Reviews for Viva Marinha Hotel & Suites

Review 1:It is an expensive place that let you pay for all small things like tea bags, coffee pads, water. These kind of things should be for free. There is a fireplace but no wood that you can use.... Kitchen equipment not complete, probably not meant to be used....

Review 2:Location is good, apartment has plenty of room

Review 3:Reception staff were officious - after a long journey one wanted a greeting not a processed robot. Hooks in the bathroom for robes / PJs might be useful Pool area very windy

Review 4:Upgraded to a suite. Really comfy room, well appointed and bed was super. Toiletries wonderful Underground parking Happy hour capairinhas!

Review 5:It's located in an enormous domain and we had a lot of trouble finding the entrance. Room wasn't serviced until 4 pm, which is a bit late.

Review 6:Excellent place to relax. Spacious rooms!

Review 7:Coffe machine in the room is promised - but each use is charged at euro 2.5 !! ??? We were lucky to have private coffe kettle with us.

Review 8:Very realaxed resort but far from center.

Review 9:Only one restaurant and also the whole place felt a bit cold and dull. Could be a lot nicer.

Review 10:Plenty of trees within the resort, nice to walk around, calm. Good variety of bread and cakes at breakfast.

Review 11:Bad service: no toilet paper in the room; restaurant was full, no room service menu in the room and no solution presented - we went to dine outside

Review 12:Very good facilities and natural surroundings

Review 13:Quiet far from city center and beaches, no shuttle service, can recommend only for travellers with car

Review 14:Spacious and nice rooms, big hotel territory, free parking

Review 15:The hotel is a fairly unnatractive. Many suites appear to be either on long term rental or privately owned. Some have fairy lights up, trampolines in their garden area, kids slides etc. which gives a scruffy unkempt vibe to the grounds. The sofa bed for the children was terrible. It had a hard bar right across the middle and a very thin mattress. The kids could not have slept on it for more than one night. The communal areas are fairly limited without a proper bar. The gardens are not well maintained. We did not eat in the restaurant as it was a buffet night, we had a look at the food which did not look particularly appetising.

Review 16:Staff were very helpful. The one bedroom suite was quite large with good facilities but dark. The main bed was huge and comfortable.

Review 17:We had fantastic holiday, the hotel is gorgeous with a beautiful swimming pool. The suite we stayed in was spacious and had a well equipped kitchen. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is perfect for exploring the surrounding area and Sintra and Lisbon were stunning. Cascais is also lovely and has some good attractions with nice beaches. Would recommend hiring a car to see as much as possible.

Review 18:Not much kitchen utensils and no general food eg salt, pepper, coffee, t bags., washing up liquid. Can purchase at a price at hotel. Drinks very expensive Expecting 2 separate pools rather than 1 pool divided in half. Not deep enough to properly swim in.

Review 19:Very spacious rooms and layout of resort fantastic such that never felt crowded even when hotel full. Wonderful peaceful location but near enough to fascia s central if needed a buzz.

Review 20:Quite a few broken deck chairs in the pool area. This is not helped by having inconsiderate guests that "reserve" the chairs for the whole day by leaving their towel on them even though they are away from the pool for hours. The staff should do more to free up unused chairs.

Review 21:Lovely peaceful surroundings in a great location. Spacious and modern apartment with great design. Fantastic breakfast. Large swimming pool with interesting design.

Review 22:True 5 star hotel, absolutely perfect, absolutely worth its money, best hotel we stayed in Portugal. Amazing swimming pool, amazing garden, free parking, everything is just great and 5 stars. Highly recommended to stay in Cascais.

Review 23:I informed the hotel staff I was getting married when I called in after making the reservation and that I would be receiving the photographer etc. They gave me a room that was closed for awhile it had dust everywhere. Stained carpets, stained sofas, dirty living room table and a stained stove area perfect for picture taking:(. At 130 am They had to come to my room to fix the water heater ok thats acceptable things may not work at times but in this case there was a gas maintenance made days before and they did not review the rooms functions before renting it out after its maintenance. One of the beds was made on the floor when its sleeping capacity was for six meaning in beds and not on the floor. One of the rooms did not have a light. My dress was placed in front of one of thr windows and in the corner of the windows it had spider webs..Thanks!

Review 24:I liked the property itself and the apartments location. Staff was also very nice.

Review 25:Remote from the main town, Dinner in the restaurant a bit stuffy, need to book a seating time. Resolved with a $10 cab ride to town. Breakfast is recommended though, patio is opened, good value and food.

Review 26:Great resort, pool, breakfast, the room with Kitchen, Living room, 2 baths, patio, good value for the rate.

Review 27:Could have a bit more attention to having a few more basic items in the kitchen. Couple of weeds that had been growing for sometime in our seperate patio area.

Review 28:Spacious, very clean and high quality. Efficient and friendly staff. Provides a shuttle service to nearby restaurants, etc. Very nice main pool area.

Review 29:It's quite far out of cascais and the shuttle bus facility seems to only run when the hotel chooses, which means relying on taxis. The spa, food, mini bar etc are pricey.

Review 30:The hotel and it's facilities are of a good quality in beautiful, peaceful grounds.

Review 31:no electric kettle in the kitchen

Review 32:the staff was really nice and helpful the room was roomy and homely the landscape and the quietness made up considering the rainy weather

Review 33:The fully equipped kitchen didn't have a kettle. A bit far out of town 10 euro each way

Review 34:The suites were very spacious, with modern features. Very quiet location. Great friendly staff.

Review 35:Impeccable service from all staff. Breakfast is delicious & has a good variety. We had the 2 bedroom apartment and highly recommend it! It´s incredibly spacious, homely with all modern appliances. A luxurious yet charming hotel, ideal for romance and beach holiday getaways.

Review 36:The cost of drinks at the bar were high.

Review 37:I was very fortunate to get a room upgrade. The staff were all very polite and hotel standards were first class.

Review 38:The hotel is a little hard to find as all of the roads to the north are blocked off in a seemingly illogical way and that is where our satnav tried to take us. Breakfasts seems expensive, so I bought lovely fresh bread and pastries from a nearby Lidl. Also, bring your own nespresso pods to avoid the expensive room service charge.

Review 39:Our kids loved the pool and the large outdoor areas, while we liked being close to Cascais and the interesting restaurants. The setting is quiet and relaxing and the rooms are fitted out to a high standard with good beds and pillows. The sea breeze means its not as hot as you may expect, though aircon was welcome.

Review 40:Staff is professional, but a bit on the cold side.

Review 41:Spacious rooms, new and clean fittings, large bathroom and convenient kitchenette. Large pool area. Ideally located for a visit to Sintra and surroundings. Simply a great place to stay.

Review 42:Check-in delayed two hours due to late room cleaning. Booking.com charged €7 for Internet when it was actually free for all guests.

Review 43:Child friendly, ease of parking. Fast, free internet.

Review 44:Would have been nice if the bar by the swimmingpool had a bit more to offer and had a more extensive seating area.

Review 45:This is a place to bring younger kids to enjoy time in and around the pool. Nice location when you want to be secluded from the normal huzzle and buzzle of a city center. In general we had a pleasant and relaxed time at Viva Marinha.

Review 46:Some real kid's club or better equipped playgorund would be helpful. No tea making facilities in the room, you also need to pay for coffee. The swimming pool should have been ready (cleaned) earlier than at 10am in the peak season.

Review 47:We stayed with two small kids in a luxury double room in the ground floor (this is important when you're with the kids). The room was nicely equipped and spacious enough to accommodate four of us without any problem. The swimming pool is just amazing. Even though it gets crowdy on the sunny days, you always find some place for you. Just bear in mind it might not be sunny in Cascais even in the peak season. Then, you need some B plan, because it might be boring when you can't use the swimming area (it's located far the center of Cascais). The staff were all excellent, friendly, speaking good English. We didn't buy breakfast as this is rather expensive, but there is Lidl just a few km away so you can easily organize this on your own at low cost. We had free Wi-fi which was perfectly working. The area is very safe with guards at the entrance. You can park your car either outside or in a garrage, which is very convenient when staying with the kids. The cleaning service was really nice. Easy to get by car to Cascais center, Cabo do Roca, and Sintra. We'll be definitely back and recommend it to the others.

Review 48:Loudness by some neighbours at night outside (unrespectful). coffee in the room ist not free, what a pity for a 5 stars establishment. This should be offered on courtesy.

Review 49:gorgeous vegetation, very rich breakfast, which one we would recommend everybody!

Review 50:Hotel itself is a large, impersonal looking building - ugly and looks like an apartment complex. No charm whatsoever. Long wait for breakfast. Gym only opens late in the morning which is very inconvenient if you want to work out early and get on with your day.

Review 51:Large clean rooms with good facilities. A very pretty location but you need a car to get around. Pool area pretty and nicely landscaped. Staff were courteous and friendly.

Review 52:The location. No bakery or supermarket nearby. You will need a car to get around and visit attractions.

Review 53:The familysuite we stayed in was very well equipped and nice decorated. We appreciated free wifi connection, that has been an issue according to some provisous reviews no booking.com. No doubt that should be complementary in a ***** apartment.

Review 54:The staff were all excellent and very attentive, friendly and fantastic with our children. The kids activities were great for my daughter who is into arts and crafts. The Wednesday night BBQ is worth going to as it has lovely steaks and good value as the kids eat free.

Review 55:This is not really a true hotel, it's an apartment complex which is part hotel part privately owned complex. Is is far from a 5* hotel as it claims with only one small restaurant and a makeshift bar in the lobby. It's also miles from town in an area which seems half built. Given the hotel was not full I was annoyed to have to wait 3 hours for check-in and then to be given a ground floor unit facing the car park.

Review 56:Our suite was very large by any standards so very comfortable

Review 57:Room service .. How come a big hotel like this and they don't offer ice buckets .. I feel That I was asking for something strange ..

Review 58:Everything was good .. Service was good The bar guy buy the pool was amazing helpful

Review 59:For dinner or lunch the food in the hotel restaurant is not so good.

Review 60:Countryside close to Lisbon. Breakfast is excellent. Big and nice rooms

Review 61:Was a little bit difficult to find the hotel.

Review 62:Very spacious rooms.

Review 63:Breakfast very poor Plastic flowers everywhere certainly not 5 star - nearer 3 star

Review 64:friendly staff nothing else

Review 65:A bit too big resort and lacking character.

Review 66:Lovely garden and pool. We were upgraded to a suite.

Review 67:Little noise from the fuse box... constant humming.

Review 68:Very quiet hotel, and good facilities.

Review 69:staff is quite stiff, no 5star experience. Slow service in restaurant.

Review 70:Good value for money, great pool area

Review 71:Everything!!

Review 72:Absolute tranquility. Beautiful grounds and pool with shady trees. Very friendly and attentive staff.

Review 73:The a/c wasn't cold enough.

Review 74:Rituals is the supplier of the shampoo and soap! Excellent!

Review 75:The bed is uncomfortable due to the lining.

Review 76:Wifi has strong signal. Very clean.

Review 77:The staff are lovely. Gave us an upgrade and strived to achieve an excellent service! Congratulations!

Review 78:Nice staff, large, confortable and very well equiped room with modern materials. Great location, felt secure.

Review 79:The diner in the hotel was a disaster.

Review 80:Breakfast was very good

Review 81:The suite was well designed and very comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly

Review 82:Spa is small and smell very bad.

Review 83:Great large room ans fantastique pool

Review 84:Need own transport

Review 85:Comfortable, spacious suite, full kitchen, good dining, ample parking, free wifi, lovely gardens and pool.

Review 86:Spa not according to a 5-star-standard.

Review 87:Very nice and spacious room. Nice pool area and garden surronding the hotel. Good breakfast. Quiet location.

Review 88:the service in swing pool, 2 hours awaiting for food and drinks.

Review 89:the room

Review 90:As a five star resort, I think we deserve to have free WiFi, bottles of mineral water, and free charge of using their bicycles. It was 10EUR per hour if we would like to use one bike to go around the area. And there wasn't even a complimentary tea bag nor coffee.........

Review 91:Very secure environment, with guard at the gate checking all the vehicles. Very comfortable room and facilities.

Review 92:The pool was under maintenance but will be ready for the summer. Lovely setting in garden ground, spacious and relaxing. There is a coffee machine, a few fruit infusions would have been nice, but this is a minor point.

Review 93:Set in stunning garden grounds with absolute peace and quiet. If you need to relax in a superb country setting yet close to Cascais you won't be disappointed. The 2-bed suite was huge 140 + metres, very large sitting/dining room, fully fitted kitchen, 2 spacious bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Excellent balcony, with tables and chairs catching the sun in the morning (rm 107). We were there for a special occasion and had dinner in the hotel which was good. The breakfast was good, with teas/coffee, pastries, crepes, fruit, cereals, hot choices (scrambled egg, bacon, sausages etc). Proximity to Cascais.

Review 94:The setting is lovely but a bit remote. Must have a car. No sea view.

Review 95:The staff attention is exceptional. Design/ decor is modern, elegant but also welcoming and comfortable.

Review 96:hotel services are on the low side and make the hotel a little bit boring: restaurant is poor, no real kid's club, empty lounge (free wifi access in the lounge would make the bar more busy), no play ground for children... The hotel management could be much more dynamic and make journeys unforgettable. Friendly and professional staff however.

Review 97:hotel with very high potential: very nice rooms with high quality furnitures, nice parc and swimming pool, ideally situated...

Review 98:Very nice facilities, suite, garden with pool. Staff is extremely attentive and service is generally top of the range. The best hotel we have spent our family vacation on.Good value for money, too.

Review 99:the staff were more then friendly, had excellent English, the facilities were brilliant , free internet, free access to sauna , jacuzzi and a gym , a huge outdoor pool with a pool bar and many loungers were available . the room itself was very spacious , clean , luxerious and extremely equipped. the hotel also had a shuttlebus available free of charge, the food in the hotel was just excellent, the hotel was about a 5 minute taxi drive from cascais taxis only costed about 7 euro for 4 people, overall i would highly recommend this hotel

Review 100:A bit secluded and not to easy to find on the Sat Nav the first time

Review 101:Very nice rooms, lots of space, lots of parking spaces, amazing pool, very relaxing

Review 102:Not much, area can be very windy. Hotel pool was out of action, but we were allowed to use the 5 star hotel facilities next door which was lovely.

Review 103:Quality of the rooms and fittings. Very clean and well run. Excellent staff very friendly and fun. Quiet location, easy drive to the beaches and Cascais. Top quality restaurants and beaches.

Review 104:Too far out of the town for convenience. Though it was self catering, had to taxi into the town to get supplies. Had to use the shuttle bus when it was available. Otherwise had to use a cab which never had a babyseat. Seemed to have too few staff. The food in the restaurant was quite poor, but we had to use it at times with the baby. Would not recommend this if you have children. There was no real defined bar area. The cafe doubled as bar.No atmosphere really.I would not rate it 5 star but probably 4 star.

Review 105:The room was lovely. Staff were quite helpful. Free shuttle bus into the town. The pool was in a lovely garden area with trees.

Review 106:Really nice hotel, great rooms, and staff were very nice. Location isabout 5 miles or a €7 euro taxi from town, so that could add up over aweek, but great hotel to relax in. If you have car, it a good base tovisit local beaches etc. Overall, very relaxing stay (Sep 2012)

Review 107:I visit Cascais regularly and always stay at the Vivamarinha Hotel. The suites are roomy, elegant and comfortable. The pool and garden areas are beautifully landscaped and well used by hotel guests of all ages. Food is excellent. The multilingual staff members are efficient, attentive and friendly, even when very busy. The location is quiet - woods, golf courses, country club mansions - but 30 minutes from Lisbon and the airport, 10 minutes from Cascais, 5 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean and 2 minutes from a variety of premium golf courses. But bring your own transport.

Review 108:Small detail but the bread at breakfast was terrible and not traditional Portuguese bread. A small detail that should be fixed.

Review 109:Friendly staff & nice rooms

Review 110:The pool-side food: sandwiches & salads, was not very good.

Review 111:The family suite was quite comfortable for a family of 5 with kids ranging from 1 to 17 years old. I recommend including breakfast in your booking. There was variety and it was tasty. The hotel staff was wonderful. Extremely accommodating and friendly, they made the experience.

Review 112:This is not really a hotel in the traditional sense, but is a series of villas and apartments with some hotel facilities. The service is really not up to 5* hotel standards. No information is provided upon arrival. The "free transfer" into town has to be booked 24 hours in advance, and even then they turn up late and do it begrudgingly. We ended up using taxis in and out in preference (7 euros). Dinner has to be reserved even though the restaurant seemed to be empty most of the time.

Review 113:Great rooms with plenty of space and good kitchenette. The living room has a separate entrance so it is easy to put kids to bed in there and still use the rest of the room without disturbing them. Breakfast is excellent with a good choice of fresh fruit, pastries, hams and cheeses.

Review 114:The pool area was very windy, there was nothing that shut out the Atlantic breeze, which could be very strong at times. The pool-area was pretty busy and even noisy at times. We had to wait some time for our breakfasttable.

Review 115:Very clean, spacious hotel. Friendly staff. Great facilities. Food was decent. The location was very nice.

Review 116:Hotel was too far from the beach. The restaurant menu was notvaried enough.

Review 117:A peaceful hotel (although we were unfortunate to pick a Harley Davidsonrally weekend) although a large hotel it didn't give a crowdedimpression. Staff were extremely helpful. Room was nicely situated tocatch the sun.

Review 118:It was quite a long walk to get from our room to reception and thebreakfast buffet could be a little hectic. But these are niggles thewhole experience was lovely.

Review 119:Loved the luxurious feeling, rooms that looked as though they'd come outof a glossy magazine. Wonderful having a balcony that looked out overwoodland. The grounds were lovely to walk around. It was great to swimin the pool and look out at the trees. And very good value for money.Particularly economical to eat lunch and dinner there compared to localrestaurants.

Review 120:Not near the town or public transportation. You should really have your own transportation to fully enjoy being here.

Review 121:We are repeat customers at the Viva Marinha, and each time our stay has been delightful. The suites are spacious, elegant, comfortable and practical; the staff is friendly, courteous and helpful; the setting and grounds are gorgeous.

Review 122:no wifi in rooms, only at the lobby which is not up-to-date and not acceptable.

Review 123:150 qm family suite very comfortable. outdoor pool clean and not crowded. excellent sport area with high-end technogym. polite staff in all areas. at restaurant: good food, fair prices, experienced both excellent and really bad service there. hotel offers free-of-charge shuttle in the area but not to the airport.

Review 124:No inside swimming pool which is not essential to enjoying this fabulous hotel but would make it perfect.

Review 125:The comfort is fabulous, rooms just lovely, particularly having room facilities that allow food to be made in the room. The surrounding area is gorgeous.

Review 126:The only little thing we didn't like - dishes in the kitchen were never washed ( during 3 days of our stay).

Review 127:We stayed at Viva Marinha Hotel & Suites for the second time and were very pleased by the quality of the provided services. Very nice area where you can take a bicycle or just walk around, comfortable bed and furniture. Breakfast was great!

Review 128:Mattresses and pillows too hard for my preference! Spa/indoor pool notmarvellous.

Review 129:Rooms are spacious, elegant, clean, quiet and comfortable. Great to havethe kitchenette facilities. All staff are helpful, friendly, efficient.Surroundings, garden, outdoor pool are open, beautiful, perfectlymaintained, quiet. Location is perfect for golf, cycling, walking, lazing in the sun. Dining is excellent. Masses of parking. Ocean, beaches, shopping, airport, Lisbon, natural/historical sites all withineasy driving distance. Free wifi in the lobby. Lovely bathrooms.

Review 130:Everything

Review 131:Beautiful grounds, very clean and modern building and room.

Review 132:Absolutely beautiful location. Feels like abrand new hotel but it's already open for 6 years.
