Reviews for Newport Beach Hotel & Suites
Review 1:Had a room across from ice machine and the noise woke us up twice....never again. please put heavier door on room. loud voices of drunks in hall plua machine noise
Review 2:beautiful and clean
Review 3:Window faced a wall:( Could barely move in our room...so small:( Bathroom:( No where to eat or drink. For $200 dollars a night !
Review 4:The view is beautiful from the restaurant that ISN'T there.
Review 5:The housekeeping was slow and very loud. No restaurant/lounge in the hotel. Televisions did not work. The fire pit never lit and the jacuzzi deck area was filled with spiders and spider webs. Elevator in the historic building was terribly slow.
Review 6:I stayed in the historic part of the hotel. I liked the location of the hotel. It was right near the beach and cliff walk. The rooftop deck was lovely and the jacuzzi was excellent. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Everything was nicely updated, lobby, bathrooms.
Review 7:Room wasn't ready for us and at least two other couple at the designated check-in time (4pm) which we thought was unreasonable. Another sofa in a the sitting room would have been appreciated.
Review 8:Two bedroom suite was great for us, very large, kitchen had everything we needed, clean, good parking availability, close to beach - we loved it and would return
Review 9:The hallway smelled and felt very muggy. The bathroom was dirty. We asked to have the shower curtain be replaced. It had a lot of mold. The window shade was broken. Maintenance staff kept trying to fix it, but unable to.
Review 10:We were placed in the historic building in a room that was so tiny we were tripping over each other. The view in our reservation showed the bay and the actual view from our room was another window about 12 feet from our one window. Our reservation pictured the bay and sliding doors. In addition the toilet was broken and the coffee pot was not plugged in probably because it didn't reach the plug. I moved the pot to the floor and upon finishing brewing my coffee I poured in the provided creamer to have it curdle immediately. The staff were rude and not helpful. They did not care that we received less than what we were looking for and blamed it on us rather than helping us. Our stay was horrible. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Review 11:Nothing. Our stay was not what we anticipated. We wrote management and never received a response.
Review 12:Was misleading....pictures on website showed new building with ample room, but we were put in the historical building which was very, very small.
Review 13:The staff was very nice & helpful
Review 14:When booking on line, it should be very specific as to which room you are reserving, i.e. A picture of your room choice.
Review 15:The room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was spotless and bright and modern. Towels and bed linens were of very nice quality. Loved the hot tub and roof top deck. Peaceful and nice view.
Review 16:We did not like the 4pm check-in time. It is nicer to arrive earlier.
Review 17:What a great beach hotel. We especially enjoyed the indoor pool with a big screen TV. We loved the rooftop jacuzzi. Our room was awesome with a delightful view of the ocean.
Review 18:Hotel not accomodating about giving a rollaway bed despite asking at time of booking (months ahead) and again at checkin. Told they were reserved for people staying longer...we stayed 4 nights! Finally, an air mattress appeared on the second night, if they had this option why wasn't it given the first night when we voiced the need for something? At checkin there seemed to be a lot of people complaining about things.
Review 19:The location was overall very good, right across from Easton Beach and within walking distance to the Cliff Walk.
Review 20:Long check in and check out Loud doors slamming the design of the building indoors is like a maze Pool is.a small pool And upstairs jacuzzi isn't what it's cracked up to be
Review 21:Convenient spot but that's about it
Review 22:The hotel is on the main road and the hotel prices rise exponentially if you want to stay there over the weekend - Friday to Monday. When we stayed there the bar and restaurant were closed.
Review 23:Lovely hotel situated on the beach in Middletown about 10 minutes outside Newport historic centre. Walking distance to a few restaurants and bars
Review 24:This hotel was wonderful!! Spacious beautiful suites with all the amenities! I highly recommend this hotel. The front desk staff person was so friendly and she was helpful with places to see and restaurants that are kid friendly.! We will definitely be back!
Review 25:Not a bad experience but had issues with dirty shower liners, lack of step up to bed and disappearance of cozy bar and restaurant. Manager did take care of our issues.
Review 26:location to flower show, beach and local restaurants
Review 27:The hot water was yellow and scared me. Actually saw it stain a towel when I ran water directly on it. Wondered what it was doing to my body.
Review 28:Very nice room, very roomy!! Great beds, great view, and great location!!
Review 29:Clean, comfortable and perfect location across from arguably the best beach in Newport. Charming with beautiful nautical decor. Friendly staff. Historical hotel with an abundance of character.
Review 30:We were disappointed that the bar/restaurant was closed. It would have been nice and convenient if it was open.
Review 31:The room was very nice. The view from the room was wonderful. Enjoyed the convenience of the washer/dryer.
Review 32:Regular rooms are too small for the $, with a window view of a wall.
Review 33:Location! the TV wasn't working and hotel manager took care of it immediately, with a new TV. very clean and comfortable rest.
Review 34:The historic hotel has a few issues with noise and sound traveling through the walls and room door. It is a historic building so dont expect perfection or a Marriott. It was comfortable. There were some odd smells that were disconcerting but overall it was fine.
Review 35:Convenient to my meeting. Right across the street from the beach. I am sure in the summer it is really nice.
Review 36:Close proximity to the street. Our room was on 2nd floor facing beach and cars could be a little loud going by, but wouldn't trade for the view. Room needed blackout curtains for morning and didn't like walking outside in March to the other building for pool/jaccuzzi.
Review 37:View. Location. Rooftop jaccuzzi!
Review 38:Relatively minor dislikes. Room was small (we had one in the historic older building). Husband complained that the toilet seat would not stay up.
Review 39:We liked being near the water and walks. Even off season, there were enough eating establishments nearby that we didn't have to drive to go to dinner our first night.
Review 40:We stayed in the main building and our room was very small. I would have been disappointed if the length of our stay was longer than 1 night. Room was very clean and nicely decorated. Lots of light/windows with view of the ocean.
Review 41:Staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was nicely decorated and very clean.
Review 42:The view of the roof from my window. No queen bed as I was told. Two double. No kithchen, just a small fridge and micorowave. Room was mush smaller than advertised.
Review 43:Clean room, comfortable
Review 44:Bar was somewhat lacking during the weeknights. If the parking lot is crowded, you have to park in the far lot, which in December is a very long walk.
Review 45:Loved the location, right across the beach. Went in December and there was still a fair amount of things to do and people there. Staff was friendly, room was clean. Food was actually pretty good in the dining room. Full Direct TV with HBO channels was really great.
Review 46:We had to wait over in hour to check in because our room was not ready. The front desk did offer another room on a lower floor but when we went to see it, it was right next to some kind of mechanical room that was extremely loud so we chose to wait for our original assigned room. The lobby looked dated, old rugs and design. It did have a musty kind of smell that just added to the unattractive lobby. There was a pretty X-Mas tree still up so that did help as it was the only pretty thing to look at. The room was pretty small and had very thin walls and wood doors so you could hear whenever someone was out in the hall or in the room next to you and even when someone was flushing the toilet.
Review 47:The location was great. We could always find a parking spot. We were just a mile or so from Newport Center. The beds were pretty comfortable and although the historical part of hotel is obviously dated, it was clean. Our room was clean and smelled clean.
Review 48:Ocean is beautiful off-season. Cozy inside no matter what the weather, historic inn built for privacy, many rooms in nooks & crannies for optimum views. Plenty of wonderful eateries within walking distance; downtown Newport minutes away.
Review 49:The only thing I would make other travelers aware of that it is about 1 or 2 miles away from Newport village.
Review 50:Front desk super helpful. The 2 bedroom suite was spacious. My husband and I traveling with 3 teens found this to be a great accommodation.
Review 51:There wasn't anything I didn't like.
Review 52:The hotel was clean, smelled fresh, beds were comfy. I ate dinner in the restaurant which was excellent and I had an ocean view for a great price!
Review 53:we were in the original building which put the parking for us across the street. No fun in windy rain unloading. BUT the view, the view, the view
Review 54:spacious, excellent heating, huge closet, quiet, quick response to problem with TV, fresh chilled lemon or orange water in lobby
Review 55:Check in time of 4pm was too late for us Restaurant / breakfast disappointing Overall poor value for money Limited parking space
Review 56:Wonderful location if you like beaches (and why wouldn't you)
Review 57:The only thing I would fault is the Breakfast in the restaurant is not great and pricey enough and also the kitchen area of room could be better. Maybe a better coffee machine?
Review 58:We really liked the location (just a mile from Newport town). The view of the Ocean is beautiful. The rooms were really clean and the maids did a wonderful job cleaning every day. Really nice shampoos, shower gels and soaps. Good value for money and helpful staff. Would def stay there again! Can't wait to go back to Newport next year! So much to see and do!
Review 59:Could have done with a bit more counter space in the kitchen. Given quality of everything else were surprised that tumblers and "wine glasses" were plastic.
Review 60:Lovely location, could see and hear the sea from our beds. A large, very ckean and well equipped apartment. Very comfortable beds with good quality linen and fluffy white towels. Large shower in one bathroom, jacuzzi bath in other.Good to have washing and drying facilities in the room. Wonderful rooftop hot tub with stunning views.
Review 61:We purchased the room on line through Bookings.com. The first room they tried to stick us in was the size of a closet and overlooked the roof and AC unit. For $20 more and some complaining we got an ocean front room.
Review 62:The location was great for easy access to Newport, the Cliff Walk and the Mansion tours. The roof top spa and fire pit overlook the back bay and were a great way to end the day.
Review 63:At the time of check out I was overcharged $100.00. I was promised within a day it would be straightened out. As I check my charge card they still have not given back the over charge they took. Now I need to fight this when it should of been taken care of when I left. Leaves a very bad impression. How often does this happen and people don't notice?
Review 64:The place was very cean. Staff was very nice. Beautiful fireplace and whirlpool outside.
Review 65:From check in to leaving the service and facilities were impeccable. I was struggling to make an online booking for a coach to Cape Cod and the young man on reception was an absolute star. He helped me to complete the form and was very patient. I don't remember his name but it was on Tues 30th Sep.
Review 66:Felt dated and tired tiny window in room with fire escape in front of it which made it very claustrophobic. The bedding was very old and crumpled and in fact I had to iron it before i could sleep in it!!
Review 67:The tub was very difficult to climb into with the glass panel, hadnothing to grasp; also could not reach the faucets to adjust waterb/4 entering the shower.
Review 68:The kitchen was perfect, the bath accessible w/o going through thebedroom.thus making the use of liv.as another private bdrm.
Review 69:Hotel was in an excellent location. An easy walk to the cliff walk and right across from the beach. Breakfast was fast and good. The evenings were quiet in the hotel even though it was Labour Day weekend.
Review 70:Hotel brochure was not up to date -didn't have the beach related services promised. Shower curtain was growing some kind of pink yuck at the bottom. The beds were sunk in at one end.... Old mattress. The wifi was hit and miss. The traffic noise was enough to wake us up. The on site restaurant was poorly staffed.
Review 71:Location and staff were good. Good quality soaps and coffee. Our room had a super view of the ocean. Very spacious!
Review 72:room not as photo on booking high price for value provided stay away from breakfast wifi not working in our room nor in lodge, no solution provided
Review 73:good position near the sea fast checkin and checkout
Review 74:to small, bed sagging, bad wi fi connection, power strip in room kept going out. coffee popt was so high I couldn't see to pour the water in it.
Review 75:that it was close to the beach
Review 76:Their website was not as truthful re:walking distance into Newport. No chairs available for use/rent for beach
Review 77:The courtesy of the staff and the comfort of the bed
Review 78:We paid for a king size bed and got a queen in a room next to the elevator so there was extreme noise throughout the night. When we complained about the king bed we were told there was nothing they could do since we booked through booking.com except to offer us a suite in a different building for another $100! Their website advertises king beds in ALL ROOMS! I also thought I was in a newer building not a historic building that caused my asthma to flare up. We also thought we would have ocean view. We got street view! I also have an incorrect charge on my credit card that I have to get resolved instead of a credit!!
Review 79:Location was great. Pool and hot tub in the suite hotel was very. Ice for sunset views and clean,
Review 80:loud and banging and do not order pizza from napolis.. worst ever!
Review 81:very friendly staff and welcoming
Review 82:The free upgrade to a 2 bedroom suite. Loved the rooftop jacuzzi & fire pit & indoor pool & jacuzzi. Furnishings were 10 star.
Review 83:great place to have family join you
Review 84:Room was old-fashioned, noisy and very small. Avoid the historical building! The room was OVERPRICED.
Review 85:Location is convenient not far from Newport.
Review 86:Great view!
Review 87:Bathroom entirely to small. Small basin with a shelf above you couldn't even get your head down to spit out tooth wash.
Review 88:Bar & Resturant closed. Problems with electrical outlets.
Review 89:The staff seemed overwhelmed and very unwelcoming.
Review 90:Bed duvet had stains (pretty gross) ..... Nothing that a cleaning lady could do, except for a hotel to buy new ones.
Review 91:The room was really small and noisy.
Review 92:The swimming Pool and the terrace.
Review 93:Pillows
Review 94:Loved the roof top deck
Review 95:noisy road traffic
Review 96:location

Review 106:Wifi was a little weird
Review 107:Very attentive staff, right next to the water, in walking distance of a lot of things, great jacuzzi
Review 108:Great hot tub and roof deck. Location was great.
Review 109:Room way too small for the money
Review 110:I liked the friendliness of the staff and the hotels location
Review 111:Hands down the pool and roof top deck were the highlights of this hotel. We loved the charm of the hotel, very comfortable room with an amazing view
Review 112:Loved waking up to the ocean across the street. Beautiful fall morning.
Review 113:It states the location is on the beach....not so much
Review 114:The location wasn't to far from main attractions.
Review 115:It was a great location out of the way of the downtown tourists but still very convenient to downtown
Review 116:Close to beach, restaurants and mansions. Would definitely go back.
Review 117:The staff was so accommodating and friendly. The indoor pool an jacuzzi were great. I also had spa treatments which were amazing.
Review 118:Nothing
Review 119:The 2 bedroom suite on the top floor 402 was wonderful . Great view of beach!!
