Reviews for Sunset Beach Hotel

Review 1:Property is worn down. A lot of things are broken, and no repairs are made. 1 third of the lamps are not working leading to dangerous access to the rooms. Very slippery floor after rainfall. Personnel is not responsive at all. Waiting times for coffee and at bar are hilarious. We waited 1.5 hour for our last lunch. Everything personnel needs to do looks like an enormous effort. Moreover, they say yes they will do, but you can already see from their eyes that they won't. The only lady who tries to run the place and makes efforts is Florence We received a room without sea view when we arrived, whilst ocean view was clearly 1 of the reasons we booked the hotel. They switched us finally, but it took a lot of going back before they did. Similarly, we asked for a map of the island every day, and were promised tomorrow every day, but we finished our holidays without. Location is very nice, but there is nothing in the neighberhood. Closest city Beau Vallon is at 45 minutes walking, via a very dangerous route. Also, be aware that whilst snorkling is said to be very nice in dry season, it is absolutely not possible to snorkel in wet season, because of very high waves.

Review 2:Very nice beach Beautiful views from the hotel Very beautiful bar

Review 3:1. Poor wifi 2. Owners more concerned about themselves than there clients. Sign show off there cars! 3. No value for money. Rip off 4. TV channel below standard. 5. Dont rate the current hotel more than a 3 star. 6. Hotel and country must recognize there currency is not EURO but Rupee. The excuse that everything is imported is becoming a stale argument. 7. Management you not taking care of your. staff. Remember without your staff and clients you have no business and no fancy life style. 8. Everyone knows you are going to renovate the hotel so dont collect your required revenue with your status of the venue. 9. No service on the beach. You loosing revenue! 10. Old beach furniture. 11. Food menu limited and too routine. Sometimes basics not on offer. 12. Wine list limited. 13. Your car service is ripping people off by providing cars at price X per day but giving the car with empty fuel tank. Not the international norm. 14. Pool paint coming off. At pool no service and have to get own cushions etc. 15. and so the list can continue.

Review 4:Beautiful Island but out pricing themselves generally. Most people I talk to will not return to the island because of value for money. Do ypou really cared???

Review 5:No wifi in the rooms only in lobby. Breakfast selection limited. No atmosphere at the bar.

Review 6:Our room was a few steps from the ocean. Private beach. Snorkeling. Bar over the ocean.

Review 7:Perfect location, perfect view! Our room was right near to the beach. During the night we could hear the ocean. It's a very quiet place, very stylish.

Review 8:3x days asking for television to be fixed and still not done. Rooms/Fittings are old/tired and need updating. Wifi was extremely slow. Most staff were disinterested and looked like they'd rather be somewhere else.

Review 9:The location was ok

Review 10:totally overpriced for this hotel no hot water at all -even after rprting it Ridcuis cost for such a old run down hotel I will advose all I knw nevet to go to this hotel - total rip off

Review 11:location only -

Review 12:Just little things like had to share menus at lunch , room wasn't cleaned one day and restaurant staff were very slow but nothing that would ruin your holiday. Beats the local 5 star hotels purely on location.

Review 13:Great location , snorkelling was some of the best I've done off a hotel beach

Review 14:Bath drain was blocked, had to call twice to get it fixed, same as sink. Called for room service after arriving ( around 3 pm), and we were told to go to bar to get food. Not pen in the room/desk to be used. They come every night around 8/9 pm knocking at door until to bother if everything was fine, like if there is no phone in room to call and do not disturb if sleeping at that time. Staff in restaurant not knowing what available or not, every time they had to double check for every item if available, even lying sometimes to not bother to check. Not wifi in rooms, only at reception area, the signal didn't reach restaurant wich was attached to it. Location was not easy accessible; closest grocery shop about 10 min walking. public beach is about 45 min walking in a road not so safe to walk (narrow road and traffic speed) In general wouldn t come back ever again to this place, but other hotel complex by the public beach even if not attach to it, much better trying. Super expensive rooms for very basic facilities.

Review 15:Seafood pasta from menu.

Review 16:Not enough sea food variety at dinner. Breakfast needs to be varied again no sea food

Review 17:Clean hotel and rooms great location. Sunsets here were spectacular. The bartender is a great guy and very helpful

Review 18:We had a junior suite that only had one air conditioner in it. Did not function properly durning the heat of the day but was satisfactory at night.

Review 19:Food was fantastic. Views and feel was also fantastic. Staff are lovely. Will stay there again.

Review 20:No wifi in the rooms (but maybe that's a good thing as well if you really want to relax )) )

Review 21:Perfect location. Private beach. Comfortable rooms. Nice pool. Excellent hospitality

Review 22:Best to rent a car as there is not much in easy walking distance, though you can always take local transport. The bathroom had mold (while not unexpected in the tropics, given the price of the hotel...). The restaurant had very high prices for dinner - but the food was very good, and the locaiton overlooking the sea was beautiful.

Review 23:The beautiful small beach by the hotel allowed for great snorkeling/swimming/sunsets. The restaurant - while very expensive - was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel never had the feeling of being packed of people - though they were fully booked. Not the best for small children (under 6), but for adults, a lovely hotel.

Review 24:The staff managed to overcharge my credit card by twice the amount. Ok, these things can surely happen, but if they also put items on my final bill from other guests, I started frowning a little... The restaurant is of very poor quality and was the single biggest disappointment during our trip to Seychelles. Food at the typical take-away e.g. on La Digue had much more flavor than the food we got served there.

Review 25:The location is really great, very nice beach on the side, with swimming pool. The hotel's facilities and rooms are worth the acclaimed 4 stars. Watching the sunset from our room was indeed very nice !

Review 26:Hotel receptionist needed training. Chefs below average for this cost level hotel. Some staff either not interested or have not been empowered to fix customer issues.

Review 27:Beach,view,snorkeling. Beach unit.location of hotel complex.

Review 28:This is a true "slice" of your private paradise . Rooms just a step from heavenly beach , clean with a beautiful porch, small and peaceful beach with crystal clear sea , wonderful for swimming or snorkeling . Everything is so well incorporated with wonderful lush nature.

Review 29:Exquisite food, setting, location, staff was outstanding, loved the antique natural wooden cabinets In the dining area and the bar overhanging the ocean. Incredible scenic views. On a scale of 1-10 it's a 20.

Review 30:worne out hotel; very bad breakfast; expensive dinner and bar facilities

Review 31:Great location

Review 32:Location, beach, interest of staff

Review 33:service in restaurant quality vs. price of the food does not match

Review 34:location rooms cleanliness

Review 35:Loved the Bar and most amazing private beach. Great snorkeling. Staff were friendly and relaxed.

Review 36:Having to leave

Review 37:This hotel is amazing, from the minute we arrived until we sadly checked out we felt we were in paradise! The location is spectacular, the view breathtaking and having the beach right outside our room was ideal. If you want relaxation, amazing friendly staff, value for money and a holiday to remember then staying here is a must. Going to sleep with the sound of the waves outside our door and waking up to that beach each morning is something I will never forget. Thanks to Carol and all the other staff for making our stay so welcoming.

Review 38:The facilities were in reasonably good shape but could use a little maintenance - some of the doors wouldn't close, wood windows inoperable. These were really just minor annoyances given the overall location, facility and experience.

Review 39:Overall we had a great stay. The hotel was on a small beautiful beach. The room had a great view of the ocean and was very comfortable. The price was reasonable for the accommodations. Recommend renting a car in order to explore nearby restaurants, shops, beaches, etc. in Victoria and on the island.

Review 40:We had a lovely house but it wasn't maintained. Lightbulbs weren't replaced and cupboard doors were missing knobs. The room was missing several things that we had to ask for such as bottle opener and coffee maker; the shower still had used shampoo from previous occupant; the curtains needed to be cleaned and shortened. The cleaning staff did the bare minimum; the two bedroom fans were missing blades, etc.

Review 41:We really liked the house and its location but it needed several repairs. The view was amazing and the food was good. The staff were very nice.

Review 42:stayed in February & had 4 wet days out of 7. Food not very inspiring.

Review 43:Beautiful setting - altough for most of the time we were there (1 week) the water was far too dangerous for all but the strongest swimmers. Staff unfailingly friendly & helpful (altough you have to be patient). Deluxe suite very well equipped.

Review 44:There are two faucets to control the cold water and the hot water separately, but it's really hard to control the temperature when I took shower

Review 45:Location is great, good to watch sunset. There is a quite pretty beach wich is not that broad but enogh for snorkeling.

Review 46:the restaurant policy no short pants allowed entry was embarrassed me all time, and the buffet is also very poor and expensive.

Review 47:the location is good, especially the lounge is excellent.

Review 48:Last day before we leave to airport we packed our bagage and left for launch when we back in the room we find cleaner girl inside and my bagage was opened and my staff looks like somebody was searching for same thing nothing was missing but I feel if we back later I would not find some staff at the moment I arrived to my country. I don't trust employe at this hotel any more.

Review 49:Quite afar without a car. Some lights didn't work, but not really a problem.

Review 50:Nice beach with an interseting snorkeling point. Welcoming and careful staff. Good restaurant. Impressive bar and pool above the sea.

Review 51:Best place on mahe, best beach on mahe , but very expence for this level services. Restoran? If u want yesterday fish - welcome!!!! Better take off taxi and visit la plage restoran. Free wifi in hall)))

Review 52:little technical difficulty in locks for the room..

Review 53:the staff was very kind and helpful.they went out of their way to keep the guests comfortable, the location was gorgeous.. all rooms have such great views which makes one feel in heaven.

Review 54:I found out that the hotel not welcoming children below 7 y. The accommodation ocean villa not diverse the money, the accommodation not that clean and old and need maintenance, I found out that there is stair which wasn't mentioned on booking.com description, the service was quite slow, the equipments in toilets need maintanance, it was bet old.

Review 55:The location of the hotel was good. The staff was friendly

Review 56:The dinner was hell expensive, even if you don't select the whole course. Some staff members were very helpful, but some others were quite rude as well.

Review 57:The room has an amazing view, very close to the shore, that made of our trip a really good experience. Overall the place was clean. The beach was rocky but a good place for snorkeling. Plenty of food during breakfast. The hotel is close to the main beach.

Review 58:Food/beverage service was slow and not very efficient. Lots of money left on the table because service was so slow. Overall facilities are in need of a bit of an upgrade. Rooms did not have blankets, which was odd. Menu options quite limited.

Review 59:Location was great. Beautiful setting. Nice common outdoor areas. Food was solid. Staff was very friendly. Atmosphere is chaming, welcoming, and relaxed.

Review 60:The room wasn't cleaned well, there was spider web on the furniture and the Towels could have seen better days. Breakfast was fine but not great, options were limited and it never changed.

Review 61:I love the staff extremely helpful and friendly, the location is awesome and the scenery is magical and the Island is Heavenly.

Review 62:ther were no music or entertainment in the evnings, the price but seycelles in general is expensive

Review 63:the location,'the architecture',the decoration',the beach,', the room, the food, the frendly staf, a wonderful relaxing hotel

Review 64:To begin with the price of the room did not match with the comfortwhatsoever. The mattress was old and springy - not even a duvet - just asheet as if we were in a motel. The food was terrible and double theprice of what you would expect to pay in any other resort. We ordered aclub sandwich with a side of fries which I honestly thought was sittingout for a week. Absolutely the worst food I have ever been served!!! Andthis is no exaggeration. For dinner, the only option at the hotel was a40 euro per person buffet and mind you, there was nothing availablebetween 6 and 8pm. After lunch, there was no way we were going to forkout that kind of money only to be disappointed. In saying that, thereceptionist was kind enough to book us a taxi and table at a localrestaurant down the road. One thing for sure, this island is not thattourist friendly. Service is not generally done with a smile. If youkeep this in mind, i'm sure you can enjoy your holiday! Oh one otherthing, check out at this hotel is at 10am!!! Unless you kindly request alater check-out depending on other bookings...

Review 65:The setting was stunning, even if it rained most of the time. Thea/c in the room we booked wasn't working very well but thereceptionists who were mostly helpful upgraded us to one of the roomsright on the beach. The sound of the waves was incredibly soothing andmade our stay so much more enjoyable.

Review 66:Cockroaches in bathroom. Shower receptacle head did not dispense water.Ants in draws. We ordered food at 5:20pm at the bar from snacks menuonly to be rudely spoken back to by waitress that they cannot make foodfrom bar menu any longer as the curfew is now in place. To this I saidthe bar menu runs from 3pm to 6pm! I asked for the manager andreluctantly they went and made our food. The reason they don't wantyou ordering food I think is because they want you to have the al acarte menu. We did once and only once as it costs 1400 Seychellesrupees equating to 95 euros! Way way to expensive. Too expensive forwhats on offer.

Review 67:Close proximity to beach, snorkelling was good. Free Internet access inpublic areas.

Review 68:I found the Sunset beach resort to be a fantastic designed Resort andhavinf the limited room was a really good feature and there were notpeople everywhere and having the no children under 10 allowed wasamazing as you did not have to worrie about the at the bar or in thepool I had a great time the staff were top quality particulary elvis oneof the bar staff anything we needed was taken care of.

Review 69:Storage capacity in the room is very limited. Restaurant is expensive. No restaurants / shops in walking distance

Review 70:Location of the hotel is fantastic. Very good restaurant. Very friendlyand customer oriented personel. Free WiFi

Review 71:A poor country, the price is unreasonably high, the population is lazyand sluggish. The hotel staff at the restaurant is very slow, serve for2-3 hours, confused orders, bring the wrong food that ordered, with noapologies ... In any case do not take fishing at Beau Vallon! Deceived!

Review 72:Stunning natural surroundings! The best hotel of Seychelles!!! (Watcheda lot, including on Beau-Vallon): the best location, own great beach, good sunbeds, tide hardly felt, a private snorkeling, swimming poolclean, maid service excellent, room furniture and bathroom new, friendlystaff at the beach and the reception. The best restorant - La Scala!!!(At the end of Beau Vallon).

Review 73:Service erratic sometimes excellent, other times staff very slow. Food OK but nothing special. Some parts of hotel just starting to look a tiny bit shabby but all very clean.

Review 74:Beautiful beach, lovely gardens, very clean, friendly helpful staff. Beach drinks and sandwich service very good

Review 75:Everything else was just overpriced. We rented a car and just went to Victoria or elsewhere for all our meals and necessities.

Review 76:Location was great.
