Reviews for Senhor de Matosinhos

Review 1:Wifi was a tad slow so it was very hard to do a Skype call without voice distortion. Bathroom could use improvements, as some of the furnishings were chipped.

Review 2:This is a family owned business, so all the staff is helpful and very humble. The room is incredibly spacious and comfortable - better than some chain hotels, IMO - and very close to both public transport and local commerce.

Review 3:Limited breakfast, but at that cost, can't complain really!

Review 4:Very comfortable and cozy little room for a more than reasonable rate. Very helpful staff, although sometimes little problems with English. No problem to change the duration of my stay though and everything worked out great. Coming back at midnight is not a problem either, there's always someone there to let you in and give you your key. Free Wifi on the premises, not only in common areas.

Review 5:Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms big and refurbed, great location in the centre and near fish restaurants , if you need a taxi to beach it's 4.50€.

Review 6:We arrived from the airport, extremely late, but had no problem getting the room. We only used this place as a airport hotel, for one night. We enjoyed the open-air breakfast (there's also indoor seating).

Review 7:See my previous stay in this residencial: This time the WiFi worked (sort of..), but it was NOT possible to stream video.

Review 8:Nice old building with high decorated ceilings. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast (included). Great value for money.

Review 9:WiFi did not work but I could use a computer in the breakfast / bar area. Just wished that hotels give more importance to this service.

Review 10:Excellent helpful staff. Nice old building with high ceilings. Good breakfast. Downtown Porto is about 30 minutes by metro.

Review 11:... the place - near the ocean - is damp and the building quite old, the mix of the two could be not so comfortable for a long stay.

Review 12:All the staff very very kind and helpful.

Review 13:The place is old and needs renovation (mouldy ceiling, very unpleasant smell). They are supposed to accept credit cards but the terminal never works. Hostel-like breakfast. They charge way too much for what they offer.

Review 14:nice staff

Review 15:Bathroom was tiny.

Review 16:We liked the proximity to the metro and the available car park to access the centre of Porto. The breakfast included was good and the manager ensured that we had everything we needed. There was cereal, croissant, fresh rolls (ham, cheese, jam etc). The rooms were serviced. If you want bed and breakfast at a good price, this hotel is recommended.

Review 17:Having to ring the bell to be let in, every time you returned tothe hotel.

Review 18:Really good coffee @ B.fast. Outside eating area roofed over with largevines. My room was only euro.55 Per night and slept 4 people. Quietlocation, only 5-10 mins from buses and Metro.

Review 19:air in the room was a bit staffed, but as long as you did not come for staying in the hotel, the rooms are good.

Review 20:location, staff (thank you Karlos and the colleagues), reasonable comfort at this price !! wi-fi and air con and shower w/toilet in the room, nice walking distance to the beach and those wonderful (and not expensive) fish restaurants. metro takes you to the city centre within 30 mins. Normal for me as i'm from Moscow. Next time i come to Matosinhos i'll defo stay at the same hotel/ hostel!

Review 21:The staff here are really friendly and couldn't do enough for us. As we had traveled with 3 young children we found the assistance from the staff very useful. The breakfast is superb!

Review 40:The staff there was very friendly and made us feel welcomed. Good with kids. The room was clean and comfortable. It is a great value for the money, well located and has parking available.

Review 41:We were told breakfast was free on the first day but when we had to pay our bill we were told that it was only free for the first three days and we stayed there for 12 days. This should have been made clear at the start.

Review 42:We liked the location, but while we were there there was road works which interfered with using the road.

Review 43:Slight smell of damp on arrival but not pervasive.

Review 44:Very good location for starting Caminho along the coast. Friendly, helpful receptionist/owner. Very good breakfast. Rooms basic but very clean and comfortable for a night. Interesting old building.

Review 45:We loved our stay in Senor de Matosinhos very much. All three staff members were very nice, kind and helpful and available 24 hours/day. Hotel facilities and location were top! The room was large with high ceilings and had a private bathroom. Everything was very clean. Very good breakfast. We certainly recommend this B & B for everyone who wants to visit Matosinhos, Porto and environment for a real good price.

Review 46:As the house is in a normal neighborhood we could hear a very nervous dog that was barking in the night for some time. But it was nothing really disturbing. We felt like in the countryside. :-)

Review 47:More a family run guesthouse than a hotel. Room was large enough, with high ceilings. Bathroom recently renovated and very clean. They offer free parking in a private yard behind the house. The hotel is about 8 minutes walk from the beach, 10 minutes to metro station and supermarket and around 8 minutes to the street with fish restaurants. The staff was excellent. When we came there the guy asked us whether we were in Porto area already, then took a map and explained us all and even more than we needed. Next day, his colleague draw us a Map (by heart) with directions to the nearest gas station and then to the airport. Better than GPS navigation we had with us!

Review 48:The hotel is just 500 meters from the sea side. The metro (tram) to Porto City centre is just 3 minutes walking. You can park with the car insede, don't have to leave it in the street. Very good value for your money. The staff is nice, breakfast is good, wi-fi connection is strong, we were satisfied. Recommended.

Review 49:It was a pleasure to stay in this hotel, with very nice and helpful staff. Best regards to Mr. Carlos. We have a very good WiFi connection. The hotel is closed to the beach and to the park, so the location is perfect for holiday.

Review 50:Situated next to the beach, restaurants and easy access to transport links. Staff were really pleasant. I would definitely recommend it for weekend breaks.

Review 56:Convenient location, good value. Includes breakfast. Rooms were "dated" but clean and comfortable.

Review 57:The Staff were so helpful and friendly

Review 58:Wifi did not work in the room

Review 59:Great location, old fashioned hostal with charming style

Review 60:A little sad and anonimous

Review 61:Good value for money Location is near restaurants with good fish

Review 62:Unfortunately the Wi-fi was unavailable during our stay.

Review 63:Staff were helpful, easy access to public transport and close tothe beach.

Review 64:I liked how the staff were very helpful as we did not speak any Portuguese. Breakfast was always available each day with a good range.
