Reviews for Hotel Casa Wagner
Review 1:Available parking is far away, hotel do not provide valet parking while some other options do.
Review 2:Location is great for the Ciudadela. Good choice if traveling with kids
Review 3:The floor was not vacuumed and somewhat dirty but the rest of the room was clean enough. Breakfast was a little ho-hum. Dinner reasonable.
Review 4:Hotel is in a wonderful location next to the Old Town square. The room was beautiful with patterned ceiling and period furniture. Actually a 2-room suite though I was there alone. Incredibly spacious and light-filled.
Review 5:The breakfast was dismal, almost inedible. Dining room may be more atmospheric at night, but completely lacking in service and atmosphere in the morning.
Review 6:Location is good. Rooms at the back quite quiet, historical building with nice atmosphere, especially young and enthusiastic receptionist on arrival. Picturesque.
Review 7:Limited breakfast selection and fruit etc not in the best of condition. Room a little small (though adequate) for 3 people.
Review 8:Excellent location right in the middle of Sighisoira. Lovely historic building with a pleasant courtyard bar.
Review 9:sub-par wi-fi for price-range and class of hotel
Review 10:Supreme location overlooking the central square atop the hill, excellent and friendly staff, classic old hotel with shabby chic charm
Review 11:old old furniture .. The bed sheets were dirty .. The dust was every where .. You can have something outside the castle with better rate and service
Review 12:The location is in the castle center .. The staff made their best to make it better ..
Review 13:There was no wifi at all in the building (Casa Wagner is comprised of 3 separate buildings) which made it most inconvenient to book accomodation and transport for the next part of my journey. Hotel steps to the second floor are slippery and no bannister installed constitutes a safety risk. Also nowhere to unpack the suitcase except on the bed.
Review 14:My charming attic room had a wonderful view over the town and the spa bath was much appreciated after a long day sightseeing in the heat. Great breakfast and staff who went out of their way to be helpful.
Review 15:Overall, Romanian breakfasts are disappointing, particularly where bread, juices, fresh milk are concerned - but this seems to be true everywhere in Romania, and one should not come with Austro-Hungarian expectations. No parking near hotel.
Review 16:Truly good value for money. Staff made no problems when I found I had booked for too many nights.
Review 17:First of all, the room was on the top floor with no air conditioning and 40 C degrees outside, the furniture in the room was of poor quality, the tv was from the 80`s. The only decoration in the room was a photo-portrait of four disturbing looking old men (it was not in a spooky atmosphere related to the location, just something poorly done).
Review 18:The location.
Review 19:The room was just not clean: lots of dust in the room covering almost all horizontal surfaces (phone, head of the bed, wardrobe), which were out of reach for a lazy cleaning staff, some rubbish left on floor by previous guest. Worn-out linen heavily smelling laundry detergents, flat and very old pillows.
Review 20:Location, authentic interior.
Review 21:the breakfast was very basic. The staff could of been more friendly.
Review 22:The location of the hotel is excellent and it is in a very pretty building. The rooms are clean and comfortable,
Review 23:restaurant staff were much less so and brought down the average mark for this section
Review 24:reception staff were friendly, and would have qualified for top marks
Review 25:The bed was not very firm.
Review 26:The hotel is a charming one on the central square of one of the most beautiful old towns in Europe. This is one of the few hotels I've found recently that really feels old.
Review 27:The furniture is terrible: old, not clean. The waiter was not very eficient and not very polite (we had a party for about 50 people) and the service was poor, slow and -as mentioned - not very polite.
Review 28:The receptionist - Mr. Harry Duda, was very, very nice and helpful
Review 29:A modern building with industrial colors was built behind the main hotel building + polystyrene was used as isolation. This new building destroys the charm of the old city.
Review 30:the position on the main square for the main part of the hotel.
Review 31:Not enough heat. (It was very cold when we were there). No shower curtain, so had to be careful when showering so as not to wet entire room. Hotel did not have map of city. Lighting in room was terrible. Could not find things or read.
Review 32:Great location. Great breakfast included in price of room. Spacious room.
Review 33:Luckily I was there off-season, else it would have been a little bit expensive to stay there.
Review 34:It is an excellent hotel right in the centre of Sighisoara. Spacious rooms.
Review 35:The male receptionist appeared bored and, although not rude, this was reflected in his attitude. Perhaps he was just having a bad day!
Review 36:Great location on the Citadel.
Review 37:Some romes are noisy, you can hear your neigbours but we asked the hotel to change the room and they kindly accepted without extra charge.
Review 38:Location, staff, cleaness, good breakfast
Review 39:The internet listed as available in the business centre was the computer at the front desk. The staff were fine about letting us use it - just meant occasionally dealing with guests who thought I worked there.
Review 40:Location couldn't be better, right in the heart of Sighisoara's old town. Staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast and facilities were all excellent.
Review 41:My room smelt overpoweringly of cigarette smoke. Asked to change rooms but hotel was full. Opened all windows but absolutely everything was suffused with stale tobacco. The whole building I was in smelt of smoke and obviously occupants of other rooms were smoking. Bed was hard and bed linen smelt of smoke
Review 42:Great location.
Review 43:The confusion over whether we could park our car near the hotel (we were told on the second night that we had to park our car on the lower town for which we had to pay)
Review 44:Casa Wagner is located right in the heart of the upper city. Our room was on two levels, and charmingly antique. The view from the balcony was stunning.
Review 45:Nothing - other than we don't stay long enough
Review 46:Location, staff, accommodation, sense of history and tradition. The citadel is like stepping into a film set, with the Hotel serving as one of the stages, and all the staff are extra's in your own personal film
Review 47:Breakfast rather limited. No hair dryer in room. More than compensated by location and huge suite however.
Review 48:Excellent position in sighisoara old town square. Very cheap. Lovely old huge room. Lots hot water and corner bath
Review 49:I spent only one night there, but if I stay longer I gonna need a WiFi. In this hotel is available, but unfortunately not all of the room.
Review 50:There is a lovely hotel in the middle of the Medina. Traditional and at the same time comfortable. It is a diamond in Sighisoara. The customer service was excellent, and a cleanliness as well.
Review 51:not too many smiles on the staff faces. it was very hot, they were tired... the restaurant (until 12.00 there is no kitchen, they told us they will be opened until 23.00, at 21.30 no food available again...) Luckly there is a good traditional romanian restaurant just across the square.
Review 52:very good location in the main square of the old city. Old and nice building, large rooms, makes you feel like ancient knights and princesses
Review 53:Be aware that rooms facing the front can be noisy in summer when diners are just outside on the cobbled square. Having stayed here 8 years ago and enjoyed what seemed to be a genuinely warm family welcome from staff, we were disappointed by surly, rude and amateurish waiting staff, who struggled to cope with breakfast and snapped at a couple of elderly guests unnecessarily. They seemed to also be providing a canteen service for bus trip visitors staying elsewhere - but didn't seem to have the food or management skills to be able to manage it.
Review 54:Location is superb and rooms (particularly suite no. 2) beautifully furnished and atmospheric
Review 55:Some of the old furniture is a bit tatty in the single and twin rooms on the upper floor of the second building (across the road from reception). This furniture is just old and crude, rather than nice antiques. However this is made up for by the large bathrooms with bathtub!
Review 56:Everything (almost). Superb location, friendly staff, classic old building nicely restored. Classic double room was magnificent! Bathrooms with bathtub.
Review 57:The location is wonderful! Right in the centre of Sighioara, in a beautiful square and surrounded by nice buildings, cafeterias and gifts shops. The breakfast wasn't bad, and the staff was pretty nice and warm. we had no problems at all!
Review 58:Breakfast buffet could be a bit more varied.
Review 59:Super location, helpful staff. I had booked at the last minute on booking.com from my mobile phone. Arrived Friday night and discovered I had accidentally booked for Saturday! The staff handled it beautifully. My Romanian friends (a couple) got a huge suite and were very impressed. All rooms have traditional rustic touches but beds are comfy and the water is hot.
Review 60:Nothing, other than we didn't have enough time to spend here! We will be back to share this with our friends.
Review 61:Everything! From the location, right in the middle of the square, to the style of the rooms (like sleeping in a film set) to the fabulous staff. It is an amazing hotel. If you want a 'designer' modern hotel, go elsewhere as this will not be for you. If you want to step back in time to experience a gothic type ambience, go nowhere else! But the modern facilities of WiFi and TV are included without intruding on the atmosphere.
Review 62:Buffet breakfast a bit chaotic - staff slow at re-supplying food and coffee. Some food clearly left over from previous evening (garlic bread for breakfast??).
Review 63:I stay here often - this is a classic, restored Saxon house right in the very centre of medieval Sighisoara. Lots of character, old furniture, vaulted ceilings, well-equipped bathrooms (mine had a large jacuzzi corner bath).
Review 64:The room was a little small and the acces to it was difficult.
Review 65:I really liked the location. In the old citadel.
Review 66:Helpful staff.
Review 67:Basic accommodation. Poor stale breakfast. Coffee was undrinkable. Parties better looked after than individual travellers.
Review 68:Excellent location
Review 69:nothing special
Review 70:the location
Review 71:Breakfast not good. Old bread. Bad coffee. The bathroom smelled very bad.
Review 72:Location
Review 73:Poor breakfast, noisy, rooms not clean
Review 74:Nice location
Review 75:Old building with original features. Spacious room. Pleasant staff.
Review 76:The property is located right in the centre of the main area of the citadel. It is wonderfully appointed, super comfortable and just beautiful.
Review 77:L'animation le soir sur la place
Review 78:The room is a bit old. Had another tour group that made loud noise, so disturbing. Staff is not so friendly.
Review 79:location right at center
Review 80:Do not have dark.bread at breakfast
Review 81:Location and charming hotel
Review 82:The wi-fi in the top rooms was not very reliable.
Review 83:Location was great. The staff are very friendly. Good restaurant. Clean, comfortable and authentic.
Review 84:In the heart of Sighsoara Citadel, best location impossible.
Review 85:They didn't serve breakfast, as it supose to do (but the price of the room wasn't discounted cause of this).
Review 86:some dust on top of the closets
Review 87:fast room service
Review 88:The location was very convenient, in the heart of Sighisoara. The room very nice, warm and comfortable.
Review 89:Camera, locatia, personalul, decorul.
Review 90:Great location for Bran Castle and staff were very helpful. Simple hotel but great value for money.
Review 91:No parking place.
Review 92:Good breakfast and good services.
Review 93:Not suitable for handicapped people.
Review 94:Location; atmosphere
Review 95:The bed was hard. the lighting poor. No hair drier.
Review 96:Location, location, location! Our wonderful 'noble' room over looking the square.
Review 97:The steep hill road between the parking and the hotel
Review 98:Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff Eating at each hour of the day Excellent breakfast
Review 99:There was nothing tomdislike
Review 100:Location excellent and very helpful staff. Excellent breakfasts
Review 101:Should have stayed here longer
Review 102:Far exceeded expectations Wonderful location Wonderful experience Highly recommend Great place great people great price Romania more than we ever expected
Review 103:Be very wary of the kitchen/dining. As a group of 3 adults we ordered 3 entrees and 3 main courses. Entree for persons 1 and 2 arrived within 10 minutes, followed in another 5 minutes by main meal for person 1. After another 5 minutes main meal for person 3 arrived before the entree which arrived another 5 minutes later and was not as ordered. If you order sautéed aubergine, mushrooms, green peppers and zucchini you DO NOT WANT boiled peas, corn, carrot, beans and potato. We tried to return the unwanted vegetables but could not convince staff it was the incorrect dish. There is no excuse for misunderstanding when items are pointed to on the menu. Payment was demanded. The third main had to be requested again after waiting another half an hour.
Review 104:Minor issues with bathroom: lack of ventilation prevents floor and towels to dry up.
Review 105:Best location, beautifully period design. Pleasant , helpful staff. Location. Did I say location?
Review 106:Breakfast was a bit basic and seldom problems with warm water occurred.
Review 107:The staff was amazing!Very helpful and friendly, found solutions for our parking, helped us with information regarding the city, food, etc.The rooms were big and very clean.
Review 108:Don't hesitate, book a room for a night or two, you will not regret it. Location, location, location. Huge rooms! Our room had private sitting room, then, a monstrously large bedroom, both rooms with huge windows overlooking the piazza. Wonderful caring people working there. Wifi was strong. Without hesitation we'd stay here again. There's nothing sweeter than staying inside the walls, plenty to explore.
Review 109:rather distant and the 2 requests I made for information were forgotten or ignored.
Review 110:Central location, intelligent conversion of an old building, very comfortable bed, spacious room.
Review 111:Smoking...as with most places in Romania the non-smoking areas were not enforced. Also check with the hotel if your credit card does not have a pin (USA, Australian).
Review 112:Gorgeous rooms with great views on the main square. It was easy to walk everywhere. The breakfast was large including eggs, sausages, cheeses, and bread. The staff was helpful and understanding with their limited credit card (USA, Australian) options. We worked out a payment solution after leaving the hotel.
Review 113:Brilliant location in the central square of the town. We ate dinner in the hotel's restaurant and the food was excellent. We had a big room with a lovely big bathroom. Very comfortable.
Review 114:It was a friendly welcome like every time. Great location, good food, nice rooms - all good! So I extended my stay and enjoyed the blues festival that weekend.
Review 115:no cooker ... so no breakfast, but it's easy to find something near.
Review 116:excellent location , some rooms are renovated and looks great some still waiting this renovation; otherwise people very nice and helpful.
Review 117:Watch out for cold winter nights, it was a bit chilly in the room.
Review 118:Location was excellent, breakfast was all class, beautifully restored and furnished, perfect setting for a weekend in Sighisoara.
Review 119:Noisy, too noisy to be able to relax. The doors and windows are too thin and you cannot sleep because people are going up or down the stairs. The furniture is outdated and not well maintained. Bed linen are very old, pillows are impossible to sleep on. It smells like cooked food everywhere, like you are staying in the kitchen all day. The location is the only advantage.
Review 120:Excelllent location, right in the heart of the citadel. Nice medieval location and very nice personnel.
Review 121:The breakfast on the second day was almost empty, while we were there quite early. The waiter made up for this though.
Review 122:Very large room in a hotel that is in the exact middle of Sighisoara. Perfect!
Review 123:Mystified at how this hotel could have gotten so many high ratings. Mystay there was borderline terrible. The ancient bed creaked every timeI moved a muscle, and the mattress was as thin as a worn-out futon. Thepillows had no loft at all--even folding the both of them in half theybarely managed to lift my head above the level of the mattress. Thebathroom window had no curtain or blinds, and the shower-bath had nocurtain so I had to squat in the tub to avoid getting water everywhere. The walls were so thin that I heard every word of some idiot in thenext room Skyping her parents in North America at 1:00 in the morning.Staff barely acknowledged my arrival or departure and didn't warnme that I'd be ticketed if I parked by the hotel. Breakfast wasbarely adequate.
Review 124:Located in the heart of the citadel...although that's hardly anadvantage after dark, as that part of the city becomes deserted.
Review 125:The way to the room is problematic, The hot water in the shower making problem and Very poor breakfast
Review 126:Room is decorated, spacious room, perfect location, clean rooms
Review 127:Bed wasn't great, but ok. Same for the wifi.
Review 128:Perfect setting in gorgeous Sighisoara. Staff was very helpful. I wouldn't call it budget, but it was a good hotel for the cheapest rate we found on the square.
Review 129:Fittings a bit shakey: no light over the washbasin, our friends' curtain rail fell off the wall. We had to fight for our breakfast at the breakfast bar, but won through in the end.
Review 130:Wonderful location, friendly and un-pompous reception (a rarity!), romantic and tasteful decor, large comfortable beds, basin plug-hole that worked (a first in Central Europe!), quiet and clean.
Review 131:The room was in a different building than what we saw in the hotel photos when we ordered. Room was very uncomfortable, very very old, dusty and not clean, looking more like a dormitory than a hotel room. Staff was unkind and breakfast very poor.
Review 132:good location
Review 133:Location couldn't have been better. Very Large room with windows opening out into the central square. Modern bathroom - great shower. Comfortable bed. Excellent evening meal. possibility of sitting in square to eat. Convenient location for visiting Biertan and other fortified churches. Only minor problem was that one small window was without curtain, so light came in.
Review 134:Fridges installed in rooms (humming at night) but not stocked with drinks as minibars should be. Chaotic arrangement at reception for leaving luggage after check-out, meant my luggage disappeared with another group - fortunately recovered later!
Review 135:Excellent, comfortable, friendly hotel in perfect, prime position right at the centre of Sighisoara's small, medieval citadel. Excellent rooms, many are large and many have bathtubs (ours did). Authentic furniture, architecture and vaulted ceilings in best rooms. Friendly staff.
