxing.
Review 22:The only downside was there was no mini fridge.
Review 23:I enjoyed the location of the rooms, small quiet place, with the view in the back. It was very relaxing, the staff were all very friendly and accommodating.
Review 24:Owners were quick to respond to the bathroom sink which didn't drain and to replace the tv remote which was missing. Older motel that needs some TLC but was OK.
Review 25:Lack of air flow in rooms, it would be nice to have a fan to cool the room down.
Review 26:Friendliness of staff. Comfortable king size bed and clean. Location to center of town (walkable in 5 minutes)
Review 27:Not exactly as shown in the picture It is better to book a upgraded room We got a relatively outdated small room The windows do not really Lockable Poor Bathroom There is no air conditioning in the room
Review 28:Good location but because this is a very small town in the middle of nowhere In such places you should actually take a luxurious hotel There are a lot of parking in the room It seems that the upstairs rooms with a balcony maybe a little more comfortable
Review 29:Would have preferred air conditioning even tho it's California.
Review 30:Great location with friendly staff. Unlike most chain hotels, small and quaint. Unit was very clean.
Review 31:I could feel every spring in the mattress.
Review 32:Cheaper than other options in the area; that said, still not a very good value. Good pastries available in the lobby in the morning.
Review 33:Facilities were disappointing. Sliding glass door to the balcony didn't lock. Electrical outlets near the bed wouldn't hold a plug. Decor was dated. Nowhere to set a toiletry bag near the bathroom sink.
Review 34:Cambria is a cute town and the Creekside staff were friendly & helpful. Bed was comfortable enough.
Review 35:Rooms a bit old and tired, could do with a refresh, but OK for a one night stay. Fridge did not work.
Review 36:Clean enough and a few minutes walk from some shops and restaurants. Gentleman on reception was really nice.
Review 37:This inn was so comfortable and clean and the owner Tim was so helpful and friendly. It is located just a few mins walk from great restaurants.Cambria is a beautiful little town with loads of character. I'd recommended staying there
Review 38:Our room had a stale odor. The carpets were dirty. The bathroom floor had not been washed as there was urine stains beside the toilet. My sister went to use a fresh hand towels and it had a stain on it. We were only there for one night, so we didn't complain. With proper upkeep it would be a good place to stay, good value for the money.
Review 39:The location was convenient to the east part of town. Upon check-in the receptionist was friendly but didn't have much information about restaurants in the town. from the outside it is very cute and inviting.
Review 40:Very outdated! TV very small, inside large entertainment center;rm had musty smell. Creaky headboard
Review 41:Exterior was inviting to look at, nice plants/flowers Liked soap/shampoo dispenser in shower
Review 42:Everything was great.
Review 43:The breakfast in the morning was awesome, we'll come back again, and I've already told my adult kids about our stay can't wait to go back.
Review 44:Some elements slightly run down, plus few plants in plastic pots. Make sure you get a room away from the ice machine; it is loud!
Review 45:Nice creekside location, easy walk to downtown, sweet little furnished balcony, friendly staff, great value.
Review 46:It was hot and muggy with no air conditioning.. We had our bad window open until a skunk smell woke us both up, so we had to shut the door and neither of us slept well because it was so hot
Review 47:Very friendly staff, good location
Review 48:No a/c or overhead fans--room was hot and screen to sliding door was torn so we could not leave open to ventilate the room. TV did not work. No fridge or microwave. Beds were not comfortable.
Review 49:Receptionist was very friendly
Review 50:We couldn't find our room for awhile from description front desk gave us. No one to help with bags and parking was minimal.
Review 51:Breakfast was great. Suite was roomy. Gardens charming and cheery.
Review 52:Could have done without noisy ice machine but it did turn off as promised.
Review 53:Well, had a nice view out back; room felt spacious, people at desk very nice.
Review 54:Bed was not comfortable, a bit outdated room, shower curtain was not the best, a bit moldy. Overall it was okay.
Review 55:Great location. Close to town, clean rooms. Plenty of towels.
Review 56:No AC. This is OK in the area, but it was very warm and we had to sleep with the sliding glass door open. I would have packed a fan if I knew. Water pressure is so low that my shower time had to be doubled.
Review 57:Location is nice.
Review 58:Front desk person was rude after being late with the breakfast. When she was told people were waiting since 7am she laughed and stated " let them wait" I did not find that funny, I had been waiting. Never again!
Review 59:See above.
Review 60:The man who checked us in was great, but the female who came in later started bad-mouthing him. And, she forgot to order the breakfast food for the next morning. I liked the location.
Review 61:The walls are so thin we were kept awake by the people next to us.
Review 62:I loved the view from the balcony, the size of the room, I thought they'd done a good job decorating nicely, though for 2 beds there was only one extra blanket. It was lovely walking into town.
Review 63:Staff was super-friendly and helpful; walking distance to nearby restaurants, ice cream, bakeries, galleries, and shopping so we really got to know Cambria; the Creekside was great value for the money. If they had a pool, they'd get a perfect score from us.
Review 64:No mini refrigerator. No Microwave oven. No air conditioning. Room had a memory foam mattress, my back can not handle memory foam mattresses.
Review 65:The friendliness of the staff and town people. Proximity to our final destination.
Review 66:One of the guest used all the ice in the machine and the first day the staff went out and bought ice. He did it the next day and no one had ice for 24 + hours. That sucked!
Review 67:Staff very friendly. Great price and location. Will stay again.
Review 68:Bathroom needed dusting, scrubbing. Other guests were smoking on their veranda at night which wafted right up to our room....tried to call the office but no answer.
Review 69:Location
Review 70:Beds were hard and there were a lot of spider webs on the deck.
Review 71:Location was excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful with places to eat. Room was clean.
Review 72:Being English and liking a nice cuppa in the morning it would have been good to have a couple of tea bags included with the complimentary provisions. Also, the percolator took forever to "perk" - possibly a newer model is required! Room was OK but a little "tired". Shower was a bit temprature temperamental!
Review 73:Staff were lovely and very helpful. Tim went through the map with us and pointed out places of interest and recommendations for good restaurants. Cambria is a very pretty little town. From the hotel you can take a short drive to Moonstone Beach and enjoy a lovely stroll along the boardwalk.
Review 74:Bed was a bit hard. But I am used to a softer version. Not a big deal and did not affect sleeping.
Review 75:Friendly and responsive staff. Clean and comfortable room. Close to shops and restaurants. Easy access and plenty of parking.
Review 76:No bad experience....just be aware that NO hotel in CAMBRIA has air conditioning. Which means during the day the rooms can be warm but they cool down during the evening.
Review 77:Walking distance to most activities in the town and restaurants
Review 78:The bathroom amenities were poor. The water in the shower continuously shifted from scathing hot to cold. The decor was horribly dated, and the floor was dirty and sticky. Creekside Inn is essentially an old, charmless, overpriced motel.
Review 79:We enjoyed watching the birds from the rear balcony.
Review 80:The bathroom lighting was on the dim side and we were disappointed that there was no refrigerator in the room for the items we had.
Review 81:VERY quiet setting, LOVED the private back deck and the proprietors were extremely nice!
Review 82:Stuffy room no circulation.high price for a room that wasn't up to par.
Review 83:No air conditioner, stuffy room. Poor faucet pressure not a good value for what we paid for room.
Review 84:The rooms need to be remodeled. Linoleum floor was very worn out, big stains. We paid $145- for a room that should have been $39-. Very outdated from the early 80's.
Review 85:The room was old looking..the sink area was cramped and the bathtub water did not regulate properly (hot temp to cold temp).
Review 86:location, location location
Review 87:No refrigerator no microwave. Would have liked to have them both
Review 88:The grounds were very relaxing. The landscaping was amazing. Saw 3 types of humming birds.
Review 89:The Inn was a very short walk from downtown Cambria, which has a lot of cute shops and great places to eat. I highly recommend Linn's! Great service and delicious, fresh food! And Mojo's Village Bean has great coffee - they even offer coffee ice cubes for your iced coffee :)
Review 90:Nothing - we loved everything.
Review 91:The motel was very cozy, clean, and inviting, within close proximity to downtown Cambria. It was one of my favorites during my roadtrip through the Big Sur area.
Review 92:At check in we were told for another $20+ we could get a balcony overlooking a nice creek. The balcony actually overlooked trees and there may have been a creek, but it wasn't visible from our room/balcony area. It was a disappointing "upgrade" and we wouldn't have spent the extra money.
Review 93:The room was clean and comfortable.
Review 94:We fell asleep to the sound of trickling water, with Windows open to the fresh, cool air. Just heaven. Easy walk to all of mIn street shops and food. Warm welcome and farewell. We'll be back.
Review 95:This needs some updating. The towel rack in the bathroom fell off the wall.
Review 96:Very friendly staff and very quaint. Good location to the shopping and eateries. Very clean and comfortable beds.
Review 97:The room decor looked to be from the 1970s and didn't go with the craftsman appearance of the exterior
Review 98:The owner was very friendly and had local pastries, fruit and coffee for us every morning
Review 100:This place is the most uncomfortable motel I've ever stayed at in my life. The beds are hard as a rock - I think the floor might have been more comfortable. I'm surprised nobody has commented on the absurdly loud cow noises that carry on throughout the night...eventually they quiet down around 2 AM but the noise starts again around 6 AM. The cow sounds echo what I can only describe as some kind of elephant apocalypse. I hardly got any sleep at this place between the noisy cows and uncomfortable bed. I also found several dead bugs in the bathroom and a pee stain on the toilet.
Review 101:I didn't like anything about this place.
Review 102:What would make this place the idea place to go to? A small refrigerator, a microwave, and for the morning continental breakfast bigger coffee urns.
Review 103:The beauty of the setting. Cottage like with hills in back ground. Flowers and clean fresh air all around. The rooms where spacious and clean enough.
Review 104:Place needs work. Upon close inspection balcony has some wood rot. Sliding glass door to balcony was very heavy and did not slide well. (Took both arms to close) And the staff needs to clean better. (Window screens, outside lights, etc.) No refrigerator or microwave.
Review 105:Rm#19, upstairs was nice and quiet. Great view from balcony. Nothing fancy but was comfortable. Wi-fi was excellent. Small place and calming.
Review 106:The bed was a little saggy in the middle, but was actually pretty comfortable. The desk help was fine, but could have been a little friendlier.
Review 107:The location was perfect, a short little walk to town. The creekside setting was really peaceful and quiet.
Review 108:The only mirror in the room was over the tiny sink area. Not good when 2of us are trying to get ready at the same time! My suggestion is to replace picture over desk w/another mirror!
Review 109:The bed was very comfortable & loved the little balcony overlooking the trees & grassy area. Listening to the birds was heavenly, & hearing the frogs in the evening was wonderful! Overall, a quiet, pleasant room.
Review 110:Cute but seedy outside. Inside worse. Being a vetern RN I check the beds in all motels before I sleep in them. All I can say is because it was so late I covered everything with sheets and towels to get through the night.
Review 111:Cute on the outside and room had a nice little balcony. No bed bugs.
Review 112:cleanliness of room and comfrot level. there was used melted soap on outside of bathtub obviously missed by housekeeping. curtains were stained and dirty by sliding glass door. screen was off the tracks, bed and pillows were not comfortable.
Review 113:the staff was friendly, nice location.
Review 114:We had no complaints.
Review 115:It was easy to get to Hearst Castle. The center of the village was easy to get to and it was a short, easy drive to the beach area. It was quiet and peaceful. The desk clerk was very nice and accommodating.
Review 116:Only King room available was on 1st floor in dark corner. Was told upstairs room would be extra. :(( Based on current room - did not anticipate worth upgrading. :( Checked out 1 hour later!!!
Review 117:Did not stay long enough to find out.
Review 118:TV did not work in the evening but was in working order the next morning. Problems with cable company?
Review 119:Close to town. Room was clean. Affordable price
Review 120:Hotel is a little dated. Spider webs in the bathroom and only one vanity for a double bed room.
Review 121:This hotel is quaint and in a perfect location. We walked to Cambria for meals in just 5 minutes. Has lots of character.
Review 122:Our neighbors the first night were horrible but other than that it was great.
Review 123:Nice and quiet. Just what we wanted. Staff were nice and friendly. Our continental breakfast was great. I would stay here again. Already planning the next trip.
Review 124:Balcony needed cleaning spiderwebs all over. There was only one chair on the balcony.
Review 125:Really pretty creek outside we could hear frogs and wild turkeys from outside our room.
Review 126:Morning staff did not follow through on helping us with toiletries two consecutive mornings. Was more interested in whatever she was doing on computer to note our need.
Review 127:Location, price, owner
Review 128:Used coffee in coffee maker and used coffee cups too! Cable tv didn't work. They sent a person that got it going, then it didint work again the next morning. Staff was late the next morning, couldnt get replacement coffee cups or a bite to eat until later.
Review 129:Adequate sized room and comfortable bed.
Review 130:The room was a bit tacky. The room needs some attention to cleanliness and upkeep. Artificial flowers were a disappointment.
Review 131:Within walking distance of town. quiet location.
Review 132:The bathroom window could use a screen- I opened it for ventilation one night and several moths got traped in the room.
Review 133:The host was very friendly The room was very clean
Review 134:Thin walls, noisy plumbing, lack of fridge and no tea bags.
Review 135:Comfortable bed, the balcony overlooking the countryside with the small table and chairs, large sofa and friendly reception. Close to restaurants and shops but in quiet end of town
Review 136:No a/c, needed to open sliding door in rear room, but 1000 frogs in the creek going apesh** all night. Get one of the front rooms!
Review 137:Front rooms very nice, and quieter at night.
Review 138:This is a small hotel, but price is right considering that it is a short walk into downtown Cambria. Room had a view of woods behind with a nice balcony with chairs and a table. Great place to stop if heading up the coast or if going wine tasting in Paso Robles.
Review 139:Refrig n microwave would b a great addition for those of us who stay for a multiple day stay. Fitted sheets would be fantastic for guests n staff.
Review 140:Location was quiet Close to dog park
