Reviews for Cascades Lodge

Review 1:I already thought we were paying way too much for our 2 nights but at check in, An extra cost of an additional $200 was sprung at us for 2 nights for having 2 young kids. Even with it being peak season, it did not justify how much we spent for our 2 nights. I didn't know accommodations charge for young children staying with you when nothing about the room changes because of them. (I recently read a review about this happening to another family that I should have read before we booked) There were also threatening messages all over the lodge such as "do not allow guests in our pool or you'll be charged $50 and evicted immediately. Do not open emergency door or minimum penalty of $2500. Do not use this door if you are not a guest, you will be dealt with severely." We found it funny that they were so threatening. These were not even legitimate signs, they look generated from Microsoft word on the computer and printed out. The place hadn't been updated since the 70's and and has an old smell to it.

Review 2:The staff were all nice especially the bartender/front desk guy named John. He wore many hats in that place. The location to the ski lift is phenomenal and the convenience of the shuttle was great.

Review 3:The restaurant was not open at night like advertised. The indoor pool window was broken, the housekeeper told me we weren't allowed to play with pool toys due to the broken window because a previous guest had broken it. The housekeeper kept checking on us in the pool area to make sure we weren't playing ball-my son is 10. this was awkward and unfortunate. The TV is outdated also the heat was on and it was too uncomfortable in the room. Couldn't control the thermostat. there was a handful of families on vaca with plenty of vacancies and our room was facing the driveway. requested a mountain view. complimentary breakfast that was supposed to be free, was not free. Booking.com said our room would be 115. I paid the 115.00, the hotel charged me 40 dollars more plus they tried to say 12/person for our complimentary breakfast. We went elsewhere for breakfast. Will Not Return

Review 4:The room was clean. Honestly that's the best I can say.

Review 5:I didn't realize that was not any air conditioning, which was probably my oversight while searching for a hotel. Because of the warm weather we needed to leave the sliders open, which also let in the light from the front parking lot. The premises are a bit dated but very adequate.

Review 6:The staff was very friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was moved from 7:00AM to 6:30AM for the weekend to accommodate the schedules of athletes staying there. Very nice gesture.

Review 7:Way overpriced (welcome to Killington) for what it was. Couldn't take advantage of the free breakfast because it didn't open until after we had to leave. In-room coffee was undrinkable. Room faced the front of the building and the lights never were turned off or dimmed so it was bright in our room all night long. We had to open the sliding door because the heat was cranked up in the room so high we couldn't take it, so the lights were in our faces all night.

Review 8:Our room was very clean. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of extra pillows. Good sized room. Easy to navigate the hotel - looked like a decent bar and pool. Nice deck/sitting area outside of our sliding door.

Review 9:Bed a little hard but some people like firm beds. Don't like country decorating but it just my style.

Review 10:Super amazingly clean. Country decorated but all new bedspreads and curtains. Spotless. Breakfast was amazing. She gave you choices and you picked. Made to order. Full bar hot tub and indoor heated pool. Beautiful fireplace. Private living rooms if you want a meeting or get together.

Review 11:First of all, I called to change my reservation made through Booking.com shortly after I'd made it (and still 6 weeks prior to my stay), only to learn that this property doesn't allow for refunds (unlike a Marriott that I'd booked for a different leg of the same trip, which allowed for cancellations within 24 hours). I was not aware of this "fine print", and assumed all Booking.com reservations were the same. Beware, they are not! So I already had a bad taste in my mouth from arguing with the owner a few weeks prior when trying to make a change. Once we got to the hotel, I was shocked by how "1982" it looked. Nothing nice about it at all, and of course at Check In, there was the same unfriendly woman from the phone. The "best" was the ridiculous Continental Breakfast. They were too cheap to even offer brand-name cereals, instead we had a choice of "Flakes of Corn" or "Krisps of Rice."

Review 12:For the price it was very, very basic room. Thin walls, could hear neighbors quite clearly next door. Decor was very dated and ugly, no elevator to bring up all of the ski gear and luggage. No body there either to help with luggage.

Review 13:Staff was courteous and helpful. Was very close to mountain.

Review 14:No bartender in pub, but front desk staff would pour a drink.

Review 15:Room and premises were clean.Enjoyed the pool, hot tub could use makeover, but was functional.

Review 16:Condition of the pool was not well maintained (dirty tile line, super foamy hot tub) and the dehumidifiers in the pool area drained into the pool!!! Are you kidding me?! I'm sure it's not up to code...

Review 17:Location, convienience, food was ok, front desk was friendly and helpful. Sauna, changing rooms, and showers were clean. After we checked out, the Cascades Lodge allowed us to use all of their facilities before our 4 hour trip home. Great hospitality demonstrated there!

Review 18:The front desk was rude. We were told not to open our door to outside. As I stated before we had NO heat for a night, I slept in my snowboarding jacket/pants and was still freezing.

Review 19:Bed was a bit old big and was not comfortable to sleep on.

Review 20:Easy walk or quick trip on the shuttle to Snowshed n RamsHead slopes. Very clean and nice helpful staff. Secure building need to get in with room key when using the 2nd entrance and after a certain time room key is needed to get in front entrance. Breakfast is delicouse, has a nice family style area with fireplace, games, and a little dining area to order food and drinks.

Review 21:1. $330/night was a little steep given the quality of the rooms/beds which were very hard and blankets/linens were dated.

Review 22:1. Proximity to the mountain 2. The pub/lounge was really comfortable and rustic and had some good beers on tap. 3. "Free" breakfast was impressive 4. Staff was overall very friendly and accommodating

Review 23:Overall this inn has deteriorated...the room had a horrible smell, the carpet and chairs were not clean. Bed, pillows hard as rocks....pool and hot tub have seen better days...pool seemed a little cloudy and hot tub needed a scrubbing..the lounge had ripped chairs and sofa...breakfast was not up to their former high standards (seemed like frozen food) In the past we truly enjoyed their made to order breakfast. Sadly I would not stay here again. Overpriced for what it has turned into.

Review 24:The location. Staff very friendly

Review 25:There are no ceiling fans and no AC in the room. I know it is a ski resort but for the hot days of summer, it would be a great addition.

Review 26:The location and view is very nice. We did not eat anything there, as it was just a night to sleep and hit the road early. The place was clean and inviting. Cable and WIFI worked without issue.

Review 27:The beds are very uncomfortable and the pillows are no better otherwise everything else is great

Review 28:Everything is set up perfectly at

Review 29:Great staff

Review 30:The sink was outside the bathroom. No DVD player.

Review 31:Tasty breakfast, excellent pool, great view.

Review 32:All around great place to stay !! Stop and have a beer at the lounge and chat with John the barkeep!

Review 33:Very old and horrible beds

Review 34:Location and staff

Review 35:The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. You could hear everyone around you. Paper thin walls.

Review 36:The view was beautiful.

Review 37:Little pricey

Review 38:Great location, staff very pleasant and knowledgeable, clean comfy rooms. Breakfast choices were adequate.

Review 39:the sheets and pillow cases were so rough

Review 40:The staff was the fabulous. After having checked out, they let us come back for a shower after the Spartan Race. We will definitely stay there again.

Review 41:Perfect location

Review 42:Location, staff, rooms, hospitality were all great. Definitely planning a return trip.

Review 43:The staff are amazing!

Review 44:being right next to the pool!

Review 45:Only thing is that the water tasted salty like the ocean,,,,

Review 46:Great location, cozy,,,great bar and fireplace

Review 47:no bottled water in the room no thermostat way too hot no change machine for vending

Review 48:The location was excellent. Everyone was so friendly and the hotels is clean .

Review 49:The Staff was awesome!

Review 50:Rooms were a bit hot at night. It was unclear on booking.com that it was necessary to select children from a drop box when booking the room. Were surprised when we arrived and were charged an additional 70/day for 2 children under six. We felt that was a little expensive considering we only had a single room with 2 beds. Was discussed with owner also.

Review 51:Pool and location.

Review 52:Even though Booking.com indicated that we had purchased 'the lastroom', and Columbus Day weekend is an extremely busy weekend forfall foliage in Vermont, the resort told us the facility was not fullyup and running for its busy season. Therefore, the fireplace was notgoing, breakfast consisted of cereal, and oatmeal packages, no fruit orany type of bread or pastry. It was a barebones hotel experience, forover $200 a night. The resort is probably lovely during ski season, butwe were expecting the same treatment for the amount of money we paidduring Fall Foliage season.

Review 53:The location is beautiful and the resort was very clean and charming. The pool and hot tub were nice. The staff were very friendly andwelcoming.

Review 54:The breakfast in the morning was nothing to rave about but was free so can't complain too much. The rooms were in desperate need of an upgrade. We stayed at another place a little bit farther away that was less expensive and much better quality. You are basically paying for location here.

Review 55:It was great being so close to the mountain. The pool and hot tub were great for the kids.

Review 56:There was a snow storm outside and the restaurant at the hotel servedlunch and dinner only to the students and their teachers who had somekind of special aggrement with the hotel. We, normal guests were notserved any food. No delivery from an outside restaurant was possible forlunch. In that snow storm we had to go to another hotel to find food.

Review 57:Rooms are large and clean.

Review 58:Rooms show they have been around for awhile, but everyplace atkillington is like it and most much worse

Review 59:Location, clean, accomadating, friendly, good breakfast, nice bar, nicepool and hot tub

Review 60:my husband is sensitive to smells. He thought it smelled a little musty...I did not smell anything. Also the people above us were very loud...def not hotels fault,we just were not able to sleep.

Review 61:very comfortable

Review 62:mattress, breakfast

Review 63:Location, pool, hot tub

Review 64:Property is a little dated

Review 65:This property is walking distance to the Snowshed Lodge at Killington. Has a bar and free breakfast.

Review 66:Can't check in early.

Review 67:Location and the pool, hot tub, and breakfast.

Review 68:A bit smelly of old furnishing.

Review 69:Location is good. Nice view.
