Reviews for Park Place Hotel

Review 1:Only complaint was that the room was quite dusty & not as clean as we would have liked for the money we paid. Not gross by any means, just could have been better.

Review 2:The location is great! You can walk to all the shops & pubs, there is so much to do. The Cherry T ball drop was right outside the hotel, best New Years Eve celebration we have been to. The lounge on the top floor was really great too, beautiful view & cool atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Review 3:We will never come to this hotel again. The room was cramped. The heating didn't work correctly and no wonder as the venting system was so dirty looking it was disgusting. The tub wouldn't drain so we showered standing ankle deep in dirty water. The worst of it was that the staff were completely unsympathetic!

Review 4:Problem with heat/ac. But sure it will be fixed.

Review 5:Have stayed here each year since 2001 to go to the TSO concert for Christmas. The location is great for us; as well as Minerva's. We also really like the hotel's ambiance.

Review 6:Water in our bathroom was cold and took forever to get hot to even wash hands. And the toilet in our friends room had an 'unpleasant' gift left in it. When asked to be cleaned the staff simply flushed the toilet and did not clean it.

Review 7:Location and having food and bars onsite were wonderful. Food and drinks were great. Piano player in the lounge could have been better.

Review 8:We had dinner one evening during our stay in the hotel dining room. While the salad was fine, the main dish was inedible. My husband and I ordered the sausage dinner presented as part of the special Oktoberfest menu. When we suggested to the waitress that the German potato salad was mostly sugar sprinkled on cooked potatoes, she indicated that the corporate headquarters determines the recipes offered. The sausage and sauerkraut also tasted just awful, but the cooked onions and red cabbage were acceptable. We were so disappointed that we will probably never eat in this dining room again, although we did appreciate everything else the Park Place Hotel had to offer.

Review 9:Great location. Lovely room.

Review 10:I understand "historic" but from the elevators, the room, the work out area was all of poor and unkept condition. I understand why the front desk did not ask me about my staff upon check out. Not worth the rate..should have taken the 4 minute drive to the outter part of town and would have gotten a much better value.

Review 11:Location and Parking. The breakfast at the restaurant was fantastic.

Review 12:The front desk needs some training. Checked me in as wrong person, and checked me out as a completely different person??

Review 13:The restaurant staff was excellent.

Review 14:Room did not have hot water spider was in the bathroom, house keeping cleand room first day and nothing else. we were there for 4 nights. we had to ask for towel

Review 15:My only complaint is that there was one mirror (in the bathroom), and with two women trying to put on make-up, it was a bit of a challenge.

Review 16:I loved the lobby of the Park Place. It was beautifully furnished and the soft classical music was very relaxing. While I was waiting to check in, I was greeted by one of the staff and made to feel very welcome. The room was lovely and we enjoyed a beautiful view of the bay. We ate a Minerva's twice, and each time the waitresses were very friendly, efficient and attentive.

Review 17:Love this property as it is located within walking distance of everything downtown. Beautiful old and lovely hotel. Rooms are extra spacious and so comfortable.

Review 18:Tthe Front Desk Lady looked as if we were Trying to steal her FirstBorn! Not friendly had a Mean look. We also asked several timesthroughout our arrival and later in the evening if we could stay anothernight. She repeatldly said they were booked. When we checked out in theam the New Pleasent Desk clerk said yes they had several roomsavailable! Too Late so we checked out! How dissapointing.

Review 19:Location was Fantastic to walk to downtown , shopping and Dining. Thiswas our First time doing this in tc (We normally stay on the Water andDrive to downtown)

Review 20:Jacuzzi was not working in the pool area. Should include free breakfast at that price.

Review 21:The staff was fabulous, Tamera at the front desk was most helpful. The beds were like sleeping on a cloud. The rooms were clean and nice sized. Beautiful building and in the center of town. Very nice, I would stay again.

Review 22:Our beds were missing the top layer so the room was chilly the first night. Being an older hotel, the bathroom layout is a little tight.

Review 23:The location is fantastic for full walking access to the Front Street area. Elevators were quick so trips back and forth to the room were fast. Kids loved the pool.

Review 24:The only thing I would complain about was the reception on the tv. I was watching the Women's World Cup final and had to sit really close to see it.

Review 25:I really enjoyed the staff at the hotel and also the location. The location was key because most things were within walking distant.

Review 26:Room was very dusty and a lot of cobweb and we found three spiders in the bathroom on spider web. There was some hair on the bed before we even get in the bed.

Review 27:Check in staff very unprofessional and difficult. Bad way to start. They also lost part of our reservation on very busy 4th of july. Place is getting run down a bit. Had to sleep in a dog room.

Review 28:Location and pretty decent soft beds. Guy upstairs in catering dept was nice. We just happened to run into him and he helped with directions.

Review 29:My biggest issue is that the park place did not mention a 20 dollar a night fee for the pet until we arrived. It's not a lot of money, but its the principle.

Review 30:The pool area and gym areas were not 24/7. The locker room was dingy and needed attn. Seems like The pool area should be maintained inbetween check in and check out times. The top level needs a tinted limit table for those who want a shorter glimpse of the view.

Review 31:The decor was classy and the plumbing works added a whimsical touch. The front desk attendant was knowledgeable and amicable. Piano player was highly enjoyable.

Review 32:After driving 6 hours to get there and arriving later in the evening we just wanted to unwind. They checked us into a room that hadn't been cleaned yet. Someone brought us new keys to a different room and apologized after walking away, turning a corner, and yelling his apology back to us. The T.V. kept dropping the signal. There was no hot water when we washed up to go to sleep. The toilet is an extremely loud flush, like a toilet on an airplane. Shower temp in the morning was tepid at best. As we checked out, I started to explain some of the things we were unhappy with and the desk attendant processed my credit card and laid my receipt in front of me to sign before I had even finished explaining. Rude at best. Won't ever stay here again.

Review 33:Bathrooms are cold in the winter - and there is a small amount of mold that needs attention. Windows could use a good cleaning.

Review 34:Nice location to downtown activities (but not on the water). Nice amenities with a roof top piano bar that has a great view!

Review 35:Power washing for two hours straight, at 10 pm at night. They gave 20% off for that night for the inconvenience, was nice of them.

Review 36:Parking and location convenient. Beautiful view from lounge though small. Pool facility lovely.

Review 37:That we had to leave!

Review 38:What's not to like/love! Great location, friendly and efficient staff, lovely surroundings. We will most certainly be back to do our downtown Traverse City post Thanksgiving/ pre Holiday shopping Our stay needs to be longer next year! Note: If you use my name, which you are welcome to do, please...it is Ruth Ann not Ruth,

Review 39:The rooms, bathrooms and pool areas are showing their age. For the big money, guests really don't get any perks.

Review 40:You cant beat the location of the Park Place. Park the car and hit Front Street shops, pubs and nearby foodie places!

Review 41:The room was a little cramped. The parking lot is designed for small vehicles. If you have a large SUV or truck its difficult to manuever and park.

Review 42:The location is close to downtown so many local shoppes are within walking distance. The room was clean and the staff was very pleasant and accommodating.

Review 43:Not offered options for work space when check out could only be extended to 12:30pm. Also, gift shop t-shirt size options were sparse. Should reorder t-shirts before you run low.

Review 44:Staff were friendly and room was clean and tidy.

Review 45:Small Room amd Small Bathroom. Shower head was way too short. The Restaurant was horrible. The Pool was dirty and the Fitness Facility was Outdated.

Review 46:The Location

Review 47:Light bulb burned out - no curved shower rod in a small shower - broken light switch cover - poor tv size and picture quality-- just seemed like the owners don't care. great location - the economy is back - FIX IT UP

Review 48:Location

Review 49:A bit over priced, and the bathroom was very small, and dated.

Review 50:Location, parking, and staff were the biggest pluses. The room itself was comfortable and clean.

Review 51:No shuttle service!

Review 52:The rooms were comfortable enough but the best part is the rooftop bar!! Great bartenders and views! The location was excellent. Walking distance to tons of shops and bars

Review 53:Only the summer price! :) But we will be back.

Review 54:We have stayed here several years ago, and always liked being downtown and able to walk around and enjoy the city. It was clean, very good condition, staff were very friendly. We will definitely stay here again. Good time at the Top of the Beacon Club!

Review 55:Everything was wonderful, as I said. in my letter. We look forward to returning in the future. It's so very nice to stay at a place and feel right at home. This was how I felt from the moment I walked into my room. With the cleanliness being at the top of my list. Thanks again Mary and Doug

Review 56:Nice, comfortable beds

Review 57:I love the location, historical setting and its very quiet.

Review 58:We love the location and our room was in the historic Tower which we also love. We had a King room and their was plenty of room.

Review 59:Children should be on a separate floor. No continental breakfast.

Review 60:Location and convince.

Review 61:The service was not what I would expect for this hotel. The food was awful and definitely not worth what I paid!

Review 62:The location is fantastic!

Review 63:The king size bed needed more pillows.

Review 64:It was very comfortable and clean. The dinner at Minerva's was great.

Review 65:Desk staff was rude. Hotel is no frills, outdated!

Review 67:Rooms are old and out dated and over priced.

Review 81:Its an older hotel, bathroom was a bit cramped

Review 82:Located in the heart of downtown

Review 83:Friendly people at the check in

Review 87:Location. Top lounge.

Review 88:Nothing

Review 89:Loved the staff, the room was nicer than "just a hotel room", the pool is great, the 10th floor lounge is great

Review 90:The pool area had mold around the windows. I need updating in that area of the hotel.

Review 91:Really like the location. The room was awesome.

Review 92:Heater very nosy all night long

Review 93:Proximity to downtown. Beacon Lounge for evening entertainment

Review 94:Location, location, location!

Review 95:Small room. King bed seemed like a queen.

Review 96:Walking distance to downtown. Good hotel bars.

Review 97:Rooms were fabulous

Review 98:We had a great room with terrace and jacuzzi bath

Review 99:We had to call house keeping to bring up towels because they didn't replace the ones they took.

Review 100:The location was perfect!

Review 101:Rooms were way too small. Bed was uncomfortable and pillows were half size. Bathroom facilities were small and in need of updating also.

Review 102:Unfriendly staff

Review 103:Great Location and super comfortable beds that smelled so clean

Review 104:rooms service cleanliness

Review 105:location

Review 106:Easy access to downtown, bike trails.

Review 107:Would be nice to have power outlets in living room/bedroom for phone charging.

Review 108:Noisy junky room small bathroom road noise no charm

Review 109:Downtown location

Review 110:Rooms a bit rundown and small. I can't imagine that, during highseason, this hotel can command the prices they do. At over $150 pernight this hotel is not worth it.

Review 111:The location and the staff was helpful.

Review 112:The water in the sink and shower was hot and hotter, no cold. I'm sure this was an issue that only effected this room.

Review 113:I had special needs for parking my vehicle and the staff went well out of their way to accommodate.

Review 114:Front desk staff wasn't very knowledgable about area, like restaurant suggestions and bus route inquiry. They didn't seem very well trained.

Review 115:Location in Traverse City downtown area.

Review 116:The only thing that would keep me from staying her in the summer is the price, but I know that's the way it goes.

Review 117:Location! Friendly staff. Nice rooms. Great top o the Park experience. Good breakfast. Price of room (winter),

Review 118:ridiculously small size of bathroom, could hardly get between edge of door and counter. needs redesign toilet tissue holder location awful, my arm does not bend that way. spot on carpet in hall

Review 119:restaurant nice wait staff pleasant bed comfortable

Review 120:high room rate; small bathroom; lack of amenities in the bath/shower room; plus, room cleaning was somewhat on the shabby side

Review 121:convenience to downtown traverse city.

Review 122:The rooms were small. Hotel has charm but not as nice as newer moremodern hotels. I thought the room was overpriced but realize that allrooms in the city were sold out so was glad to have it.

Review 123:I liked that the hotel was near Lake Michigan and in the city centernear shops and restaurants.

Review 124:Restaurant is convenient but nothing special. Roof-top bar is in serious need of updating

Review 125:Superb location-best in TC Well-maintained older property with nice charm, quiet
