Reviews for Bellamar Hostel
Review 1:Did not get to sleep in the room because there was someone there that smelled really bad and the hostel refused to remove him. Three of us left the room and slept in the dining room. Hostel host helped us move mattress in dinning area.
Review 2:Location and room was nice.
Review 3:Double bed a bit too small for 2 people, poor wifi connection in the room. No quiet hours or at least guests are not following it- some people had late dinner and it was really noisy
Review 4:Lovely and cozy hostel, stayed in private room with double bed + bath. Excellent breakfast, laundry options. Staff speaks excellent English
Review 5:Our room had the unpleasant view of the roof and windows of the houses next door (and when I say next door I mean you could put your hand outside the window and touch the roof) and didn't have any kind of blackout curtains, which doesn't leave any room for any kind of privacy. Besides the room was small and claustrophobic, which appears to be a standout feature of this hostel as we also found that the breakfast room had no windows and no natural light. Having not slept very well due to an annoying squeaky bed, we wake up to find a poorly decorated breakfast room with furniture directly rescued from a flea market (and not the cool, vintage type) and a badly presented choice of breakfast food. The worst of all, I would say, is THERE WASN'T ANY COFFEE. When I asked the girl from the hostel about it, I was informed that there was coffee in the vending machine that was standing in the corner of the room next to a rounded bar (which I suspect is never used). C'mon people. Coffee is a basic human right (especially for 40€/room). Here's my tip: please put aside about 500€ and make a trip to IKEA, which isn't very far away. You'll be amazed at the amount of inexpensive things you can buy and that will give some life to your outdated hostel.
Review 6:Location is excellent.
Review 7:Breakfast is very basic, very carbohydrate-intensive, as most hostel-breakfasts are, so not really a big surprise.
Review 8:Staff of two sisters was very friendly and helpful. Location is perfect. Close to all the good restaurants. 5min walk to O Porto metro and a 10-min promenade along the river to the beach (which is a plus as the city centre is lore convenient and interesting to live near). The hostel was quite new during my visit and I noticed they were improving decor during my stay.
Review 9:Bed could be a bit more comfy
