Reviews for Village Hotel Changi by Far East Hospitality
Review 1:For a longer stay in Singapore we would stay closer to the city.
Review 2:Very friendly staff. We had a one night stopover between flights and hotel was perfect for this. Complimentary shuttle to and from airport is handy. We liked the fact the beach and hawker market were in short walking distance.
Review 3:There was a slight condensation problem happening at the wardrobe area and has drenched my cloths in the wardrobe as I hang it overnight.
Review 4:I had a room w an awesome sea view at the 7th floor w a glass balcony. My toddler love the view plus caught view of flying aircraft in the air and ships at the sea. Spacious and clean room and bath tub were a plus point w kids. Easy to find local delights within walking distance. The changi beach is right across and there is shuttle bus provided to airport. My family has enjoyed the stay vacation at changi and we feel the room w the glass balcony at level 7 was splendid .
Review 5:It would be even a better hotel if it has a halal kitchen. Will be great for breakfast and room service.
Review 6:This hotel is surrounded by many eating places. The room service was efficient. The front desk staff were friendly.
Review 7:Room was not very clean, toilet fixtures not exactly up to standard, a few loose pieces here and there. Bathrobe was not given hence had to ask from housekeeping. Pool was not very clean too though it has nice view.
Review 8:Location was good, near many eateries and changi beach.
Review 9:I requested for invoice of the total cost to my company, but they didn't provide one despite giving this option during my booking online.
Review 10:The room is spacious... And they gave me free parking there during my stay...perfect!
Review 11:Lack of customer care (hotel staff have not resolved our problem in appropriate way) Not the best value for money in comparison to other hotels in Singapore
Review 12:Good and clean hotel
Review 13:Too far away from shopping malls
Review 14:Spacious room, courteous and helpful staffs. Got a room with nice scenery facing the sea and free upgrade to deluxe room.
Review 15:the corners of the bathtub was a bit grimy and when i asked to get the room cleaned i could tell it wasnt done very well. the soiled rug in the toilet was not changed.
Review 16:the location was very convenient. i loved how it was near the beach. the view of the pool on the rooftop was amazing. the staff was very prompt in attending to me and they were very friendly!
Review 17:Lovely friendly, helpful and attentive staff. So clean and inviting. great location. Didn't expect shuttle bus to airport, this was arranged and booked for us with a smile. Room was very clean and perfect for our short but relaxing stay. Thank you
Review 18:Nothing
Review 19:Perfect for overnight stay as a $10 taxi fare to the airport if you don't want to take advantage of the courtesy bus. Plenty of dining options in the hotel as well as the hawker food markets 2min away. The gym is impressive as well as the two swimming pools. Excellent wine bar located in the foyer rooms are a really good size for Singapore.
Review 20:Cockroaches in the room! Toothbrush slippers and bathrobe was placed in room upon check in.
Review 21:The night swim where we could see the stars, the awesome gym facilities and prompt customer service.
Review 22:I've stayed here before. This time my room was not as well equipped, despite having booked the same grade of room. The bed was comfortable but appeared to be a fold down bed - and apart from other things, there was no light by the bed, bedside table, toothbrush, robe etc.
Review 23:Close to Changi Airport if you are just needing a one night stay.
Review 24:We had a toddler who was very uneasy since the time we entered the room. However, Zaff actually gave us a room that is beyond my expectation. His concern to the baby made me feel homely. I would totally give my full praises to Zaff for his kind hearted thoughts and generosity towards me and my family.
Review 25:I had marked this stay is specially for newly wed surprise Staycation,it's is without breakfast so I seek for one day breakfast since we booked 2 nites. The frontdesk replied NO becos I book thru booking.com instead directly. Dissapointed
Review 26:The range of breakfast foods was impressive, everything from European cold meats and cheeses, through sausage and egg, curries, salads, pastries... I really enjoyed my swim in the infinity pool. We also walked across the road to the beach park, and had a lovely wander around the many stalls in Changi village. The staff were very flexible, arranging us a late check-out, and shuttle bus back to the airport.
Review 27:- staff was a bit stiff. We asked for two single beds but got a double bed. I understand that this depends on availability but they should have emailed us. - AC is blasting cold air when you leave the room, so unless you leave one of your key cards in to keep the air con off you'll come to a freezing room every time. - the complimentary bike should be 2h because that's the optimal time to have a cycle around with a break for a refreshment
Review 28:- very comfortable bed - nice rain shower - free shuttle to the airport - great location if you want good hawker food and beach (but far from the city centre)
Review 29:When we arrived outside concierge told us to take our luggage to reception ourselves - big man liked being boss but did not like work. Slipped on wet steps at pool and hurt back but well attended to by Halinah Hassim
Review 30:Location and staff
Review 31:The internet kept dropping, and the maids hardly replaced toilet paper and would have been nice for our sheets to have been replaced with clean sheets after one week of stay in the hotel. We slept in the same sheets for the 10 days we stayed there.
Review 32:The village hotel is beautiful, my family and i enjoyed the comfort of the hotel.
Review 33:The rooms are not soundproof. At 3am the neighbours next door was very noisy, knock on my room door.
Review 34:Love the staff there. Very friendly and helpful. Love the bed. Very comfy.
Review 35:Located in Change Village next to the sea and beside Change Airport. Great cheaper alternative to transit and airport hotels for overnight stopovers if you have a long time between flights. Hotel is four star tourist, deluxe and club rooms are same rooms but club rooms come with executive lounge access and breakfast and night time drinks and snacks and two hours at airport transit lounges. Rooftop pool is great. Change Village is quiet, little traffic, has low rise residential three storey buildings with food courts and restaurants at local prices not city prices. Feels like Singapore before the high rise boom. Several shops for basic needs. Free shuttle bus to airport every 90 minutes and into town and back once a day.
Review 36:No selection of teas at breakfast and to be charged extra if I wanted one :(
Review 37:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Beds were very comfortable. Room lovely and clean.
Review 38:Good location for a stopover in Singapore, only 15 mins from the airport in a village location close to beach, coastal boardwalk and plenty of resturants
Review 39:Firstly, the room was still not ready even though we checked in late at 3plus pm. We had to wait for 30-45mins for them to do the housekeeping. Secondly, I made early booking for a King bedded room but was told by the staff that it was subjected to availability. I even called 2 weeks before to check if my booking was confirmed. Lastly, the staff was rude and not helpful at all.
Review 40:Seaview.
Review 41:The shower head in our room is fixed to the wall! I'm 5'11 so it made it impossible for me to shower standing straight as it's far too low on the wall! If you are anything over about 5'8 it's very uncomfortable and eventually I ended up showering sitting down which isn't ideal!
Review 42:Pool on the rooftop has an amazing view! Staff were very helpful and friendly and there's a free airport shuttle! Taxi to Universal studios was under $20 for 2 people from the hotel! Walking distance to the beach. . .although it's about a 20 minute walk! We were abe to get a body massage at 10.30 at night which was great! Huge choice at the buffet breakfast!
Review 43:Bathe tube is abit small.
Review 44:Executive lounge is a special touch for us. We were able to get drinks through out the day. Lots of good hawker food within walking distance.
Review 45:Pillows were too soft, the floor under the bed was very dusty, access card could not work in some lifts, very frustrating. Kettle capacity was too small, only 0.8L. Refrigerator was not cold.
Review 46:Seaview, good location, free shuttle bus to airport.
Review 47:Need to do maintaining upgrading work . My gf step onto a rusty earring in pool and got cut by it . Hotel did offer for medical bills and cab fair . Phone was dropped into the pool due to the accident .cant claim from them !
Review 48:Average .buffet so so only.
Review 49:I travel from newzealand but couldnt fit my charger so if room would have a universal charger so that people from every country can charge their electronic items.... but i would say what a comfortable room and a shower :)
Review 50:Everything :)
Review 51:Upon check in , no toiletries & slippers but was given when requested. No water dispenser beside toilet bowl, it was inconvenient for us.
Review 52:Customer service was good! Location is abit far but lots of halal food!
Review 53:1.The car park lightings are probably on energy saving mode , so it is very "spooky" to us when it flickers on and off alot. also some of the turns signage could be much clearer as we saw many cars taking wrong turns.( including ourselves :p)
Review 54:Friendly staff. Extra Bed was comfortable Complimentary Car Park Coupon ( very Good, No Hassle!)
Review 55:Some more vegetarian options would be appreciated. Breakfast buffet staff a little grumpy otherwise the staff response and professionalism was excellent
Review 56:Nice staff. Very good for connection to airport. Reasonable for getting to CBD. Everything nowadays deepens on the traffic in Singapore. Knowledgeable staff about transportation. Attentive front reception.
Review 57:Car park charges too high, should consider better rate for hotel live in guests! Not too many f&b outlets.
Review 58:Room size is good. And room service was prompt.
Review 59:Bit far to travel to CBD, and one citrons was 14SG
Review 60:1st room had toilet issue and friendly staff upgraded us to a new room. Next to Changi village so a good spot to chill on stopover and sample real Singapore. Nice roof top pool to relax in.
Review 61:Only drawback to the hotel is the 90 minute frequency of the shuttle bus . And if you want to visit tge city it is a little way out .
Review 62:Set in an excellent location with lots of places to eat close by and a lovely walk by the water . In a more authentic singapore location than the sterile modern Singapore .
Review 63:We asked for 2 breakfasts to take away for the following day. They forgot one of them. The one they gave us was very average. Water from swimming pool not so clean
Review 64:15min away from airport, good place to spend a night for transiting. Clean and comfortable rooms. Free shuttle to airport - but only every 1h30
Review 65:No shutter bus to Tampines shops.
Review 66:Helpful & friendly staff in reception. Executive lounges in hotel & airport are excellent addition to our stay. Airport transfer is very convenient.
Review 67:In breakfast time too many staff around like body guard but actually looking for empty plate. Makes not so comfortable to eat in relax.
Review 68:Check in and check out fast. Near restaurants.
Review 69:Easy access to/from Changi Airport for overnight connection needs. There is occasional shuttle service but only at 90 minute interval and not available for late night arrivals. It's a good value in a quiet neighborhood location.
Review 70:Our stay was only for one night but I can say that the hotel has everything you need even if someone wants to stay longer. It has a nice pool, a great breakfast and a very nice location. Next time probably I will stay longer. And must be mentioned that is a free of charge bus from and to the airport.
Review 71:Room was cold even with A/C off. Noise could be heard from adjoining rooms, upstairs room and food service area at all times (a giant echo chamber like a shopping mall). Rooms not carpeted, no noise suppression on floor or ceiling. Clothes closet was small and inconvenient;too many things crowded and hitting each other. Why are hangers placed facing the door? Pool has no privacy. In full view of food service area. Some of the guests yapped like dogs in the elevator. Uncouth. Ants on desk and bed-stand. Children allowed to run around in entrance area making noise. Not controlled. Food was too expensive so I ate elsewhere.
Review 72:The neighborhood, good food shops nearby, good 7-11, soft bed, good taxis, shuttle, plenty of elevators, clean bed and linen (no bed-bugs/fleas), no cockroaches seen at any time, security was good, staff spoke English and responded quickly, other guests were generally clean, did not detect cigarette smoke in hotel at any time, complimentary water, did not sweat while in room, hot water plentiful in bath, taxi-attendants were excellent, room was cleaned well.
Review 73:We paid 350+sgd for a club room 1 night. There was no cold water for the bath and it leaked (so first boiling then no water) The shower curtain stank and was 10cm to short so flood. Paint peeling of on the ceiling it was to late to call maintenance, so it was miserable. How hard can it be to fix these problems?
Review 74:Superb breakfast, 2 Pools, interesting design.
Review 75:The "away from the hustle & bustle of city life" environment is a plus pointers. Really enjoyed the serenity & stress free life that the hotel & the environment has to offer.
Review 76:the bath tub is a bit small for me. and there wasn't a lot of channels for me to watch especially soccer.
Review 77:clean room, sea view. room is spacious. staffs are friendly and helpful.
Review 78:Love the location, if you don't need to be in central Singapore this place is great - a big park nearby and by the sea, good local eating and it feels like small village, not a big city!
Review 79:The room rate is a bit on the high side considering the facilities isn't that fantastic. Jacuzzi pool is not working well.
Review 80:The counter staff is friendly and allow us to check out late without questions ask. The room is comfortable and the wifi is decent speed. The location is near Changi Village, hawker centre, Changi Beach, Changi Broadway and Pulau Ubin. We like it quiet.
Review 81:We had lost some luggage at the airport or in the taxi and they did everything they could to phone around for us and help us. The complimentary afternoon drinks were very welcome. Really lovely place if you don't need to be near downtown. Ideal for people having a night stopover between international flights.
Review 82:The room was slightly tired, with stains on the bathtub and wall, and when we didn't close the balcony door for long, some small bugs entered the room as they were attracted to the light, but this isn't the management's fault.
Review 83:There were amazing staff who gave us a free upgrade, breakfast and cake for my friend's birthday! It was also at a wonderful, convenient location with tons of amenities such as shops, eateries, a park and beach accessible via a short walk. Really enjoyed my stay.
Review 84:One female staff member extremely rude to us in the bar area while we waited for the shuttle, but other than her, all were fantastic.
Review 85:Good out of the way location which worked well for us (young couple with toddler), great facilities and breakfast good selection, all staff except one, were extremely friendly and helpful. Would stay again!
Review 86:Bell boy did not send our luggage to our room as we were relocated to the adjacent Civil Service Club. As we are still considered the guest of Village Hotel, this comes to us as a surprise.
Review 87:Professional front desk staffs that compensated and upgraded us due to faulty electrical systems in the room we booked. Customer service is undoubtedly excellent.
Review 88:A little expensive, but I guess that's Singapore. On arrival at airport told hotel courtesy bus would not be available for another 90 minutes.
Review 89:Roof top pool, access to club, friendly helpful staff. Would consider staying here again. Close to Changi airport, local cafes.
Review 90:Room is very unpersonal: there is not even one painting on the walls nor a coulourful decoration to flourish things a bit: white\creamy coulours and nothing else.
Review 91:Perfect to spend a night or two before catching your next flight. Location offers enough eateries and beach blvd is nearby.
Review 92:The staff and the manager are very rude... The manager is completely has no respect... She is the manager and her manner is like a animal.. She a malay women... It really spoil my day there..
Review 93:The room..
Review 94:A slight problem with the hand basin - very quickly resolved - which was really appreciated
Review 95:great service excellent staff room - excellent value and an amazing view Lounge Access and use added to the experience
Review 96:Room not totally sound proof. No rinsing hose near toilet bowl for washing after... ...
Review 97:Free parking for guest. Away from city life, quite & peaceful. Near to the beach. Near to a lot of eateries.
Review 98:The food was poor, well below the usual standard for this type of hotel. The breakfast dishes were tasteless, irrespective of the cuisine (Asian, Western). The raw fish (sashimi, sushi) in the Japanese restaurant was the toughest I have ever experienced. I sent these comments privately to the hotel management and wasn't intending to comment publically, but having had no response, I thought I should warn others. The hotel is fine if you don't eat there!
Review 99:Reasonably convenient for the airport, although shuttle buses are infrequent (every 90 minutes). Staff were helpful and efficient. Room was very clean and well kept.
Review 100:I really wish i could swim there, but once i saw the pool i dont think to swim there, cause the pool is bit dirty and not as wide as i saw on pics in this site. They sud take care of it, cause it actually nice, swimming at the highest floor of hotel and u can see things from up.
Review 101:The staff were nice, i requested room at the highest floor and they gave it to us.
Review 102:At the end of the day it is nice to sit down and relax and catch up on the world news but for most of our stay the main news channel CNN did not work. No mini bar.
Review 103:Close to local food and shopping
Review 104:All good
Review 105:The prompt shuttle from airport to hotel. Prompt check in. Comfortable room. At early check out, the bell hops were very friendly and helpful .
Review 106:Changi Village Hotel is old and needs refurbishment
Review 107:Changi Village is a delightful part of Singapore and Changi Village Hotel a very nice place to stay
Review 108:The server at salt cafe clears off my cutlery while I went to replenish my bf.. Maybe have a sign on dinning table IN /OUT..etc
Review 109:The bed is very comfortable. Like the location too...within reach to hawker centre, changi beach & ubin.
Review 110:I booked for my anniversary and had indicated to make it special for us but nothing was done and it was a disappointment. The only thing was that the staff wished us dats all, very sad for us. may not stay there again.
Review 111:close to eating outlets and amenities
Review 112:Room service is super slow No tooth brush in room Request for tooth brush , extra pillows etc took them 1 hour to deliver and this is after a few repeat calls
Review 113:Near to food stalls
Review 114:Nil
Review 115:Staff were professional very helpful Room was spotless a d breakfast had huge selection to choose from including freshly cooked order and vegan I was even given a mask on departure from hotel because of the haze Highly recommend good value for money
Review 116:Cleanliness was an issue here as well as at their other property. Long black hair in the bathroom (mine are short and blond), black fungus growing on the bathmat. Saw the kitchen staff using the toilet at the pool and not washing hands afterwards. Room floor was sticky. Infinity pool very nice, but glass wall very dirty.
Review 117:A nice and quiet location outside the city and very near to the airport. Great pools and really friendly staff (got a very nice room upgrade as I had just stayed 10 days in another of their properties).
Review 118:The service at all levels was impeccable. The staff are truly excellent. I felt at home. The check out time was extended twice. I will always come back or stay with Far East group at one of their hotels. Break fast was superb.
Review 119:The flights landing nuisance has been severely affecting my sleep till 2-3am! Terrible! The bed sheet is not that clean and shows signs of aging. Smell of smoking is lingering though it is a non-smoking room. We've been waiting for the shuttle for over 1 hour as it runs once every 1.5hours. Plus the time is 0.5hr to the hotel. Check-in was not fast that gave rise to the long queue.
Review 120:The room served its purpose for a place to sleep between flights however our room (349) was located a good distance from the lift and room seemed a little dated. Total block out curtains would be ideal
Review 121:Buffet dinner Airport shuttle Front desk staff
Review 122:Breakfast was expensive unless included in the booking
Review 123:Had a late plane so was able to lay by the pool and then have a shower without having to pay for an extra room
Review 124:The shower was cold which was pretty awful after A late flight.
Review 125:It was a really nice hotel with great facilities. Unfortunately I got there too late and didn't get chance to Experience the gym and pool but my brother did and he said it was great!
Review 126:Breakfasts are poor. Overpriced and underwhelming.
Review 127:The roof top pool. Bliss after the heat of the day. The view from the 7th floor overlooking the sea. The close proximity to the Hawker Stalls and the Ferry and bus Terminals.
Review 128:Just a minor thing. I had been looking forward to swimming in the larger of the two pools, but it was closed during my one-night stay. I understand the reason for closing it, though, and I did swim in the other pool just off the restaurant.
Review 129:The relative proximity to the aiport. Background: We arrived late in the evening and flew out again the following morning. We appreciated the overall friendliness and helpfulness and efficiency of the staff. And we got an upgrade to a room that was value for money.
Review 130:A long way from city centre. Would probably use a hotel near Orchard Rd next time to be closer to sights, shops and restaurants.
Review 131:Free shuttle to and from airport. Convenient for short stopover. We paid for an upgrade to 6th floor room so had use of special lounge area with food, drinks etc. Also gave us 2 hours in a Changi airport lounge so we could have a relaxing time with breakfast before our flight.
Review 132:There was not anything to dislike.
Review 133:We had what must be one of the best rooms in the hotel. A massive corner room and the biggest toilet room that I have ever seen. Bed very comfortable and the duvet was the correct thickness!
Review 134:The staff at the cafe very snobbish and rude. There was a lack of cutlery on our table, when asked for it, the staff was rude and handed over 1 more set emotionless. To me, simply rude.
Review 135:The reception team was wonderful. They are very polite and professional. Felt very welcome from the first instance.
Review 136:In Singapore they tend believe that a room with a window must be a four star standard. Unfortunately that is not the case. Rooms are ugly and old - same as corridors. Personel is gentle but not very helpful. Airport shuttle service is really bad since it goes only every 90 minutes. That means a very long wait in the night if you just missed it (we had to take a taxi). Overall it was not even a 3 star hotel. Extremely dissapointing.
