Reviews for Pensiune Citadela Sighisoara
Review 1:The lack of easy to access parking slots is a minus but you must expect this if you book a room in the old town.
Review 2:It is located in the best possible location for sightseeing, the staff is very kind and the breakfast is unexpectedly tasty.
Review 3:If you do not like antique furniture (not sure why anyone wouldn't, but it's possible),or have trouble climbing steep stairs, you might want to reconsider the location.
Review 4:We loved the location. If you are visiting Sighisoara, staying at this place is ideal. We will definitely stay here next time we are visiting. Staff is very helpful, breakfast is freshly made and the parking space, even though in a small/restricted area, is free and right in front of the residence.
Review 5:Very small room. The walls was very thin. Stairs was very steep, the signal from Wi-Fi wasn't strong at 1st floor.
Review 6:View of our balcony. In the heart of the old city. Very helpful stuff.
Review 7:The directions for driving include (correctly) driving the wrong-way up a one-way street. We drove past the same street 3 times trying to figure this out. Good bedside reading lamps are sorely needed. The shower head sprays the whole bathroom-perhaps the curtain rod could be raised up higher! A flat screen TV would be a better choice in such a tiny (husband-head-bumping) room.
Review 8:Fantastic location.
Review 9:climbing the stairs may be difficult for some
Review 10:adorable little "walk up" in an old building, little doll house room that slept 3 comfortably.
Review 11:Hand held shower head.
Review 12:Perfect part of the town to stay at. Friendly staff with excellent room with a view. Super clean & comfortable. Close to everything.
Review 13:The hotel is really beautiful, rooms were nicely furnished and very comfortable. Staff were friendly and very helpful. A great location near the bell tower.
Review 14:Wi-fi didn't work in the room upstairs so you had to stay in downstairs reception. Breakfast was only till 9:00 am.
Review 15:Good location. Great views of the town (if you get a top-floor room).
Review 16:It is almost impossible to take a shower without make a mess in the bathroom and let all the floor completely wet. They should think about replace the shower curtains for bath tub doors. Around 1am, someone knocked at the hotel's door for 30 min or so (each knock was stronger than the previous one) until someone (I guess it was one of the other guests) opened it.
Review 17:It is right next to the old town (like 50m). The bed is really comfortable and the room is cozy.
Review 18:Central location in the old town of Sighisoara. Close to sights and restaurants. There are a couple of parking places on the street in front of the hotel, otherwise there is public parking available in town. Rooms are a bit older, more or less clean. We enjoyed to stay at this hotel/pension.
Review 19:The breakfast was included but the owner said we have to pay. However I didn't know we had included breakfast so maybe if I showed her the booking she would have given us the breakfast.
Review 20:Very close to centre. The furniture and bathroom are really nice.
Review 21:The stairs to the room are very steep and narrow. Was ok for me but might be a problem for some people.
Review 22:The owner. A very nice and friendly woman. Location, very close to the attractions. The charming rooms, nicely furnished, sloping roofs, very atmospheric....
Review 23:Bathroom very dim lighting. Breakfast option was sandwich or omelette with a cup of coffee or tea.
Review 24:Small balcony with view of clock tower was unexpected! (Room 2). Nice checkinwith friendly staff. Great location. Quiet streets around hotel.
Review 25:Cramped bathroom and limited breakfast options. Very steep stairs leading to accommodation.
Review 26:Fantastic location below the clock tower. Friendly, helpful staff.
Review 27:Wish there was a little more space in the shower, but that's pretty much an issue all over Europe in historic inns and pensions.
Review 28:Excellent location, very friendly and helpful folks running the place. (Georges and Dorina) So very close to everything.
Review 29:I kindly asked to be prepared by the hotel staff at the arrival the invoice for my company and was not prepared and they even did not know anything about my special request. I had to leave at 07:30 AM and they did not help me with the breakfast because the lady that had this job was available after 09:00 AM. The breakfast was for free at the location but not at the time of my departure. What can I say?
Review 30:Location!
Review 31:The wifi was intermittent. The steep stairs make it unwise for elderly guests
Review 32:This place has charm and location in spades. The rooms have great views. It's an old building but that's in its favour to us. It's very central but not on top of tourists bustle.
Review 33:Stairs were very steep might not suit some people. No AC but could leave the window open at night.
Review 34:A great nicely restored old building. Very clean room, nice bathroom. Excellent location and very friendly staff. Would definitely recommend I wish I had stayed here longer.
Review 35:We had to leave the next day.
Review 36:Very nice location, the building is old with a romantic touch and well maintained; the personnel was very friendly. The breakfast was delicious.
Review 37:bed wasn't straight so you rolled out of bed
Review 38:Beautiful room, great view, in the center, you can park in front of the door (follow the narrow cobble stone street, not suitable for big cars).
Review 39:Had a dreamy room with an amazing view of the city and the clock tower, bathtub and the most comfy bed! Plus, you cant beat the location! Go for room No8, the attic room :)
Review 40:The pansion is located next to the historical center of the town - Citadelia. Rooms are very cosy and clean. They are furnished in the Middleage style, so we imagined ourselves heroes of the historical novel. And breathtaking view out of the window.
Review 41:The mattress was terribly uncomfortable. While I only eat a small breakfast, the toast and canned marmalade were nothing to write home about. The sloping bathroom roof on which one's head was in danger of bumping and the necessity to hold the toilet seat up or else sit were annoying. One should negotiate the steep stairs to the room with extreme care as well as the steep cobblestoned street. The front door key jammed each time I used it. Other guests complained about that problem. There is no staff member available at night to open it. After several minutes I got it to open the door. I've learned a lesson. I'll spend a bit more to lodge elsewhere if ever in charming Sighisoara again.
Review 42:The pension was very clean and quiet. It was close to all that Sighisoara has to see and to quality restaurants as are most properties there.
Review 43:On my confirmation breakfast was included but I was told that it is not. I showed them my booking confirmation, where it says that breakfast is included but could not persuade them anyway.
Review 44:Excellent location in the old town close to the clock tower. I got a room with a balcony and had a nice view of the Clock Tower and the city. Parking next to the building. Good value for money.
Review 45:We arrived late at night by train and we struggled to find this place. It's not a very pleasant walk at that time of night but it was wonderful to wake up with a view of the clock tower from our window! Breakfast was good too.
Review 46:The parking may be a problem since it is a very narrow and steep street but at the end we quite easily found a place.
Review 47:The lady working there is very nice and helpful. The price was a great deal (28 EUR!) and as you exit the door you are in the old town! Goof simple and tasty breakfast included.
Review 48:Shower with hand held only (hard to wash your hair with one hand!) Wifi signal poor in the room 'Free' Breakfast had limited choices
Review 49:The view from my room 'top floor' was great. The room was clean, spacious and basic amenities provided. AC was noisy but a blessing as the room was very warm.
Review 50:It's a little trick to open the front door.
Review 51:The location of this hotel is great. It's just near the entrance to the old city. The staff is very friendly and nice. The rooms are quite small, but it's a very old house. And it's nothing to do with it.
Review 52:These are quibbles, because we really liked this B&B a lot, but breakfast choices were limited and we were never able to get a wi-fi connection.
Review 53:The location of this B&B is excellent - just outside the citadel gate. We had a fabulous view of the clock tower from our room, which was clean, comfortable and full of character. The staff were very kind.
Review 54:Rooms were small for 3 adults & shallow angular ceilings made it difficult to maneuver at night without hitting your head. Bed linen were tired.
Review 55:Rustic atmosphere with traditional charm. Bathroom was roomy with nice thick towels.
Review 56:Everything was really perfect!
Review 57:It was a truly great experience! Sighisoara itself is really special but our room with a view on the old Tower and roofs of the city made our stay soo romantic! We also are really grateful to the stuff - first we arrived late at night and had to disturb them to check-in - and they were really friendly and the next day we asked for late check out and experienced such a considerate treatment from the staff, that completely fell in love with Pensiune Citadela. Thank you so much!
Review 58:No wifi, no parking close by so we had to carry our luggage for several streets that go upwards, you have to pay your hotel bill upfront (something that you should think twice about doing this here), unfriendly hostess who cannot help you, not a very spacious room and bathroom due to the slanted rooftop
Review 59:Hotel in the middle of the old town centre, good location to make daytrips to Viscrii and Saschiz, nice pizzaplace on the town square
Review 60:Nothing.
Review 61:Everything was great: hostess, location, cleanliness...The edifice itself has its own charm: interior of the rooms and entrance hall is quite interesting and it goes well with the atmosphere of the old town.
Review 62:The room was overdecorated for the size (way too many pillows). The sheets were stained and the shower was too small for the shower curtain, which draped on the floor of the already tiny shower stall and block the drain.
Review 63:This hotel is centrally located, just in the heart of the sites of Sighisoara. Our room was quite small but with a balcony with an outstanding view. They let us check in a little early which was really helpful. A large grocery store is about 5 - 10 minutes away. Around 20 minutes walk from the train station. Free WiFi.
Review 64:The sloping ceiling in the bathroom was not very convenient (because the room was in the attic), but it's not a big problem.
Review 65:A cozy little hotel right near the gate to the old city. Clean, comfortable, friendly staff. The rooms in the attic offers a good view.
Review 66:Could be improved with addition of bedside light - It was hard to read in bed. Also, better to provide milk in a jug at breakfast rather than tiny sachets. Othervise, perfect.
Review 67:Excellent location. Excellent advice on where to eat (AltePost, not in the Old Town!) Good breakfast.
Review 68:i can not use wifi, there was wifi but it didn't connect internet. front door's key didn't work easily. room key was no problem.
Review 69:staff, mood, location attic room are very lovely.
Review 70:We loved our stay here! The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and spoke good english. The room was lovely and we had a fantastic view over the city from the balcony (room 2). We requested this room specifically for the view and they were more than accommodating with this request! The location is fantastic, right near the clock tower, just a stones throw away from the old town. We would highly recommend it!
Review 71:Not the most comfortable bed - rather soft with bedding that refused to stay in place.
Review 72:A lovely authentic pensiune just steps away from the clock tower and central square. Stunning views. Also very friendly management and great value for money.
Review 73:The walls are quite thin, which wouldn't be a problem with considerate neighbours. However, my neighbours spoke at the top of their voices, which was a little frustrating. So, just a friendly reminder to be considerate of the people in the next room.
Review 74:The hotel was in a perfect position to explore the city. Unbelievably close to the Clock Tower. The staff were very helpful. Room was beautifully decorated and very warm and cosy. Breakfast was all you needed. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 75:All was very pleasant, the breakfast choice rather not my cup of tea (club sandwiches, fried omelette). Maybe some milk, cereals, butter and jams could be added in the future.
Review 76:The location, right at the footsteps of the famous clock tower, beautiful room views from the attic rooms - just like sleeping under the stars at night, also very friendly staff
Review 77:It is difficult to pinpoint, but there was a very strange vibe when we arrived. The woman who met us (who wasn't the owner) was a bit agressive and stighly unhelpful when we asked about breakfast.
Review 78:The room was as we expected and access to the main citadel was excelent. Being able to park out tye front was very useful.
Review 79:Doors where a little bit thin.
Review 80:The room was clean and full of personality. It was furnished with antique furniture and everything looked just right. The breakfast was amazing!
Review 81:The room for 3 guests is small, but sooooo cozy that we loved it more than big rooms in other Guesthouses. Staff - very friendly and very helpful!
Review 82:Nothing
Review 83:Excellent location, near to all attraction. Nice staff, no problem that we arrived at mid night. Good beakfast(eggs-omlete or sandwich, coffee, tea), excellent bed. Very good for the money.
Review 84:The owner was very nice, while driving on our arrival we took a wrong turn so she offered to come and guide us through the city. The location is great.
Review 85:We spent two nights at Citadela, this was our first time in Sighisoara and we were two couples travelling. This place is ideally located in the medieval town centre, our room had a view of the tower which was just lovely. Our host Daciana was most welcoming, phoning us on the day and making sure we found the place ok and were happy with everything. She also recommended some great places for us to visit/ear in. A warm, comfortable & charming place, close to the key places in town - would definitely stay there again if/when we go back. Sighisoara is a must see!
Review 86:Excellent view from dormer window over Sighisoara. 100meter from town square. Good Wi-Fi connection. Friendly and helpful staff. Superb location for walking into the city. Definately recommended.
Review 87:The bed was a bit uncomfortable.
Review 88:Excellent location, the main touristic attractions were within walking distance (1-2 minutes); the staff was very helpful and nice; the room was clean and the water pressure was great. We really enjoyed the way the room was decorated and had an excellent stay there! We highly recommend it.
Review 89:Having arrived in the evening when it was dark and then calling the accomodation to ask directions when we knew we were close it was no problem for the duty receptionist to come find us a few streets away and then guide us into our chosen accomodation. This lady was called Daciana, she was very friendly, charming, welcoming (spoke very good english), informative in us arriving at this very charming and value for money bed and breakfast. Its location was fist class looking onto and very close to the main tower entrance to this ancient city as well as some excellent resturant/pubs. We would recommend this accomodation to anyone thinking of visiting Sighisoara.
Review 90:The house and the room were exactly as I imagined them when checking on the site - if you are looking for a location with a vintage touch, with transylvanian traditional details then you are in the right place. I loved the atmosphere which was on the same note as the old town, the ladies that attended were very friendly, natural and helpful. The room also offered us a gorgeous view over the town and the Tower on the left. We simply loved staying there and we will definitely come back.
Review 91:We arrived in the evening and spent two nights but the room was not cleaned the following day and the shower curtain was not effective or hung properly so the bathroom effectively became a wet room !! However bad shower curtains did appear to be a romanian trait.
Review 92:The location and price were fab. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were excellent, friendly and informative. They replied promply to emails and arranged a taxi to Biertan. They offered a free breakfast as I was occupying a double room as a single person which was a nice touch and unexpected. I would happily stay there again
Review 93:Rooms were incredibly small and hotel was in an overall state of disrepair.
Review 94:Friendly staff, can't ask for a better location, balcony was wonderful.
Review 95:Reception barely spoke English and was a little impatient at times, however still a good overall experience despite this.
Review 96:Excellent location, right next to the clock tower. Rooms were clean and comfortable. We checked out early in the morning only to find out reception was not open (we were never informed of its opening hours). The owner provided amazing service and came to check us out as soon as we called and also gave us a lift to the train station as we were in a hurry. She also came with us to buy tickets which was helpful as the staff barely spoke English. Definitely recommend.
Review 97:The bathroom had no window and the only venting was through a ceiling fan. This was not such an inconvenient, I prefer natural light and I would have liked it more. But this is just a subjective feeling. The walls are quite thin and if you want more privacy you should consider that the next door guests might hear what you are doing.
Review 98:The place and decorations are very welcoming and homey. The rooms are for non smokers but the reception lounge allows you to gather a few friends and enjoy a morning coffee or a evening chit chat. The place is just near the Watch Tower and you can enjoy the long walks without returning to a crowded area in the evening. The personnel is quite nice and friendly, wonderful people to interact. Pubs and restaurants are at maximum 5 minutes walk, both in the citadel or towards the central park.
Review 99:Check out was at 11, 12 could be more convenient and it's more standard. The breakfast was a little early, between 7.30 and 9.
Review 100:The location is really the best, in the Old Town, a few steps from the Clock Tower. On a side street so it's not noisy at all. Picturesque rooms and a very nice and classic common area. The breakfast was ok.
Review 101:Whereas the fan supplied was adequate I would expect that it may not beadequate on an extremely warm night. The narrow steep stairs may be anissue for those with mobility issues. The exchange rate as calculated bythe hostess was not favourable and we paid in excess of the going rate.Booking.com should list the night rate in the local currency wherepayment has to be made in local currency
Review 102:Having stayed in another pension for a number of nights we had a changeof travelling plans and needed to stay an extra night. We booked thispension at short notice.....and what a find. Booking.com is a bitmisleading when it states that it is .6km from the centre. Yes, it isfrom the center of the town but it is right in the middle of the oldtown. Its location is fantastic, within a minute or two from the famousclock tower. It is located on a narrow street and it is possible to parkright outside the door. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. The pension was clean and comfortable and oozed character. The propertype of pension to stay in in such an old town There were severalchoices of breakfast and the omlettes we had were very nice and made toorder. This pension is highly recommended.
Review 103:did not receive any written invoice for my money
Review 104:friendly owner, clean and comfortable room, parking in front of the house, super location in the town center
Review 105:It is of course an old house, but the stairs are steep and there is no elevator. Not a problem for us, but keep this in mind when you book a room at Pensiune Citadela.
Review 106:Location is super! In the middle of the old city of Sighisoara. Everything within walking distance. Our room at the top floor, just under the roof, was nice and cozy. Bathroom fully equipped.
Review 107:This hostel was right in the centre of the old town and had beautiful traditional rooms with amazing views over the town. It was also extremely good value for money. We loved staying here.
Review 108:hard to take up the luggage up the stairs
Review 109:Location just by the citadel clock tower, nice interior, very helpful owner, tasty a la carte breakfast, comfortable bed, we had a balcony with a view on the tower :)
Review 110:Extremely steep staircase that leads to the first floor, where all the rooms are. Not recommended if you're travelling with kids, elderly or disabled people or heavy luggage. Not recommended if you're planning to come back drunk. The room were well furnished, but they had a distinct and unnecessary Romanian kitsch touch. The shower wasn't properly sealed and after two people showered you could swim in the bathroom.
Review 111:The location couldn't be better. A few steps away from the main square of the citadel, but far enough to avoid being bothered by the noisy tourists. Nice views from the rooms. We got two rooms: you could see the mountains from one of them and the Clock Tower from the other one. Clean rooms and bathrooms and comfortable bed.
Review 112:Room was in the attic which was extremely hot all the time. Because it is such an old building, I don't think they can install proper air con. They did provide a portable unit, but this sounded like a jet engine in the room. So the choice was cook or be kept awake by noise. Either way, the sun shines straight through the curtain-less window at 4.30 am so then you have no chance. Also, there was no wifi at all in the room, only in the hall or lounge area. It was a shame because the staff were nice and the building is very pretty.
Review 113:Lovely house, amazing location and view. Friendly staff.
Review 114:Great location and awesome view. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. It poured a couple of times while we were away and our host ran up a few flight of stairs to close sky light/window I left opened. Close to everything, in the old historical part and where the locals hang out. I liked the creaky stairs you need to climb up in order to get to the top floor. Myself and my grand daughter wouldn't complain about anything. It was great!
Review 115:Can't think at anything.
Review 116:The location was great, just next to the clock tower. It's a cool place to stay, the rooms are clean and have all you need to spend a relaxed weekend. The administrator is just as cool as the place she's running and made us feel like home.
Review 117:Really kind, lovely staff who made you feel really at home - not astuffy hotel experience at all. Beautiful rooms and vampire free. Makesure you work out how to use the air conditioning unit - we only managedon our last night (not the unit's fault, we are pretty stupid) andit made the whole thing even better.
Review 118:I arrived very late at the hostel, and the lady was waiting me. I was shown to my room above the garden. It is a nice room with my own bathroom. The lady is talkative. Since I left the next morning very early, she prepared the sandwiches for me as breakfast and reminded her staff to help me call taxi to the train station.
Review 119:Triple room – private bathroom – double + single bed – breakfast included – approx $63 cdn/night We had a bit of trouble finding this place (not their fault, we didn’t think to get good directions before we arrived) but it was worth it. The room is smallish by North American standards but more than comfortable for 3 people. The lobby area is really old-fashioned and the rooms have a rustic feel with exposed beams. The shower was bigger than the one in Vienna but not by much as was basically hand held and leaked all over the bathroom floor but was hot and had great water pressure. The breakfast each morning included a couple of options (club sandwiches, BLTs, omelettes, etc) with coffee or tea and orange juice. It wasn’t fancy but was filling and came with the room so no complaint from us. The staff (Tatiana was simultaneously cook, server, front-desk staff and cleaner) was friendly and very welcoming. The location was also excellent – just a stone’s throw from the main clock tower, a 2 minute walk from the citadel’s main square and a 2 minute walk from “town.” Our only complaint was the barking dogs in the properties nearby but that’s hardly the fault of the pension and we could have closed the windows if we’d needed to… We loved Sighisoara and loved this place. We’d definitely come back and would recommend it to any of our friends…
Review 120:We didn't realize till morning that WiFi worked best in the lobby, not able to connect in our room. Pack light due to stairs, but worth the climb.
Review 121:Looking out the window and seeing the castle tower so close it was like we were living a fairytale.
Review 122:-It is quite hard to find initially. -The portable air conditioning unit is not efficient enough - particularly in the top floor rooms which get very hot.
Review 123:The location is fabulous and we had parking right outside the main door. For breakfast (included in the price) you can get a fantastic omelette.
Review 124:The Pension offers parking, but it can be difficult to find. The internet was very poor and we were not able to use it at all.
Review 125:The pension is located just outside the walls, next to the clock tower. It has an easy access from town and is only minutes away from the main square of the citadel. The rooms are cozy and bathroom modern. Everything was very clean and had a feeling of home. The owner was very friendly and help us get to the pension and find parking.
Review 126:It's really very-very good! In the heart of the old city on a quite and cosy street in the old house. Very friendly and helpful staff. Everything necessary in the room. Everything new and clean. Nice design. It's really great choice! The views are marvelous!
Review 127:The mattress was lumpy and not very comfortable. The bathroom is small but it makes sense, given the older building that it is in. Still, it was all very clean.
Review 128:Wonderful location and very friendly staff. The rooms were clean, although nothing in them was very new.
Review 129:I liked everything honestly but a bit of a warning: being an old medieval house rooms are relatively small. They are large enough for normal needs but take care not to bring the whole house and 5 big trolleys if staying here :)
Review 130:The place is practically inside the medieval town. Total fairytale-like location beneath the clock tower. The rooms are also made such that they take you to the times of knights and kings of old. Children will LOVE this place!
Review 131:Location, facilities, room's view
