Reviews for Grand Beach Resort Hotel
Review 1:It was very hot in temperature in both the room and breakfast area. We had to have the sliding glass door open to cool it down to a bearable temp. And this is November. Fruit (oranges) at breakfast were old and shriveled.
Review 2:Clean room
Review 3:Breakfast not the greatest. Would have liked some eggs and a meat. Decaf Coffee pots empty. Better fruit would be nice.
Review 4:Staff very accommodating and helpful.
Review 5:My fiancé and I and another couple had booked a standard room with two queen beds and we were pleasantly surprised to find that we had been upgraded to a suite. It made our vacation very relaxing and enjoyable to have so much space. We felt at home. We also enjoyed the pool, hot tub, continental breakfast and of course the easy access and view of the water.
Review 6:The only bad thing is the street is busy, & it's not always easy to pull out. However, that's the overall area, so nothing the property can do to change that.
Review 7:You can easily walk down to the beach. We loved hearing the waves at night.
Review 8:Had a bad customer service experience with one employee in particular (everyone else was great, have sent email to manager about this issue). Room wasn't very clean, hair on the pillow cases, bathroom had dust in the corners and other fine details that should be gone over. "Adult Swim" was not enforced and we couldn't enjoy the pool due to two younger teens rough housing. Door key malfunctioned repeatedly and locked us out several times.
Review 9:Good price, breakfast was good, comfortable bed, local cable instead of "hotel tv", nice pool and hot tub.
Review 10:The front desk staff could have been a little more friendly. Other staff were very nice.
Review 11:The rooms were clean and stocked. Nice decor in rooms. Comfortable beds.
Review 12:Front desk staff was not very friendly.
Review 13:The king-sized room, sleeper sofa facing the beach was beautifully appointed and decorated. The view of Grand Traverse Bay was magnificent. Location was perfect for visiting friends and central to everything we wanted to do in town.
Review 14:The front desk was bordering on rude. Check in made me feel like I was irritating the clerk. My key did not work consistently. I went to the front desk twice to fix the problem. I was made to feel like I did not know how to use the key. The second time was the same attitude although a new key was made with resentment. It worked. There was someone else's hair in the bathtub. I agreed to this room and the price because of the potential bath experience. I couldn't even look at the tub. There are a lot of other choices in Traverse City. I will use them.
Review 15:However, there is a very big difference in having lake view or parking lot view. When I reserved the room, this was not mentioned and when we got to the hotel we have been told that it was not possible to change the room. I wouldn't go for a second time to stay in a parking lot view room.
Review 16:The location is nice, being on the lake.
Review 17:We booked a room at the Grand Beach but were moved to the Sugar Beach next door instead because they were overbooked (but this was not a big deal as both facilities appeared to be almost identical)
Review 18:Great location on the bay. We were able to travel with ease to other cities and attractions from this location. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and we got a kick out of the swan towel waiting for us when we first walked in:)
Review 19:I was on the first floor with a waterfront view. Wish the door wall have the light curtain so like could come through. It only had the heavy curtain.
Review 20:Great location. Room and hotel were nice. TC is very nice
Review 21:We felt like we were at home! Very comfortable! It was a relaxing getaway in a beautiful city. We most enjoyed having a third floor balcony that overlooked the bay.
Review 22:It was kinda pricey for what we got I feel like it needed to be updated the decor and all! Nothing too bad.
Review 23:That it was right on the beach and the staff was friendly. It was really clean.
Review 24:The parking was horrible, if you got there after dark, there was NO parking. The cost of the room was too high for what we got, way too expensive.
Review 25:The staff as a general rule was very warm and inviting, only one that was not. The bed and pillows were great!!! It was close to everything.
Review 26:Bed was too soft for me - prefer firmer bed but just my preference!.
Review 27:Location, price/value for a Sunday check in. Friendliness of staff Proactive in ensuring our satisfaction
Review 28:At check-in, young thin woman treated me as if "well, here's another old fart checking in". No "Welcome to the Grand Beach etc.". Just, business - I.D., credit card etc. Then, garbled directions to the room. At another time, same desk, had to de--magnetize our room keys. I was called "darlin". No, no, no!
Review 29:General friendliness of staff -with one exception. Clean room, well laid out etc.
Review 30:The manager and clerks at check in were absolutely delightful. Sorry I don't recall their names - I was on a 3 week road trip. Any way they were the loveliest staff we encountered in all the hotels. Room was spacious and comfortable!
Review 31:Look above
Review 32:For the high rate paid, not a good value. Room had damaged finishes (walls ceilings),stained carpet.we were celebrating our 10 yr wedding anniversary. We reserved thwacking suite. The king mattress was extremely firm, and caused my back to go out ruining our trip. I discussed my issue with the staff and gave me a less than 10% refund. Poor poor poor customer service. Who has a king suite with an extra firm mattress(1)?, then doesn't make the guest aware of it when booking the room(2)?. I should have received full refund.
Review 33:Staff was very friendly and accomodating, the room was BIG, comfy, clean and utd on all renovations and amenities. Nice pool, hot tub and of course SUPERB location right on the beach. Excellent value. Overall a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back! :)
Review 34:The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We were in the building not attached to the main building. Very quiet even though there were 2 busloads of hockey players
Review 35:The staff was very nice, the beach front was great with all of their amenities. The room was very spacious & comfortable. If I were to stay again, I might get a beach side room for the view of the Bay. Great location, close to everything bayside.
Review 36:People allowed in whirlpool/ hot tub in street clothes. Very unsanitary
Review 37:The wonderful variety at Breakfast that we could take to our room or eat in the dining room. Great beach and beach activities! Friendliness of staff.
Review 38:The room wasn't as clean as I was hoping. It looked like the sinks and tub hadn't been cleaned before we got there.
Review 39:We had an excellent view of the beach from our room. The location was perfect!
Review 40:The breakfast wasn't what I would expect for the price of the hotel, and the setup was very inconvenient for how many people there were coming in and out of the breakfast room.
Review 41:The room was great, the view was amazing. The beach is very well taken care of.
Review 42:Too many children - they took over everything including the beach, pool, ice machines, and breakfast area. Standing on the wash off spicket on the beach, throwing sand, jumping on the lounge chairs. I have not been on vacation in 10 years and will not be back to TC.
Review 43:It was on the beach
Review 44:The view of the beach and water sitting on the balcony. Having the elevator to take my luggage up to the 3rd floor. Used the clean, bright stairs the rest of the time.
Review 45:Breakfast is a joke. Backed up all the time and food is terrible. Waffle machine is backed up- heres a clue, buy more cheap waffle makers to fix problem. Wifi was weak and out most of time. Outside balcony was dirty and full of spiders and webs, cleaned 3 months ago??? Could not use balcony, went inside
Review 46:I'd be hard pressed to find anything. Perhaps their breakfast could be a bit more substantial
Review 47:The staff is friendly and very helpful. The beach is heaven, many activities or just to lay and soak up the sun
Review 48:I'd asked to be in a room away from the ice machine& elevator and we were placed in the room closest to both on our floor. Also asked for a beach view, had parking lot view. When I asked to be moved, was told no and one reason was because I'd booked to room via Booking.com.
Review 49:Location, on the beaxh
Review 50:More variety for breakfast. Would prefer having eggs for breakfast rather than waffles or French toast.
Review 51:The size of the room and the cleanliness of the whole establishment.
Review 52:Breakfast was less than desirable; especially for the cost of the room. jacuzzi was dirty and staff seem to be upset about my request for them to come in and clean it.
Review 53:Staff was friendly. Room was a decent size.
Review 54:Our trip was too short!
Review 55:comfort, safety, choice of activities and best location on the beach with balconies facing the calming water. Coming from Chicago, this was a real treat to our senses.
Review 56:We were out all day and did not return until 4:30 pm from a day of touring. Our room was not cleaned and we did not get into our room until after 5:30 pm. This was disappointing. I would not recommend the room with the Murphy beds. These were not comfortable.
Review 57:The staff was very nice and helpful. We asked them for recommendations on places to eat and they even gave us a hand drawn map. The laundry facility was very nice and clean.
Review 58:only 2 washcloths, one hand towel, but 6 bath towels. Ironing board in center of room, very tacky. price way to high, room needs painting not enough parking available. Noisey at night.
Review 59:the view was great
Review 60:Bathroom set up was awkward with sink out in the main part of the room....had king bed room.
Review 61:Beds were comfortable and liked the table and chairs on the patio
Review 62:We would have liked a little more variety for breakfast but overall very good.
Review 63:Grand beach was very family friendly and our overall stay was wonderful.
Review 64:Bed was not comfortable, air conditioner/heater fan was loud. Did not like the fact you allow smoking on beach or grounds as it ruined a walk along water, use of outdoor furniture, etc..
Review 65:Right on the Bay and near several shops, restaurants, entertainment and 4-5 miles from Downtown. Great wine tasting experiences not far away. Friendly staff... Several outdoor activity rentals nearby. (Kiak, bikes, motor water craft, water boards, etc..)
Review 66:I had no problems but my husband said the bed was uncomfortable.
Review 67:Having access to the beach right outside our door was perfect with three toddlers. Loved that you could see the sunrise and sunset from our patio.
Review 68:1/ when I booked the room, no info regarding the view (on the lake or not) 2/ breakfast: a disaster to start the day; paper plates, plastic forks, spoons, ... and tables not cleaned ....
Review 69:Asked for room away from ice and elevator and got room directly across from both. LOTS of kids running around.
Review 70:Beautiful views, very nice staff. Comfortable room and bed. Had to check out a day early- no problem at all.
Review 71:TV was a little small, hallways are a little noisy. Besides that, no complaints!
Review 72:We stayed for a soccer tournament, and don't spend much time in our room. However, the staff was very kind and the facilities were clean and updated. My son said the pool was much warmer than his friends pool down the road!
Review 73:Breakfast room too small, too many people, and between the bodies and the pool being so close to the room, it was too hot to eat in the breakfast room, we had to take our food and go outside.
Review 74:We got there at 12:30 PM and the room was ready and they let us check in early.
Review 75:Heating system very noisy. Staff was not helpful. When checking out the staff did not seem interested in our concerns or comfort. Breakfast uninviting to say the least.
Review 76:Location was good.
Review 77:The room was very nice. The jacuzzi tub is the largest I've ever seen in a hotel room. It was heavenly. I enjoyed having the refrigerator and microwave. The morning breakfast was nice too. The view of the bay is fantastic.
Review 78:I just wish the walls and ceiling had better sound proofing. We had noisy neighbors.
Review 79:My sister & I stayed here for the first time, so we could visit our brother at Munson Med. Center. Everything was very clean, and the beds very comfy! The lake view was wonderful as well!
Review 80:Workout facility is not good - one treadmill that is outdated. Paid for a "garden view" but was given a room on first floor with the only view being the parking lot. We had to keep the shades closed the entire time so that we weren't on display. I asked for another room but the staff said they were almost booked and didn't even check the computer (sign outside said vacancy). Our room was outdated and everythin in it was well worn. Bathroom was rusty around the edges and because of that didn't have a very clean and welcoming feeling. Two years ago I believe we stayed in an updated room, but this time we got a room that appeared to be overpriced and outdated. Unfortunately we will look around next year as we feel for the price we can get the same if not better experience (in the Fall) with a more updated room than what we got.
Review 81:Location is great, as you're on the main strip. Staff is knowledgable and for the most part quite friendly! Overall a pleasant stay because we did not spend much time at the hotel. Is a great hotel to stay at during the summer, but we stayed during mid October.
Review 82:The Noise level on parking lot side was not great as the window was open for room comfort. Not just the traffic noise but employees talking for hours and customers cursing in lot early morning hours. The beds also could have been a little more comfortable.
Review 83:Pool and Spa were great, size of room was great. The selection of restaurants and breweries/ wineries in the area is awesome.
Review 84:Very noisy hallways and all doors slam shut which will wake you up! Shower heads need replacing so you get better stream
Review 85:Very nice staff Clean, clean, clean In room microwave and refrigerator Continental breakfast Nice pool and hot tub Bed was comfy
Review 86:Constant smell of cigarette smoke. Coffee was supposed to be out 24/7. Couldn't even get one cup at breakfast. Very tired, worn, dated. Moldy bathroom.
Review 87:The swimming pool
Review 88:The continental breakfast was good but it just seemed like the coffee was always empty or they ran out of juice, I just think it could have been better
Review 89:Waking up to the view every morning was incredible. The beach was soft and clean, the view of the bay was so pretty.
Review 90:When I compared to staying in downtown Chicago at Embassy Suites for$300 a night in July, and this included a full breakfast your charge of$200 a night was ridiculous. Besides having to pay a resort fee. Evenafter labor day.
Review 91:smell in the room the door to the loggia were not working and had to be repaired immediately almost no wifi connection breakfast - small room, limited choice of food (no meat)
Review 92:beautiful view
Review 93:At the rates they charge, the breakfast bar could have been better. Mostly carbs & hard boiled eggs, no other protein besides yogurt & milk.
Review 94:Our room was lovely and clean. With a beautiful view on the beach. Beds were super comfy. We used the exercise room and pool as well. We can't wait to return next year.
Review 95:The whole resort was clean. Staff was great. The resort was my first stop on my trip and being in my third hotel now it so far has been the best. The price I got it for can not be beat. Thank you for an enjoyable stay with you.
Review 96:The bed was a little uncomfortable.
Review 97:The veiw from our room was amazing, the room was clean, and the staff was very friendly. Location was perfect for everything we wanted to do.
Review 98:I like a firm bed, didn't like the pillows. Asked for a late departure was told no way, not even asked why I needed it.
Review 99:Being right on the lake shore, having a frig, microwave, coffee right in the room.
Review 100:We were on the main floor. We would request an upper floor room next time.. It was uncomfortable to leave patio door curtain open when people would be walking by.
Review 101:The cheaper rate after labor day. It was quiet when we stayed at GB. (timing of reservation, after labor day.)
Review 102:Parking was a little tight not many spots left was returning in the evening. The breakfast was ok nice to have but not as many choices as I'm used to. Not many places to walk to so we had to drive to go to lunch and dinner.
Review 103:I liked that our room was right on the beach with a great view and chairs and umbrellas set up for us. Room was comfortable and clean with everything we needed for our few day stay.
Review 104:The breakfast area was quite crowded.
Review 105:The room was wonderful. Clean and decorated very nicely. Loved the nautical decorations. I would choose a balcony room again.
Review 106:Would suggest Keurig coffee pot instead of those (yuck) coffee pods; don't like the styrofoam breakfast ware; need more parking!
Review 107:Easy access to beach; great view of the bay
Review 108:The selection on the breakfast bar was great, but the lay-out made for long waits because of the waffle maker and toaster. It would have been nice to have a line behind and in front.
Review 109:Liked our balcony beachside. Was rather cool so I couldn't enjoy it for as long as I would have liked. I also liked the 2 sinks (in and outside of the bathroom)- we weren't in each other's way.
Review 110:Strange bathroom layout. Maybe there's a reason the tub is open to the bedroom. Maybe that's only in the king bed rooms.
Review 111:Clean room, quiet, supportive mattress
Review 112:Bed sheets were kind of rough and ill-fitting. Shower head was great if one were sunburned, but terrible for rinsing hair... Settings would be nice.
Review 113:Very quiet and breakfast was adequate. Spacious, comfortable room. Good parking and safe area. Beach access nice.
Review 114:Asked for early check in because had tour planned. Didn't appear that the request was actually communicated to the cleaning crew.
Review 115:Loved the rooms and the beach access. Staff very friendly.
Review 116:Reception, maid wasn't ready to clean until. 3pm so I cancelled. Check out requested 12 pm receptionist said we can't do but amazingly enough day before maid was cleaning after 3 pm. No restaurant or bar.
Review 117:Good air conditioning. Nice bed
Review 118:The set up for breakfast. The flow in horrible, needs to be rethought. We went out to breakfast the second morning to avoid all the stress in the breakfast area.
Review 119:The rooms are very nice, clean and comfy!
Review 120:Breakfast staff not friendly at all Need a better system. The line starts where the trash is. A much better flow system is needed. The room was a little over priced, in my opinion about $30 too much.
Review 121:Most staff was friendly. The ladies cleaning our room were very nice, and accommodating. (even though they were gossiping)
Review 122:Bed was somewhat uncomfortable. Had a problem w/ the shower leaking into the bedroom and the carpeting. The staff took care if it immediately! Would have been nice to have been offered something for the inconvenience...but they were really apologetic and super nice.
Review 123:Awesome, friendly staff! Great beach location! Nice room.
Review 124:Hotel was on busy road and it was impossible to open a window. Room has a bad odor and opened window was a necessity. It is on beach but when your window is on the other side this doesn't mean anything. I asked to move us to a beach view and to pay the difference but was told that because I booked on line they have a limited control over this. Sounds strange but... I hated to go to our room and we tried to stay outside as late as possible. beach is packed with boats because of the condo next to the hotel. Public beach near by is nice but there is no pedestrian path. Was expensive, cost us $390 for two nights but if your windows face the highway it could be any hotel on the other side of highway for lower price. Included Breakfast consisted from carbs only.
Review 125:Public beach nearby was nice.
Review 126:the breakfast was a joke, a long line all a.m. food poor, not organized well for service, people leaving without getting any food.
Review 127:beautiful location, great room, comfy sofa, fridge and microwave, nice balcony, upgrade bath.
Review 128:Price. I think the price for 2 days was insane. Over 500 dollars. Not really sure why it was so expensive it wasn't much different than any other hotel I've ever been to. The location is the only reason it would be that expensive.
Review 129:Location, View of beach, Bed, Room comfort. Other attractions around the hotel Including Go karts!
Review 130:The hotel was clean and well decorated, the staff was very helpful and friendly. The location was great too, right on the beach with plenty of restaurants and entertainment close by.
Review 131:The fact that I couldn't stay longer!!!!!
Review 132:The beautiful views, with the hussel and bussel of city life only to turn your head to see the tranquility of the beach and people enjoying their leisure stroll on it...
Review 133:The mosquitos that took over the outside balcony. And the efficiency if the breakfast line. Waffle irons and toaster should have separate line to keep main line moving.
Review 134:Rooms were clean and very comfortable. Resort was located in an excellent location.
Review 135:Our room was not thoroughly cleaned. Bathroom mirror was not cleaned over two days, including when we first arrived.
Review 136:The hotel is on a beach with lots of activities for kids and families. Breakfast included fresh fruits, cereal, muffins, waffles, juice and coffee.
