Reviews for Hillside Inn

Review 1:Dead flies in the room, spider webs and the walls seem to be dirty with some sort of sticky stuff. Another fly alive which we chased trying to splatter him for 20 minutes, the mattress is super stiff and uncomfortable.

Review 2:I like how close it is to the mountain trails

Review 3:Booked as last minute extra night to pre-planned trip. Priced at $149 you'd think it would at least be ok.... Not! Worse than a $50 motel. Not enough parking for all guests. Had to walk up 3 flights of stairs to get to the room but that's not the bad part! Had 2 young kids with us. The rooms are disgusting- dead bugs and stains on the floor. Clear they never cleaned. The bedding was disgusting- not only old nasty stains but the sheets were dirty- curly hairs and dirt and crumbs in the sheets. Had to have the kids lay out clothes on the sheets- the owner clearly was trying to make the most money with least investment. Did not seem very friendly so I didn't bother calling to ask for new sheets. Would never ever stay here again- for $30 more the next night Corrina Inn was fantastic! We're not snobby just at least expect clean! Dis not stay for breakfast because I didn't want to end up sick for our day skiing and could only imagine how sanitary it would be!

Review 4:Only good thing is proximity to the mountain!

Review 5:Stained sheets, short shower curtain, low quality breakfast, clutter in the eating and dining area, poor snow removal, thin walls, poor old TV, and general dated state of hotel.

Review 6:Convenient location.

Review 7:Bed was not very comfortable. Seems like it might be time for new mattresses. Light in shower was out. This hotel is fine for one night and roomy for skiers.

Review 8:The room was clean and has nice space. The little kitchen was clean and helpful to have.

Review 9:Water from faucet smelled funky, walls were too thin as you can easily hear people talking and laughing outside in the middle of the night (around 2-3 am), they did serve free breakfast but on our last day which is a monday, I asked about their waffles, I was told by who I guessed is the manager that they didn't serve it because there weren't enough guests, seriously?

Review 10:It was only 3.1 mi from the slopes, area was well lit, free breakfast included

Review 11:There was no view unless your drapes were open, and then anyone walking by could look into your hotel room and see you there, whatever you were doing, so if you wanted privacy, the drapes had to be closed completely. They use strong room scent which wasn't very pleasant to me. When I asked that it not be used the following day, they didn't tell the housekeeping person. The wi-fi was spotty. I had to wait several minutes for a connection sometimes. Sometimes I had to wait up to 7 minutes for it to connect.

Review 12:Comfortable bed. Clean facilities. Warm water upon demand. Good location. Close to everything I needed. Quiet location, away from the street.

Review 13:I didn't really get into the hotel room which I have booked, because the owner just simply gave this room to smoebody else after the first time they did not successfully charge from my credit card.

Review 14:We were in an accident and unable to get there. Tried to cancel reservation prior to arrival and I was told NO. I thought that I could cancel when we set up our reservation. I feel mislead

Review 15:I didnt like the fact that there was a spider in our bed when we pulled back the blankets. Also the shower was very awkward. I felt like the water was going to go all over the place because there wasnt a lip to keep it all confined to the shower its self.

Review 16:I liked the location. The big sign out front made it easy to find

Review 17:Our room was dirty, cold ( heat was controlled by office), shower head was held up with a rubber band and a ribbon tie. Walls and doors were dirty. Recommended that Booking.com review before listing this site. Probably OK place for young skiers.

Review 18:Not much

Review 19:God location, good parking. Comfortable and spacious room with kitchen facilities. Owner was there when I checked out and was very accommodating and we had a good conversation. I would definitely be back and will stay here for a few days.

Review 20:The only suggestion I have is to serve some fruit in the breakfast area.

Review 21:I liked the idea of a full counter with cupboards along with the fridge, microwave and sink. The motel was located closed to the areas we visited. The room was very clean and appeared to be newly decorated

Review 22:parking at this motel is horrible there are way too many rooms for the amount of parking spaces. I requested a room on the bottom floor and in the back away from the noise of the parking lot as it is hard for me to climb stairs and was told that my reservations did not have any special requests.

Review 23:No elevator to second floor. Those cases of hers felt mighty heavy!

Review 24:Clean comfortable room. Well appointed. Helpful friendly staff. Adequate continental breakfast. Good value.

Review 25:Mattresses were HORRIBLE to sleep on, my partner and I slept in separate beds to avoid rolling off the sides. Comforters and cloth headboards looked as though plenty of people had slept on it and room while great layout is quite dated and has a funny smell. Also of mention bathroom fan didn't work in room 233 and leaving one tiny 'conditioning shampoo' isn't sufficient. Hot breakfast was barely not very good.

Review 26:Location was great, price was fair and the room was fairly clean.

Review 27:Poor first impression upon arrival and went downhill from there. Room was cold and no temp regulator. Bed was hard. Stain on bed cover. Not kept up well. Couldn't wait to get out of there!

Review 28:Really nothing

Review 29:Staff were unfriendly, unhelpful, amenities such as coffee, linens bkfst bar, were as cheap, and stingy as was possible. From weak coffee in sm cups, to cheap tp, to skimpy towels, cheap, cheap, cheap in every sense!

Review 30:Location was convenient

Review 31:Parking was a bit of a pain, def not enough room for a hotel that size. Breakfast area is also tiny - was completely packed at 730 am. Had to pass on breakfast because of it.

Review 32:Friendly staff, clean facilities.

Review 33:Extremely unfriendly staff. The lady barely gave us any information during check-in, we had to inquire about breakfast, and she wouldn't event listen to us when we were trying to explain that we were one less person. At breakfast she asked my friend what she was staring at, when she showed up next to her to get some water. It was really border-line. The place served our needs in terms of providing a room/bed for the weekend, but that's about it.

Review 34:Price was ok.

Review 35:Beds are not very comfortable but that's usually expected.

Review 36:Very friendly staff and beautiful area. Room was clean and very nice. It seemed new and was cozy.

Review 37:The continental breakfast sun was good. Wished we could have taken advantage of it sat. With a majority of guests up and out early perhaps,an earlier start time to the continental breakfast would have been beneficial. Overall good experience

Review 38:Loved the proximity to Mt killington.

Review 39:Breakfast is included but doesn't start until 730. I was there for a race at Killington at 8. Also no protein offered all carbs. Bread, bagels, waffles, cereal. No meat no eggs c'mon. They went really cheap on breakfast. Microvave 8n room but mini fridge didn't get very cold.not enough parking.

Review 40:Very close to Killington

Review 41:no problems. Don't believe the bad reviews about this place. It was great.

Review 42:The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was small but good. Room was quiet.

Review 43:The women at the front desk is not friendly. You need to have better customer service. I called to tell her about check-in date change and she snapped and said something about you still have to pay.

Review 44:We stay here sometimes when visiting Killington. It's ok for the price and location.

Review 45:Very good location for my travels. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The prices were excellent and very affordable. Please do not raise them as that would give you less traveled!!ers!

Review 46:They don't have an ice machine but did have some to give you. The breakfast in the am should offer maybe some fruit options. And wine glasses would be added touch

Review 47:Room felt fresh with newer carpet. Good parking for motorbike can view from room. Fridge and sink great . Close to town. Excellent price .

Review 48:There was no soap for when we took showers. Along with the no soap, there was no door for the bathroom just some sort of curtain. Lady at the front desk was to happy either.

Review 49:The beds were very uncomfortable and the one TV station I wanted to see (FOX News) didn't come in although the tv listing said it did.... The manager was not on site when we checked in...housekeeper could not resolve the tv issue said manager usually arrives at 10p.m. and we could speak to him then...too late to help.

Review 50:The bathroom and shower facilities were very clean and modern.

Review 51:Vending machines didn't work, no ice machine, breakfast consists of store bought pastry bagels, and cold cereal.

Review 52:Coffee was great. Staff was great. Location was great. Nothing fancy but you get what you pay for and all we wanted was a bed for the night. Wouldn't stay here if it were longer than a night or two.

Review 53:The "breakfast" was awful. The choices were 2 different kindsof cereal, toast and a few sad looking pastries. No fruit of any kind, nothing for someone who has gluten issues like we both do. How aboutadding fruit, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, etc? Also, sign said now openwhich implied it was new. It is actually quite run down and opening thedoor with the key took 5 minutes.

Review 54:The breakfast could use some serious improvements.

Review 55:The room was spacious; the double bed was an actual double, not 2 singles pushed together; there was a coffee machine and fridge in the kitchen area; value for money

Review 56:We were 3rd floor and struggled getting our luggage up all those stairs. It was just myself and young child, so pretty much myself hoofing up everything. I saw a few people struggling.

Review 57:I was very impressed with the deco and cleanliness Extra value in price makes it even better. We stumbled across it while searching for a last minute place to stay ( I was just dropping a relative off and my child wanted to stay and explore beautiful Vermont )

Review 58:Bed was uncomfortable for me. Parking lot was small. Many people had to park along a side street next to the hotel.

Review 59:Stayed just 1 night in the Killington area. This hotel was a great value for the location. Surprised that there was a kitchenette.

Review 60:Although the breakfast was very minimal you couldn't ask for more based on the excellent price. I would just say that the parking was a challenge. The lot wasn't big enough for all the travelers and people had to park on the sides of the driveway coming in and it was awkward.

Review 61:I liked that the toilet was in a separate room. The beds were comfortable and although we couldn't manage the temperature it seemed just fine. It even had a little kitchenette!

Review 62:doubt they clean the room very well between guests: I forgot a sweater in the closet and I had to call them two times for them to check if it was there.

Review 63:They eventually did send my hoodie, which was cool, but they gave me the wrong price and it was kind of a complicated process for something that is suppose to be very simple.

Review 64:I was traveling with a service dog and paid cash upon check in. Later found that they had also charged my card. When I called about it, the woman was rude, but eventually refunded the money. When I said they also needed to pay me the overdraft fee I was charged due to their mistake, she said I had to speak to a Manager. Conveniently the manager wasn't in. Called the next day and spoke to the manager. He claimed it was charged again as a "hold" because I had a dog. I explained they aren't allowed to charge or hold anything with a service dog. He got angry, yelled at me and refused to do anything more and threatened to charge me again.

Review 65:The area was nice, hotel was fairly clean.

Review 66:- not enough space for parking; - breakfast should be improved, it was only 2 types of cereal, coffee and some bread with jam

Review 67:- the room had a nice kitchen; - the double bed was really a double size mattress; - no neighboring hotels in sight; - reliable wifi; - nice attitude from the staff

Review 68:blankets smelled like "Ben -Gay" coffee spills near coffee pot black hair in sink and on towel bars mattresses hard and lumpy

Review 69:allowed us to check in early

Review 70:Lack of English language skills from manager. It was a bit difficult to understand what he was asking for and he misunderstood our question. WE had heard that the breakfast was very limited so we went elsewhere.

Review 71:Price and accommodations were both good.

Review 72:rooms were not cleaned daily, no door on the bathroom. An additional fee was added upon check-in , and we had to go to the office and get clean towels when the room was not cleaned after our first night.

Review 73:Terrible breakfast a couple of hard mini bagels and rice crispy's!

Review 74:Room was fine for the money! Clean room, great area, went off season area really deserted! Beautiful area!

Review 75:The room smelled bad and the comforters smelled like BO, we could not adjust the temperature of the room. The tv was broken. The 'breakfast' was just bagles, coffee, and muffins. No fruit or anything healthy.

Review 76:The location was great! For a very brief stay it was not bad. Nice staff.

Review 77:no utensils, plates in the kitchen. The parking is a problem...a Big Problem!! Bring back the oatmeal, eggs & fruit for breakfast.

Review 78:clean room....spacious.

Review 79:The rooms can get noisy when busy. The carpet was a little dingy, but really it's a great cost-effective place to stay on the Killington access road.

Review 80:Loved the waffle iron at breakfast (weekends only), and the location. Asked for extra pillows and they brought them. It snowed a ton while we were there and they kept the road and parking areas in great shape.

Review 81:When we were staying at this hotel we could hear what was happening in the other rooms. The breakfast wasn't great and it started really late. There were to heaters to dry the clothes.

Review 82:Location

Review 83:The owners were not welcoming and were limiting the amounts of towels we were allowed to use for the weekend as well as the amount of soaps and shampoos. When we asked for a new roll of toilet paper they brought us an already opened and half way used roll. They are in the business of customer service however the whole time they were not making us feel welcomed or accomodating our stay. They made us feel like we were intruding. When we asked for ice we received zip lock bags of 4 ice cubes and when we asked for more the next night and they told us we used our limit. Not to mention the cleanliness of the room. The mattress and the carpets were disgusting. Stains on the mattresses and comforters would make you think the new owners didn't make any changes to fix the problems that were under the old management. The hotel couldn't be in a better location it is just too bad that it has to be in those conditions.

Review 84:No meat. The only non-vegitable protein is 2% fat milk. The roads and even walkways were all covered with ice during our stay.

Review 85:The good thing is that there are two waffle machines and the room is clean.

Review 86:The Wifi was pretty slow. The actual decor was a bit drab. Looks like the place was a former senior citizen home converted to a hotel. But it's ok for the price.

Review 87:I liked that location off of the main Access road. It was very clean. The king size bed was awesome and comfortable!

Review 88:Breakfast

Review 89:Nice and clean room with refrigerator and microwave oven, not overpriced like everything in Killington. Very close to K1 and Skyship gondolas.

Review 90:Way over priced for what we got. The building is run down and the staff don't care. While I was in line at the desk another guest was asking about prescription meds that disappeared from the room and someone else's meds were in their place and the manager's reply was "That's not our problem." Definitely not worth the $200+ I paid each night.

Review 91:Close to the ski hill.

Review 92:Breakfast is good, clean, and expected. Not Great. Would like to get eggs every other day.

Review 93:Convenience, well maintained, exactly as described and expected, no surprises.

Review 94:Computer made a double booking..Owner was unaccomidating to offer refund or return credit even thou hotel was not fully booked. Free Breakfast...yuck.Carbs, Carbs, and more Carbs...Owners wife followed you around making sure you used only 1 small Dixie cup of waffle batter and made it clear you couldn't add more to the cup...Pointed to the trash can and rudely told our kids to put cups on counter in trash. Requested late check out, which we paid for, and when we got back to the room, owner called the room seconds after we returned and was completely discourteous and told us we needed to check out NOW! Parking was a joke. Snow pile in parking spaces leaving no room for cars to maneuver. No elevators...3rd floor room with ski equipment and luggage was a struggle.

Review 95:Not Much

Review 96:Woman from hotel, owners wife or sister, followed patrons as they made their breakfast, making comments about how they were only allowed 1 small dixy cup of waffle batter and rudely telling children where the trash was...Breakfast was a choice of Carbs, Carbs, Carbs, and more Carbs.....Our room was located on the 3rd floor...No elevators, this is a challenge with ski gear and luggage...Granted there was a lot of snow, but the parking lot was a mess...Parking was horrendous.

Review 97:Rooms were clean

Review 98:- A lot of mechanical noises at night. - Very limited breakfast selection. - Tube TV. - No Wifi. - No control of thermostat in room.

Review 99:- Proximity to Killington. - Clean updated room.

Review 100:for the winter, air was too cold. Also, the coffee maker was dirty. the parking spot was not plowed for customers to park and too much buildup of snow.

Review 101:room service was good. Rooms kept clean, bed well made.

Review 102:We had to cancel our trip from Boston due to Blizzard warning and poor road conditions. The staff showed no mercy and did not accept to modify the booking for another day. We had to pay the full price, whereas I was willing to come back the week-after! RIDICULOUS

Review 103:The breakfast was a lot better the first time we visited, 2 years ago, so I was very disappointed. Very limited selection of cereals and breads and I couldn't microwave the instant oatmeal because the plastic bowls would contaminate the food if I put them in the microwave.

Review 104:The location is great for skiers: very close to Pico Mt. and Killington.

Review 105:Room and bed smelled like cigarettes even though it was non smoking When we opened refrigerator there was a rank stench Staff wasn't the friendliest

Review 106:Close to mountain and restaurants

Review 107:some of the staff were unfriendly and not accomadating.

Review 108:price was good and arrangement, of bathroom facilities excellent. a good value for the money.

Review 109:Parking was tough and tight. Cars were blocking exit cause they would get stuck on hill in snow. Drive 4x4 vehicles here in winter everybody!

Review 110:Perfect place to go back to and sleep. Price was good. Small breakfast was a bonus.

Review 111:I have never written a review before but figured I had to on this place. I checked in to a room with two queen beds, second floor. The exterior stairs going up to the second floor were chipped and very poorly maintained. Walked into the room and saw a tear on one comforter and a gross stain on the other. The shower was fine for water temp, pressure was ok, but the thing was small gross and had a shower head that should have been replaced years ago. I dropped a battery one night and it rolled under the night stand, I reached under to get it and pulled out someones moldy pizza crust. I opened the pantry and found a knife with peanut butter and bugs stuck in it. The breakfast includes cereal Milk and OJ if you get there early enough, one type of cereal with no fruit avaiable...after a 5 night stay I checked out 1 night early and started my long journey home. I had a missed call from Hillside Inn when I got home which stated they had to do extra cleaning on the room and charged my credit card $50!!! This is the most disgusting hotel I have ever been in. One of the furthest from Killington (I was there to ski with my son). Also walls that are paper thin, with a college age clientele that stay up to 2 am.

Review 112:Not much to like here. Nothing I can think of, that's just sad.

Review 113:The parking was terrible. We had to walk with all our gear pretty far to get to our room. They should give out parking passes or something. It was a real issue. The man at the front desk was very nice but the woman was downright unfriendly and rude. I would stay there again, but would bring my own comforter and pillow the beds are awful and gross bed spreads. But frankly, most places around there are like that.

Review 114:Location to mountain was great. It was clean. You can bring a pet.

Review 115:Barely any parking and tons of guests. The breakfast was pure carbs-just waffles, cereal, bread.

Review 116:The price. The room was bare bones but still a good value with a small kitchenette (no utensils, dishes, etc, provided.)

Review 117:Fuzzy blanket on bed not the best when contacting the skin. Didn't exactly cause a rash but did cause discomfort when laying directly on it. Was hoping to plug laptop into TV via HDMI but TV did not contain an HDMI port.

Review 118:Great location, equidistant from killington and pico. Surrounded by a plethora of quality restaurants.

Review 119:...small dog (boston terrier) cost $20/night (not mentioned on booking.com). Refused to allow late checkout (10:30am on a Monday - they wouldn't stretch it to noon even after a 3 day stay).

Review 120:They take pets...

Review 121:Saturday night seemed like party night. I considered calling the front desk a number of times because of loud guests above us- they finally went to sleep. Parking limited because of partiers.... Management allowed me to park in handicapped spot because of it.

Review 122:Spacious bathroom, good rates, window that opens.

Review 123:Woman at desk was rude, Can't cancel a room if you go through booking.com, need at get there before 11 to check in or the door to the front desk is locked

Review 124:Free wifi Free breakfast

Review 125:The staff l looked like they hated their job. During breakfast they kept running out of things and staff had to be told.

Review 126:I liked every thing except the staff.

Review 127:Didn't feel homey. Very cold welcome. Not very accommodating. Terrible morning coffee. Receptionist not friendly at all and if she doesn't like her job she shouldn't be working there at all. Wi-Fi service not great. Water was dirty one night.

Review 128:Close to slopes

Review 129:Dirty everything. Charged for more than I booked online. Got stuck in the parking lot because the owner didn't call a plow until 11am. Do not stay at this hotel!

Review 130:Breakfast a bit hectic, but we were there at a busy ski weekend. Walls maybe a bit thin but didn't disturb us.

Review 131:Large room. Good facilities: fridge, microwave, kitchen area, storage, coffee making, wifi, toileteries. Everything as it should be.

Review 132:housekeeping tried cleaning room at 8:30 and 10 - then said they wouldn't clean. the next day we had do not disturb out till left at 930 and chgd to "maid service" =when we got back at 6 room wasn't cleaned - DON'T plan on breakfast - not much there - nice waffles could be had but no mix in machine, no break or bagels for toast -

Review 133:room was really nice and a really good value

Review 134:"Bathroom" set up was a little awkward...the shower room did have a door, just a cutrain. The room was a little small, glad we only had to stay one night. Probably wouldnt stay there again..

Review 135:Cheap rates...

Review 136:The bed linen smelt very strongly of a fragrant bleach like Febreze Clorox. So much of which had been used that I woke in the night with my skin burning like I had been in a pool that had had too much chlorine added. Also the extractor fans in both shower area and toilet did not work. The toilet bowl was loose and wobbled when you sat on it. I brought all these things to the attention of the Asian gentleman behind reception but I do not believe he understood a word I said. I believe that this gentleman was either the owner or the manager.

Review 137:Room was clean and fairly well furnished for the price range

Review 138:Expensive rate for weekend, breakfast options are limited, very small breakfast room got over crowded with people in the morning

Review 139:Decent location about 5 miles from Mt. Killington, not many options nearby for dinner though during long weekend, most restaurants are crowded. We requested a ground level room which was available and helped us, parking area is big but long weekend gets over crowded.
