Reviews for La Vita é Bella
Review 1:There was no hot water, but if you're going to Tulum, you should be aware that it's pretty rustic and this comes with the territory.
Review 2:The beach/ocean was literally right outside our door.
Review 3:staff were very unfriendly and seemed very unhappy. service in the restaurant was slow. the eco cabin was even more basic than it appeared and minuscule - no room to unpack or move around at all!! The price simply wasn't justified!!
Review 4:Beautiful location
Review 5:Its an ok but hotel. The rooms are really cute with a grass roof, but there is no AC in the economy room (something I only figured out during my stay, as on the homepage it said AC under "general", so I assumed that all the rooms have AC). When I complained, the manager refused to give us a good deal on a room upgrade although the hotel was not fully booked. Even in winter the room was so hot inside that we had to sleep with the door and the window open (and still it was hot). I usually like it hot but an AC would really be an investment here. By the way, in the middle of one night a guy came by our room with a flashlight and tried to enter the room. We only had the fly screen door locked, and I was really scared waking up like this in the middle of the night. No idea who this guy was (maybe security, but why would he then try to enter the room??), but fortunately the other nights were quiet. There was tons of seaweed on the beach (in some areas it was impossible to get to the water because the piles were too high). Although we saw some people removing some seaweed one morning, it was by far not enough to make the water more accessible. Be prepared to pay the room in cash/to have a lot of patience when paying with credit card because apparently the connection is very patchy (manager said this is a general problem of the area). Although the homepage said "free Wifi" the manager said its not possible to connect with Samsung phones, only with iphone.
Review 6:great location, close to Tulum Maya Ruins. Ok breakfast, one has four different choices. Very quiet at night, sound of waves and palms.
Review 7:Many little things are going wrong which are not acceptable given the prices (rooms between 200 and 400 usd): forgot to put water and towels in the room, fan that is too noisy, room equipments does not worth the price, waiters always running after tips, shortage of food, changes in opening hours of the restaurant without telling...
Review 8:The situation of the hotel is great, on the fantastic tulum beach and close to the archeological site. The food of the restaurant is very good
Review 9:The rooms could use a bit of an update as could the beach chairs. And the food is overall just bad. Breakfast is ok. But the basics like guacamole were just gross.
Review 10:Location is great. Beach is beautiful and although it's a little outside of the heart of the beachfront tulum, we thought that was kind of nice and more mellow. The staff is great, especially Aldo. He goes out of his way to make the experience a great one.
Review 11:The hotel is grossly overpriced relative to the conveniences offered. The ubiquitous sand is a nuissance, and the food in the restaurant is only average.
Review 12:The location is very good. The cleanliness of the beach is tolerable.
Review 13:None
Review 14:Location excellent, right on beach, walking distance along beach to Tulum Maya site. Staff very good and helpful. Accommodation simple but very good. Would return.
Review 15:We were tired and stressed by the time we arrived, we found out that the suite we rented was too small for our kids. Aldo recommended a lager suite and it was the best decision. Aldo was professional and cared for our comfort, he was great! We also enjoyed all the servers at the restaurant, the maid was awesome and staff in general. We will recommend this place and will be back when possible. THANK YOU
Review 16:Our bungalow was very small and not so clean, the bed not comfortable. The price was definetely too high for that kind of accomodation.
Review 17:The position, the staff, the breakfast and the restaurant. The beach was ok.
Review 18:We loved our bungalow (number 1) as it was super secluded and we enjoyed a lot of privacy on the beach. Also this is the nicest beach in Tulum in our opinion. Our housekeeper Griselda always put an extra smile on our face with her towel figures. She came by every day and was very tidy and nice.
Review 19:Overpriced for what it is. For the same value you can be in a nicer, newer, better place on the beach. The lowest option was tiny, bare, stuffy, and close to one hundred and fifty dollars. We stayed 2 *weeknights* before the weekend. Property was ~50% or less occupied during our entire stay (from observing restaurant, lights on each of the cabana that we walked through at any point during the day, or any signs of life/occupancy). Anyways, even with this occupancy level, the price was already at high season, and without allowing us to upgrade without charge to a higher class room. I think because this place is mentioned in both lonely planet and Fodors guide book, they do not care about certain levels of customer service. They will get customers anyways. Staff at the restaurant was nice, but careful of surcharge they add for sitting at the table, versus 2-3 steps down "at the beach". With all the newer properties and options, rooms here should not start at close to one hundred fifty USD for the most basic of rooms. For the weekend, we stayed at another hotel down the road for a little more than ten dollars more per night for better newer rooms, twice the space and much better amenities/experience.
Review 20:Hotel was right On the beach, pasta at restaurant was good, sand on your toes from the reception onward.
Review 21:The rooms are rustic. We stayed in a junior suite which is a little misleading - it's really a simple dark adobe room with a thatched ceiling. You definitely feel close to nature without the low price of camping. It's not the sort of place where you can unpack your case and settle in - more like posh camping. I guess the room prices reflect the beach location rather than the accommodation quality. Prices here were about two thirds more than Tulum town and accommodation less comfortable. Some people may not mind the rustic feel and embrace it!
Review 22:One of the best beaches on the Tulum stretch. You're on the ruins side and can stroll along the beach to take a look at them. The beach doesn't seem to get the bigger waves that we saw further down the coast making it ideal for swimming. The area isn't built up and so is really quite idyllic. No problem at all with seaweed on this stretch whilst we were there. Sitting having breakfast on the beach in the morning is quite idyllic. The lobster pizza was great! A few good restaurants nearby so that you don't feel too isolated on this quieter stretch of Tulyum coast - The Kitchen Table, Mezzanine (thai food) and also Playa Condessa Cabanas for cheap lunch fish tacos. All in all a great location. If you want to visit the busier bits of the beach further South it's good to get a bike.
Review 23:The privacy of the cabana was great. Walked right out the door of my cabana & was on the beach. Air conditioning was a big plus. The ocean lulled me to sleep in the hammock on the porch & at night. The staff was friendly & helpful (non-spanish speaker)
Review 24:Very expensive for what it is!! A shame Junior suite is far from being what they pretend Small cucarrachas in room and not really clean Junior> no air conditioning! Upgrade crazy expensiveVery expensive for what it is!! Restaurants slow service expensive no customer care looking only for tips
Review 25:on the beach
Review 26:The hotel staff service was awful: on the first night we were poisoned in the hotel restaurant (we didn't go out and eat any other food), which caused emergency hospital visit and expensive medication. The restaurant staff in general didn't speak good English, sometimes ignored or misunderstood us and was not friendly (asked us several times to change the sun beds but didn't explain why, tried to over-charge us for the dishes we didn't order). During two mornings around 9.00 am we were woken up by the loud roar of waste collection truck just outside our room. Serious improvement of staff is highly recommended!
Review 27:The hotel location and territory is great, inside the Tulum National Park and surrounded by jungles, with direct access to the beach. Our lux room had a big terrace and partly sea view.
Review 28:Having a cabana right by the beach and hearing the waves at night and having sun loungers right by the cabana and the delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner by the sea.
Review 29:Restaurant service can be slow. Lots if seaweed but not much you can do about that.
Review 30:Great staff. Always taking care of the place and keeping it tidy. Loved the restaurant.
Review 31:Mattress had some dead bugs in it's edges. Mattress was uncomfortable to him but not her. We had to leave at the end of our stay.
Review 32:The bungalow was roomy. We were very pleased with the peace and solitude that were available. The restaurant was great! We did watch part of a MLB playoff game in the restaurant. Everything is such that if you wanted to be online with the world you could, but you had to break away from the peacefulness and relaxation to do so. Location was perfect.
Review 33:The economic bungalows where I stay was really, literally small and the humidity very high.
Review 34:The beach is great, close from tulum ruins, food is great, breakfast perfect, staff is friendly.
Review 35:Some broken things in our cabin (like the door) but this was nog a big deal.
Review 36:Super location on the beach and walking distance of the tulum ruins. Really nice breakfast
Review 37:- wifi available in the restaurant/major entrance, not in the rooms - no airconditioning in standard rooms
Review 38:- location: very quiet, peaceful and natural atmosphere - friendly staff - good restaurant at ok prices - close to the ruins
Review 39:Just the seaweed
Review 40:I absolutely loved everything! The food was amazing, the seafood pizza, the fish, lobster, octopus, ceviche, all! It was amazing and especially their guacamole, it was so tasteful! The beach was beautiful, a bit of seaweed but i think that's just down to the season. It was really relaxing, I went with my boyfriend who then proposed to me outdoors by the beach at sunset, making it even more magical, you could see the reflection of the moon every night shining on the Caribbean Sea. Also, we managed to see the turtles hatching! It was so adorable! I loved everything, and especially that we had our own private cabana and that as soon as you step out you're walking on sand everywhere. I was worried at first that the location may have been too quiet as we usually like partying but I have to say it was amazing. The staff are amazing too!
Review 41:Although the cabin itself was very clean, due to the fact that you are located at the beach you will find bugs etcetera inside of the cabin. So be prepared for that.
Review 42:The location is great, the beach is at your doorstep and the area with all the restaurants is only a 5 min drive. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
Review 43:Im pretty sure my credit card was cloned by the receptionist as when trying to pay there were issues with the machine and they went to the back with my card. Didn't use that card for the rest of my trip. Came back home with £750 of unrecognised transactions on that card
Review 44:Location
Review 45:I loved being able to walk right onto the beach. Sitting having breakfast watching the waves and feeling the sands between my toes. The staff were friendly and accommodating. There were a few restaurants up and down the beach and the town was only a 5 minute drive away.
Review 46:No wifi. No A/C in the standard rooms. Uncomfortable bed. No phone so you have to go to the reception whenever you need something. Way too expensive compared to what you get
Review 47:Good location, awesome view, sand all over
Review 48:but the room did'nt have an air conditional and it was so warm. the fan did'nt work very well and we sufered with the hot time. and we didin't like the breakfast as the food in general.
Review 49:the place is so nice and it was so good to in front of the sea.
Review 50:The wifi doesn't work well unless you are near the restaurant, but it's a great opportunity to unplug and get away.
Review 51:We stayed for 4 night in Cabana #4, which is just steps away from the ocean. The staff was absolutely wonderful; they made us feel welcome and provided top-notch service. The grounds, room and beach were very clean and felt safe. We would love to return and would definitely recommend to friends & family,
Review 52:The hut we stayed in the first two nights. We saw a mouse on our balcony and heard it at night. We also didn't have running water our first morning there, and the electricity went out our second night for one hour. They moved us to a much better room and the rest of our stay was wonderful until our check out. The male receptionists were very attentive, but the female one just didn't seem to understand customer service. I was in a rush to check out and get a cab to the bus station to get to the airport. She was saying her credit card machine was down, and asked me to walk down to a different hotel to take out cash. She already had a card scanned on file, that could have been charged after we left, and she was bugging me to pay while I was trying to catch a bus. Very bad customer service, but she went to the restaurant and was able to run my card finally. They just need to train people better, but ultimately everything worked out well.
Review 53:The resort itself, and the beach. The restaurant is very good as well.
Review 54:Great beach! Friendly staff. Nice and quiet most of the time. Off the beaten track of the busiest tourist part of Tulum. The bungalows are very basic and you will be sandy 24/7, so you need to be okay with that!
Review 55:Une plage remplie d algue et jamais nettoyée. Aucuns services Un prix fort pour une qualité moindre, on a trouvé mieu dans des auberge de jeunesse...
Review 56:L'emplacement....
Review 57:WiFi was slow.
Review 58:Loved being able to step straight out onto the sand every morning. Great location a few km from the main drag of Tulum Beach. Friendly staff and good breakfasts. Enjoyed the seafood pasta in the restaurant!
Review 59:The receptionist was not very helpful. The service outside of the restaurant was not great. They had no information on renting bikes, yoga, cenotes, ect. They were right by a computer, I wish they made more of an effort to be helpful. To do anything you must take a cab. The location wasn't ideal for going out to dinner and we took cabs into the actual beach area of Tulum daily. I would definitely recommend staying closer to the beach area that has more going on. We didn't try eating the food at the hotel other than breakfast.
Review 60:I really liked the staff in the restaurant and that the breakfast was included. Loved the delicious fresh juice that was served every morning. The beach was beautiful and not too crazy.
Review 61:Each room has a specific set of beach chairs & Umbrella but even if the beach is empty the staff gives you a hard time if you want to use another set of chairs closer to the wifi. If no one is using the chairs, whats the problem with us using them? You get a sense that you are less privileged if you aren't paying for ocean front cabana. Sometimes there is not water but, hey. It's Mexico. Also, if you are staying in room 22, there is a ladder on your balcony that the maintenance staff uses to access the water tanks on the roof. Complete privacy should not be expected.
Review 62:Griselda (housekeeper) was magnificent! She was so pleasant to meet and to speak with each day and her towel animal skills are top, top, top! I love that everything is beautiful white sand--from the hotel entrance, the lobby, all of the walkways and even the restaurant floor. It says paradise from the moment you walk in. The grounds are very nice for such a well priced hotel. They take pride in their property. The "Mexicano" breakfast is delicious (even after 5 days in a row) and the Fruit & Yogurt option is good too. Rooms 22 & 23 sit above the treeline on the third floor accessible by a spiral staircase (third floor). The view is marvelous and the breeze makes it the best room on the property if you as me (despite privacy issues--see dislikes). It makes the balcony 10 degrees cooler than than anywhere else on site. Free parking is nice and the proximity to town and the Tulum Ruins is ideal.
Review 63:Ants in the shower and throughout the room. wifi was only at restaurant, no one informed me about room being ready after waiting hours.
Review 64:The hammock on the porch, proximity to the beach, very peaceful
Review 65:My room was a little away from the beach so I didn't get a sea breeze so it did get a little warm even with a fan. I made the booking and got the worst room wasn't happy about that . My friends room was closer and they didn't have an issue with the heat as they got a beautiful sea breeze . A lot of seaweed but that's nobody's fault .
Review 66:The Mexican breakfast is a must ! The towel art is unbelievable . All staff were so accomadating nothing was too much trouble . Soft white sand is everywhere except your rooms which great no need for shoes . It's a true Mexican beach experience . Wouldn't hesitate in returning .
Review 67:The only glitch in our stay was the water situation. We noticed a ladder on our patio and found out that we would also have workman climbing it to check the status of the water tank frequently. In the morning there was no water- twice. After complaining to the front desk we were moved to a beautiful up-grade private bungalow on the ocean. Next morning... no water again. seems they turn off the system at night and back on by 7:30 am. Would have been better to let us know that in advance. But they did address our problem and fix it promptly. We would stay there again.
Review 68:The hotel is in a perfect setting, very casual but with everything you need. I spent the whole time barefoot. The lobby has a sand floor as does the restaurant. Everything sits right on the beach. The grounds are well maintained and the staff very friendly.
Review 69:WiFi in the rooms could be improved.
Review 70:Beautiful setting, the very best location, wonderful staff (especially Ulisises at the front desk), breakfasts amazing!
Review 71:I booked a room without AC which was a huge mistake. I needed to sleep with the windows and doors open which was not ideal as we were beach front on a public beach. The room was not very clean. The water was hit and miss. The breakfast was average. In my opinion the room was massively overpriced but I think thats in line with some similar properties in the area.
Review 72:The restaurant staff were lovely. I was not entirely happy with my visit but the manager listened to my concerns and dealt with them satisfactorily. The beach is lovely (not pristine due to seaweed). The area directly in front of the hotel is nice and quiet. Its near the ruins.
Review 73:The beachfront bungalow could not have been more perfectly situated. It's a lovely stretch of beach, seemingly wider than many other spots along the coast where it sometimes gets rocky and shrinks close up against the hotels. We also appreciated that it was generally quieter than what seemed to be the more populated area of km 5-7 further down the beach road. We had a very relaxing stay.
Review 74:We woke up to no water at least 4 out of the 6 days we were there and there was an odor because of issues with the plumbing. The odor became significantly worse throughout the week. Additionally, the food at the restaurant was underwhelming and the service at the beach could have been better. Some of the staff made us feel like they were doing us a favor.
Review 75:The location is amazing and the vibe of the beach cabanas lived up to expectation. Reserved beach chairs, hammock on our private deck were amazing!!
Review 76:The staff was not really friendly. The wifi only worked in the restaurant( think that we knew ), but you felt forced to drink something as they were looking at you if you dis not do it. For a hotel of this price I expected nicer service.
Review 77:Nice location, nice beach, nice concept.
Review 78:That we had to leave.
Review 79:We stayed six nights. The staff went out of their way to treat us like old friends. They gave us valuable tips on where to shop and out-of-the-way excursions. We would return over and over.
Review 80:Nothing!
Review 81:La vita e bella is truly special. The beach is the best in Tulum. It is angled just right to get the most sun . Hotels further south dont get as much sun. You can walk just south to Mezzanine to eat the best Thai food. Chedroui (a super mart) is close by to get grocerys
Review 82:high prices for basic accommidation and and restaurant but in line of overpriced area.
Review 83:magnificent location, service ,romantic ambiance ,good restaurant , very special place.
Review 84:great location; welcoming, friendly and helpful staff; good breakfast included in room rate; various sights (Mayan ruins, cenotes) in easy reach especially if you have your own car.
Review 85:I can't say is "cheap" and I think you pay more the location than the facilities. everything is nice but for instance the beds/pillows can be more comfortable.
Review 86:location, bungalow on the beach, privacy attention to the environment impact (everything very "natural")
Review 87:Nothing, it was perfect
Review 88:The flow of beach into the hotel, pristine sand underfoot, location 5 min drive into town, Desmerelda's towel animals, beautiful part of the beach.
Review 89:I didn't like that I had to leave.
Review 90:This is the most amazing place i've ever been to (so far). The bunglaw on the beach is legendary. The restaurant and bar (and the all resort) is literally on the sand. Can't wait to come back.
Review 91:Leaving to go home.
Review 92:Everything was what you hope a vacation will be. Beautiful location, great staff, delicious food, comfortable rooms and amazingly relaxing.
Review 93:Would have been nice to be able to order food/snacks from my beach chair to enjoy with my cocktails, but the restuarant is only a few steps away.
Review 94:Located on quiet end of the beach. Wide beach area, low traffic, beautiful water Breakfast included..try the Mexicano...its great!
Review 95:One week was too short. We did not want to leave! Not a big deal, but note that there are not a line of taxis waiting out front. You need to have someone call for one so plan a little extra time for the car to arrive. Enjoy a sit on the leather couches on the sand in the lobby while you wait. No ATM anywhere near by. You must go into to town for cash (70 peso ride). Get pesos at the Cancun airport before you travel to Tulum. Often cabs and vendors will take American Dollars, but I do not know about other currencies. Tip: only 2 bottles of water a day was not enough for us, so we bought some at the supermarket in town to have in the room to drink at night and refill the smaller bottles to carry. Additional cold bottled water is available for purchase in the restaurant/bar when it is open.
Review 96:Note that we are casual, independent people who like a non-fussy atmosphere. -Bungalow on the beach with porch, hammock and ceiling fan -Gorgeous powdery sand -Lots of stars in the sky at night -Helpful staff when we asked for local information, tours, etc (our days went smoothly and we saved a lot of money as a result) -Nice breakfast staff got to know us -Variety of 4 types of the included breakfast -Very good shrimp tacos were a nice first meal after we arrived -We went off season so the beach was very open and it was not too hot and there were very few bugs. -Eating all meals barefoot - even at the Thai restaurant down the beach. -Walk to the Mayan ruins along the beach (we are from NYC so walk a lot. This may be too much for someone not used to walking since there is also a lot of walking in the open sun at the ruins) -OK with English -Electricity in the room with American plug types -No gift shop (but you can buy suntan lotion) - The Iguana who sits on the roof next door
Review 97:I spent well over £700 at the hotel as a solo traveller I was paying for a double rm.whilst there I had a guest stay the hotel insisted my friend pay for their breakfast despite me paying 4 a double rm. very disappointing considering breakfast was free and the amount of money I had spent there
Review 98:That we couldn't stay longer.
Review 99:The view, the bungalows were fantastic. The beach was perfectly secluded. If you imagine paradise look no further. Because at la vita e Bella you will find it.
Review 100:the Location is beautiful, the cabana's are comfy and right on the beach. The Complimentary breakfast was very tasty! I can't wait to go back!
Review 101:The cabins are adequate except for the lighting (bring a flashlight). A mosquito net for the bed would have been nice. Wifi is only available inside the restaurant.
Review 102:Probably one of the best places to stay in Tulum if you want direct access to the beach. The Italian restaurant is quite good. The staff was helpful.
Review 103:The beds were not very comfortable
Review 104:Aldo, the manager, was extremely helpful. It was a great value, fantastic Italian food, and the staff was friendly
Review 105:Location and staff!
Review 106:Management is rude and unaccomodating
Review 107:Really enjoyed our stay. Rooms right on the beach. Great for someone who wants something a bit More remote.
Review 108:bugs in beds, garbage on beach and seaweed not cleaned up for 3 days, an unresponsive and uncaring management staff.
Review 109:location
Review 110:Ants!!
Review 111:Beach front cabanas are amazing. You wake up to the sun rising and the sound of lapping waves.
Review 112:Right on the beach, with lovely views. Very helpful staff. Very good restaurant. Body surfing and swimming was super!
Review 113:Service (particularly the reception desk staff)
Review 114:It would be nice to be able to strike some of the outdoor lighting near the cabañas.
Review 115:Excellent restaurant. Pleasing hotel aesthetic overall.
Review 116:Staff are very helpful and friendly. Loved the place, close to Tulum ruins and the best stretch of beach.
Review 117:The bed was very uncomfy & was giving me a bad backache
Review 118:Food & beachview tables in the restaurant:) Friendly staff
Review 119:Not worth the money Staffel was complaining about its own hotel
Review 120:Location Super big room
Review 121:A little pricey for what you get. But so is every other place along the beach
Review 122:Great beach. Quiet end of the beach. Excellent staff. Good restaurant.
Review 123:Incredible location and great staff.
Review 124:the perfect beach location and rustic ambience.
Review 125:Nice people, nice beach
Review 126:Cockroaches
Review 127:The rooms can get a bit moist without the ac sometimes, but it is jungle and beach....
Review 128:Clean, cumfy, gorgeous beach in footsteps
Review 129:The hotel´s restaurant was expensive. Bad price:meal ratio
Review 130:The Place is really good
