Reviews for Quality Inn and Suites Middletown
Review 1:Windows were filthy!!! Dirt and grime on window sills, screen broken, VERY small bathroom... Doors didn't close completelycompletely.. Fridge was dirty
Review 2:Bed and tv were nice
Review 3:The facility is getting a little shabby. The room had a connection for a dryer, two different floor materials. Felt like a converted utility room. Toilet so close to the wall I had to turn sideways to find the TP. Hallways very narrow, carpet old, hollow core doors were old and cheap.
Review 4:Price
Review 5:When we first got in to our room we noticed the carpet was dirty and not vacumed. It wasn't until the 2nd day that our room was vacumed. Also, a bottle of cleaning solution was left in the room on our bathroom counter. In addition, there was mold on the ceiling above the toilet. The beds were comfortable, but overall we really didn't feel comfortable in the room and the hotel - it was outdated and we were disappointed. We actually were looking for another hotel to stay in the second night of our visit to the area. The hot breakfast wasn't good. The eggs that were served were powdered eggs and the sausage was over cooked and like rubber. The waffles were okay. We did not have breakfast in the hotel on the 2nd morning. I will not be staying here again.
Review 6:Very old doors, ceiling tiles were ajar in many spots, pipes exposed in room
Review 7:The building needs updating as well as some aspects of the rooms. The bed was excellent.
Review 8:The pillows were very small ,the complimentary breakfast was terrible. The scrambled eggs were cold and in tiny pieces, homefries were also cold.Tables were dirty, had to wipe my own since no staff was around. Not worth the money I payed to stay there.
Review 9:The staff were pleasant, room was clean.
Review 10:There wasn't anything there I didn't like.
Review 11:Staff were friendly and helpful to mean my husband our room was surprisingly nice and fits the occasion love it would recommend there anytime .
Review 12:The room we stayed in was too small, had an awkward configuration, and desperately needed updating. The room was just cleaned when we arrived, but it had a strange odor, like fried seafood.
Review 13:Lobby and breakfast area were pleasant and clean.
Review 14:A little dated/worn in areas but it is to be expected and by no means diminished our comfort.
Review 15:Easy access to nearby attractions, comfortable and clean. Excellent value with breakfast included.
Review 16:Bathroom had exposed drywall and missing tile pieces in the bathroom. Way over priced for the quality of accommodations. They certainly took advantage of the fact that the boat show was in town and other hotels were booked.
Review 17:Staff was friendly and courteous.
Review 18:The hotel smelled bad. The bathroom had mold, the shower head was falling off the wall and the toilet seat didn't stay on the toilet. Our view out our window was to a building with no curtains and sliding doors and windows stacked with boxes and trash. Very disappointing.
Review 19:I called an hour before check in time that the room I booked we could not check into because we had a small dog, and if I wanted to cancel. An hour before check in when arriving from out of state with am issue was resolved by allowing us to check into a room that smacked of feet and moldy basement odor. The room was also so small you couldn't turn around in. An discount wasn't offered for the inconvenience nor nothing was offered for as explanation for not addressing a room selection issue for room that was booked a month ahead of the check in date. To sum it the room was too small, cramped , outdated and smell feel of an dungeon.
Review 20:Location
Review 21:The hot water dial in the shower did not function properly. The TV only had one functioning channel when I checked in Thursday 9/24/15; it did not function at all the following morning :-(
Review 22:It was convenient and the cost was reasonable for the location.
Review 23:Rooms were a little odd, very large but furniture of lower quality in room and room floor was uneven (floor sloped). Hallway outside room had faint sewer type smell, but not in the room itself.
Review 24:Affordable, very close to restaurants and the Navy base back gate.
Review 25:The pool water was murky and GROSS. Entire pool area is in need of a complete renovation. Bed was by far the MOST uncomfortable we've ever slept in. The complimentary breakfast was more than adequate, but still, you get what you pay for.
Review 26:Location of the hotel was very good.
Review 27:There was a lingering smell throughout the building and it was worse in the room. The bathrooms were dingy and un-renovated. The linoleum was dirty looking and ripping.
Review 28:The beds were pretty comfortable.
Review 29:The jacuzzi tub has a huge window in front of it and it's in the middle of the room. The reason I picked the room was so I could have a relaxing bath while traveling with my three teenage boys. I obviously couldn't use it. The tv was horrible all glitchy couldn't see the picture for more than 10 seconds at a time. The clerk that checked is in was completely frazzled and we were his only customers. I wanted to pay cash and he acted as if I was the first person to ever do that
Review 30:Breakfast was great pool was good.
Review 31:ONLY complaint is that hallways were not as clean as I would have liked them to have been.
Review 32:Many good and convenient amenities, rooms clean and comfortable.
Review 33:Room was dated and in need of major TLC. (visible cracks in plaster walls). Curtains fell down from improper installation (but was quickly remedied). No safe in room. Bathroom supper small (NYC small).
Review 34:Friendly and reactive staff. Clean rooms. Excellent breakfast. Easy parking. Well lit swimming pool with extended hours (10pm). Great AC. Wifi worked well. Easy access to grocery store and "package" (liquor) store.
Review 35:The food was not good, eggs horrible, staff not helpful enough with people who didn't use waffle maker correctly. No fresh fruit. You pay more understanding that breakfast is included yet it wasn't worth it. The rooms didn't smell fresh, the tub wouldn't empty very well. The shower head mount was coming out of the wall.
Review 36:The front staff was pleasant. The kitchen staff was fairly pleasant.
Review 37:I have photos of the worst Quality Inn I have ever stayed at, and I will submit those to the proper people. Extension wires coming from the TV across the floor into another room that had an outlet. I tripped over that at least 3x. the window to the bath suite was filthy with someone's face marks or something else I don't want to think .
Review 38:nothing
Review 39:I would never stay here again! The sheets on the bed were dirty (crusted with snot). We had to request new ones at the desk. Ironically, there was an envelope in the room to tip housekeeping. The room was in poor condition with damage to walls in bathroom. The room to the pool was leaking rain. It seemed that they were trying to fix the place up, but using the lowest bidder. This is the "Low Quality Inn."
Review 40:Common area was the only nice part of the hotel. Wifi worked well.
Review 41:Bathroom floor dirty. Not enough available chairs at breakfast. Only one bed was made up. The other was left unmade for some reason. Towels were not replaced in a timely manner.
Review 42:Comfy beds
Review 43:The bathroom looked as if it was partly remodeled but not completely finished . The tile on the floor in the bathroom wasn't finished off where it met the carpet. I also noticed that the refrigerators were not put into the spaces in the furniture where they should be but rather they were just placed on the rug next to where it looked like they should have been.
Review 44:The pillows were flat.
Review 45:The staff were professional, friendly and helpful. The facility was very clean and the breakfast was delicious. Loved the options for breakfast it was satisfying. The drive to main attraction and beaches was just a short distance.
Review 46:The rooms were awful and smelled of mildew. We tried two rooms and the second was worse than the first. I was traveling with a child with allergies so couldn't stay.
Review 47:The facility needs repair (pool area). Small bathrooms.
Review 48:Very clean, comfortable bed. Good for a short stay. Nice lobby and breakfast area. Clean bathrooms
Review 49:The only real conplaint I have is that there were no safety grab bars for the jacuzzi tub or the shower in my room.
Review 50:The location is no more than 5 miles from the Newport Visitors Center and central trolley hub. The pool is wonderful - the best feature of the hotel. The staff was always helpful and friendly. The room was clean and well maintained. The coffee maker, frig and microwave in room was convenient for when I was sick of restaurant food. Unless you require a water view, you can't do better than this hotel!
Review 51:The breakfast eggs were horrible, the toilet area in room was too small. The pool water could use a little more attention water was cloudy
Review 52:Cleanliness, friendly
Review 53:Some cosmetic touch ups needed like peeling numbers on doors and old chain style locks but nothing significant.
Review 54:Clean room, comfortable king size bed, jacuzzi tub and good hot breakfast.
Review 55:In need of serious infusion of cash to be spent on up keep,of interior hallways and carpets Trim and moldings are beat up Matching room number's on door's very ghetto maintenance evident Room had water line's jutting out from wall as if there was a kitchenette prep area at one time I thought that was very odd!!
Review 56:Very quiet hotel, Room Was Clean and Comfortable
Review 57:I thought the room could have been cleaner. I found some hair I'm the bathroom. We also had the spa bath in our room but there was a foot print in it. I didn't make a complaint because it wasn't a big problem as the positives did outweigh the negatives. :)
Review 58:The room was big and the hotel was nice. We only stayed one night but the hotel facilities seemed nice enough to use. The breakfast was sufficient.
Review 59:I didn't like how we had to be switched three times to finally be in a somewhat better room. The first room, cable did not work, second room bathroom had big green mold on the ceiling, and finally to the third room which was a littler bigger than the previous rooms but it smelled like fresh paint.
Review 60:I liked how convenient it was to the main road. I also liked the bright chairs in the eating area.
Review 61:Very unorganized, we waiting so long for out room and when we finallygot the key and headed to our room there was still someone in therefixing the tv, we went back down to tell them and they told us we hadto "wait" for our room now. This was almost 1pm! Also I hadleft some clothes hanging in the room and checked out when I went backan hour later to grab it the threw my clothes on the floor and took thehangers. The place wasn't very clean either. Will not be comingback there.
Review 62:The location was great not far from downtown Newport.
Review 63:The hotel needs work. I estimate 1/2 of the rooms are not habitable. The bathrooms are way too small and no way my wife would of stayed here if she was traveling
Review 64:It was very close to the company I was visiting. The bed was comfortable and the room adequate
Review 65:The (free) wi-fi in our room had a weak signal and got disconnected often.
Review 66:Clean, comfortable, seems that was recently rennovated. Great staff attitude. Nice place, 15 min drive from Newport's cliff walk.
Review 67:It would be terrific to have had some healthier choices for breakfast ie bran muffins, fruit salad. The scrambled eggs were lacking. Lack of condiments as well. ( ketchup, hot sauce)
Review 68:The Lobby was nice and welcoming. Very nice to have the option of a workout area. The pool was terrific entertainment for the little one that was traveling with us.
Review 69:Waffle batter was a bit stale tasting Bathroom super small where easily could have had extra 1-2 feet with where wall is
Review 70:Overall no serious complaints. Clean, functional, full breakfast, and was available for 1 night option
Review 71:Bathroom was way to small. asked to be moved, was put in a handicap room. Didn't careally for the dog barking. Thought this was a no PETS ALLOWED hotel.
Review 72:Room smelled of mold, tub and sink clogged, ac/heat didn't work properly and no screens on windows so i couldn't open them to let breeze in. Wasn't worth the price I paid.
Review 73:Staff was friendly and helpful with question about Rhode Island
Review 74:Checking into room was a nightmare. First gave us room that wasn't cleaned. Then could not get us an alternate room as computers were down. They said this always happens on Fridays!
Review 75:Room was acceptable. Breakfast was good overall (diverse), but eggs were pretty bad.
Review 76:There was beer bottles everywhere outside near the back door. I paid with my bank card and then at the end cash and they charged me for the whole trip on my card but still took my cash. I had to call corporate to get the cash amount put back on my card. The room we were put in was very small for two adults and two small children.
Review 77:It was a good price and the breakfast was good. My girls liked going to the pool.
Review 78:We were given some else's room. Ope the door and someone already there. Bathroom dirty. Hall dirty. Pool was aweful, lots of mold. Signage not ADA compliant. Breakfast was nothing to write home about. Booked online and paid more than published website price. Will never return. Staff unprofessional. Carpet in front lobby and breakfast area dirty. No presentation ...
Review 79:Close to Newport!!!
Review 80:Hallways were freezing. Went to swim but pool and glass room were too cold. No one used the pool. No whirlpool.
Review 81:Staff was kind. Breakfast had a good variety. Exceptionally clean. Comfortable quiet sleep. Enjoyed exercise room.
Review 82:We came for the indoor pool so we were disappointed to be freezing in the pool area. The pool furniture was full of rust. Not comfortable or safe.
Review 83:Staff was friendly and helpful.
Review 84:I booked a room with a spa tub but when we checked in the room smelled awful, smokey and like mildew. The room was on first floor right next to door to pool. There was a small hallway between hotel and exiting to pool with AstroTurf that was saturated in water and smelt like mold. The smoking area was also off that exit which explained where the smells were permeating from. I asked for another room and the staff were very accommodating however it was a room without a spa tub and no reimbursement was made with the change. The other room was much more pleasant smelling. The pool was cold, the glass around it had gaps in it where outside air easily got in making the whole area cold (especially on a rainy day). Breakfast was ok, nothing to brag about.
Review 85:Conveniently located on main road accessible to a lit of restaurants and about a 8 min drive from Newport center.
Review 86:At check-in, was advised I had to leave $150 deposit in cash for"Incidentals"....in case I damaged the room. At check-out,I was told the deposit was incase I smoked in the room.....I Havenever smoked in my entire life!!!!!!. The back door (outside) we hadto use was littered with beer cans and butts. The room was noisy ,with a .buzzer, at the back door, and the door was slamming each timesomeone came in.
Review 87:Not much
Review 88:the walls were paper thin and the room next to us had 5 kids in it. all night long the kids from 11-16yrs old ran the hallways. by 11pm. I had to call the front desk and ask them to tell the kids to go back to their room. unfortunately for us, that room was next to us. during the night, not by their choice, sanders came to do the parking lot. at 630am under our window, the oil company came to deliver oil. did not sleep at all. very tired in the morning.
Review 89:An outrageous $150 security deposit with no advance warning for a sub par place. We were told we wouldn't get charged but our checking account still was. Toilet clogged on first use & we were handed a plunger to fix it. The TV sound didn't work unless we turned the TV on & off again. Toilet had grey stains and the bathroom was so tiny, with no hooks to hang anything. There was a big gap under the door between our room and the one next door. We could see their lights on. There are better places in Middletiwn to stay and there isn't a $150 security deposit either. Breakfast was nothing great.
Review 90:I didn't know it was pet friendly. The layout to the room was odd. The kitchen size refrigerator was same area as the jacuzzi. It looked odd.
Review 91:Clean
Review 92:My husband sat on the end of the bed and the whole bed popped up in the air.(both beds) Knowing we were arriving you could of turned on the air conditioning.(have your cleaning crew vacuum the filters for the air also) Not sure if it was new glue or musty smell. Felt as thou we were in a maze getting to the room.
Review 93:Clean and plenty of towels
Review 94:There were two beds one had a step next to it which I tripped and fell down in the middle of the night on. The other bed was against the wall. So the other person had to climb over to get into it. Very outdated and not what I expected at all. I would never go back and pay the big dollar amount for another hotel nearby.
Review 95:the television was totally blurry, the Jacuzzi tub was installed improperly, when water was filled. the back of tub dropped 1/2 an inch, the breackfast was all microwaved ,rugs in halls needed to be cleaned. there was food spattered all ove the hallway wall, I would look to have the housekeeping and kitchen staff retrained,
Review 96:i liked the set up of the room, the spa was clean,
Review 97:Our toilet was broken. We have a toddler--not good. The bathroom floor also looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a month. Wi-Fi impossible to connect to. Bedding looked old.
Review 98:The adjacent room played their TV at Full Volume All Night till 6 AM. The Night Mgr. was banging on their door at 2 and 4 AM to get them to turn down the TV. He said they must be "Drunk and or Passed Out". Manager still has not returned my calls.
Review 99:Toilet leaked and periodically refilled (minor annoyance for sleep, but just closed bathroom door)
Review 100:Friendly staff King room w/jacuzzi (didn't use it) Bed Comfortable chair, work area Good breakfast Good deal, good value
Review 101:stains on carpet breakfast too artificial laundry machine had missing info sticker back entrance was not locked, so this is a security issue garbage laying around outside near back entrance
Review 102:it smelled ok and had been remodeled. some parts were still old staff was nice I forgot my shoes and called them the next day. They said they will send my shoes back to my home address. nice!
Review 103:The pool was disappointing. We went to the pool once for about 10 minutes. The water was murky and had a lot of stuff floating around in it.
Review 104:The room was clean and we had no problem with noise. We loved the breakfast every morning, it was a great start for the busy days we had. Staff was friendly.
Review 105:We did not have hot water, called the front desk they said a plumber was working on it. We still didn't have hot water the next day so I called again they said it was probably because everyone was trying to take hot showers at once. Still no hot water that night, long story short a lot of excuses but no hot water, offered me 20% off personally I'd rather have hot water...
Review 106:Location, price
Review 107:tiny bathrooms, but clean and adequate. breakfast hot items were appreciated, but the low quality was not: powdered eggs, grey colored fried potatoes
Review 108:very good beds, very clean, spacious king room, hot items on breakfast menu, great check-in and departure staff, easy access to all of Newport
Review 109:Cosmetically the room as in disrepair. Tiles fall off wall and veryoutdated. The hallways were extremely narrow in area making it difficultto maneuver luggage to the room.
Review 110:Location was good with easy turn off from the road.
Review 111:Room had an odd configuration. Walls separating strange areas. We were upgraded to a room with a jacuzzi which was in a strange 1/2 room without a door.
Review 112:Room was redone and comfortable. We had room on the end and it was nice and quiet.
Review 113:Grandson reports more computers are needed.
Review 114:9 year old Grandson enjoyed the pool, breakfast and our room. Grandparents feel it was a great price. The staff Peru and Kim were "The Best". Location was good for traveling about- great it is setback off the busy road. We wish QI&S the BEST with the renovation and improvements of the location. We will reutrn!!!
Review 115:When I originally booked I asked for the jacuzzi spa tub in our room but it wasn't given to us because I booked through booking.com. Also out room was tucked in the back where renovations were still being done so wasn't very attractive.
Review 116:Great location to downtown newport easy in and out with the busy weekend. Room was good.
Review 117:Fitness room was extremely hot and most of the machines were out of service. We also had a rude neighbor that yelled profanities at my kids through the door when I called the front desk nothing was done about it. We asked to have our room changed or to refund our money because my special needs son was terrified but nothing was done. We were told that the hotel was booked and the rate we paid was "to good" to do anything. We were very dissatived with the way the front desk handeled this.
Review 118:The breakfast was very good. The kids enjoyed the pool.
Review 119:our room had no cable, the water pressure was terrible and never got warm, no wifi, parking was rare after 5 PM, lack of plugs (one looked like it was ripped out of the wall)
Review 120:location, hotel had a shuttle to get downtown at night time
Review 121:IMy son is 6' 4" and he as not able to take a shower comfortably, nor was my Husband and son able to be comfortable going to the bathroom, the 2nd bed was so close to the wall you had a hardtime getting onto the bed. The pool was not really that clean very cloudy.
Review 122:The Staff was nice
Review 123:The only thing we didn't like was when returning to the hotel late at night, the parking lot out front was full and the card reader at the rear entrance close to our room didn't work.
Review 124:We very much enjoyed our stay at QI&S in Middletown. We stayed 4 nights. The hotel is conveniently located close to Newport. Staff was friendly, room was clean, comfortable bed with plenty pillows! Small refrigerator, microwave & hair dryer in room! EXCELLENT morning breakfast! Couldn't beat the price at QI&S! We'd definitely stay here again.
Review 125:The hallways and rooms were outdated and depressing, nothing like the photos online that look bright and new. The wifi didn't work and the TV was finicky too....every time we turned it on it said, "No Signal" and we had to play around with it to get it to work. Our view was awful too - looked out onto a roof & trash cans & the blinds were broken, so we could barely adjust them. The wall above the TV had holes in it where they must have initially attempted to hang it & then lowered it. Nothing about this hotel is "Quality," trust me! I should mention that our King size room was $99/night (thank god that's all we paid vs. $209-219!) and that might be why our room was so bad, but I cannot say for sure because I did not see any other rooms. But even so, even the doors and hallways were dark wood, shabby, & completely outdated.
Review 126:The lobby and entrance were fine and relatively updated which gave me hope that some of the horrible reviews I read were wrong.
Review 127:The hotel's website is misleading. It states the hotel has undergone a complete renovation, which is not true. Some areas have been renovated and the lobby and breakfast area are very nice. However, the rooms are small and in average condition at best. With two adults and two adult-size children, we felt very cramped. The first room they put us in had a non-working bathroom door. We moved to another room. The bathroom door closed, but the toilet did not shut off automatically and the water gushed loudly into the bowl until you jiggled the handle. If nobody remembered to stop the running toilet, the seat was soaked from the splashing of the fast-moving water. Yuck. We reported this to hotel maintenance the first morning we were there, and while they promised to fix it right away, it never got fixed. Also, we had to get our room keys replaced more than ten times in five days! They de-magnetized every few hours. It was very unpleasant to get back to the hotel after several hours on the beach, ready for showers, to find our keys didn't work yet again. The front desk staff is well-aware of this issue (it apparently happens all the time) and quickly replaced the cards each time. Also, while the room air-conditioner worked well, the hallways are very hot as none of the hall a/c units were working. We were toward the back of the hotel and faced a long hot walk to the front lobby area multiple times a day. (Thankfully the a/c in the lobby and breakfast area was working). This hotel also has the narrowest halls I have ever seen, which adds to the cramped suffocating feeling we had everywhere except the lobby and breakfast room. Finally, the security is non-existent. Several of the outside doors had non-working key card access, so this hotel's "solution" was to simply keep those doors unlocked at all times, 24 hours a day! We even found one door toward the back of the hotel tied open with rope.
Review 128:Decent hot breakfast with eggs and sausage, and a make-your-own waffle station. Good coffee. Super friendly staff.
Review 129:The bathroom was in disrepair and had a few tiles near the floor missing.
Review 130:The friendly professional staff and the full breakfast was great. A good value for such a popular location.
Review 131:Not informative staff of tourist area. Seems like they should know the area that is the main attraction. Staff didn't even let us know about the wifi so we never used it. Parking around the back was poorly lit.
Review 132:Breakfast was great. Room was great value and super quiet and comfortable.
Review 133:Size of the room was small I thought it was a little overpriced for the size of the room and quality of the hotel On the second day both of our keys did not work upon our return to the hotel, went to the desk and asked them to reinstate our keys - they did not ask for ID to confirm that was our room. The view from our room overlooked an overflowing trash bin and discarded furniture. Each morning we woke to the sound of very large seagulls fighting over the trash.
Review 134:Location Breakfast was decent Could tell the hotel was recently updated
Review 135:The hotel was under construction you couldn't get wifi anywhere. Then we get upgraded and the hot rub doesn't work. It wasn't the cleanest place either. The one computer they had was in a different language. We were unable to get. Ahold of a manager to see if we could get a discount for all the inconvince, but the front desk couldn't reach her.
Review 136:Location was great for Newport just a 10min drive. Staff was nice with all our problems
Review 137:Saturday was crazy at breakfast. No where for everyone to sit. Might just be the holiday but hotel should be prepared.
Review 138:We appreciate having a bigger room with some extra space be ause we had 4 kids under 9 with us. We could swim in the pool even during Hurricane Arthur. The breakfast options were great. Maids cleaned and straightened room and even our many pairs of shoes!
Review 139:Hallways and lobby area was dirty.Room was strangely set up.2 small rooms and 1large room were empty except for a table and a light.Bathroom was very small impossible to close the door.Outside parking lot in rear was littered with construction debris nails and old mattresses.
Review 140:Comfortable bed .A/c worked well and was comfortable.Breakfast was ok.Staff was friendly.
