Reviews for Hotel Royal @ Queens

Review 1:Breakfast was disgusting, almost no european food, except fried eggs and toast. Dirty plastic plates and cuttlery and no table cloths in a four star hotel??? There was no normal blanket and pillow for the third bed, although it was a 3 beds room. We had to ask 3 times extra pillows to get them. Only 2 sunbeds around the pool.

Review 2:Good location, very close to metro station and to Raffles Shopping Mall.

Review 3:The facilities and the hotel as a whole looks tired and old. The electric supply suddenly went off in our room. Took a while to have that fixed. That was happening when my friend was taking a bath...Not good...

Review 4:Location is excellent. Very close to MRT. Staff was keen to help.

Review 5:Small things can ruin an experience - when you find out two small water bottles with the hotel logo that were inside the minibar aren't complimentary, and that you're charged 2 dollars for each at checkout without any prior notification - that sort of makes you not want to go back to that place.

Review 6:the only thing wrong was the Beds; they were like sleeping on concrete. We are use to softer beds.

Review 7:Great location, room cleaned daily, we ate at their restaurant, was good, staff friendly and helpfull.

Review 8:Breakfast was expensive. Didn't eat there.

Review 9:Position is perfect close to MRT & shopping. Very friendly staff, clean & comfortable. Maybe a little tired decor in our room. Would go there again.

Review 10:There was no hot water at all. I was given a room with a connecting door to another room which was not ideal.

Review 11:The location on a quiet street in the middle of the city.

Review 12:The bar attached to the hotel is not actually anything to do with the hotel and is very expensive.

Review 13:Big rooms with very comfy beds, well equipped bathroom and plenty of tv channels for when you want to escape from the heat! WiFi also good.

Review 14:Shower curtain....

Review 15:For us, it was the location. We were attending a Tango Festival and venue was at Le Danz which was just across the road. Adding to that Bugis Junction was just a few mins' walk away, very convenient.

Review 16:Rooms were a bit tired, bathroom was dated and needs a bit of a renovation.

Review 17:The location was great, 2 minute walk from MRT and a quick walk to Bugis Junction.

Review 18:Staff need to be more proactive. More options for breakfast.

Review 19:Location - close to Bras Basah MRT and a minute walk to Bugis. Rooms are quite spacious and offer comfort. Good WiFi connection.

Review 20:The staff could be nicer. Not particularly warm and inviting though they did allow an early check so I am grateful.

Review 21:The location is the best part of this hotel. Stones throw from Bras Basah MRT.

Review 22:No complimentary water, you have to pay for water there ,after paying £460.00 for 3 nights its a joke. would not recommend to anyone .

Review 23:nothing, very basic

Review 24:THE SHOWER HEAD IN THE BATH TUB IS NOT HIGH ENOUGH, WATER TEMPERATURE IS NOT PROPERLY ADJUSTABLE

Review 25:GOOD LOCATION, CLOSE TO MRT, SHOPPING AND DINING SPOTS CLEAN ROOMS, COMFORTABKE BED

Review 26:The room was cleaned at the last moment and not really thoroughly. The amount of dust below the additional bed was unbelievable. Clearly, it was a bad idea to look there. I guess that's why they left a vaccum cleaner parked on the corridor next to our door all the time. Perhaps it was a self service suggestion.

Review 27:Location of this hotel is excellent. It is very close to restaurants and bars and just a few meters from the SMRT station.

Review 28:i had call the front desk for room extension and they had confirm. as my wife was sick and sleeping while i'm out. they front desk keep calling and knocking the door.. why messages is not pass down can cause such issues

Review 29:hotel is old bilding .Cleaning staff very lazy and not serious for cleaning the room . There is many dirt in narrow places in the room. Issued some strange voices come from room lighting cos its very old. no soap for clothes wacher and dishes in the kitchin and you have pay it for your self.

Review 30:location near mrt . the hotel on main street so easy for taxi to reach. have new big fridge and clothes wash machin in my family room

Review 31:Breakfasts too expensive and too little fare on offer for the Western traveler : plastic tablecloths were unacceptable. Concierge not always familiar with the guidebook's suggested highlights of Singapore.

Review 32:Location good : metro and highlights. Comfortable room and bed. Very helpful and willing staff.

Review 33:My family liked the way the staff treated us with hospitality. The people were all very nice and it was a very welcoming experience. We would definitely go back to Singapore and book in Hotel Royal @ Queens.

Review 34:The receptionist staff looked to be uninterested at our arrival. She didnot try to look at us, let alone smiled or stood up from her chair whenwe checked in. After asking to fill our particular, the only thing shesaid was "Remember, check out is at 12". The room was verydusty, to the point that you can see the dust without trying to.

Review 35:The location is fairly convenient. It is near to mrt station and apopular hawker centre. But otherwise there is nothing much surroundingthe hotel. The concierge staff who happened to help us seemed to bequite friendly.

Review 36:Not sure why the toilet is smelly. And inside the room, I can hear some kind of noises like from the pipes somewhere outside of the room. Pillows too soft.

Review 37:Thumbs up for the location!

Review 38:At least water should be supplied free, because it was used for making coffee or tea. We did'nt relish this sort of charging when we paid SS494 for 2 days stay.

Review 39:Even drinking water in two small bottles was charged for 5 SS and adjusted out of advance confirmation payment of SS5 made on 20.07.15 from Chennai, India, Being a 4 star hotel, we expected better facilities.

Review 40:The room was booked and sold as a room fit for 2 adults plus 2 kids (ages 9 & 6), however on check in we were offered a room with 2 single beds !!! This is misleading & cheating the client. How can 4 persons sleep on 2 single beds ??? After a lot of argument with the hotel staff, we were given a room with 2 single beds which were ''slightly'' larger than regular single beds. As we had no choice, we stayed an uncomfortable 5 nights ! Booking.com and the hotel must review their criteria for accepting bookings for 2 adults plus 2 kids !!! You must at least have 2 queen beds to accommodate 2 adults and 2 kids !

Review 41:Good location

Review 42:The room wasn't tidy. There was a leak from the ceiling, the air conditioning was also leaking and the floor was dirty.

Review 43:The location and price were superb. The bed was really comfy.

Review 44:Staff did not clean up the room as well as we would expect. Bed was a little stiff.

Review 45:Location is excellent, 2 minutes walk to MRT station, 5 to buses. Adjoining room for our teenage boys was also a good feature.

Review 46:breakfast is not so good

Review 47:traffic is convenient,5 minutes' walk to metro station ,not noisy nearby ,wifi connecition is stable. Receptionist is friendly , help me to print the e-ticket for the universal studio.

Review 48:I liked everything about this hotel. We arrived early in the morning and were able to check in right away. The staff was friendly and super helpful throughout the whole stay. The breakfast was great with a big variety of food. We were able to storage our luggage after we checked out and when we picked it up we were able to have a shower and get changed before heading of to the airport. Amazing service, great location. I would definitely stay there again.

Review 49:- Could hear to neighbours through a locked door connecting the rooms - Gym is tiny, only 2 treadmills

Review 50:- Comfortable rooms - Location is good - Staff friendly

Review 51:Front of house staff most unhelpful in arranging transport to the airport. Having stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions, it is now tired and urgently in need of upgrade.

Review 52:Convenient location.

Review 53:Reception staffs were nonchalant towards us initially. Maybe because we were dressed very casually with our baggage, etcetera. But after I made initial deposit payment with my Gold Amex, the reception improved. Definitely not a good impression for me.

Review 54:The bed was very comfortable. My fiancé and I slept well. Too well that we missed our breakfast!

Review 55:The only Pro is able to check in at 7am. Room is old, dirty, smelly. Staff is rude, especially the one named CINDY. wifi is slow. But cost SGD180 per night! So regret.

Review 56:Totally not worth the money. No complimentary bottled water, room is old although there's effort after some new renovation.

Review 57:Friendly staff, cleanliness is ok.

Review 58:It's really disappointed that the hotel NOT giving 2 bottles of water as compliment which most of the hotel do. The room we stayed is $200/night. X 4.

Review 59:Friendly and helpful staff, location of the hotel is excellent.

Review 60:Bath room was very smelly and the floor was very slippery. The service and attitude of the female staff who cooked the eggs is terribly poor. There were a lot of flying insects while having the breakfast. The quality of food was cheap and poor. The hotel looked cheap.

Review 61:The Bras Basah MRT station is just 50 metres away, which makes getting around both cheap and simple. The City Hall complex is five minutes away by foot.

Review 62:I think hotels rate in general are quite expensive in Singapore.

Review 63:Great location, close to Bugis so plenty for shopping, food, and arts. Close to MRT! Free WiFi, and it's clean, and staff don't bother you unnecessary, but can be helpful.

Review 64:They could have offered cheaper rates for my 5 night stay.

Review 65:The huge bed in the bedroom. Tv in both living n bed room. Very shortwalk to Bras Basah mrt Stn.

Review 66:1. Connecting room had a gap under the door and we could hear our neighbours and no doubt they could hear us as well.

Review 67:1. Great location 2. Huge bed 3. Good aircon

Review 68:Never makeup the room properly, just change towels inside the bathroom and little bit makeup on the bed only...

Review 69:Location is perfect.. just few meters to the MRT station

Review 70:Kitchen had too few dishes. We indicated this point to the recepetion and it not realy change. The room was not clean but on some rarely accessible spaces (Under bed ...).

Review 71:Staff courtesy. Because of the discount we had, the value for money was correct

Review 72:The morning after we arrived we received a 3.45 am wake up call that we did not ask for! Their mistake wrote down the wrong room no.! As we arrived late at night this was not a good start to our stay! Took their time sorting this out and apologising for their mistake....

Review 73:The breakfast spread was good, and close to transport options

Review 74:Not much choices to dine esp. halal places. Need to walk out to Bugis to shop or eat. Have to change trains to go to Orchard even if Hotel is next to MRT.

Review 75:Quiet area and next to Bras Basah MRT.

Review 76:i was slightly disappointed as i bought the deal with breakfast but got to know that the breakfast and food served is not Halal Certified.

Review 77:The place is confortable

Review 78:- Toilet smell - Visible mould between toilet tiles - Slightly dim room

Review 79:- Comfortable beds and pillows - Fairly spacious rooms - Location - Refrigerator, free wifi, ironing board and iron - Good value for money

Review 80:Cost of breakfast. We had breakfasts in local food halls which were much cheaper.

Review 81:Location was great. We spent time in the Bugis area which was a short walk away. MRT station just a minute away. Loved having our rooms available at 7am.

Review 82:Old mattress. Poor Wifi signal in some parts of room.

Review 83:rooms are clean and proper, water pressure is good and hot water comes promptly. furniture is a bit dated but didn't quite matter since its just a short stay. while sitting up straight on the mattress, could feel the springs against your bottom, probably due to old mattress or low quality, but it is fine when you lie flat. hotel is near the Bras Basah train station as well as some local food places. do try the restaurant just next to the hotel entrance named 'Food for thoughts'. really good all day breakfast !

Review 84:Stayed here in 2013 also. We love the area ... the old Colonial buildings and good walking distance to many spots. 2 minute walk to Bras Basah Train station; buses around the corner. View from the room window; pool and small outdoor seating area for relaxing..comfy beds..all good!

Review 85:Jacuzzi was not having hot water. Swimming pool should have full time attendant. Shoe polish machines should be available. Bathroom should have exhaust fan.

Review 86:Location the most. Food and clean rooms. Safety was also good.

Review 87:The kitchen ventilation is very poor. Suction is not good enough. The cooking smell stay in the room that cause our clothing smelly all the time.

Review 88:Room is spacious enough for big family of 7 adults like us. We like the location in between 2 cathedral. So honoured that the church is just walking distance frm where stay. Very convenient.

Review 89:Breakfast OK but could have been better. Fitness center too small and only equipped with treadmills.

Review 90:Excellent location, facilities, comfortable beds, good bathroom, good view over city, good air con. Wifi ok. Room big enough for two. Near SAM, National Museum etc. Not far from 7 eleven and 10 minutes from Bugis MRT and only 2 minutes from Bras Basah MRT.

Review 91:Charged me for a bill for breakfast buffet for something I didn't take. Te hotel claimed there were 4 adults who had breakfast the first morning but there were only 3 adults and 1 child which they said was supposed to be free. I asked for proof and the staff said they could not retrieve cctv at that time. I requested an email from them to send me the footage and I will gladly pay if there were 4 adults really who took the breakfast but no response until now. Unfriendly staff who just said it's just her job to present me the bill

Review 92:Location

Review 93:Breakfast is pretty poor for the price asked. Very rigid staff, I have to shift out to other hotel in the following night as my business meeting was unexpectedly dragged for additional day.

Review 94:Nothing specifically.

Review 95:Bed was very hard. Bathroom shower needed a good clean with bleach, lots of mould around tiles. Carpets around edges very dusty.

Review 96:Great location. Close to walk to Orchard Road, train station near.

Review 97:Price with booking.com is not the best deal. Fot 260$Sg, you can have the same type of room with breakfast but no internet...

Review 98:The location is really central. By walk or Mrt you can easely reach all main atractive places.

Review 99:The breakfast area needed updating, and the food was ok. The internet was only in the Lobby area. And there was a slight smell of stale smoke in the main lobby area obviously left over from the days when it was a smoking hotel

Review 100:Good location to walk to the malls and Raffles and cheap short taxi ride from the flyer. Room was big and clean as was the bathroom. Staff were really helpful

Review 101:NOTHING

Review 102:Everything the whole experience from the super friendly helpful staff in all aspects to the fabulous buffet breakfasts on offer daily. We have nothing negative whatsoever to say why? as MRT stations a few steps away giving u access to all areas of Singapore . Will stay here next time in Singapore ......

Review 103:The breakfast seems a bit boring after a couple days, not much change.

Review 104:The staff are very professional and helpful (always smile). Location of the hotel is good. I can walk to Orchard Road in 20 min., and Bugis street is just close by. Suntec is only 15 min. walking distance away.

Review 105:Pool and gym facilities were disappointing. There was only 1 changing room with a cold shower and not enough seating around the pool. Lockers were broken and unable to lock. Gym contained only 3 pieces of equipment. Towels were plentiful however. Breakfast was ok, enough choice and a great omelette option .... but have had much better in similar class of hotel. No area for coffee or socialising in this hotel. Great hotel for an overnight or business stay but not a great choice for a leisure break.

Review 106:Hotel was within walking distance of many attractions including Raffles hotel and Bugis Junction. MRT was at the end of the road and hop on hop off bus stopped at the end of the road. Hotel service and staff were excellent, nothing too much trouble. Rooms were clean and well stocked with complimentary toiletries. Drinks bar was overpriced as per usual for a hotel.

Review 107:- Rooms interior are old and could be cleaner; - Bathroom was not so clean; - Breakfast was not proper, no cheese, no honey, these are normally found in an average breakfast buffet.

Review 108:The location was good, close to center of the city.

Review 109:We unfortunately had noisy next door neighbours and a drummer playing his drums in the middle of the night under an apartment building opposite. Receptionist said the drumming was the first time it has occurred.

Review 110:Close to Metro station and centrally located in Singapore

Review 111:bed not comfortable could be little cleaner,

Review 112:all great I liked that I couldn't hear our neighbours shower or TV location great, great doorman helpful staff.

Review 113:no bar open most of the time no tablecloths, canteen effect pool area,no shade(umbrellas) no sun loungers group bookings, poor atmosphere for couples

Review 114:concierge service helpfull and friendly

Review 115:Staff are very task focussed and did not show any hospitality or warmness. They were solely interested in their work which was strange and did not even bother to smile which does not hurt. something I have seen in all the hotels which was sadly lacking at this hotel, even at check out the staff was very serious of the bill and wanted me to check and double check. A simple question like hope your stay was pleasant would have been good

Review 116:Easy access to all places of interest and ofcourse the MRT. Someone at the reception to welcome and smile at guests would be ideal since the staff at the desks are simply not bothered even to smile at guests or ask how are you.

Review 117:This is a good, comfortable hotel. It still smells like smoke from before the refurbishment but they are slowly getting rid of that.

Review 118:We travelled with two small children and were able to check in at 7am after a 12 hour flight which made life a lot easier. The staff were very helpful and the room was good.

Review 119:More choices of food for breakfast prefered.

Review 120:Very good location to museums and local shopping center. Easy transportation to and from city center and airport. Just a 2 minutes walk to MRT station and bus stop.

Review 121:We had been staying there regularly in the past and thought it was good, but this time discovered they have done little upgrading and maintenance as carpets and furniture, are looking worn. Breakfast was disappointing and not worth the extra expense.

Review 122:It is walking distance to the shops on Orchard road and other attractions. It was on a relatively quiet street, so could sleep easily, as the beds were fine. Staff were good.

Review 123:The suggestion that I pay for all 6 nights up front, when I arrived--it implies that I am not trustworthy, even though I quoted my credit card number in advance. Poor selection of western-type food menu choices for night dining, particularly for vegetarians. The building front could be made more attractive with some potted greenery--it looks softer and more inviting than stark concrete and paving. Having to awake at 4AM to book an airport Shuttle bus for 8AM pickup--cannot the night staff do this for their paying guests? The lower side of the building needs repainting--showing its age, despite wonderful upgrade renovations inside.

Review 124:Lovely room, comfortable bed, good lighting, personal safe for valuables. Great Security with room key system/lift access. Buffet Breakfast selection superb. Clean dining area. Staff are helpful and friendly, but their speech and accent is difficult to follow sometimes, even though English is Singapore's official language. A sit-down at reception for arriving guests is wonderful for those tired feet.

Review 125:I especially asked for a quiet room but the room was anything but quiet! You would only here the construction work during the day and stage music at night. I found the room quite dirty too. Dust and hair everywhere

Review 126:Staff was great! Everyone that I encountered was friendly and very helpful.

Review 127:Very ordinary breakfast - second rate Chinese and western food. Bed a bit hard for me but my husband liked it!

Review 128:Well located clean hotel, great for shopping, transport, eating and drinking. Big rooms, small but pleasant pool, helpful staff

Review 129:The carpet in the room was quite dirty and stained. The breakfast served was the same everyday with no change in options.

Review 130:As we had some work in the vicinity, the location was ideal. It is walking distance from Bugis market and Mall which had many eateries & shops. The locality was quiet & peaceful and hotel staff helpful.

Review 131:Endless tiny ants (not sure if they're really ants) appear on our table. Bathroom tile grout have mouldy black spots. Rubber tub mat should be replaced. Staff need to use more bleach.

Review 132:Love that it is close to Bras Basah MRT that conveniently takes us everywhere.

Review 133:Hotel Staff, very helpful and polite. Room was clean. Breakfast was great. We had no problems at all during our stay at this hotel. Hotel location was excellent only 200m to MRT which was excellent to travel around.

Review 134:Location, customer service, touch screen light switches, rather big room, pool

Review 135:Within walking distance to bugis junction & train station

Review 136:very nice hotel, very close to central singapore and marina bay sand,

Review 137:Check-out bill to confirm & sign by payee.

Review 138:Friendly staff & cleanliness.

The Fine Print
