Reviews for A-Te Chumphon Hotel

Review 1:Stayed 9 dyd laundry service very expensive unable to find laundry outside hotel as in other area of Thailand were you pay per kilo not per item so found a problem as our room had no balcony to dry clothes.

Review 2:Good clean swimming pool. Quiet location. Some English speaking T.V. Nice staff. Breakfast okay.

Review 3:The swimming pool... cant really swim. just 1.20 m deep. Breakfast is a bit poor. Wifi so so.

Review 4:Very central location. Clean and comfortable room. Great bed and shower. Owner and staff are very nice.

Review 5:The bed was hard and not at all comfortable. The breakfast had a lot of flies. The english of the Staff wasnt very good .

Review 6:The Shower was very nice. The rooms were clean and modern. It was close to the trainstation but we had no idea how to get there at 2 am. And there were no taxi's. But it was good that they had 24/7 reception.

Review 7:> Location not very easy to find as it is inside the center of town > Driving backwards to exit the parking lot, I hit a small roundabout there that I have not seen in the rearview mirror and damaged my rear bumper. I would have avoided this inconvenience if a hotel's agent had watched to help the manoeuver

Review 8:> Nice rooms modern style > Nice swimming pool area > Good breakfast

Review 9:We never have breakfast in hotels but here it was included, hence we were excited to see what you can get in a 4 star place. We had to take it as take away because of the early ferry departure and it was a triangle sandwich from 7/11, 2 mini sausages and a small yoghurt. A pack of oreos and a fruit juice would have been nicer

Review 10:Fitness place and pool as well as spacious and comfortable room made our stay very pleasant. Location is good as there is not much in Chumphon, so you can't really be close to something good. However, all spots are walkable from there.

Review 11:The hotel is in the middle of town but it is set off the road so it is quiet. Our room was on the back facing a back courtyard so again quiet. The breakfast buffet has a good variety. The rooms are large and clean with good linens. The staff speak little English but we're friendly.

Review 12:Air-con is very cold. I tried to adjust the temperature but it is back to the default temp.

Review 13:I like the comfortable bed and cleanliness of the room. Water pressure is very good. Breakfast is not that variety but cover all kinds of food like salad, eggs, hot dishes, cold items, fruits, milk and drinks. I like Asian hot dish the most.

Review 14:We got a 4 wheel tuktuk to the high speed ferry to ko tao we were quoted 400baht when we got there he wanted 500baht I dont blame the hotel but they told us the price and got the driver As allways in thialand ask the drkver how much first :-(

Review 15:The staff were nice Location pretty good Pool area nice Breakfast good

Review 16:Staff with a big chip on their shoulder. Same as everyone else on this town. The waitress in the nearby ( and only ) restaurant though takes the cake. If you don't have to stop there, don't!

Review 17:Comfy room and clean

Review 18:The breakfast was particularly disappointing, the bread tastes old and the omelet was served cold there weren't many fruit options, something you would expect in Thailand. There were mosquitoes in the room and we couldn't get rid of them.

Review 19:The hotel was a pleasant surprise after a long day driving, it was a little hard to find following GPS instructions since one of the roads it suggested was blocked. The rooms are quite comfortable and clean. The bed was good and the sheets were impeccably clean. The staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Review 20:The city was a little quiet for my taste But had lovely chilled inhabitants

Review 21:Lovely staff, location, pool area & the resteraunt near & owned by the hotel was good Met the manager who was charming

Review 22:Water pressure in shower was erratic. Got to breakfast an hour till it finished but not much left except egg options, would of been nice if the juice was filled.

Review 23:We only had a 1 night stop over on our way from Bangkok to Phuket. Really good value for money, friendly staff, clean rooms.

Review 24:Nothing. The hotel met our needs perfectly.

Review 25:Excellent rooms and very good local restaurants. This is a first class commercial/short stay hotel but not a destination resort style hotel.

Review 26:Hotel located at the rear of a derelict car park, Pool closed on arrival and told to wait til 5pm to use, why not clean after 5pm, room facing back of hotel, although hotel empty and could have pool view. very hard bed and a wooden block for a pillow(seriously they need to do something about the pillows) poor staff, little or no English. I could go on but no point they wont listen!

Review 27:breakfast ok

Review 28:staff did not know what a "Business Center" is and suggested that i go to night market instead. Not recommended for business travelers.

Review 29:everything is excellent.

Review 30:We had a massage at the hotel and even though the masseuses were good, they did not stop chatting away between them in Thai which made itdifficult to relax.

Review 31:Rooms were comfortable, clean and new. Staff were very accommodatingand friendly.

Review 32:Nothing negative to say about this hotel, it's a "must try" deal specially when you come back from Koh Tao. The 15min walk from train station is a little drawback, but keeps this little gem away from overcrowding.

Review 33:Excellent quality/price ratio Nice swimming pool Rooms large, comfy and very clean

Review 34:Dinner at the hotel was delivered by the restaurant on the next corner (plus 20-40 bath per dish). Wifi on the room was poor.

Review 35:The hotel has very modern with clean and spacious rooms. Hot shower is perfect. Beds very comfortable. The thai massage in the hotel was excellent.

Review 36:Staff,pool,Happy Hour.

Review 37:Beds could be bit softer

Review 38:Clean and spacias rooms. Great breakfast and friendly staf

Review 39:Poor location, food.

Review 40:Staff

Review 41:Quite hard to navigate around the town

Review 42:Excellent rooms, modern, clean

Review 43:Hard bed

Review 44:Breakfast

Review 45:centrally located, pleasant staff, clean and reasonably priced

Review 46:Room is quite dirty on the day we check in

Review 47:Quiet and easy to find

Review 48:Very friendly staff. Much value for Monday. Great hub to Ko Tao.

Review 49:Room smelt of smoke. Not much choice for breakfast.

Review 50:Close to railway station, helpful organising ferry transfer to koh tao. Huge bed and big shower.

Review 51:Overcooked omelette

Review 52:Friendliness of staff

Review 53:Fair choice of restaurants around it

Review 54:too expensive compare with value

Review 55:cleaness

Review 56:Petit dejeuner -peu faire mieux

Review 57:Chambe propre et grande

Review 58:There is nothing to do in Chumphon.

Review 59:Cheap hotel, room spacious, breakfast was good. Very friendly staff and fast wifi.

Review 60:Wonderful friendly helpful staff and a stunning hotel

Review 61:Pillows! when will this hotel listen and change them!

Review 62:loaction

Review 63:Pilows like from concrete. No wifi range in our room, very poor english in reception.

Review 64:Very nice pool in the hotel. Good localization.

Review 65:Shower water system

Review 66:Everything is good except shower in bathroom is poor Can't adjust water temp

Review 67:Nothing

Review 68:Nice boutique styled hotel you do not expect in Chumphon. Reception organised the ferry ticket to the islands for me.

Review 69:Good hotel for a stop-over (the city doesn't offer a lot), modern design, comforable rooms, good prices, nice pool

Review 70:The water in toilet did not set to hot must call the staff to open it.

Review 71:Staff and Suite Room

Review 72:pillows very hard nothing to do boring place

Review 73:rooms were clean

Review 74:Breakfast can be better and equal of the excellent hotel

Review 75:Everything was perfect, very good hotel

Review 76:Not much to do in the town but good as a stop over for a night.

Review 77:New hotel Comfortable

Review 78:The cocktails and a couple of small things about the bathroom.

Review 79:We traveled out of season and were given a really good room. Its quite a modern hotel and when you sit around the pool you could be in a resort area. The staff were good and attended to our requests fairly promptly. It is located very close to the central markets, which are very interesting and some great street food is available a short walk away. Chumphon isn't a tourist hotspot but it will keep you interested for a couple of days.

Review 80:Nothing really. Probably would have stayed closer to the pier if we had realised the distance away.

Review 81:We stayed for one night en route to Koh Tao - be aware that Chumphon town is a good half hour away from the pier. Nicely situated for eating out and shopping with an early evening market next door. Good pool. Didn't have breakfast - they gave us breakfast boxes. We thought it was good value for money.

Review 82:Staff not quite professional States that hotel offers free wifi but if router seems to be out of order for almost the entire stay, why promote the fact that hotel offers free wifi in rooms?

Review 83:Only stayed a very short night before jumping in the ferry to Ko Tao but this hotel was great. Very nice room, nicely decorated, clean. There is also a pool and a gym.

Review 84:The beds are the hardest I had to sleep on same the pillow. Like sleeping on the floor with a brick under the head. Not much choice for breakfast. Do not eat at their restaurant, when you come in from the main street on the right side. The portions are half of what the picture shows, waited 20 minutes and had to remind them about my 1 minute stir fry after that. Sat by the windows and it smelled like a sewer.

Review 85:15 minutes walk from the train station, if you paid 100 Bath, what they ask, for a transportation than you got cheated !! What is there much to like, it is a clean hotel, people stay one night and move on. Has a pool, a small "bar" which opens at 12. "Happy hour" only Friday.

Review 86:nothing

Review 87:located a short walk or taxi from station. Only stayed for 1 night before getting ferry to Ko Tao. Room large and spotlessly clean. Good shower - needed after the train journey down from Bangkok. Comfy large bed. Breakfast in morning adequate but as included in the price of the room excellent value for money. Lovely swimming pool available and a small gym. There is a food market at the back/side of the hotel. We arrived very late in the evening but although the market itself was closed there was one stall open with excellent food and cold beer seemingly used by taxi drivers etc but really friendly and cheap. Great value hotel. Would definitely use again.

Review 88:nothing at all!!

Review 89:it was an amazing oasis of serene rest in a chaotic city. Good clean rooms, helpful personnel. A good stop over during our trip to the South of Thailand.

Review 90:Very poor english langueagu skills. Was hard to order a friut juice.

Review 91:A wonderful Hotel which I did't expect in Chumphon. A very nice pool area for relaxing. A very friendlich Hotelmangeress.

Review 92:After I reserved the hotel with my Amex card, it turned out that the hotel doesn't accept Amex for payment. Afterwards the back room staff harassed me in a very annoying manner and called every 15 minutes when I would pay. Such refugee treatment is absolutely unacceptable for an otherwise nice 4 star hotel.

Review 93:Front staff is super friendly and most helpful in every respect and will go out of their way to help and assist, very pleasant

Review 94:Not much, it is what it is.

Review 95:Didnt expect much and was pleasantly surprised. Agree with other review about it being a good hotel for a not so good town. Arrived late so receptionist called her friend to give us a ride into town for street food, meaning we arrived for dinner in an ambulance/rescue truck. Loved the random-ness of this. Chose to stay here night before travelling on ferry to islands, rather than get up early the next day. Relaxing option with children, morning spent around pool instead of hours sitting in a car before then more hours on a boat.

Review 96:After finally getting off the night train from chumpon myfriend and I walked for 5 minutes or so before finding the hotel and the lush room it exceeded both our expectations and a perfect haven after the long journey enjoyed a lovely breakfast and swim in the pool and the staff were very helpful arranging bus and ferry for us to continue our journey

Review 97:We have nothing to complain about.

Review 98:Nice hotel in the middle of now-where! Our stay were very good. Nice personal and good breakfast. We stayd only one night, waiting to get the boat to Koh Pagnan.

Review 99:the town

Review 100:an excellent 4 and a half star motel/hotel in an otherwise dismal town (if bussing to koh samui I recommend you go straight to ferry terminal as the new town bus terminal is 15 k from direct bus stop!).. there is an excellent coffee shop/bakery attached to front of this accommodation..lomprayah ferries provide a bus pick up to local bus station twice a day for 50 bart.. 11.30 pickup available..recommend you take the 150 bart(us$ 5) private lounge on ferry...

Review 101:If you expect beach and sand chumphon is not your choice

Review 102:The hotel is located in walking distance to the central shopping area. The city is very local and not very touristque. The hotel is new and modern sit ha fine pool and a good breakfast. Everything works.

Review 103:Location was not ideal, but ok for our purposes for staying only a short night.

Review 104:Excellent value for money. We arrived late by train and departed early next morning for the boat to Koh Tao, so we did not make use of all facilities (although the swimming pool looked very welcoming after 9 hours in a train!). Staff was very friendly and was so kind to arrange our transportation to the ferry for the next morning right away.

Review 105:Nice hotel situated hotel in the the town center. Easy to go to look atthe rich every day life in the town. Do not belive the guide books thetown have a interesting life. The room with pool access are a very goodchoice for a few thai bath more.

Review 106:Happy hour in the bar is Friday's only. Very limited English speaking TV channels.

Review 107:Very comfortable hotel. Large rooms, good size pool, lots of choice for breakfast. Clean and modern. Fast Wi-Fi

Review 108:One staff member in particular at reception was not as trustworthy and helpful as we first thought. Firstly, I didn't realise until a few hours after check-in that the lady who was checking us in sent an email from my phone to the hotel without permission, or asking me to do it! Granted it was the hotel booking email (I gave her my phone as she asked for booking ref), but she did not ask me - I found this strange. But we really liked the hotel and decided to stay another night. We went to reception to ask, and that same lady said that we could stay in same room for same price as we paid previously, we asked if we should pay now and she said just come down to reception to pay tomorrow. So the next morning, we went down to pay. And same lady informed us that room was no longer available as someone rang in last night and booked it and now if we wanted to stay we would need to move rooms and pay more! Needless to say we feel this was very unfair as we had agreed to the above. After a heated discussion same lady said we still need to move rooms, but for same price we paid for the previous night. So we moved rooms, one floor down, exactly underneath previous room, exactly the same room type, so we have no idea why we needed to move. Maybe the guests who had not yet arrived could have stayed in this room. But we really didn't mind moving, new clean sheets and toiletries. Funny situation. So, just keep hold of your phone, and if adding an extra night, get the agreement in writing! The rest of our stay was absolutely fine.

Review 109:The rooms were clean, as we're the bathrooms. Breakfast was fine. Pool was nice to relax by. Most of the staff were friendly and courteous.

Review 110:Right in the middle of the town, near shops and everything you need. Hotel has large, very comfortable rooms with all amenities. Great pool, little oasis in the town.

Review 111:They nickel and dime you for everything! The $10 hotel the night beforehad free water and tea, even a tea bag cost $ at this one. Rude staff, very unhelpful, more than just a language barrier. Nice hotel in rundown neighborhood.

Review 112:New hotel, nice pool, felt safe. Check out the night buffet up the road,no roman sign.

Review 113:1) Staff was not very friendly and could not speak English at all (they used an online translator to translate some words to English). When checking out, they wanted to charge us a broken glass (which we did not break) for a very high amount2) location: there is really not much to do in Chumpon or the area. We recommend only to stay 1 night when travelling further south. 3) very hard pillows, we really could not sleep very well here We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and we believe it should be a 3star instead of a 4star hotel. We stayed in other 4star hotels for lower prices at better locations and with much better service.

Review 114:1) Pool area was nice2) breakfast was nothing special, but ok

Review 115:Nice rooms, poolarea and the breakfast also lived up to our needs - there was a different course every morning. Fun city to be in after all the other turist-thai cities

Review 116:Can't think of anything bad. Maybe a bit hard to find - the entranceis at the end of the parking lot - but the guard was very helpful andpointed me to the right direction.

Review 117:Luxurious hotel, extremely spacious, clean, and beautifully decoratedrooms. Location within 5-10 minutes walk from key areas - Farang Bar,train station, scooter rentals, 7-eleven etc. Open swimming pool is atreat. Staff is extremely good, very polite and speaks English well. Inshort - unbelievably good hotel for the price (1000 baht), probably itwas low season so I got a good deal.

Review 118:Hotel environment provided a very nice rest from the busy streets of Thailand. Staff prepared a to go breakfast, as our departure occurred prior to breakfast hours.

Review 119:The taxi service is a little expensive compared to the outside because the hotel charge the commission as well.

Review 120:The breakfast is very good and the hotel is very clean. The enviroment is very suitable for the travel to take a rest during the journey. There is a lot of place for lunch and dinner. The Thai massage is very good as well.

Review 121:The water for shower is too hot and too cold! no warm water. Can not adjust to warm, you have to bear hot or cold only! The key card provide just 1 pc. not convenient for separate and take it with you. The parking lot has no cover, so hot when face sunny day.

Review 122:The room is good decorate and very clean. The size is big enough both living and bathroom. Location is good for touring in the city.

Review 123:Nothing negative to say

Review 124:Great facilities and staff, good location , lovely thai hospitality inthe town , worth a visit. Spotless accomodation , loved the en-suitepool . Very welcoming and comfortable. Asked for a little extra time tocheck out to meet the train and it was no problem - no extra charge.

Review 125:Bed was comfortable but pillows were extra hard!! Only one tv channel in English.

Review 126:Room fit out was good quality, loved the shower. Good value for money.

Review 127:No room service or in-house restaurant, however meals available 100mtacross car park at a cafe belonging to hotel owner.

Review 128:Beautiful quiet swimming pool Easy access for car and plenty of parking.

Review 129:Reception not very welcoming, particularly the head woman. Long time since a smile passed her face. Apart from that, staff very good.

Review 130:Lovely room and pool. Many nice details in the design. Good food in the restaurant close by. Generally good staff.

Review 131:Nothing to complain about, everything as great!

Review 132:We stayed at the A-Te Chumphon Hotel as a stopover before catching theferry to Koh Tao. After spending 2 nights in very basic accommodation atOur Jungle House Khao Sok, the A-Te was pure luxury. All staff wereexcellent and reception staff spoke good English and were extremelyhelpful. We booked a pool side room which the kids loved. Everythingabout the place was great - rain shower in bathroom, comfy bed pillowsand linen, lcd tv with numerous channels all for the same price as ashack in the jungle! My wife would have preferred just to stay at A-Tefor 3 nights and skip Khao Sok. Chumphon itself is quite a nice littletown which is not touristy and has an "authentic" Thai feelabout it. It could be a destination in itself as it has easy access togood beaches, national parks and shopping which we found to be some ofthe cheapest encountered in Thailand.

Review 133:Staff were seen to be very lazy and not attentive towards guests

Review 134:Swimming pool,fast wifi in room, clean,breakfast..location
