Reviews for Casa Dona Antonia - Turismo Rural em Monsaraz
Review 1:We had a smell in our room, which wasn't very pleasant, due to the old furniture. The closet in the room smelled so strange, that we didn't want to put our clothes in it.
Review 2:The owner was very friendly and knew a lot about the region. Great homemade jam. Great view from our room and terrace.
Review 3:Very nice place to stay in the middle of Monsaraz with a fantastic view over the landscape. Very good breakfast in the patio. The house is very cosy and typical.
Review 4:being welcomed with a voucher to go to a winery as soon as you step in. (to get 6% of the most expensive one in the city) the jacuzzi is 12,50€ per person for less than an hour. Breakfast is quite small, on slice of ham, one of cheese, industrial orange juice, and 2 pieces of bread... I know you need to make a living but money is the main thing here...
Review 5:Great view from the room, well situated in the old city. Clean room and bathroom
Review 6:The bell tower rings every hour and twice, even thru the night. The locals might have gotten used to it, but it might be a good idea for the town to consider shutting the bell down for the night.
Review 7:The owner Filipe was very hospitable and welcoming. He certainly made our stay very enjoyable.
Review 8:Great breakfast, in the courtyard.Fantastic view from the Terrace. Temps reached 43c during our stay, but we still had a good sleep in this comfortable residence.an
Review 9:Reception only spoke Portuguese, advertised a Jacuzzi but it was not operating when we were there and looked like it was not for a while
Review 10:Centrally located beautiful view from the top of the rooms over the valley below
Review 11:The view was amazing, the jacuzzi was a bonus (although you have to pay extra to use it) and the staff were helpful and friendly. The location was perfect and room was lovely with windows opening out to the view of surrounding countryside.
Review 12:The person who greeted us on arrival (because the owner was away) was a bit surly and didn't speak any English.
Review 13:The guest house is well placed in the village and has great views.
Review 14:We had rooms 6 & 7 with lovely views. It was cold, windy and wet (in June) so we didn't make use of the terrace or the jacuzzi. Rooms were spacious with good bathrooms. Great location on the centre of the old town.
Review 15:Showed up on Saturday no one was there. I had to pay an extra 50€ on top of everything on check out.
Review 16:The surrounding area is very beautiful and unique.
Review 17:nada
Review 18:Fomos recebidos pela Senhora Esmeralda que nos proporcionou uma estadia maravilhosa! Muito obrigada! O café da manhã é excelente, assim como a localização. Alguns quartos tem uma vista espetacular!
Review 19:Everything!! The proprietor excels at customer service. Went over and above. Our room was comfortable decorated with lovely antiques. The roof top terrace offers amazing views. Nice breakfast served in the courtyard surrounded by flowers, lemon and orange trees.
Review 20:Can't think of anything.
Review 21:Relaxing on the terrace overlooking the countryside. Walking the town. Dinner at the Taverna while watching a rainstorm produce the brightest double rainbow ever.
Review 22:We were disappointed we couldn't use the jacuzzi as it was the best located one we have ever seen.
Review 23:Monsaraz is a fabulous town which caught us by surprise and this is a boutique hotel right in the middle of it with great view and even parking! Terrace on the roof. There was a fantastic looking hot jacuzzi with the best views in the world but unfortunately it was covered over and not available. We ate at Lumumba's across the street which was lovely and stocked up on Monsaraz reserve red wine. We wish we were there now. A very unique little village not to be missed.
Review 24:The city bells rang at night, but this is not a problem of this particular acommodation, any accomodation in the city would have same issue. Earplugs would solve it easily though.
Review 25:The Staff ( since it is family bussines so the family) are very helpful, and friendly. The interior is lively and the breakfast is very very delicious. Basicaly you can feel like at home. In the end the stay was very pleasant and something to remember. Would definately recoment it.
Review 26:Wasn't sure on the parking arrangements when we first arrived. You can drive inside walled city to unload your bags from your vehicle, but cannot park inside the village till after 6. Driving and parking on the streets was, well interesting....but not a biggy.
Review 27:Friendliness of the host was excellent and would try to help you with anything you needed. The view off the terrace while enjoying a bottle of local wine is not to be missed. Small artistic shops are scattered thru out the streets and we enjoyed everything the evening we stayed.
Review 28:Nothing.
Review 29:Perfect location! Although our room was a little bit small, public balcony was really comfortable and the view of sunset was amazing! The owner and his family was so friendly and kind. Our departure was early in the morning, they had prepared special breakfast.
Review 30:The location of this hotel is exeeding any expectations - you stay just in the middle of the history. It is located in the ancient town of Monseraz, surrounded by ancient walls and located at the hill-top. Stunning view from the walls on surrounding landscapes. The town itself is just a living history - as if you suddenly find yourself back the the middle centuries. Very friendly personnel. Very good breakfast. The stay in Monseraz is just the MUST if you want to see Portugal - put it in your agenda and make sure you stay at Casa D'Antonia - you will not regret it!
Review 31:Breakfast was a bit miserly when previous reviews promised far more. Also the advertised hot-tub wasn't in use.
Review 32:Location, character and charm of the house, cleanliness and comfort
Review 33:Being 1,87 m tall in a castle house is too much...
Review 34:Great service, excellent "ambiance". Magic.
Review 35:extremely quite place!
Review 36:Warm welcome, clean room, views fantastic, just right amount of help with locale
Review 37:small bathroom and hard bed
Review 38:central location, views from balcony
Review 39:room small for a family of four....but we had only to sleep one night.
Review 40:location hydro pool the view from the terrace
Review 41:the location
Review 42:Nothing at all
Review 43:The room, the panoramic view, the terrasse, the lemon and orange trees outside our room, the owner were all fabulous
Review 44:Perfectly located, great view, lovely breakfast, very friendly, very easy to park free. Beautiful town.
Review 45:Wonderful location, very friendly owners/staff, great place to relax on the terrace with a bottle of wine under the citrus trees. There was a hot tub being installed with an awesome view!
Review 46:Unfortunately during our stay wi-fi was available only in lounge area, not in rooms. Breakfast seems to be a little bit small though tasty.
Review 47:Small family hotel under the guidance of the very nice owner, appartments are cituated in separate small houses on the courtyard. Perfect view on the valley, designed rooms and clean bedclothes. Really nice. It seems to have jakuzzi :)
Review 48:What a wonderful place to stay in! The house owner is extra-ordinary friendly, the breakfast with fresh orange juice prepared with love, the terrace wih an amazing view a dream! We felt like in a fairy-tale!
Review 49:I was not able to pay with credit card as the owner had left home when I got up in the morning.
Review 50:The location. It is perfect place to see this place. The hotel has a terrace which has excellent views over the countryside. It is very clean, comfortable. The owner speaks English.
Review 51:The soundproofing is terrible, we could hear every sound from the other rooms. Our room was very small, the bed was too hard. Our friend was given a room with private external bathroom, which was inconvenient at all. The breakfast was very poor (1 piece of cheese, 1 piece of ham, 1 piece of cake, few toasts for 5 euro!) and was served at 9a.m. instead of 8:30. We'd prefer to make a day trip to Monsaraz than to stay there overnight.
Review 52:The location is perfect, if you decide to stay overnight in Monsaraz. The view from the terrace is great.
Review 53:The bed was rock hard and neither of us slept very well. Breakfast seemed a bit stingy, just a piece of cake and a slice of toast. I asked for more toast and this was no problem so don't be shy about asking for more.
Review 54:The courtyard complex of rooms looks very attractive and the rooftop terrace has amazing views.
Review 55:They can't accept credit card. It was bit inconvenient, but it is tiny thing.
Review 56:View of landscape from our room was fantastic. We stayed new room. It is independent from other room. Owner of this hotel is extremely friendly and so kind. Breakfast at the outdoor is so good atomohere. We like this hotel and hope we will come back.
Review 57:nice stay in a breathtaking little village. Make sure to also go to the restaurant of the hotelowner. It's an excellent restaurant. Streetnr. 22, right opposite the hotel. Excellent wines and meals.
Review 58:We did not like to hear the tower's bell ringing every hour during the night. Well, the bell is heard throughout the whole Monsaraz and not just in the house of D. Antonia!
Review 59:We enjoyed mostly the house's hospitality, carried by Mrs. Emeralda, the magnificent view we had access through the window of our room and the relaxed friendly atmosphere at breakfast.
Review 60:Very chilly place, damp room and bed also, slate floors veryunwelcoming. Poor breakfast, just very hard toast and pasteurised juice.Very sparse.
Review 61:Not very much apart from view
Review 62:It was just a little tricky driving and finding the right road to leave the village.
Review 63:Staying at Casa D. Antonia was like stepping back in time with all the luxuries of today. It is located on a mountain top medieval village with stunning views. The room was wonderful, bathroom completely updated, a terrace with a view and a great breakfast.
Review 64:I loved everything!
Review 65:The location of Casa D. Antónia is unbeatable and the views from the terrace are breathtaking; I could have sat up there all day! The staff is very kind and hospitable. The patio is full of lemon and orange trees and decorated very nicely with things from rural Alentejo. This house is in a beautiful setting with views overlooking the countryside. I would return without hesitation. Internet is very fast and parking is not a problem.
