Reviews for Suansawan Resort Chiang Mai

Review 1:the bathroom certainly did not have the wow factor. The extractor fan was broken, the sealing around the edge of the bath was very shoddy and the shower leaked everywhere. Definitely in need of a bit of TLC and Maintenance in this room. Oh, and the security safe was locked and could not be used.

Review 2:The resort itself is set in the heart of Mai Rim. Our 1st impressions were very positive. On arrival the staff were very pleasant and friendly. Our luggage was transported very quickly to our room. 1st impressions of the room definitely had the wow factor.

Review 3:First of all the location is Terrible and unless you are willing to pay for many taxis or have you own transport you will be stuck. They fail to mention that there is a care home on site, mixed in with the resort, they are not seperate in anyway and you will be sharing the resort with not only the elderly that reside at the care home but the nurses that look after them! Our room had no hot water and a toilet that flooded the bathroom so was very unpleasant, we gave the resort the opportunity to fix the leak and the shower and after being out all day we only returned to find they had done nothing and at this price I do expect to have a hot shower! To top off our dream stay the bikes they offer for use are not only unuseable but really dangerous, the handle bars are bent meaning control was impossible, the chain rusted and no brakes! And that goes for all five bikes they offer! Why they offer such dangerous bikes is beyond me and they should just take them away, the lady on reception even admitted to us she would not put her kids on the bikes they offer! All in all for what you pay there are far better resorts in the area and even better ones in and around Chiang Mai. This resort is old and out dated with a serious need of restoration and major TLC to be brought into the present! Staying here not only made me feel completely ripped off but left a bitter taste In my mouth about how they dealt with everything!

Review 4:Air-conditioners definitely need cleaning and repair! Ceiling dripped water one night during heavy rain! Air-conditioners went dead for several hours after thunder struck hotel's switch box at a hot night.

Review 5:Very spacious rooms and garden. Employees are friendly and helpful. Close to Tiger Kingdom and Maesa Elephant Camp. Very quiet and peaceful.

Review 6:Don't use the water in plastic bottles from the minibar. They will be charged at 90 bath.

Review 7:We had a two bed room, two bath room villa, which was very spacious and beautifully furnished. It was not perfectly maintained but this did not bother us or change our general opinion. It was a great place to relax after overcrowded Chiang Mai. It was very quiet. The premises are very well maintained. There are two nice pools. The breakfast was very good. The restaurant serves great food (not very cheap but in large quantities.

Review 8:Fact we did bring our driving licence to explore area more! (Despite this..We will go back).

Review 9:Amazing pools! Garden areas, Mountain Views & remote yet Beautiful location.Superb menu! Great to unwind for few days prior to the going to busy inner city!

Review 10:Nice restaurant but extremely long wait for meal on one of our 2 nights. Gluten free bread and soya milk would have been nice - maybe needed anyway for your guests receiving specific care?? Worst thing without doubt the children playground, uncared for & actually unsafe in parts. Ironically it was the one thing that took us to this hotel as so few provide them. No wifi in room.

Review 11:Lovely setting & gardens, nice pools. Impressed with cleanliness, comfort and modernity of standard rooms. V good breakfast. V good standard overall for price.

Review 12:Nothing.

Review 13:Hotel is located on the way to Mae Sa waterfall. Big and beautiful territory, quiet. Peronnel speaks English very well. Breakfast is perfect. Very relaxing atmosphere.

Review 14:Need to hire my own transport to get around.

Review 15:-The serenity of the resort. -Generally a clean and well maintained place. -Good service. -A safe place to stay in.

Review 16:hardly anything I didn't like here..mayb I am simple but I really enjoyed my stay here.

Review 17:the serenity of the place..nice staff and adequate facilities..and very relaxing. the place is well maintained.

Review 18:I liked everything about it. But it's important to know, that the resort is about 30km outside of chiang mai and you really need your own transport, otherwise you are stuck.

Review 19:Wonderful, pretty and clean rooms. Very large and good furniture. DVD rental, fishing gear, billiard, all for free. Very pretty resort. Breakfast ok, typical american and thai style. Very good location to do trips to Tiger Kingdom, elephant poopoo paper park, waterfalls, mountains.

Review 20:The hot tap didn't work well.

Review 21:most of all.

Review 22:The relaxed atmosphere. The beautiful grounds

Review 23:A lot of mosquito ...terrible solving problem..no good quality service

Review 24:Staff was not helpful.

Review 25:ambiance was nice quiet location food was good

Review 26:Before we check in reception told us breakie severe until 12.00 but we came out around 10.30 breakie already done :(

Review 27:Older facilites

Review 28:Beautiful location

Review 29:Close to most of the cool stuff

Review 30:Lovely grounds and walks

Review 31:Did not provide enough information on the facilities

Review 32:Nice and serene landscape Very near to X Centre and all the activities in Mae Rim area

Review 33:Beautiful site. The whole set up is very luxurious. Excellent value for money.

Review 34:The bungalows are old and run down. They often smell like 50 year old apartments with mold (it is a very old resort after all). The plumbing is in very poor condition. Water was sometimes yellow, hot water did not work right. The air conditioners do not all work well. Ants, mosquitoes and knats also are a definite problem. This place has a lot of potential if and when the renovations of the bungalows is completed.

Review 35:Beautiful landscaped gardens with a lake and paved paths throughout the resort. Incredibly peaceful mountain setting. Spa treatments were great, but a bit overpriced for the condition of the facilities. The resort is also very close to a few very important sites such as the Hilltribe Village, Botanic Gardens, Zoo, and Wat Phrao That Doi Suthep. There are also fabulous mountain restaurants nearby.

Review 36:The bathroom water is too small and ther's even 1 nite that we dont have warm water. Is too far and is okay if you plan to stay at hotel and not going out

Review 37:The trees, the quiet and the surrounding environment

Review 38:Changing ownership. Terrible management!!!! Breakfast was always "out of stock". Took 2 days to get hot water in the shower. Do not stay here until they get it together.

Review 39:The staff was great. The grounds were beautiful.

Review 40:We had booked a villa with a hot tub, the hot tub was large but one problem was the lack of hot water which made it impossible to have a hot bath. The villa could do with refurbishment including LCD TVs. WIFI was OK but far from perfect. The hotel offers a rather limited Ala Carte menu and the restaurant and bar lacks any atmosphere.

Review 41:The grounds and setting of this resort are really pretty and as they look on the website. Our daughter loved the free pedal boat on the small lake. The "Away" is well situated for all the activities that Mae Rim have to offer. Bungalows are large in size, offer good light and have large terrace. Breakfast selection was OK with a choice of either western or Thai breakfast

Review 42:The hotel is located far from the noise of the city, it is perfect for relaxing. The staff is very nice, the breakfast is good. Alot of nice thing to see around if you have a car.

Review 43:We stayed there for 2 nights. We were disappointed with the following: - the foot of the bed under the comforter was scattered with human hair and hair from the personal parts of the body, suggesting that the bed was not even cleaned after the last guests checked out - this was disgusting especially when we had slept on it the first night and we only discovered this the next morning when we turned the comforter; there were lots of hair indeed! - when we returned later in the evening after a day's excursion (on the second day), the bed was done up but the hair were still there at the foot of the bed under the comforter- suggesting again that all the staff did was to straighten out the bed sheet and then toss the comforter over. We then asked the staff to come over to take a look and change the sheet (they were apologetic) but when we also asked them to change the comforter, there was some reluctance initially adding that it was changed earlier in the morning (see below) - the comforter was stained and we only discovered this when we asked the staff to change the bed sheets and the comforter cover after discovering the hair; - the shower head could not be held up by the shower holder; so it turned out to be a hand held shower head instead - we made do with this as it was a minor inconvenience, as with the DVD issue

Review 44:The staff was friendly and tried to help as much as they possibly can, despite their challenge with the English Language. They recommended places for us to visit and how we could get there. For this, they scored high on their efforts to try and help. The place is quiet and therefore ideal for relaxation, which we appreciated very much. The free loan of DVDs was a good gesture indeed though 2 of the 4 pieces we borrowed "hung" during playback - again a small inconvenience.

Review 45:Breakfast was too expensive and not that fresh, food was edible. You're better off going to 7/11 just a few kilometers.

Review 46:Clean room, relaxing view of the mountains. Peaceful. Staff was nice.

Review 47:I stayed at Away Suansawan Chiang Mai for three nights and the experience was excellent. The staff were very friendly and any requests were answered quickly. I left an item behind when I left and through emails, Away Suansawan Chiang Mai sent the item next destination hotel! Very relaxing atmosphere for those who are looking for quietness.

Review 48:dirty room.pillow smelling very bad.breakfast poor.absolutely is not a 4 stars hotel.hard to believe that it's a Centara' hotels group

Review 49:free wifi in the room and very good internet connection.

Review 50:40 minutes drive from downtown and at nights to much insects and lizards

Review 51:facilities, not crowded, good food quality and cheep at same time. attractions are very close like snake show, waterfalls, elephant camp, orchid garden

Review 52:If i have to say something negative, it would be its location. Its a bit far from town, about 45 minutes by car(if traffic isn't bad). But this could be a possitive thing too if you wanna avoid the busy city of chiang mai.

Review 53:Beautifull resort! It has everything you wish for. Wonderfull staff, very friendly and helpfull. We were staying for just 4 days and absolutly loved it!

Review 54:This resort is a bit out of town, but if you don't mind taking a taxi or rental car, this is a wonderful place to relax and stay with absolutely no interruptions.

Review 55:Working for make new restaurant/ noisy No upgrade/ no gift People do the job. Not more

Review 56:Quiet

Review 57:A standard room as in a small house with twin room is not clean, lot of small insects and mosquitoes. and hot water not stable

Review 58:In the cool month of January the hot water was not hot enough.

Review 59:Good value for money, nice staff, nice landscaping.

Review 60:Quiet, comfortable and in walking distance to the center

Review 61:It is very dirty,

Review 62:It is located in the middle of the jungle
